Totally. I could see from this video how much fun he had working with the kids and seeing how much they had on set. And another thing I remember hearing was that he and his wife also cared for Mara while her mother was ill with cancer, and then prior to her mother's death Danny showed her the film because she wanted to watch it. Such a kind hearted guy.

I loved the part where Danny recounts that Matilda told him that she was embarrassed to dance in front of everyone, so Danny got everyone to dance as well while she was dancing, and she was not the only one anymore. That was so sweet. By the way, Pam Farris didn't get hurt filming the erasers scene hitting her, but she had to go to the hospital a couple of times because she sometimes would get big chunks of chalk in her eyes that needed to get washed out.

    Fun and unfortunate fact
Mara Wilson the actress of Matilda saw Danny and Rhea as a second family since they took it upon themselves to help raise Mara while her mother was in the hospital with cancer
Just before maras mother passed away Danny played part of the movie to her (the movie wasn't finished yet) and after she passed Danny helped Mara cope with her mother's death
Danny is definitely one of the nicest people known to man

That's because they're all really there. There's actually props to interact with. Compare the Lord of the Rings movies with the Hobbit movies for example. The Lord of the Rings movies have real props. Real things for the actors to touch and interact with. In The Hobbit, a lot of things are not actually there so it's awkward and fake. Both were made by the same people with several of the same actors. However, there is a huge gap in quality because of the CGI.

Not only did Danny and her wife take care of her while filming, but she also later knew that he secretly "stole" an unfinished version of the movie just for Mara's mom to see. Thanks to that she was able to watch her daughter play Matilda before passing away.

Robert Ryan No, Matilda is based on the book of the same name by Roald Dahl, and the screenplay of the movie was written by other people. But yes, he's amazing.

The way all of them talk about the special effects and how it was done sounds like it was made in someone's garage, a home movie type. But in a positive way like you can see how Dani was so proud and close to his work and the actors and the staff.

Danny Devito seems like a genuinely kind guy and seems to really know how to communicate with child actors. All the children in the movie seemed to really enjoy themselves, even though the whole process can be overwhelming. Respect

Cheaper. Thats why they did it that way back then, too. It was cheaper and more realistic than CGI was at the time.
