Terron Sims - Trump's Plan for Ukraine and NATO is Becoming Clearer, and it's Not Good for Freedom.

  • Whatever mistakes he has made in the war Vladimir Putin has retained the Escalation Initiative, always proving he can push the war to a new level of brutality, with the Western allies constantly playing catch-up, and in many ways placing restrictions and delays on Ukraine in terms of how it fights back. What are the implications of this dynamic for the war and a potential Ukrainian victory?
    ----------
Terron Sims, II is a combat veteran, businessman, political leader, and a graduate of the Military Academy at West Point in 2000. He is the Executive Director of Military & Veterans Affairs for Merit, Chairs the DNC’s Veterans & Military Families (VMF) Council, and previously served as Chief-of-Staff to Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. An Iraq veteran, Terron was key in establishing Baghdad's local governments and was Wasit Province's military liaison officer. Terron sits on the Board of Principals for the Truman National Security Project and is active in Democratic politics. Mr. Sims has served in political roles of increasing responsibility over the past decade. In 2008 and 2012, he was Director, Virginia VMF for Obama and served on the Defence and Veterans Policy Teams. Mr. Sims has published two novels, With Honor In Hand and Hands of Honor, and has written a third along with his Iraq memoirs, Baghdad Peace. He also writes regularly about veterans and military families and national security issues.

@@ericwinter975 yeah, sort of. I’m 76, but as I remember it after 1962 missile crisis until say 1990, both US and USSR developed many treaties, protocols and understandings to avoid nuclear confrontation during Cold War. In the intermediate period, neither nation was resorting to nuclear blackmail, or rather both were trying to avoid that sort of confrontation. This is the nuclear regime that Bush II and Trump along with Putin abandoned, leaving us where we are now. Key moments also involve caving into Russia when Syria used poison gas. We had told them it was our red line. Then Putin sent in troops and air force supporting Syrian dictator. That is the moment that Putin knew for sure we wouldn’t fight. 2014 in Ukraine was the icing on the cake.

Putin is brutal as are most dictators. They have no hesitation to kill people , the democratic countries differ. Most of their people are more aware of what's going on in the world so killing people does not add up more votes at election time.

It's funny, I get the impression Ukraine is taking Russia's presence in Africa far more seriously than anyone else, including the USA. Ukraine special forces are very active in Africa combatting Wagner. The West collectively still appear to be asleep.

    • @johntucker5994
      @johntucker5994 5 дней назад +1

Actually, I think that the U.S. is using Ukraine as a proxy for striking Russian forces in Africa. The U.S. is definitely not asleep about Russia/Wagner's actions in Africa, and by using Ukraine, the U.S. has plausible deniability and keeps the temperature lower than if the U.S. was to act directly.

never heard about that Ukraine is fighting in Africa. I think Ukraine is working to capacity at the Ukrainian/Russian frontline. But of course Europe and US should be more active and careful in Africa, otherwise Africa becomes a colony of Russia, because they can't defend themselves. Not only because of the lack of weapon, also because of the corruption and patronage in most of Africans countries, which makes it easy for Russia to occupy them without war. Unfortunately Canada has a version of the ex-president as a leader of a major political party and another leader who can't grasp the importance of the freedom of Ukraine for all of us.
The last thing 🇨🇦 needs is an isolationist, pro-business and a party whose members are against women's rights, immigration and fiscal care of social programs. Wishy-washy leader and semi-fanatical leader are both poor choices.
The Ukranian diaspora is huge, 1.3 million people.
We 🇨🇦 could be much better at bringing their people forward and telling politicians about what's in store if we keep futzing around, militarily and governmentally.
It's NOT inconceivable that Canada could be a testing ground for Russia to use tactical nuclear weapons and see just how much of a response NATO has.
With that ex-president returned to power, I don't see ANY response by the USA. We're disposable. 😖⚠️😡

Add the actual pharma drugs dished out to so many of those employees, and it's mind-bending to imagine that type of social mania and truly deeply disturbed and sociopathic thinking and intentions of their policies (from separating kids from parents at border knowing there was very low odds of EVER reuniting, bcuz that's how such things work!) If we want to discuss the "Escalation Initiative," then we have to mention Ukraine knocking out Russia's NIP-16 Strategic Space Tracking system, but what you are instead trying to say is that the Kremlin can throw a lot of men and machines at a local ground target.
That's not much of an "escalation!"
Imagine being stuck in Vietnam, able to throw men and machines at a local target, but being unable to control ground (govern) inside it.
From a Western perspective, Putin is simply volunteering to shred Russian assets. It's only from a Ukrainian point of view that a few meters of ground here or there matters.
Kyiv is upset that it doesn't have all territory back under its control already, but that's merely national pride/ego. The West is thrilled that Russia is being ground down in Ukraine. The myth of Russian military prowess has been shattered. The Kremlin has to look at which women's prisons will send more "troops" to the front while Moscow watches its demographics and economy shrink.

Couldn't agree more with Tercon more Trump had a unique opportunity to advance the USA beyond the group think of the two party system. His greatest achievement: Operation Warp Speed he dare not claim. Such a shame. And in the likely event of his re-election it seems unlikely that he will take advantage of his unique position to truly make America great not again but never as before.

Yes. I agree, even Trump would not be allowed to cut Ukraine off altogether. America needs Europe badly and if Russia was allowed to take Ukraine, Europe as a whole would be under serious threat.

Actually carrying out his politics would be monumentally stupid, just imagine the arms lobby when he goes to tell them that they won't be getting orders to Ukraine or other allies anymore, when Trump has undermined every single alliance on which American world dominance is built. So maybe it's just brash rhetoric like last time, but I don't think any stupidity would surprise me anymore considering how people still support Trump after he betrayed all his voters during his first term.
