I like the way they brought in all of that antique flooring, to "...keep that aesthetic." Then they painted all of it black.
I thought the same but second guessed myself because "architect" said so. I would have wanted to show off the grains of those timber
I was thinking this haha :’)! I love the library probably my fav room but I’d have kept it mahogany coloured !!
The floors are actually the only thing I like about the entire house
100M Dollar home and statues of Buddha, I hope they can see the irony.
Yes!
I'm sure they do not lol.
Its a custom to have buddha statue in many asian homes. Its believed to bring wealth and luck
Exactly
Shut up nerd
They make the concept of having functioning doors and windows sound so exotic😂
😂guess not all 100 m dollar homes have working doors n windows. ha
Rich people good at sugar coating their words
have to sell it off
Must be the location because that does not look to be 100 million.
4:27 It looks like they may have some functioning shutters too!
for 100 million dollars this home has almost no "wow" factor. It just looks like a normal nice house that keeps going and going. The only wow is that its on 750 acres... which unless you are a farmer, seems a waste.
Wonder what the price would be without the acreage. Would it be more attractive?
It's probably the acres.
The land and the barns must be worth several million themselves. High-end horse facilities are expensive.
Its not just the house, it os a good land property.
Agreed. It seems bloated and actually trad and boring.
I love AD but I love even more seeing some of these millionaire's mansions and thinking "nah, pass". A poor woman AND a snob, I contain multitudes.
Lol
😂 It’s fun to see a 100 M dollar house that I actually like less than my own house.
Hah so true. I thought the bathrooms and bedrooms were large just to be large, there was no cozyness to them and so much space. Not for me
I wish they did more average houses or at least branch out for different styles other than modern mansion. No average person needs a passageway to their room, there's not even a bookshelf door.
@@Imbatmn57 Absolutely, but maybe that's what their audience expects. Personally, I'd much rather have a lot more style like that that was within reach, and not just "this pillow was designed by Honoré Chrétien." I'm not gonna buy the damn pillow by Honoré Chrétien (I just made that name up, by the way).
I'm not saying everything needs to be from Target, but not everything needs to be for multimillionaires and designers either. I subscribed because I was interested in articles talking about design, not because I was interested in how multimillionaires deck their houses out (often tastelessly) or because I wanted to know how the most avante-garde designers thought.
I did not renew my subscription. Now I just have conversations with myself, mostly.
*IT MEANT SO MUCH* to the owners that they decided to sell it.
Actually,. No,. It means so much they decided to price it So High that Nobody would ever pay that price! Just Crazy!
The carrying costs for what is essentially a private hotel can be too much even for the morbidly wealthy. Time comes in ones life that constantly entertaining can be a major drain not only on ones bank account but physically and mentally. A lot of business owners of these type properties have lavish parties that can be written off as business expenses. Once a person retires or sells the business, that style of entertaining simply is not possible.
exactly
That must be the most underwhelming entrance to a grand house that I’ve ever seen.
Did anyone ask?
@@traviswilson36 yes
@@christopherr.9541 Are you talking about yourself because how would you know what furniture this person has anyway?
Which is nice. Nothing worse than the gates that are grander the house.
Agreed.
A sofa directly behind the stools in the kitchen with no space between... I like to think this was the owners decision bc I can't imagine a designer would've created it like this
yeah I noticed that too
i thought this too
Exactly too squeezed 🤨😏
"The owner has a large family, and likes to have them in the kitchen together." Late-comers get the stools.
I'm starting to think this architect perhaps isn't one at the top of her game
*standing in a 40ft x 40ft library with 20 ft high ceilings* "it really is a space that is quite intimate"
This is the home of a partner of Calvin Klein. It has been on the market for 100M with no price reduction since 2020.
When someone builds such an expensive estate they must realize that when they walk away from it, nobody will want it without a deep discount.
There are just too many other appealing options for 100M, such as the top of the woolworth tower (59M) or a home along the Ocean.
Yes, but unlike a penthouse apartment, IT HAS ALL THAT LAND, which is worth quite a bit should it ever be sub-divided and developed into residential neighborhoods; hence the expensive price tag. PS: Thanks for informing us to whom this property belonged.
@@AshkenaziChristian there's no guarantee all that land will eventually be turned into a neighbourhood. On the other hand the land in let's say Manhattan will not only hold its value but very likely see it increase as time goes by. People who spend millions on secluded areas must be ready to take heavy losses when they get tired of their McMansion.
@@AshkenaziChristian omg it's farmland and forestry in upper new york, you can't just divide it into houses and build a new city lol.
it's a cofounder not a partner
From the road
I don't like all of it, but the pool, the garden and the library are gorgeous!
Agree
The library is the showcase! Wow
I'd have to agree. Those three are the standouts for me, not to mention the land itself and the barns, which we did not really see.
The sun room, the secondary living room, the koi pond, the horse pasture, the Asian doors, the Japanese soaking tub and the tasting room was also really nice. But it's a bit sad that we didn't get to see the stables. If it was my home I would have wanted it to be a bit smaller, more cozy, less white and have a more personal touch.
The views to the garden and landscape are v special…that’s probably where most the the cost lies
The house seems so big but also cramped inside at the same time. Someone who thinks about buying this house needs way more than 100M to cover the cost of extensive renovations that would likely be done.
this beautiful home was built in the 1st world country! but today its in 3rd world country and that changes and devalues everything!
@@karlmarxx6228 i mean... you're right tho
for $100M there's no real 'wow factor', this was a snooze fest no wonder they can't find a buyer.
this beautiful home was built in the 1st world country! but today its in 3rd world country and that changes and devalues everything!
Yep. There are too many architectural and design styles going on throughout the home. It was designed just for them and it shows an eclectic style. Would take a lot of $ to make sense of this home. Not worth $100,000,000 .
I found the use of black in so many areas made it boring to look at. I can't imagine living in such a boring environment.
I've watched this video multiple times NOT because i love this house but because I was trying to find out what justifies that insane price and i can confidently say absolutely nothing! It's 80 million dollars overpriced. These people are insane for wanting that much.
It's the land and the location that drives the price up, for the most part, more than the house itself.
@@jonathancampbell5231 not the house nor the average is worth 100 million....
stonewall also has a HUGE reputation in the equestrian world so I'm sure its highly coveted its just not affordable.
Absolutely Agree!
Usually in these circumstances, the asking price is one thing. The final sale price is quite another.
My favourite is the library, I was expecting more from the kitchen of such a gorgeous house.
The landscaping is divine! Those plants growing around the pergolas are magnificent.
The price isn't for the house, its for the farm and the location. 40 miles from NYC is perfect commuting distance, if you're rich and just want to do business in the city and go back to the farm to escape the hustle and bustle of the city during the night.
Are we really going to ignore the sofa in the kitchen?
The WHITE sofa in the kitchen ?!?!
😂😂😂
You can't ignore the sofa in the kitchen because you just tripped over it due to it being crammed into that space.
I hate how they just skip to the different parts of the house instead of walking us through the house.
accept it, the skipping to other parts is the only thing it has going for it.
@@matthewhayes3142 😂😂😂😂
If there is a house for sale for $100 million there should be a video walk-thru
I never can get to grips with rich peoples fascination for an enormous amount of bathrooms.
Yes! Thank you! I was wondering what to spend my 100 million on! This’ll do nicely
why don't I just build my own dream home for 100M?? my options are not limited 😂
the most intelligent comment
Bro that house comes with 740 acres of land think about it
Brillant 😲
So... the current owners commissioned all those very “personal” touches for their home and immediately after its done they wanna sell it? That’s weird! Not to mentioned overpriced
Yes, I am curious about it
It was finished in 2003. Moving on after almost 20 years is reasonable...
@@Chareads that house was not finished 20 years ago. You can see everything is brand new
My thoughts exactly
@@leobrent7926 look it up, there was even an AD article in 2005 with the original photos
The amount of cushions on the beds and sofas is ridiculous
There’s the comment I was looking for
@@charlottec.7881 🤣
finally, a proper compliment rooted in facts. well done you!
Oh ok you sold me. Might have to dip into my savings a little bit but we’ll make it work
Hope everyone have their dream home one day ~
NEEEEEDS COLOR!
I was thinking the same thing!!!! Kinda bland…
True
@@sarahweaver5651 I'm guessing there was a lot of Japanese decor that the stager removed in their constant quest to remove all individualized personality so that buyers can see themselves and their tastes within the home.
As someone who was an interior designer with friends in real estate this house has been staged to be sold
"This bedroom for instance is beige.. and this one is gray."
My mind kept drifting. It’s just such a boring, bland home and not something I’d pay 100 mil for lol.
u don't have that amount of money either
The owners sure love throw pillows. 😂
where does one sit, the furniture does not invite to just hang out comfortably 😁
Pillow fights
You can really see the different influences in the house, and they come together beautifully. None of the rooms felt oppressively big or garish either, so dreamy....
I wish in addition to the 100 million dollar homes you'd show us the social housing of New York and how architects could improve the situation. Or the good social projects that have been done that are actually helping the people in need. With this crisis I think we need this kind of architecture more than the exclusive one.
Go look out your window
@@cjenkins8785 *spat out my drink*😂😂
Lmao there’s always that one comment 😂
AD is saturated with showcases of opulent projects that have no social value, but architects aren't the ones who fund stuff like that. The Federal government and local ordinances prevent any meaningful solution to affordable housing, and developers are only concerned with gentrification and profit. It's a top-down issue.
That doesn’t sound entertaining
If you’re so into creating cozy intimate spaces, don’t live in a 100 million mansion. These people are so delusional 🤣
They think making a room seem smaller to be cosy is revolutionary but it’s just because they’re all used to oversized living
😂 I’ve been living cozy my whole life and didn’t even know it!
They look like they went out of their way to avoid any sense of coziness. It doesn’t seem homey at all.
@@stellashepherd3229 seems like a nice lounge
that library omggggg stunning
I can't believe people live in houses like this 🥺
I’ve seen 10 million dollar houses that looks way more luxurious than this. That house is definitely not worth the price
😂 I have seen one million dollar apartments that are fabulous and nearby everything!
The Sun room and the library gives me The Great Gatsby vibes ❤
I thought the same thing!! I could just see Carey Mulligan tossing clothes off the library balcony.
The best parts of the house
so does that vodka martini. both will wear off
All that and you didn’t show us the barn? My horse girl companions and I are livid
Agree ! As a professional equestrian , when the narrator said " ... houses baby horses " , I alternately cringed & laughed ! 🤨 😂 When selling horse property , especially at this level , know the correct terminology or find someone who can " talk the talk " to relate to potential buyers .
The interior of this home is immaculate!
if immacualte is the floor of a bar after a raucus saturday night of chicken fightin', dip spittin' and that warm keg of michelob light that exploded at sunset
Loved the sunroom and Pool house…
Im assuming the 100m dollar price tag is simply because the owner has no need or want to sell the estate. I believe these overpriced listings are to drum up attention and sticker shock, whereas an actual interested person wouldn't offer no more than 50-60 for this home. Its gorgeous don't get me wrong (although in my opinion, the interior design isn't the aesthetic of the time period of the home, asian influence in a farmhouse is a bit confusing), but like most overpriced listings, they set the price super high and settle for a lower, realistic price, yet still making a profit. This home will probably be listed for awhile.
They may have to lower it now that there are fewer Russian and Chinese billionaires able to launder money.
That's a real Home amazing work done by architect
well sorry to share but that's not a real architect, only a fantasy could make that a home and the asking price is as amazing as the balls are huge to think there is one idiot dumb enough to pay more than 12 million including tearing that god awful house down to the ground and putting up a tent. cuz a tent would actually be amazing
I’m living for the library and tasting room/wine cellar! 😍😍
This House is really well done, by the Architect and beautiful.
The library tho..so fricken awesome
The arcithect spoke about the"owner" you can see that no one ever lived here and nothing is personal. Like a hotel
Stunning
Freaking gorgeous. Great job to the architect and designers.
Love all the intimate spaces, as she was stating. Death to open floor plans!
Honestly not as much of a McMansion as I was expecting - the interior choice is a bit odd, but it’s not unpleasant. But I just can’t imagine justifying £100m given any buyer will have to spend a tonne on updating everything to their taste, and the space is just excessive.
and it sure ain't pleasant. sort of like saying, you're not wrong
There is nothing I do not like about this house it is all beautifully done with gorgeous outdoor views it is perfection
glasses, contacts, laser eye surgery? otherwise, only cataracts justify that statement
The amount of cushion in this house is hilarious. Are they landing space rockets on those sofas, or what!?
I love this home and the style of the interior. ❤️ it has a very warm homely feeling to it which you wouldn’t expect from a home that big. Absolutely love it
well, everyone has taste. most use it for food. the leftover taste is a deficiency used for the mundane. if that house was even close to mundane, it would be a selling feature. to be fair, bubba is a great name, in the deep south along a lazy river so proof even ugly gets appreciation
@@matthewhayes3142 not sure what you said all that to say but ok.
That staircase looks like it’s deserving of its own segment. Lovely!!
that's not a glowing compliment
Dude the design is 🔥
If the original owners were so adamant about having it built for their comfort to live in for many many years, why are they moving?
They finished building it in 2003, so they have lived there for quite a while...
cuz they're 78, fallen, and can't get up

The house looks like it’s worth $5mm tops. The library is beautiful but the general architecture is severely lacking-very modern, not at all authentic or interesting. I think the price is due to the acreage. You could sell off the land in 10 acre lots for $2-3 mm apiece. If you sell 600 acres in this manner, you could make a $80mm profit. I couldn’t imagine needing more than 150 acres for one horse farm, but maybe I’m wrong 🤷🏼♀️
10 acres isn't worth $2 mil in a whole lot of places...
High end construction like that is going for around $1K x sq ft in NY north of the city these days. So that's around $24M plus the land which is what's actually valuable here. The house is designed for people with no personality, clearly. The whole thing, around $50M.
@@azuradawn5683 exactly! You have to be situated in the right place
Absolutely stunning home!!
Really beautiful home and grounds. The architect really hit this one out of the ballpark managing to incorporate several different styles and still keep a traditional facade. But $100m? That's about $90m too much.
What an experience!
The couch in the kitchen is way to close to the bar stools. Looks way off
Stunning 😍
Excellent and tasteful
Yeah,. The homes in Versailles KY Are Amazing!
Oh so lovely ❤
Amazing !
me watching this with $10 in my bank account
I can't wait till I move in!
Thats everyting but a masterpiece......for a 100 Mio I expect WAY more
Stunning show case. Wow. 🤩
Imagine talking a walk in the house and discovering a new room everyday
imagine slitting your wrist knowing you could be the only one with a fortune so vast that you actually wrote a check for that place, full price, and during your new room a day tour, termites are feasting on that mausoleum as you slowly come to realize you're now both broke, have a decaying mega shack no one wanted, and you're going to die there, alone and penniless. hopefully you don't have a cat. if you do, they start with eyeballs
I wonder what the property taxes are, and if the home meant so much to them then why are they selling?
Usually it's about downsizing. They're getting older and they realize they don't need that much space to operate.
Yes, why?
My question exactly! This seems to be not uncommon when people have these über expensive homes built. They live in it for a while, then it's on the market.
@@Adrianbudiman they swim every day....I guess they are not that old
@@marybuxbaum7847 😂 I know one case in which the owners lived for one year but they went broke and full of debts when they finished the house construction...
Could of trimmed and hemmed the curtains. Hate when they touching the ground it attracts lots of dust.
That is why the owner has a housekeeper or two
I agree. Puddled curtains are so silly. It’s like you spent $100M and didn’t call a seamstress/tailor to cut your window treatments? I can’t imagine the dirt and dust that must accumulate or the tripping hazard for pets and people.
Wow a magical place ❤🌟🏆
So, WHY did we incorporate modern Japanese components & accents to the home if the intended design goal was essentially "Old Money" American countryside estate
Fake humility and tryin too hard to be ‘deep’
Beautiful.
Price is hilarious but my goodness this is a beauty!
