    I feel like Chenyu Vale emits traditional Chinese fantasy vibe and old Liyue, Genshified Chinese vibe.

      That's pretty accurate to what the place is, inherently. I just think alot of people forget that, despite China's INSPIRATION on Liyue, Liyue isn't simply just China. I think, personally, like I said with the element of Earth, just because it's similar to China, doesn't mean it's Liyue. I think Liyue's culture is first and foremost rather than China's, but this is my opinion

    Very nice video! I think one reason Chenyu Vale feels different for me is because of it's connections to Fontaine. Fontaine is so colorful and vibrant that Chenyu Vale feels the same. Culturally it's inspired off of East Asian countries, mostly China, but the color pallette feels it had the same inspiration behind Fontaine. A part of me also wonders if the have yet to be released Mondstandt expansion could possibly influence the land from a lore perspective? 🤔

    I really liked the disconnected nature of chenyu vale. It was connected to liyue in a way, while simultaneously feeling really fresh. Also I felt like you had a more energetic? vibe in this video.

    Well it makes it feel like a Region of Liyue. Part of Liyue but another area with uts own Specialties.

    • @ItsJustT
      @ItsJustT  6 месяцев назад

      And I fully agree! I just feel like, despite this, it could have more similarities. If they had multiple regions of this calibre, it would be fine imo, but Chenyu Vale is more of an outlier

    I see the point about it chenyu bring different from mainland of liyue, but I don't really see the problem or inconsintency with that

    • @ItsJustT
      @ItsJustT  6 месяцев назад

      Wouldn't call it a problem, because I made it clear it's an opinion. You don't need to share that sentiment, if you see that it's different, that's pretty much my job done because how you feel about it being different isn't something that I'm trying to change nor something I should try to change

    For me its the middoe ground transition from inazuma to sumeru but using liyue instead, I also feel like this whole thing should happen parallel or somewhere close to the chasm quests, the story doesnt affect or connect weirdly with the main story

    I love your videos so much theyre so interesting! I quite enjoyed chenyu vales packed atmosphere and I felt reassured when I did puzzles because I felt like I couldnt miss anything. the ruins being floaty and able to be repaired was a very nice touch and I wish they did that more, honestly. I definitely agree on it being disconnected but in my experience I preferred it over the rest of liyue (I hated chasm, really dislike caves), but the whole experience felt very unique and I often forget its even part of liyue to be honest.
    I was really upset when fontaine first came out and used mondstats grass color, because I was very impressed that every region had different coloured grass according to the element, and I was expecting slightly more pale grass. chenyu was able to get it at least lol... maybe it contributes to the tea aspect.
    I also remember when I first came to the river it looked like there was a giant bathplug inside and it often gives me the feeling that chenyu vale is a gigantic teapot that we explore inside. not sure if that was intentional but its a cool aspect

    • @ItsJustT
      @ItsJustT  6 месяцев назад

      That teapot thing is crazy lmao 😭 but nah, that's good
      The teapot thing again may be some deep secret design intention who knowss

    I often feel like genshin lacks a clear vision; every aspect about the creative direction feels very disconnected from what the original intent seems to have been.
    While playing through the story on a new account, I couldn't help but to think that there was very little planning involved when writing the story and designing the environments and gameplay of different regions -- almost as if the creative direction had been changed multiple times. It's very uncommon to see mentions of upcoming regions and characters in quests, it's like they didn't exist (or only existed to a very limited extent) before being introduced.
    If we're being honest, it's not like Fujin ever existed before chenyu vale being proposed. As far as I know, neither her, nor her master were ever even alluded to before the release of chenyu vale; it's difficult to imagine they even existed before it.
    I wonder if they ever even really had a vision for what would eventually become of chenyu vale when liyue originally came to be. It's like they didn't plan on anything, but also didn't mind to follow the steps of the original direction as time passed.
    It's difficult to feel immersed in a world when you're constantly reminded, not only that it is a game, but that very little of it was properly set up.
    As a side note, it's cool to see the impact that the changes in topography and the quality and colour of the rock formations of a region can have on the general vibe of it.
    Nice video btw, it's a very cool topic.

    Ah man, I really hate to be negative but I could only get through half the video because I think your points just.. don't work
    The region being a different color because it was a different nation is ABSOLUTELY a valid reason, and it's very short-sighted and biased to say that it's not. During the quest we see what the land used to look like, and it doesn't resemble anything from Fontaine, Sumeru or Liyue- it was *purple*. So yes, after the previous god made the land habitable, they turned it into a color closer to JADE. It's not meant to feel like Liyue, that is the point, maybe you cover this in the latter half but with so much undue negativity before that I just really could not get any farther
    Also, trying to talk about whether mechanics "fit the theme" is just a useless exercise. The devs added those mechanics because they have refined said mechanics over the past 4 years so like.. no shit it feels different? And I personally think that the greater distinction from the rest of Liyue helps those mechanics fit in better
    Focusing on the differences and the reason for them lore wise would have made a nice video, but spending a bunch of time just kinda shitting on design choices that basically come down to "well *I* don't like it" is not a good premise. I don't think the game is some perfect masterpiece immune to criticism but this just ain't it chief

    • @ItsJustT
      @ItsJustT  6 месяцев назад +2

      But the problem with all of this is, I address that I do love Chenyu Vale, it's mechanics and design 😭 I also bring up the colour thing within the Story & Characters section I believe
      While there were some negatively connotated comments, it's an argument on why it's different first and foremost. Not why being different is bad. I try to make it very clear I like the place alot, but I just don't think it fits in with Liyue. Just because I said it's not allowed to be a reason hardly means anything because I'm not tryna discuss why THEY made it different, just HOW it's different

      I decided to watch the rest because I really do hate feeling negative about a video I know someone put a lot of time and effort into.
      I know that you reinforced your appreciation for the region several times, I do think however that it comes off very.. mixed. I did enjoy seeing the different things that compare and contrast, but presented in the way you have, they do feel quite biased (though it is heavily in the beginning). My critique I think would be to present things a little more objectively going into it, and leave the subjective part towards the end. When you interject facts with opinions, it starts to feel like more of a review and less like a list of similarities and differences.
      Later in the video it clicked for me what the point was, but I'll leave my comment up because I think it still stands - unfortunately on this platform you can't guarantee that someone will watch the whole thing through. Other than that though, I want to emphasize that I do think the video was well made and that the concept of showing the area against Liyue as a whole is interesting. I clicked in because I originally thought this was going to be a lore explanation of said differences by the way - I watch a lot of Aster and My Name for Now and such so I did kind of just assume that was the "why" you were referring to, but I don't think there was much you could have done about that lol

    • @ItsJustT
      @ItsJustT  6 месяцев назад +1

      @ultimus616 lmao that's all good. I actually do intend for these to be reviews however. Atleast modelled as such, they're reviews, and I do believe I said clearly occasionally that everything is an opinion, and it's more explaining my opinion. I *believe* that it's *objectively* disconnected yet wonderful, if that makes sense. I've never been too into lore beyond like dumbed down stuff and I noticed the only videos that are like mine are usually lore based, as you said, so I wanted to offer something a bit different. So, in the end, I understand why you expected it to be lore-based, because most long form genshin discussions are lmao. Either way, thank you for the feedback 😋

    Chenyu Vale is not disconnected, it's the connection between Liyue, Sumeru and Fontaine.
    It has the history and culture of Liyue, the environmentalism and movement assistance of Sumeru, and the emphasis on water and past deeds of Fontaine.

    • @ItsJustT
      @ItsJustT  6 месяцев назад

      That's a fair opinion, I'd just respectfully disagree
      Considering Liyue as a whole is closer to Sumeru
      And the desert has no equivelant for natlan & Fontaine or anything
      Id argue that just makes Chenyu Vale an anomaly amongst other possible candidates for connections

    I'm pretty sure this is just a 23 minute video where he says "it doesnt look like the rest of liyue" the entire time. Then you switch to a different topic, only to describe how X mechanic would feel more like Liyue if the area looked more like Liyue. Also it just doesn't look like Liyue

    I was annoyed by the disconnected nature of Chenyu and its quests because the patch before and after were filler, and although it was a new area it also felt like filler due to this
    I feel like they could have handled the pacing better, like putting Furina and her quest in 4.3 or Arle and her quest in 4.5, then Chenyu would have felt more like the special gem it is instead of fillery
