@@wildflower1397I can’t imagine how far in advance you would have to wait to book an appointment with Vanessa when she knows that this dog is going to need the whole day.
When I was a kid, we had a Husky. We brushed her often and always got bags and bags of "fluff" off her. As a result, she seldom got mats, and I think she was more comfortable and happier. She sang beautifully, and taught our Cocker Spaniel how, so we sometimes had duets going. 😂 ❤
"Yeah I got the poop off your butt" Celebrating small victories is important. Again, amazing watching what you do. Such a wonderful heart you have for the cats and dogs.
I chuckled at the comment, "it won't stop. It just keeps coming". I had a very large mystery breed with a lush thick double coat. German Shepard bear mix? When brushing him out there was never a point when I could consider the job done. It truly never stopped. It just kept coming. What a lovely gentle giant he was though.
I had a Border Collie/Aussie Sheppard mix and she was like that. 3 hours combing and bushing, it never stopped. I have pics of piles of fur half her size.
My dog is much much smaller but it’s the same way. I could brush him all day and the hair would never stop coming. Even directly after a groom he’s shedding on me.
Seeing all the soft hair pulled off reminds me of an article I read many years ago about an elderly man who used to collect all the removed hair, "carded" it and then spun it. He then knitted jerseys with it. So soft and warm!
He’s 13??? He looks great for a senior big dog. I’m glad you were able to get him so much improvement. Love the alliteration Malibu the malamute husky mix.
@bunnyluv2535 he's small compared to Key, and he's a Malamute Husky mix also. If you go and watch Key the Stunt dog videos, you would see Key is bigger than Malibu.
Your patience with Malibu was incredible. He really didn't act up as much as I expected, and he did really well with nearly 6 hrs of grooming, especially for a big dog his age. He is really beautiful, and his owner seems very appreciative of the great job you did.
He's a 13 year "old man" and bound to be grumpy, especially if he's had a previous bad experience with grooming. But your patience and persistence paid off and he looks absolutely gorgeous. He must feel SO much better too!! Well done, as always!
Poor poor boy. Almost heartbreaking. He was so good, 6 hours! That is amazing. You are one Good groomer and you are a very good person! He really needed your attentions. Just outstanding!
This is a dog for whom you don't need a brush. You need a garden rake! edit: but in seriousness, maybe an afro pick comb instead of a normal dog brush would make home grooming easier and less resisted?
Really didn’t think I’d sit & watch this video, in its entirety; yet, I did. He was a VERY good boy, for not liking to be groomed, & having an ear infection. Not only those facts, but for the length of time he had to be patient. Great job, young lady!!! 👊🏽
I once adopted a senior dog like this. Ten years old and needed a new home. Unfortunately he was hell for grooming. I don't even know what happened to him before I got him. I was able to (with a TON of extra work) get him to allow me to do most of it but, it. was hard on him and on me. We got judged a lot with this dog by people who didn't know we'd given a senior (uncoropereative) dog a home. Thanks Vanessa for helping this dog out. I wish you'd been around when we took on our Milo. He was a sweet senior boy who for whatever reason from his past just didn't like grooms. This husky came out amazingly well!
Honestly, I don't know if it's past experiences or if some dogs are just intolerant of it. Mine (now a senior) was four when I got him and he absolutely despises every aspect of grooming. All I have to do is pull out the scissors and he goes to hide, and I've never once so much as touched anything but his hair with the scissors! I do groom him myself though, with mixed success. He's a husky mix, so he has the insane undercoat... but the rest is long-haired small dogs like shih tzu and Maltese so his outer coat just grows and grows. His summer haircuts may not be the most even, but when you have to use the longest blade guard possible (can't shave because of the double coat) and have no real experience grooming save a couple times a year... well he looks okay enough. Better than him being stressed by someone else doing something he already absolutely hates, plus other barking dogs, plus crate time (the backs of his teeth were chipped when I got him, probably from trying to escape a crate).
@@marcusu3261 It can be hard on senior dogs getting a full groom anyway. Arthirtic hips and such make it more painful. Sometimes skin sensitivity too. Bless them.
The resigned side eye he was giving you reminds me of my huskies when they know I'm not giving up and they will get fully groomed. But they always feel good after.
I used to watch another groomer who was an "always always shave first" type of groomer. I'm not saying they are wrong. They need to do what they feel is best for the dogs and their business. However, after watching all the videos of you saving coat after coat by just giving the dogs a bath and a chance, it really makes me feel that your way is the better road for the dogs. The fact that these youtube channels allow you to give full free grooming sessions to these dogs that would otherwise lose their coats, is so amazing to know. Bless you and the gentle hands you do so much good with, I hope more groomers find ways to do similar so even more dogs get to walk away from unfortunate situations with their healthy coats intact.
@@user-lk5ud7ux7lwhy do you still watch this channel? You obviously disagree with a lot of it and have zero interest in the stories behind each video. If you dislike this content, it's okay to not watch it.
@@user-lk5ud7ux7l yeh totally agree, that hair is just gonna grow back, its already too long, so a shave would of been way more beneficial. but its for the channel and she is an expert at saving coats etc so although not pratical in this instance its still miles better than nothing and its free. if the owner now gets a proper schedule in place with normal groomers it will be 100x easier for the groomers.
@@TheInnerSession This is a double coated dog--if shaved the fur is permanently damaged. It will actually cause their undercoat to grow FASTER, and damage their ability to withstand cold and heat in the future. It will also leave them prone to sunburns and skin issues. If this was a poodle or Maltese, etc, then yes, shaving is the best way to prevent stress and get them on a regular grooming schedule. But it would ultimately just make the work harder for the owners and the next groomer if he was shaved this time without it being 100% necessary.
This groom should literally win you dog groomer of the year! This was spectacular, and the results were unbelievable. You are an inspiration to your profession, and to people ❤.
He has holes in his coat after you finished and you said you couldn't care less. Malibu could not care less either so that makes 2 of you and that is the best outcome possible. He was feeling (certainly) so much better. Animals don't care what they look like, they know they look fabulous regardless of spots in their fur ❤ Thanks for all you do Vanessa!
Animals - some animals do care what they look like though. I saw a dog once ask it's owners to put its fairy costume on so she could go look in the mirror at her self. It was ADORABLE!
Even though he hates brushing, he dealt with it as well as he could have. I’m sure he was very stressed already from being there so long. Thank you for your patience and helping these old guys feel better!
Bad grooming experiences are so common, our oldest Aussie got to the point after a couple people clipped his nails too short where he would snarl if you went near him with a nail clipper. Even if it was his beloved human. Malibu did so well for a pup who’s had bad experiences!!
The little foot tappies STOLE MY FREAKIN WHOLE HEART ❤❤❤ I couldn’t get enough, everytime he did them I thought for a senior dog he probably has a hard time sitting on his paws and he found way to ease that a little bit. But omg each step made me audibly swoon for this dog such a good boy ! So happy he let you clip his nails !
I'm so glad you were able to groom him this easily, it's amazing. My mom refuses to groom our Great Pyrenees and the groomers around us won't take dogs anywhere near his size, so I've had to learn how to safely groom him because his temperament towards any part of grooming is worse than Malibu's. It's been difficult considering I'm a young teen but watching these do really motivate me and Bear doesn't even need a muzzle anymore, just the gentle leader
wish you good luck! and remember - don't worry about appearances much, as long as your dog is better after grooming and wasn't too stressed during the process, it's already quite a success!

What a good puppy dog. He looked like he was trying to brave through all the things that were not his favorite - the dryer, brushing, nail clippings. Also shows your talent for helping the dogs be calm
Wow, when I saw the thumbnail I actually thought there were two dogs at first. He shedded an insane amount of coat! You could knit yourself a whole other dog with that. He looked so handsome when you finished with him, and on the whole he's really sweet natured, too.
My mind has 100% been opened about pet grooming, watching these channels. There's such a huge aspect of wellbeing-care to it along with making animal friends look their best (though those bandannas are very stylish too :P ).
Goddess bless the owners for taking on this absolutely beautiful animal. The energy and time and expense. Thank you, owners, for giving him a chance. I think you're wonderful.😊 Thank you, Vanessa, for doing what you do for these animals.
I was gonna say the same thing. Annoys me that people get this type of dog, then proceed to not groom it or check their nails or ears. Then once they have been groomed, stroke it in a way, that is going to re knot the fur!

animals understand respect, they love being treated like people
Animals are so much better than most humans❤
This dog obviously knows who he can trust, both were amazing
@@TJay41 wellllll...except for that whole biting the dryer thing😂😂😂
Wow! Given age, ear issue, condition, bad experience and breed he did well and wow what a transformation. ❤
I wonder why they brought him in while he had an ear infection? It seems like the worst time to groom him, because it will be painful and he won't be as patient. Either way, I am glad he will be feeling better soon.
@@wildflower1397I can’t imagine how far in advance you would have to wait to book an appointment with Vanessa when she knows that this dog is going to need the whole day.
❤ Totally agree ❤
@@jeffhughes6167That's a good point. I hadn't considered that.
What a good boy. What a distinguished gentleman.
Even directly after a groom he’s shedding on me.
german shepherd/bear 😭😂
I have a peketsu and she’s the same!
@@jeffallan3140 infinite fur glitch

Dad’s reaction made me emotional, I’m glad he’s so loved. 13 wonderful years! ❤❤❤
That was the best part ❤
yep. that is a well loved dog!
I haven't watched the full video but I love knowing there's an owner reaction. They're always so wholesome
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍👍👍👍👍❤
Your patience with Malibu was incredible. He really didn't act up as much as I expected, and he did really well with nearly 6 hrs of grooming, especially for a big dog his age. He is really beautiful, and his owner seems very appreciative of the great job you did.
He is absolutely gorgeous. I love his coat and the little tapping he does with his paws. The Tapper. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
❤My 93 year old mum says "that's a good program." We love our Girl With the Dogs. xxx
He's a 13 year "old man" and bound to be grumpy, especially if he's had a previous bad experience with grooming. But your patience and persistence paid off and he looks absolutely gorgeous. He must feel SO much better too!! Well done, as always!
Who's taking the extra "hair dog" home? 😁🤣😂
The dedication this woman has is incredible! The amount of hair that came off him is insane and you could make another Husky from it.
We had huskies growing up, they loved getting brushed. Especially in spring. Do it outside. Let the wind take it away. Birds love it.
His little frustrated stompy steps are adorable 🥰
Poor poor boy. Almost heartbreaking.
He was so good, 6 hours! That is amazing. You are one Good groomer and you are a very good person!
He really needed your attentions.
Just outstanding!
Wonderful work really well done
What you do for those dogs is truly commendable. Thank you for being there for them.
His face reminds me of KISS. Thank you for having the patience with this lovable senior😍
He’s like ‘what’s that coming out from me’.. as always, Vanessa did an amazing job grooming him
Did anyone else cheer when the first clump of hair came loose with the dryer?
Yes her in person vibes and connection with the animals looks incredible even just watching on you tube
“Mah floofs!”
This is a dog for whom you don't need a brush. You need a garden rake!
edit: but in seriousness, maybe an afro pick comb instead of a normal dog brush would make home grooming easier and less resisted?
That was like pulling cotton candy off him. What a good job! And...he did great for a dog that doesn't like being brushed.
Malibu is being so patient! He had to be feeling better throughout his groom to let Vanessa get the job done. Good boy, Malibu!
Bless them.
(uncoropereative) ?
@@keithwarrington2430 Good lord, I must have been very, very tired. I CAN spell, I promise. lol🤣
The resigned side eye he was giving you reminds me of my huskies when they know I'm not giving up and they will get fully groomed. But they always feel good after.
Wow….6 hours is alot of time its honestly crazy what you do for the dogs so thank u for being so kind to them
For a dog who didn't liked to be brushed, he handled it very well.
15:03 And there it is, the moment that I was waiting for. We get to hear the song of his people.
If they get this bad once, it'll happen again. Get them on a regular shave schedule and save the dogs 6 hour extreme stress sessions.
@@user-lk5ud7ux7l especially a 13 year old
@@user-lk5ud7ux7lwhy do you still watch this channel?
But it would ultimately just make the work harder for the owners and the next groomer if he was shaved this time without it being 100% necessary.
the owners take such great care of him, he looks gorgeous and healthy
Holy mother of fluff 😮
This groom should literally win you dog groomer of the year! This was spectacular, and the results were unbelievable. You are an inspiration to your profession, and to people ❤.
He has holes in his coat after you finished and you said you couldn't care less. Malibu could not care less either so that makes 2 of you and that is the best outcome possible. He was feeling (certainly) so much better. Animals don't care what they look like, they know they look fabulous regardless of spots in their fur ❤
Thanks for all you do Vanessa!
if only humans were a little bit more like this!
Sounds like you might have found your calling. Best wishes!
You have a great love for animals, respect for them and ability to understand them. You have the patience of a saint! This was an amazing dog to tackle. I feel privileged to witness this dogs’ transformation and your compassionate care. ❤❤❤
The really nice thing is that the owners can see how you were with him and can appreciate your grooming even more especially after his bad experiences
i was thinking the same thing!!😇
I truly love that you take the time to do transformations like this for the pets that couldn't find the help elsewhere. Thank you for doing all that you do. Your truly amazing ❤
28:43 I work at a doggy daycare and that's about the same amount of hair that we sweep up over a couple months with about 40 dogs.
😮😅my gosh
I really love how gentle you are with every animal you groom. It warms my heart.
What a healthy boy! He doesn't look a day over 6, especially after you got all the extra fluff out!! Outstanding job
To have had a bad experience his behavior is excellent and to have an infected ear he is highly cooperative
not exactly. He is a bad boy and misbegaved tbh
I thought he handled the brushing much better than the clippers. And he was great at the nails considering the owner's warning. What a transformation!
watching this video and how hard you worked transforming this doggy, you earned a new subscriber! 🙂
Oh my gosh! The amount of hair that came off of him and his transformation is stunning! A big congratulations to you Vanessa for all of your hard work. 👍👍👍
What a sweetheart? For not liking grooming and being brushed out. He is doing pretty well. Thank you for taking such good care of older guys like Malibu.
Thought so too. Especially since this breed is notorious for being a brat 😅😅 just the goodest boy who was hurt by someone in the past😢

I bought one of those high velocity driers for my malamute. It’s wonderful & helps keep her fluff from getting matted between groomings.
I love how as soon as the oner sees the dog, he starts petting it in a way that will absolutely re knot the fur
I was gonna say the same thing. Annoys me that people get this type of dog, then proceed to not groom it or check their nails or ears. Then once they have been groomed, stroke it in a way, that is going to re knot the fur!

@@mariehomma1205that being said he’s an old dog who is in an amazing condition. So they have done quite a lot right. As for the infection, sometimes they could be antibiotics resistant which prolongs the infection and makes get worse until you find the right medication. Happened to me with a UTI and had to be hospitalized because it got to my kidneys.
@@mariehomma1205Vanessa pointed out in the video, as dogs get older it can be harder and harder to groom them. We have no idea what the owner does with his dog, but he certainly loves this dog. We also shouldn’t shame owners that bring their dog to be groomed, it discourages them. Show a little thoughtfulness.
