It takes a lot of time for me to extract the correct audio from my recorded audio, please tell me any method so that I can go bad voice quickly and save the correct audio please help me...😕
I can't find the time shift 2 arrows button to move my trimmed selection
To those who don't want to waste 3 minutes:
- Select part that you want to trim with your mouse
- Edit -> Remove Special -> Trim Audio
Thats it.
How do you cut out your selection instead of trimming everything but the selection?
@@BartvG88 press delete on your keyboard
Unfortunately it's not.
You still need to shift it in time.
If you wont then after exporting you gona have some time of silence before actual music starts.
@@peterSobieraj which seems odd to me. With other editing type programs I've used when you delete something what left becomes the beginning. But maybe there is a practical usage of this feature.
@@accidental_relevance At first it seem odd to me as well.
But I think it does make sense once you start workin with many tracks (like layers in photoshop and gimp).
Let's say that you have audo where you are reading / telling a storry.
And then there are few tracks where you add some efects, like thunderbolt sound, opening door sound, foot steps sound, etc.
And let's say that once you done that you listen to it, you find out that in file with tunderbolt there were few thunderbolts instead of one.
So you cut out all tunderbolts except for one.
If you do that you don't want all other sounde effect to move in time. You want them to stay where they are becasue they are sync with the story.
So I understand thet there is use for that, but still it's a annoying to do shift every time when you work with only 1 track.
Also I found a way to do that with few keyboard presses: Ctrl+T, Ctrl+X, Home, Ctrl+V.
I want to thank you for creating this. I think I come back to it every 4 months when I need to trim an audio clip - I rarely use the program. Please don't ever take this video down lolol
u scare me
lolol
when hes playing the acapellas it always makes me laugh. Hes so pleased with himself.
lol
lmao same
totally best audio watermark lol

Great tutorial, simple and straight to the point! 👍👍
Thank you 👍
Best tutorial ever. I need this cause i be wanting to trim part out and line-it up with my song. Other people made it seem so difficult. Thanks mike Russell
This is fantastic, I'm trimming down Samples for my Circuit Tracks (Novation) as the ones I find are way too long, so for example if a sample goes at 20 seconds that's less samples I can upload to my Synth which has a storage limit. This general overview was very clear.
Thanks
I appreciate the quick content, straight to the point. I will be back to check out more!!!
Thank you for the positive feedback! I'm glad you found the tutorial helpful - looking forward to having you back for more audio editing tips in the future!

I wanna trim/cut various times on a speech audio line... how can I edit the silents parts of speech? thanks!
If you want to just get rid of silent part, then select 1 silent part, and press delete on your keyboard, and do the same with another one, and so on.
Thanks! This was perfect. Clear instructions and concise.
Thank you for the positive feedback! I'm glad you found the instructions clear and concise.
Other people posting "how to" videos should take a look at yours and learn how to do it clearly and concisely. Great work - many thanks!

Thanks mate, this video is very helpful
Thank you for watching, I'm glad you found the tutorial helpful!
One shouldn't have to a google search for instructions on the most basic thing in sound manipulation, editing down a track. Alas user interfaces seem inherently unintuitive, even in Audacity
On the flip side we all start everything with either no or little knowledge and have to learn somehow.
2016 vid still serving us well in 2022. thanks Mike
Look out for fresh Audacity content coming soon as well
Wow thanks for making this so easy

hi.
i try to export my music but it say "audacity have to use lame_enc.dll to create connection to mp3 files or something like that. i have downloaded the dll folder and put it in but still the same problem pls help
Follow the directions on this site. Scroll down for LAME. manual.audacityteam.org/man/installing_and_updating_audacity_on_windows.html
it means the music you are trying to export is lame, dont do it bro
Low key vibing to these acapellas

I enjoyed your video. It was very helpful. Thank you!
thank you, I used this to trim my descending shepard tone into a loop.
👍
Hi, I followed your steps exactly, but when I go to Edit> Remove Special, the only option available for me to click on is "Silence Audio"! The others are grayed out. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
same. I've done exactly what he does and yet it can only silence audio. My luck.
I had this same problem too. Thankfully, with a bit of having no clue what I was doing and fiddling around with things, I found that when you silence the audio that you don't want, it then lets you trim it. Hope this helps!
Nice and clear. I just looking to trim space between two songs or applause!
what about if I wanna actual CUT the track in several pieces?
I dont see a tool to do that
mine the same here
go to edit then remove special then split cut
@@k2wo_ Why is the number one thing anyone probably wants to do with audio in a sub menu....
@@bryantraywick6783 There is shourtcut icon for it next to paste icon. No need to go inside menu at all.
Thanks for this!
👍
thanks mike :)

thank you! I found a song for a villain in my d&d game, but there was this middle part that really didn't fit. Never used audio editing software before today.
Glad to have helped
Thanks , Really Helpful, WOREKD LIKE A CHARM!
Yay!
Hi Mike! Thank you very much for sharing these tips, they are really helpful. Can I please ask for your assistance? I have a mp3 file with hand clapping inside the audio playing over a piece of music, and I need to delete the hand clapping within this mp3 file without editing any of the music or damaging any of the music. Could you please show me how to do that by using Audacity? Thank you kindly in advance.
Hi there! I'm glad you found the tips helpful. To remove the hand clapping from your mp3 file without affecting the music, you can utilize Audacity's noise removal tool to isolate and eliminate specific frequencies.
straight to the point, awesome !!
Thanks Eduardo
Many Thanks.
Thanks man.
👍
Thank you so much!
👍
Thank you!
You're welcome! I'm glad you found the tutorial helpful!
SHORT AND SIMPLE, THANKS
Thank you!
The lovely selection tool?
Agreed how do you select, the fundamental part required and just skipped over
Thanks, I found this very helpful
Trim doesn't work in special. It seems to be grayed out for me. Even after I used the "I" tool to select the portion I want to keep.
It should work as long as file is not read only and you're on latest Audacity.
@@MikeRussell NM. I figured it out. I think the PC itself was just acting janky. I rebooted the pc, updated my drivers, & restarted Audacity & now it does what it's supposed to do. Thanx dude. Great informative vid. Keep doing what your doing mate 😊

Thank you so much ,I didn’t even know how to move the clip so you helped me with two things
