actually that is a Canadian Malmute (an AKC creation) and is not like the wild Malmute except for the weird vocals. Wild Canadian Malmutes do not bark, they yelp like Coyotes. I have seen them. They are used as sled dogs like the husky. AKC dogs are usually not much like their wild cousins. but this type of dog is very intelligent if you do not get them over-excited. if you get them too excited they could become untrainable so be careful.

@@Applecider-Poetry thanks for watching and subscribing Cindy! He does look a little like that bc he's tall, but pretty lean. We should definitely get a DNA test to really find out!

@@hellokimmay not so sure DNA will tell you anything about his wild ancestry. I can tell from living in southern Alaska. if you ever saw a wild/domesticated Malmute like a sled dog, you would see the resemblance. Alaskan huskies look totally different a little more the coloration of German Shephards with longer double coated hair. Wild dogs are incredible. i had a wild husky mix from an Alaskan dog shelter. AKC has no relation with a "breed's" wild ancestry btw. the different breeds are "created" for their looks and training history. NOT for their wild ancestry. the names are just kitch. made up names.

BTW if you stay quiet around a dog, it is better. do not get him over-excited. that can lead to aggression and bad behavior or worse. be as silent around the dog as you can. the excited voice is not good training. you should not have to raise your voice to command either unless it is an emergency. remember if you want a gentle dog, give it gentleness in return.

if you are wise you will feed him human grade food (no sugar, corn syrup or glucose syrup) and plenty of veggies and fruit every day. then, this breed which tends to be "over-bred" will NOT wind up with any cancers. i feed mine organic canned dog food (Tender and True Organic on Amazon and I have heard some supplementation with the Farmer's Dog wet food is good but not organic) and Tender and True organic kibble also. You can scramble eggs for him, feed him fresh fish and chicken. Mine LOVES beans and rice with veggies. And plain sugarless yogurt. pup cups can contain sugar BEWARE the hidden dangers in crowd following. there are basically NO foods that dogs cannot eat. one of my huskies liked hot sauce but thought chamomile was suspicious (close). the littlest one couldn't eat raw carrots, squash or apples. but when they were cooked, he loved them. also, if you know herbs, dogs respond to the same herbs as humans for the most part. i heal all my dogs gut issues with bulk herbs. good luck! have patience and scout out his personality.
