      This team have defeated WI in 1996 WC In which riche Richardson got bowled and BC Lara got caught for 8 runs,still one of the greatest upset in our 90s era😉 becoz the target was 166 but WI got all out for 93

    Kenya was unpredictable team during 1996-2003. They even reached 2003 WC Semi Finals. Internal political crisis destroyed their growth further completely.

      NZ and England backing away from their games to be played in Kenya played a big part in their reaching SF of 2003. But still they played decent cricket overall.

    1995-2005 was the golden period of African cricket and Kenya definitely deserved a test status. They were far better than Bangladesh.

    They had a fearless coach Sandeep Patil. Sandeep Patil taught them to play fearless cricket. That's why they reached semifinals in 2003 WC

      When Gregg Chappell was Indian coach we lost everywhere.
      When Waqar Younis coached Pakistan team they lost too.
      Now see the turn around
      Gary Kirsten becomes our coach we start winning.
      Hayden become Pakistan coach they defeated India in t20 WC last year.
      Dressing room environment needs to be calm before important matches.

      They defeated India in 2001 in South Africa while defending 240 runs
      They defeated Sri Lanka in 2003 Word cup while defending.
      Yes that's been their main problem

    Given the six dropped catches and two missed run outs India were lucky to get as close as they did. Kenya’s bowlers were terrific. Their fielders were pretty awful in this game.

    Kenya always push hard Bangladesh cricket during 90s. Our first ever ODI victory was against Kenya in 1998. After 2003 WORLD cup cricket they just lost the way. So sad to see Kenyan cricket is no longer exist today in international arena. 😭😭😭

    With high regards to Anil Kumbles bowling..In those golden days we all knew whenever Anil Kumble walked in for batting the result was already known 😂😂😂 Infact It was all top 3 in the batting.. As soon as 3 top order batsman got out Indian team could never recover.. Things changed slowly with the inclusions of Sehwag Yuvraj Kaif and later the trend continued with MSD.. India were always a work in progress team and now India is a dominant powerhouse in cricket world

    Indian team was completely dependent on Sachin and Sourav during this time. I see Kenya dropping couple of catches in this highlights and some lbw not given and missing runouts. Still Kenya won the match by huge margin. That’s how bad Indian team was during this time.

    At that time...Kenya was the dark horse team...they could defeat any big team when they performed 100%...In 2003 they surprised everyone to reach in semifinal by the help of coach sandeep patil and in semifinal they also put india in trouble for some time...but luckily india survived !!!

    Kenya played the semi-final of the WC 2003. They beat full members such as SL, WI, Zim, Bangladesh, India twice, and had very close games against Pakistan and even Australia. Yet, they were not given test status or full-member status, whereas Bangladesh only beat Pakistan in a WC dead rubber match and they were given the test status. What an irony. ICC's bias is evident in Kenya's case. Undoubtedly, Kenya became a victim of unfair treatment by ICC.

When Kenya realized they would not get due support from ICC, they left hope, which led to the destruction of their cricket.

    Around 1998 Kenya was much better than bangladesh and deserved test status, but due to politics and strong backing from BCCI, bangladesh received the test status. bangladesh continued to play like dummies for the next decade before winning any significant test match

    Zimbabwe and Kenya were emerging time. If their both countries political system were stable today this team gave though challenge like Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Ireland doing now. Really miss those days

    Still remember waking up the next day as a Grade 3 schoolboy, only to find that Indian team lost to the minnows.
    However, in the next match, India badly defeated Kenya by about 180 runs, after scoring 350+

      Don't think so. This was a 3 nation tournament with Bangladesh/ Zimbabwe being third team. India had already qualified before this match started. The next match was the final in which India thrashed Kenya.

      TBH even during the 90s to early 2000s, Zimbabwe and Kenya were not the strongest teams in cricket. They lost many matches to the top teams and only occasionally beat them as evident by their record against them. I think they would’ve still remained as minnows today even if it wasn’t for the politics.

    Hitter at top by name Sehwag and another in middle order Yuvraj came in and made life easy for the Big 3.
