I had a very similar situation. Found a GSD at a county shelter (high kill) who was super friendly. However, she had mange and a hernia and was already scheduled to be euthanized the next day. I spent the day trying to convince them to let me adopt her. Went back the next day to make sure they did not do the eu-deed. Finally on my 3rd trip, they decided to let me keep her. Two days later their vet fixed her up, including the hernia. Two days after she went home with me. Had her for 11 years.
the way other dogs eyes were longing for a home it tears my heart i just hope all the dog in this world get full love and a home where they will be taken care
@@ani9603 actually that's how a lot of pet parents grief...I've worked at the shelters for years and majority of the new volunteers are pet owners who just lost their pets..also the same reason I started to volunteer because I lost my cat of 18 years from cancer. I wasn't ready to adopt another animal again but wanted to help out other animals to fill the void.
@@ani9603 It's the least I can do, the animals at the shelter really helped me heal too. They're honestly the sweetest, hope more people are willing to provide them with a safe, loving home ❤
@@ellenmuseum because there are too many dogs, all the shelters are overcrowded, and no one can take them, so they have nowhere else to send them and don’t have the capacity to deal with all the new animals coming in every single day. Spay and neuter your pets, because overpopulation means more animals will die on the streets or in kill shelters.
@@S1wwy_pawz It is only legal if the animal is sick or injured, however it is heartbreaking they wanted to euth that poor dog because it had a treatable runny nose.
OMG that german shepherd is beautiful! currently I have 15 dogs, 11 of them are fosters from high kill shelters, pulled from the euthanasia list at the last minute. You can tell every*single*day how grateful they are with me, their smiles are everything anyone could ask for. They know they got a second chance at life, and they let me know how thankful they are.
@@PROBSLOZER I basically organized dogs by size and temperament. Taking them in groups makes things a lot more manageable. I feed and take all the small dogs together, then the medium size one, finishing with the large ones. Sometimes large dogs doesn't like other large dogs, so those that are not dog friendly I take them separately.
Thank you for not bashing the shelter. Kill shelters are NOT the problem. They're the ones left trying to manage an impossible situation made by other people.
Well, many kill shelters actually have no problem euthanizing, even when they have space. One I often foster dogs from in NM has a director famous for saying 'I'm not running a hotel'. Really depends on the shelter. But yeah... until there are real consequences for breeding and spay and neuter legislation, the situation is dire, unfair and inexcusable. Humans are incredibly selfish.
After our two fur babies passed we adopted from the local shelter. $35 save the life of Ms Maple Bar. The sweetest and most joyful and dog loving German Shep I’ve ever seen. She’s so smart too!!
My wife and I went to an adoption fair. I arrived at the fair organization and asked "what is the worst case you have?". They chatted a little, offering the beautiful animals that were there at the fair. But I insisted. And had. Our darling is called Brave, with two degenerative diseases and a history of domestic violence. Many hospitalizations, medicines, care and more or less 5 months to live. 2 weeks later my other dog passed away from complications due to old age, his name was Zuma. Both very loved and cherished. Just do it. I don't do it for me, I do it for them. Stop negotiate with excuses.
Totally agree. California NEEDS to do way more to help these animals. Much stricter spay/neuter laws and crack down on backyard breedersThanks for showing just a fraction of what goes on in California shelters.
Yeah California is insane It's just as bad as the shelters down south. It's because I don't prosecute animal abusers and yes plenty of them don't spay and neuter animals and they just let people go back in and adopt animals that constantly drop them off even if there have been abused or starved etc etc It's pretty gross
California is over run by liberal politicians that have destroyed the state with their policies. High crime, high poverty, illegals and homeless everywhere, drugs running rampant. Gang violence, criminals running free in the streets. These are the exact ghetto environments that perpetuate animal and child abuse.
Texas is really bad too… Every day they are euthanizing pregnant dogs, pregnant cats, puppies, and kittens… A shelter in Houston just euthanized, six newborn puppies and their mom because there aren’t enough homes for them, and people are too stupid to get their animals fixed
some of the dogs shown in the beginning are absolutely beautiful. I wish I could get more dogs from shelters but I already have a lot of animals. Poor babies deserve homes
@@tee_theethat’s not what they said they said some of them were beautiful, they never said they wouldn’t adopt an animal they didn’t consider beautiful
@@tee_thee not what i said AT ALL no idea how you got that. I commented of how beautiful those dogs were and then continued with another statement. don't even know why you replied like how the actual hell did you get that from "I wish I could get more dogs from shelters but I already have a lot of animals. Poor babies deserve homes." The last part refers to how shelter dogs need homes. hope this helps
@ahzigos @meghasinghaniahmu I poorly worded this. I meant that the shelter dogs that were shown were beautiful; I SAID "i wish i could get more dogs from shelters..." which means I wish I could adopt more dogs from shelters (if you can't read) and i said "poor babies deserve homes" which referred to my comment on how i wish i could adopt more shelter dogs, ultimately meaning that I wish more shelter dogs got adopted. hoped this helped.
A few years ago I saw the HBO documentary "one nation" : dogs. They showed how a kill shelter works without censoring. That film devastated me emotionally. I will never watch that again. It is soul crushing for the people that work there. The dogs know what is about to happen to them , and you can see it in their eyes. You did a wonderfull thing by adopting, thank you.
I can tell you ONE THING: I´LL NEVER WATCH THAT DOCUMENTARY. Like, NEVER, EVER. If I did, ¡¡I´d probably be like 3 months, or so, completely overwhelmed with sadness!!
Yep, we should all be pushing for stricter laws concerning animals… Such as mandatory spaying and neutering, and only licensed breeders should be allowed to breed
@@truthbetold4350 Those LAWS are already IMPLEMENTED IN SPAIN. [Bear in mind, I´m NOT bragging about it. I´m NOT even saying whether I agree, or not, with them, ¿ok? I´m ONLY GIVING THE INFORMATION].
I instantly cried when I saw all these dogs in their kennels, who couldn't come with you. But I'm so happy that you rescued, that precious girl. Wish you all the best. You two are going to have a lot of adventures and fun in the future.
As someone from a country with high animal rights and protection (Germany) it’s terrifying to know that there are countries where animals get killed in shelters. Shelters are supposed to be safe spaces where dogs can stay a foreseeable time while they wait for a new home.❤
kill shelters are actually very important. it helps with overcrowding and overpopulation. a lot of the times the dogs on red lists are good dogs but have many issues like reactivity, health issues, and trauma.
@@elleelle4591 do any of these points apply to the dog in this video that was supposed to be put down? Anyway it’s no solution to the real problem in my opinion. The country needs to do something about uncontrollable breeding and reckless ownership of dogs. Something like a dog license has helped in others countries.
I agree with you completely, but we are in country that is a wee bit bigger than yours. Another problem I noticed is that most shelters require the adopter to have a fenced yard. Breeders don't. I've had dogs most of my life with no fence and no problem other than you need to supervise them outdoors rather than just letting them out and any dog that's "a runner" would need to be leashed.
@@elleelle4591 that's evil. No dog except the ones on their last legs have "issues" that would warrant the death sentence. if those shelters attempted euthanasia crimes in most European countries and even in India they would be prosecuted.
I saw on Instagram one day where Ikea in Italy open their doors to stray dogs for the winter and people who were shopping at IKEA decided to adopt dogs there while they also shop to buy their furniture. I wish large stores across the nation such as big chain grocery stores would do an adoption event once a month. There are so many people who go grocery shopping with their families who are thinking about adoption. It would be a one stop shop where families can shop for groceries and also adopt a pet. This would help relieve many animal shelters as well as reduce stray dogs roaming around in neighborhoods. I remember when I was little my dad took me to K-Mart and there would always be someone who brought kittens there for free and that’s how we got our first pet. If Ikea can do this is in Italy, local stores could do the same to help many animals needing a home, but I don’t think stores in America would?!
I think one of the issues doing this in America is the lawsuits. Big stores won't have untrained animals (especially dogs) in them for fear of getting sued. Small businesses such as independent pet stores may be more likely. I think if you live someplace with good weather, you may be able to organize an outdoor adoption event in an area of a grocery store parking lot.
Impulse adopting is not good, if people want to adopt they can make an effort to do so. You shouldn’t be able to get a dog while you are buying a carton of milk. Dogs are a big life changing decision, hence why so many are GIVEN UP. People don’t know how much work it is. They think it’s like the 5 second videos in tic tok or the well trained dogs that are in the movies. They are also expensive, there are a lot of factors you need to consider before getting an animal. (This is coming from someone who is a dog lover and dog owner. My life changed significantly since having a dog, and I am happy for it. But for some people the changes could be too much. Potty training, going for walks, going out to play, finding someone to watch your dog while you go out of town or finding a way to also take your dog. Feeding, buying toys etc. all this costs time and money. As I said I am more than happy to do this and more. If my dog can’t go with me somewhere then I’m not going, I haven’t seen a movie at the movie theater in 5 years. My dog makes me happy. But do not assume others think this way.)
You can adopt at Petco. 🤷 Cat cafes and lounges in the US such as Crumbs & Whiskers and CatCafe Lounge in LA also tend to be run by rescues, so if you like a cat at a cafe you can bring a rescue cat home right there.
Hi, I am from Japan. I live with three beautiful rescued dogs, and recently I adopted another one, so I have four dogs now. I enjoyed your video so much! But it was also heartbreaking when I thought about how if you and your friend hadn’t found the German Shepherd dog, she would have been killed. She is such a calm dog, and it didn’t seem like there was any problem with her, but she was supposed to be killed if you hadn’t saved her. That’s awful. We are all happy you saved her. Here in Japan, we also have a lot of dog issues. Many people still buy dogs from pet shops. I learned from you, and I decided to never give up on posting and sharing my opinion on my Instagram. It might be small, but it’s better than doing nothing, right? I also thought I would like to join a volunteer program and learn about the US situation regarding dogs when I go to California this year. Thank you for this amazing video!!❤
You are the type of person who deserves my utmost respect. I have two dogs who are also adopted from the streets. I sincerely hope that more people chooses to adopt rather than buy. Edit the GSD you adopted looks like my own half-gsd at home.... I'm in tears knowing she might have been killed if you didn't get there soon enough
I have to admire the empathy that you have towards an animal that other people view as just an “animal.” The way you view her as someone on the same level as you and that’s why she so quickly gained trust. It’s amazing.
I live near the Riverside Shelter, I often volunteer there and it completely breaks my heart when I see those pups. My parents recently decided to adopt a dog from there, and one of them looked like her kennelmates! Sending love from California ❤
Omg I'm constantly watching the riverside, San Jacinto, and thousand palms shelters. The stories of some of these dogs breaks my heart. Although I did read somewhere it's around $200 to give up a dog, tho some are brought in as found dogs. There should really be something done, there's so many 🥺 and a lot of people who get dogs without understanding their needs, especially puppies that they have no patience to train
You can be an animal lover without being a vegan. Ignore the militant vegans trying to guilt shame you. You do what is most important for you, which is volunteering for shelter dogs, which is an amazing thing to do. Thank you for helping the dogs.
I’m vegan and have dogs and cats, cats are obligate carnivores. I feed accordingly, I even cook chicken 😭 for my girl Jojo when she is sick. If they say I’m no vegan because of this then that is their issue. I’m just trying to do the best I can. And do the least harm.
We adopted a dog from a killing station (they're very rare in EU but they exist) and this was the most insane dog I ever met. She would not let you touch her at all or she'll probably bite you. She would defend resources like crazy and she couldn't stop peeing inside. We had her for 10 years and we loved her a lot. Sure she made some improvements but some things we could never change. The people at the shelter told us about her life as a street dog in Spain and then she got adopted but she already defended her resources. The new owners staring beating her to make her stop but it only got worse so they gave her back to the shelter. She never got adopted again and she was very aggressive in the shelter environment so they made the decision to give her to the killer station. We actually wanted to get a "normal" shelter dog but my Mom just couldn't leave her there so we took her instead. It was 10 crazy years, in the beginning she bit all of us but she started to trust us more and more. When I was a teenager we sat in the garden and I read stories to her because she didn't like to be touched still. She died of old age in 2015. RIP my little girl. I'm so happy you could live with us.
We have two dogs. I adopted from a no kill shelter and one GSD that was only 2 years old abandoned by the owner. Both dogs lives like King and Queen. We give them the most expensive dog food you can buy on the market!
It is not about how expensive it is, quality also cost less many times, I think ou are just stupid and wasting money. Like, maybe it would need that wasted money on some kinda vet bills or something, soo stupid. Food is food.
Thank you for not bashing the shelter. I used to volunteer at a no kill shelter close by and believe me, Riv county shelter is doing the best they can considering the situation. They are the main animal control for the ENTIRE Riverside county, which is huge, since many smaller shelters like blythe and hemet have closed down during to low adoption rates. Riv reaches out to nearby rescue organizations and fosters basically begging to take their dogs when its close to their euthanasia dates. Being the county shelter, they have to abide by laws and put them down. If you talk to any worker there you can immediately tell that they are truly animal lovers and doing what they can to help. Its just an unfortunate situation. Ps. PLEASE FOSTER if you can’t adopt ❤❤
C'est à l'Etat de faire un effort, comme dans un grand nombre de pays ! Tuer le problème n'est pas une solution ! Je déteste cette mentalité eugéniste, trop typiquement étasunienne !
So many say this. I adopted an American Bulldog from Baltimore City SPCA that was to be euthanized in 4 days time. Therefore, her adoption fee was reduced to $1. That was the best dollar I ever spent. She was 6 when I got her and left us 4 years later. It wasn't enough time. She was my favorite dog of all time. I miss her every day. The shelters are overwhelmed. People have to do better! These are living, breathing, loving beings that are not disposable! I've rescued over 18 dog's in my lifetime, usually having5-6 at a time trying help clean up the mess that humans created!
Seeing bigger influencers on the internet speak out about adoption/ restrictions on breeding/spay and neuter makes me so happy. People are STILL continuing to promote buying dogs and cats that are bred horribly that cost thousands of dollars to millions of fans. Edit: and the foods you are feeding!!! Wonderful!!! Always promote healthy eating in dogs and not brands like pedigree and over feeding.
“Do what you can, where you are, with the resources available to you.” One of my favorite quotes and reminded me of this when you talked about volunteering and helping out at the shelters. No one person can do it all. Bu if every person did whatever they could do to help, the world could change. ❤
She seems like such a sweetheart! Thank you for saving her. This video made me happy cry. my heart goes out to all the people who help save dogs like her who need a chance.
I'm also in SoCal. Our shelters are way overcrowded thanks to breeders. Years ago, when I was looking for a dog, I saw an ad in cragslist from a shelter volunteer saying Please come rescue this sweet lab - I can' t get her extended any longer! The shelter was fairly far from me and I made it just 10 minutes to closing. I met her, in the dark, and went to the desk to register as an interested party and told them I'd be back tomorrow. But when I came back with my husband, she wasn't at her kennel! I was livid - they had a ready adopter, how could they! And I went to the desk in a panic and they said, oh no she's ready, pull up at the Pick Up area. I was so relieved and happy. She looked like a red fox lab, and she was one of the best dogs I've ever had. She loved every minute she was alive, every person, every dog she met and she was super silly. Every dog I've had since her has come from one of the SoCal overcrowded shelters. If you think they're doing a crappy job, go volunteer, make it better. You would not believe the endless stream of dogs and puppies being dropped off every day - but don't shame the people dropping off dogs, at least this way they have a chance. And volunteers make all the difference.
Don't ever feel like you have to explain your lifestyle choices to people. It's your life. At the end of the day, the only person we have to answer to is the one we look at in the mirror. You genuinely spread love, joy, positivity, and realness to your family, friends, fur babies, and your channel followers. You do you and wish nothing but the best for the naysayers. 😊👍💕
i'm so glad that she didn't just say ´´adopt don't shop´´ but instead actually talked about regulating breeders and stricter spay and neuter laws! Adopt or shop responsibly.
@@starcatcher3691 it’s not just “shopping” for animals. Real breeders don’t get any profit- their point is to populate well bred healthy and emotionally stable dogs
@@starcatcher3691 still getting a dog from a shelter is unpredictable, but a breeder can predict the puppy and find the best owners. Shelter dogs are way different in a home than in a shelter and not everyone is responsible and smart enough and can afford to get a shelter dog.
You are such an angel, thank you for making a difference in one animals life. It’s sad how dumb videos get thousands of views. This video needs more likes and views!❤
I always tell people to adopt instead of shopping when it comes to dogs because the shelters have such wonderful dogs just waiting for their forever homes. And at the moment, alot of shelters are full capacity-which means they are filled up with dogs. I adopted a pup today from them..I am going to name her Josie-she is a 6 month old Husky mix with a very calm demeaner, friendly and just downright beautiful. She was the first dog I saw-and the first one that I was 100% on adopting. And I've been searching for over a month or so. :) The shelters in my area have wonderful dogs..but some of the dogs I saw I wasn't 100% in adopting. When I saw Josie in the shelter today, I was in love immediately with her. I love how dedicated this wonderful lady is in volunteering at the Animal Shelter on Mondays. That is awesome and it needs to happen more often.
I just submitted my application to be a volunteer after this video. I'm scared of commitment especially when I know I'm not home enough to give the pet quality time, but this video reminded me that I can still offer some form of help even if I can't adopt or am not ready to be a dog owner. Thank you for sharing this courage, Weylie :)
I'm scared of dogs because of a past accident when i had as a kid, but i've always wanted to face my fear by volunteering at a dog sheltet so i might also actually do it ☺️ i hope yo find a place nearby me
Weylie, thank you so much for doing this! I adopted my anxious German Shepherd/Lab mix from a kill shelter and it's been a journey but the best decision of my life. he's the sweetest boy and I'm so glad to see you advocating for shelter dogs. so many happy tears to see Luna at home with her new family
This content is so needed. I would like to add that adopting shelter dogs takes a LOT of patience. I adopted 2 1/2 years ago. He is fearful reactive. I was in shock at first but sprung into action to educate myself and advocate for my dog. I helped him build confidence and I'm so proud of how far he's come. There are so many resources that are inexpensive or free to help. I would say aside from raising children, this has been the most rewarding experience.
I live in this area. My honey and I find babies roaming the streets all the time. We do our best to always find them homes because of all the kill shelters. My heart wouldn’t be able to put them in that situation. Ty for sharing ❤
14:05 every dog broke my heart, but when I saw this dog my heart just shaterred and i started sobbing... she / he look so hopeful, so ready to give and recieve love... it just breaks my heart
She is a beautiful example of a Golden German Shepard Dog. They're very rare. She looks almost identical to my dog. And very similar to dog named Patty on Rocky Kanaka's channel named, 'Sitting with a dog dumped in a drive by...' Thank you for saving her.
I would be bawling my eyes out. You are so strong. I wish that I could be, too. I have foster failed four dogs already. You are helping all of those animals so much. Thank you for using your time in this way. 🥰
I LOVE you encouraging people to just do one, small thing if they can't do anything else. People get paralyzed with the size of so many important tasks but forget that every big thing is made up of lots of little things and that if we all do our one, small thing that we're able and ready to do, we could have a HUGE impact. Love your attitude and hope you keep doing what you're able and sharing and encouraging others and lovin' on those precious fur babies. Be blessed!!

THANK YOU FOR SHOWING RIVERSIDE ANIMAL SHELTER!! I follow the rescue page that helps put the word out for the animals there and there are SOOOO many dogs that need homes and sadly so many euth’ed 😭😭😭 I wish we could save them all
@@sarahjane4772one of the Facebook groups I follow (Coachella valley) posted that they will no longer accept stray cats. they're considered community cats and the San Jacinto shelter has a working cat section. They want to focus on cats that need rehoming, not street cats. I read comments that either support this or are against. I see both sides. Wish more people knew about the trap/release programs to help reduce populations. I remember a McDonald's in Riverside that had a colony in the parking lost when you went there after midnight. I counted at least 30 cats
I respect and appreciate you mentioning breeder licenses. More places need them to help cut down back yard breeding. As a kid I couldn’t have a dog so I used to watch and make treats for the shelter pups. Now that I finally have my own I try to volunteer as much as possible to share some of the love that my boy gets everyday.
Loved the vlog. I rescued a dog 26 years ago when I got married and she lived with us for 18 years. I missed her so much that I told myself I would never replace her. I felt so alone without her. I work from home and she was my work companion every day. I went back to the shelter I rescued her from a year after her passing and brought home another baby and it was the best thing I could've ever done. It's been 7 years with my baby. I will always rescue I'm actually considering getting another one. 😊
Thank you for shining a light on Riverside Shelter! So important to demonstrate how packed they are with dogs, that even the one you saved was sharing her small kennel space with 2 others. Most people don’t even considerate shelter dogs when they are some of the best pups out there!
I used to volunteer at our local shelter. Every time I think of what goes on in animal shelters my heart breaks for the dogs, cats and other animals. I'm so glad you helped adopt this cute GSD. She will add bunches of happiness to her new family's lives, and they will give her the happiness she richly deserves. ❤❤❤❤❤
You are such a good soul, Weylie! I am a huge advocate for abandoned animals, I had been volunteering at the shelters and taking foster care of cats, dogs and rabbits for years. And I also have 3 adopted animals at the moment, one dog who is so similar to Luna (just smaller) that used to be a street dog and has three legs because of the injury she endured as a puppy living on the dumpster and two cats, one has been with me for 15 years and another one I adopted last years. I am such a fan of your work and of you using your time, resources, platform and voice to raise awarness and help animals
Weylie, you my dear are doing a wonderful job being a compassionate and sincere human being. Thank you for all you do, and saving this beautiful shepherd who is now having a great life.🐕❤️👍
This video makes me soooooooo happy!!!!! I live in Canada but follow the Riverside shelter very closely. I advocate for the Belgian Malinois that end up there. Thank you for doing what you are doing! If I lived in California, I'd be there everyday. ❤
yes please share more of your journey as a volunteer at animal shelters etc!!!!! We need more awareness on this 😢 And I love your gentle yet reasonable approach as to why we are all not perfect and we should not wait till we are "perfect" to do small good actions that we can do. And also when you can do nothing sharing the post helps too even if you feel like you don't have a lot of followers but you'll never know. I totally agree!!!! The way you are so patient with Luna (waiting for her to get in the car etc) is also something we could learn from. Love your last point too, we must not forget to take care of ourselves too so we can take continue to take care of others in the best that we can. I think this is important for people doing rescue works because it sometimes is truly saddening and draining for you all. It's a sad reality and we can't save all but still, we have to realize and accept the fact and continue to take care of ourselves and mental health so we can continue saving or helping to the best that we can. Weylie just know that you inspired me to volunteer at animal shelters too. I love you! 💖💖💖 (Luna is absolutely beautiful I was watching halfway and wondering how could anyone abandoned this baby 😭)
She's beautiful.🤩 We have a white German Shepard and we love her to bits. Mine loves to lay on me or sit on me all the time lol. They truly are great dogs. They say dogs don't smile but I say bologna, mine smile all the time, hehe. Thank you for saving her life. May your friend and her new fur baby, have many happy years together. Congrats to the new dog parent 😁. Such a good girl already. Lovely name for a lovely girl.
Thank you Weylie for sharing your honest thoughts and being vulnerable to us 🧡 No one is perfect and we can't satisfy everyone, but we do what we can to help others and especially animals who don't deserve to be unwanted. Glad Luna has found a furever home!
It's so beautiful when I see a rescue being taken to their forever home, my eyes tear for the ones left behind but one person can't take them all. It's incredible how quickly they start to feel comfortable and safe. A lovely new beginnings, blessings to both of you and to the start of a beautiful life together.❤🙏
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved this video. I lost my rescue pit a few weeks ago and your content about grieving has been so helpful to me. When I lived in LA I volunteered at Angel City Pits and it was the most amazing experience. Thank you thank you for promoting rescue dogs ❤❤
More volunteer videos please! Thank you so much for sharing. I’m on my 6th year of rescuing and fostering senior dogs. I hope this inspires us all to make more of those small but impactful changes ❤❤❤

i first started out doing community service at an animal shelter that turned into volunteering as soon as it’s done. i work full time as a server in a restaurant and i still make time on my one of two days off to wake up at 6 am to go to the shelter. its changed my life. i love working with all the dogs and knowing im making a difference while they wait for their forever. what your doing it great ❤ thank you for saving that good girl
Thank you for doing what you’re doing! You have the biggest heart and it’s so sad to see how many pets get abandoned after their owners realize just how much work it takes to have a new fur member. I wish ppl were more aware and thank you for bringing awareness to this problem.
I’ll be 100% honest with you. This has inspired me. My first dog (A large beautiful and healthy black German shepherd ) I adopted from a backyard breeder off of Craigslist because I was young and didn’t know much about shelters or ethical breeders. All I knew is I wanted his breed and.. that was it. Watching this video has shown me that there are dogs in shelters that aren’t the “abused, problematic, reactive, mutts” that I was led to believe through family or friends. And that there are wonderful potentially perfect family dogs just sitting on the kill list. And I know that my next dog, and the one after that, and the one after that, I will find in a shelter. ❤ So basically thank you, because this “unimportant” video has just saved every dog in my future.
Finally, God's beautiful creature found by wonderful human. Many thanks & respect for adopting & taking a very goodcare of this dog. As well as thank you for voluntaring at the shelter. Lord Jesus bless you abundantly. Amen amen amen 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 *I am your new subscriber
This is so awesome of you, she's a beautiful girl! We adopted our GSD from Riverside shelter back in 2017-- you could tell even on the car ride home how much more relieved she was. Thank you for doing this!
So sweet and kind!! I volunteered for two years at a shelter….giving the scared…and no will adopt me.…dogs….was quite an experience. Originally it was one day a week, that all changed to 5 days a week…I looked forward to it…the dogs looked for me too…Thank you for pulling the Shepherd out….💕🐾💕
Thank for showing up like you do Weylie! I had gone to the shelter so many times last year and it really saddened me to see all of the abandoned animals. And when I would foster the dogs the staff would send them with anxiety and depression medications, it breaks my heart to this day knowing what they go through in hopes of being adopted. Please adopt, and if you can't even fostering can help!❤
I had a very similar situation. Found a GSD at a county shelter (high kill) who was super friendly. However, she had mange and a hernia and was already scheduled to be euthanized the next day. Why wouldn’t they let you have her immediately if no one else wanted her?
the way other dogs eyes were longing for a home it tears my heart i just hope all the dog in this world get full love and a home where they will be taken care

HEARTBREAKING TO SEE THE OTHER DOGS SCHEDULED TO DIE.
😢for no reason
@@ellenmuseum because there are too many dogs, all the shelters are overcrowded, and no one can take them, so they have nowhere else to send them and don’t have the capacity to deal with all the new animals coming in every single day.
She is a beautiful dog. And seems well mannered. They need to give dogs like that much more time. All the time in their natural lives
Thank You for saving them.

How are you managing with so many?!, I’m asking because one day I want to do the same thing!!
Yes but Riverside is very high kill. So many never make it out of there.

Exactly and there needs to be rules for having dogs!
THIS!!!!
Texas is really bad too… Every day they are euthanizing pregnant dogs, pregnant cats, puppies, and kittens… A shelter in Houston just euthanized, six newborn puppies and their mom because there aren’t enough homes for them, and people are too stupid to get their animals fixed

I have never heard of this documentary. I'm watching it now though.
HBO is DEEP STATE … I totally understand … DONT WATCH
I can tell you ONE THING: I´LL NEVER WATCH THAT DOCUMENTARY. Like, NEVER, EVER. If I did, ¡¡I´d probably be like 3 months, or so, completely overwhelmed with sadness!!
Yep, we should all be pushing for stricter laws concerning animals… Such as mandatory spaying and neutering, and only licensed breeders should be allowed to breed
@@truthbetold4350 Those LAWS are already IMPLEMENTED IN SPAIN.

As someone from a country with high animal rights and protection (Germany) it’s terrifying to know that there are countries where animals get killed in shelters. Shelters are supposed to be safe spaces where dogs can stay a foreseeable time while they wait for a new home.❤
Countries like America and Canada are nowhere near as civilized as their propaganda makes them out to be.
kill shelters are actually very important. it helps with overcrowding and overpopulation. a lot of the times the dogs on red lists are good dogs but have many issues like reactivity, health issues, and trauma.
🤎
Yeah. In turkey animals walk free. Can ride on public transportation. Everyone loves them no one abuses them.
Give her enough attention, cuddles, kisses, cookies, walks, play, or so much more to be able to enjoy her life 😭 she is so Beautiful
Good on you. I have three rescues here in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
More volunteer videos please. You truly are doing great work and thank you for highlighting the issues with breeders and neutering

I mean, dogs aren't vegan
So true
You are an angel. Thank you for everything you do for those darling pups, you really are making a difference.

“They have to abide by the law and put them down “. I wonder who made this law?
I’m 71 y/o and have had shelter dogs since I was 15. I’ve loved each one more than the last. They’re the best companions and are loyal to the end❤
My god all of those doggos are such cuties wtf 😭
That is awesome and it needs to happen more often.

yes please share more of your journey as a volunteer at animal shelters etc!!!!!

They say dogs don't smile but I say bologna, mine smile all the time, hehe. Thank you for saving her life. May your friend and her new fur baby, have many happy years together. Congrats to the new dog parent 😁. Such a good girl already. Lovely name for a lovely girl.
I wish more people were like you in this world. Beautiful inside and out. Animals are so awesome.
Thank you so much young lady for saving this dog's life. God bless you and your new pup
She's so gentle and calm, even in completely new situations with strangers. I hope she has a beautiful, healthy, and fulfilling doggy life 💖
Thank you for spreading awareness about animal shelters! I love that you're taking your time out of the week to help out animals in need!
You and Wah truly have golden hearts ❤
I love ❤what you're doing for these precious dogs. I wish more people volunteer and foster. Good video 👍
Hi! Just ran across your channel. This is a lovely video. I really appreciate your sensible, calm, thoughtful take on actionable change.
woke up, opened youtube, now crying. thank you for saving this beautiful angel
The riverside shelter is actually a nice shelter, I’ve been there before! I’m glad your friend adopted her, she’s so cute
It’s beautiful what you did to help Luna and what you do to help shelter animals. Hoping I can do the same soon!
More volunteer videos please! Thank you so much for sharing. I’m on my 6th year of rescuing and fostering senior dogs. I hope this inspires us all to make more of those small but impactful changes ❤❤❤
I find that so sweet of you to adopt her. Your heart is so big and it made my heart so full💞
Weylie didn’t adopt her. She was helping a friend whose at New Jersey adopt the dog.
omg crying already before i even watch this video 😭😭 bless your heart weylie ❤ she’s such a sweet girl
Thank you for being compassionate to adopt this dog. She found the best home!
Omg not me falling in love with the grey pittie in the shelter 😭
we started fostering kittens with our local shelter during covid; it has been one of the best things ever. thank you for sharing and bringing awareness to all the doggos in shelters
i first started out doing community service at an animal shelter that turned into volunteering as soon as it’s done. i work full time as a server in a restaurant and i still make time on my one of two days off to wake up at 6 am to go to the shelter. its changed my life. i love working with all the dogs and knowing im making a difference while they wait for their forever. what your doing it great ❤ thank you for saving that good girl
Amen amen amen

Your patience and kindness with her is so heartwarming to see x
i started crying at just the title. wow you did it again weylie. you saved another life
