- A beatmaking tip came up on the Reason Livestream with Adam Fielding was so good that it deserved its own tutorial video. When it comes to programming beats, using Beat Map's AI to generate top end elements like hi hats and percussion while programming the main feel yourself for the kick and snare can be a quick way to add constant variety, fills, and interest to your drum patterns. Ryan shows you how in this video.
ABSOLUTELY amazing! I am falling in Love with reason rack actually...
I would love. I mean LOVE if you did these videos on every offset weeks. Or better yet if Ryan is able to take what was talked about on stream and break it down in the way only he can in a video like this. Quality!!
Stream Bytes (Bites)?
@@MrMarcLaflamme I’m not sure what you mean?
@@Round1music bite sized videos from his long streams. Just thinking of what to call the series 🤔
@@MrMarcLaflamme it can be reason bites. And come out around lunch time. Or I would be ok with the 52 weeks coming back but with Ryan and him bringing guest from the stream as part of the tip for the week
@@Round1music he named teh series
I would love to see more videos like this. Specifically where you take the cool things from the live streams and distill them into short videos.
I'm having cool discussions with people now about doing cool stuff like that and more on the Reason Studios channel. I think you'll see more soon! :) /ryan
@@ReasonStudios That sounds great! Thanks, Ryan!
Ryan is the man. Period.
Amen.
Whaaaaaaaaaadt, REASON is RerdonQulous!!! Thank you so much Ryan for all of your educational nudges.
This has to be the best video for trap producers. Thanks Reason for caring about us, too.
More of these edited down tips from the live stream, please. This was excellent, Ryan!
I've requested for this kind of videos and there you are! Thanks Ryan / RS, playing with Reason is so much fun!
Beat Map>Arpeggio>Chords & Scales into Friktion Strings is pretty cool! Excellent video sir, peace ✌️
Post your application of that coolness please
BigPharmaBeatmaker why not just try it out yourself? Curious, not being a dick.
100% awesome. You could also add some extra creative coolness by throwing in Euclidean and AutoLatch players to that stack.
To echo Russell’s comment, just try it. Doesn’t really matter what device you use for sound generation, you get some pretty surprising results! Some not so useable but some that can be chopped into very useable loops etc 👍
so you can do this with a leadsaw?
doubled (sub) leadsaw track to create a sort of underlayer phaser effect?
Ryan all your videos are top notch and super profitable. I think I learned more from just watching these than any other video source and you know how to explain sound concepts that seem foreign from reading online !!
Thanks Peter! I work hard on them and I love hearing that my efforts pay off in the form of people like you finding value in them and making music from what you've learned. /ryan
Love your videos, Ryan. 15 plus year user here and it's still much appreciated.. Thank you so much!!
I know this is old, but whatever. Whenever I see these tuts, I immediately think of all the possibilities and my eyes glaze over... in a good way.
Just got my very first audio interface EVER. Reason is so fascinating, I will try to dedicate a lot of time to get the hang of it and have fun. Great video, liked and subscribed! Thanks!
Exactly what I do. Especially increase the density of hats at the end of a set of 8 or 16 bars
Feels good to get another tutorial from Ryan. It’s been too long since Neat Beat Cheat Sheet. Really making me reconsider staying on 9.5 too.
Oh my god I freaking adore those videos. I'm sad they discontinued them.
I said I wasnt going to upgrade after 10 because "i can host vst's now". but im on 11 and using it on its own. after leaving reason and trying my best to like other daws (logic, ableton, studio one) i dont know what it is.. i always come back.
@@_boof me too. I do use Reaper regularly, but it is for mastering only. That’s how I’ve forced myself to complete a song in reason...render out in reason and master it in reaper. I’ve tried other daws for creating music, but always come back to reason. I’m still on version 10 with no plans to move,
Going to steal this for kicks and hats!
Mae sure you post your masterpiece in a couple of hour, if it’s so inspiring to you
Good job Ryan. Reason is the best DAW out there for sheer creativity and efficiency. I look at Ableton, and it looks cartoonish by comparison!
Ryan is a beast! I wish I had a Music Teacher like him when I was a kid... he's amazing!
Great Video on showing our ability to "MIMIC" the Session Players of the Past....
I got some good results strapping LFOs to the density modulation
Please more videos about Reason. I opened this DAW recently for me. Just amazing. And it still work normal on my old I5 2467m with 6gb ram.
Going back to ReBirth, something I loved to bring in was an evolving beat. I'd do this by altering whatever's going on in a pattern, manually or via ReBirth itself. For more variety, you go with random but, you keep your kick & snare as they were, or with minor variations. - That's more or less as you've described here, Ryan. You don't run out of rhythmic ideas. - Old Dog: New Tricks? or, New Dog: Different Tricks?
This is the way it goes! Incredible Stuff incoming ;)
Yes Ryan, more videos like this please : )
THAT WAS DOPE! I'M DOING THAT!
Such an odd situation where there are programmed visual maps to make sound for beats. Mind blowing if you think about it.
Another great video brother thanks again
probably one of the best tutorials as this will 100% be used! great job guys
Don’t forget to thank them for once a year updates for Reason
Super simple and so cool!
Great video but how do we get those variations onto the sequencer?
Been doing something similar with the RPG-8 for over a decade. Suppose you could insert the ol' Matrix (or two) into the signal chain to add probability.
Wow... Excellent
Density automation is A+.
Show us your achievements, brother
@@BigPharmaBeatmaker nah
Are there plans to make Drum Map available in the Reason Studios Shop? It was before but I missed it.
Nice video thank you 🙂
I hope you guys are having a Black Friday sale for that Suite upgrade.
Second
@@d4yonez On sale right now!
@@ReasonStudios thanks il check it out, I have 11 just not suite, wpipd be nice to get the extra players and instruments tho
Woe!
Well, that's fun.
Could be funnier if Propellerheads weren’t that lazy with updates
@@BigPharmaBeatmaker why are you so bitter about it. Fine you’re upset/unhappy which is fair but why try to kill everyone’s Vibe who has something good to say?
Ryan, Please make the Rack GUI larger/increase the size.
that is dope
Hi, id be very grateful if you were able to clarify something for me : can one purchase reason11intro( including the plugin rack) and subsequently add instruments such as beatmap, friktion etc? Thanks in advance :) m
Sick
yessssssssss!!
Love it, question though. Can you use automation to dynamically change groove?
Amazing. How can i implement it with drum rack on ableton with my own samples?
Just route the MIDI from the Reason Rack Plugin with your players into your Drum Rack channel. Here's a good tutorial on sending MIDI from Reason Rack Plugin to Ableton Live. ruclips.net/video/Bwu9-xEq7wM/видео.html
Ayyyyye👏🏾👏🏾👑
how do you record the beat map on to the sequencer? do you just hit record?
How do you record the beat map into the sequencer?
Can you record the output of the maps to a track as audio or midi in real time
cool film ....i like it ..but its always trap music ....low 808 stuff ..what about techno or trance.
Hey guys could you please make some easy way to pan/move arrangement view like in Ableton when you hold Ctrl + Alt or middle click in Nuendo? It would be a huge time saver!
You just killed every hip hop producer
Hi Ryan, I'm on reason 11. Is that Kong Trap 2 kit standard in the Kong sounds library? If so where can i find it. Thanks
Can beat map output midi? Can you trigger hardware?
Good tutorial! I had to disable my IQ to be able to ignore yet another lame Trap beat but otherwise very good tip.
I did variation programming with the stock plugins, but this is dope to i guess
Beat Map is now a stock device in Reason 11. :) /ryan
Say you start now and you subscribe for three years and you put like £700 into it, then you need to stop it for whatever reason, you are going to roll back to a version that is at least 2 years old. There should be some kind of period of time where after say a year, you roll back max 12 months and after 2 years, you keep the latest release. etc etc - that would seem fairer in those scenarios.
Nice!
Can you do this while using Reason as a VST or does it only work in the standalone version?
You can use players as vst mode.
Yeah this works in the VST too.
Cool cool, thanks guys
It's cool but it's also 74 quid.
Ableton 11 is coming and all the other main DAWS has already surpassed Reason. As a Reason user if Reason 12 isn’t on Ableton 11 level I think it’s time for y’all to shut it down and focus on sound design. It’s either y’all can’t keep with other DAWS or just refuse to give user real updates. There’s big holes that needs fixing and new features that needs to be added. I love Reason I think it’s the best for music creation but it’s sad that it never gets the TLC that it needs to too be best DAW that it should be.
Nah smh
OOOOOOOMMMMMMMFREACKINGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Players can be $tacked ayeeee😌😉
Yes, it's one of the best things about Players, IMO. Stacking them is so much fun and it opens up so much creativity, giving results I would never get on my own. A few of my favorites for such experimentation are AutoLatch and Euclidean added to any player stack.
UGH!! Call me a boomer I guess. Those 'drums' don't sound like drums at all. Sounds like crickets chirping.
Probability in Ableton 11 is better I think, because you can apply probability to anything via the sequencer..
there's a player that does that
Great! Use Reason Rack Plugin VST in Ableton, then. Best of both worlds, right?
@@challism hey man i recognize you from reason forum days! hope all is well
Ryan looks old AF!!What happened???
Lol no he doesn’t (IMO)
How kind of you to point out! I don't think he looks much different at all??
Beards do that. Notice all the kids trying to look older?
Nah he looks good. Looks smart.
I think you meant to say “Ryan, this is a great beat making tip! I can’t wait to use it!”
