I got the P0340 code after the car cut off on the highway. I already had the new sensors. Getting to that front one took me unscrewing much of the airbox to get it. It did not slide out easy after taking out the 10mm bolt. Maybe the o-ring caused that? Does this sensor sit in an area with oil? I only did the sensor at the front of the engine. The biggest issue is using a non-OEM sensor. It costs a lot, but again it will last very many years or miles. But yes, it is in contact with a lot of oil. A bad o-ring will cause leaks but will most likely not cause the code.

Why you ALWAYS have a vk on a stand? Found a 2011 M56xS btw
I didn't choose this life, the VKs chose me.
@@EdBwoy 😆 fair enough. But seriously, customers cars? Your cars? Vk's really this problematic? Just doing for general vk info? I'm pretty sure these are after your jdm vk swap.. I kno its fun for you, fun for me too...
@@mikeschaner5853 the engines you've seen are probably one or 2 of my old engines which appear in different videos. These are mostly my own cars which I buy with damaged engines, with the intention of general learning.
*Problematic? No.* These are some of the most amazing engines I've laid my hands on. I dont think they are too demanding, but they will punish you if you neglect them. All but one of the damaged engines that have passed through my garage have been due to being run low on oil.
@@EdBwoy your the best brody we spoke yesr ago about me buying one of the m56s I own a q45 at the moment just as much fun thanks you always there if I ever meet dinner on me drinks too merry Christmas 2021
Is this the same as 2006 M45
Yes, it is
I have an fx50 and i have the code P0430. My dash is all lit up and i get bad limp modes past 3500 rpm. Do you think replacing the camshaft sensor would fix all that? I really hope it will because i was considering selling the suv which i don’t want to if i dont need to lol
Is the code p0340 or p0430? You indicated p0430 and that's a catalyst code (right side exhaust manifold). There are some known things that cause issues at 3500 RPM though, so you could work on them one by one
@@EdBwoy you are right its P0430 not P0340 it says catalyst system efficiency below threshold
I also have code P0024 : B Camshaft position -Timing over-advanced or system performance
@Edbwoy i bought the FX with the issues but to be honest i feel like it has atleast another 50k-70k miles in it with proper maintenance. Just don’t want to spend more then it’s worth tbh. Its at 273000 KM, i bought it for only $5000 and spent $1500 on it so far (brakes, rotors, control arm)
@@mrlebaneseboss addressing the p0024 should fix your limp mode issues. It's something to do with your exhaust camshaft on the right side. I would start by switching the sensors at the top of the timing cover, to see if the code changes.
If it changes, the sensor is bad. If it doesn't, then you need to start looking at the solenoid or the signal pickup
@@EdBwoy i just ordered a new solnoid B hopefully it fixes the issue. I tried looking for the signal pick up sensors couldnt find a specific one for the fx50 seems a little hard to find parts for it in canada in this market. Thank you for the help! Hoping to get atleast another 50k miles from this beast
Change both sensor it cranked acted like it was going to start then it stopped just started to click again
The sensors only come to play when the engine is already turning. If the engine refused to even turn, then it's a problem with the battery or starter.
@@EdBwoy do they have to be reprogrammed to the computer for the car to crank
P0155 / p1135 help thanks
What did the diagnostic tool say?
Hey Ed need some help here. I have a 2008 M45 with 104,000 miles and I want to replace all necessary cam and crankshaft sensors before this issue arises. Car runs perfect now but don't want to get stranded. What's the total count for full replacement thanks
1 camshaft sensor and one crankshaft sensor
@@EdBwoy so two total? I thought there were 3?
@@fredwilliams7893 well, there are more sensors, but the ones you asked for add up to 2. forums.nicoclub.com/infiniti-v8-p0340-p0335-camshaft-and-crankshaft-position-sensor-codes-t616654.html
@henryseom73 so I just found out from Infiniti, that the crankshaft and cam shaft have the same part number. Double check to be sure though.
Has anyone experienced the cam shaft sensor crapping out every 10-15k miles ?
Are you buying OEM or an off brand?
EdBwoy I bought a used m45, and I’ve noticed that the previous owner replaced the cam shaft sensor 3 times already. I’m guessing the off brand ones don’t last as long. Waiting on my parts to arrive but it’s related to p0340
EdBwoy I just replaced the cam shaft sensor with a new off brand but after 30 miles of driving . Got the p0340 code again. Do you think it has something to do with the sensor?
@@shootunderpar4736 yup! I'd start with getting a proper sensor from Nissan/Infiniti
EdBwoy ended up getting the sensor from autozone since they offer lifetime warranty on the duralast sensors. Much better quality than the eBay ones, I’ll update to see how long it last.
Also do you know if the throttle body’s from the 1st gen VK56de throttle bodies will fit on the vk45de
You can eat off that motor how clean it is
I just got a code P2138 throttle position sensor. Talking to many
mechanics they say that's a rare part or job they ever had to replace or
deal with. They say its so rare that it may be a false code far as what
the car's real issue could be. Has any of your M45s had the code?
Thanks
That code points to the accelerator pedal.
Infiniti issued a recall for the gas pedal. If you don't know the history of it, call a dealership with your VIN or check online to see if the recall was done on your car. Recalls usually cost the consumer $0.00
