Dodge dakota is the best body ever. Just ordered seven. 😂 It is nice to see a non jeep based. I don't know if you remember the proline. Dropped a Moore's minx style body for the 2 wheel Drive slash in the early thousands. Everybody talks smack but I saw a whole bunch of them at the local basher spot.
I really like the Dakota body! I was a Chrysler tech for many years so it's special to me. I do see that it probably will not be that popular though! At least it's not another jeep! I'm thinking this would be a good prerunner candidate
Harley, you've been at the SNU for a while now, and I never miss a week. It is fabulous to see you still having a ball with your tounge in cheek commentary with current releases, and I value your opinion as an industry insider engaged with the highest quality segment of the market. Keep up the good work, and keep grinding the knobs off your tires! Body choices versus the Dakota? That's easy, I'd like a mini-me of my '09 Ford Ranger. If I'm not mistaken, it was the last compact fleet vehicle that didn't get bigger over the 2000's, and is still a body on frame, unlike the newer crossover-with-bed unibody offerings which all come with infotainment garbage and digital nonsense galore. I'll keep my hand crank windows and vinyl floor am/fm equipped 2.2l standard workhorse until it rusts right through, thank you very much! P.S. I just looked at the Dakota more closely, and I gotta say, it is a nice fit with the bumper (was unable to order that item) they have it paired with. someone else said It could be a good candidate for a pre runner and I still haven't built my Beams kit up yet....Hmmm.
I like the dakotas myself, I’ve had a few of them but I’m glad they finally came out with a body of one. I’d love to see some other dodge bodies, like some old dodge truck bodies 60’s-70’s.
As far as new bodies, I live back door to Tahuya ORV park. I've been seeing a lot of people using the little Ford Ranger cabs on their custom builds out here. We deal with a lot of trees. So small is king. I've built two 2 door jeep Cherokee cabs, and straightened out the bed front. They can fit on a K5 frame. Gives lots of room in the woods. Basically anything to get rid of that square body. Have fun all.
Rocken my 02 Dakota 4.7V8 for over 15years and running strong. Best of the best small size trucks......when was the last time you saw a S10 or Ranger of the same year? You don't the all die'ed a long time ago but the Doges are going strong.
I used to own a 2003 Dodge Dakota about nine or so years ago. It was a $500 crapbox, but it was my crapbox. And I absolutely loved it. So much I've considered buying another one sometime in the future. So not only does it hit close to home for me having owned one, it also is nice to see a different type of vehicle rather than the usual stuff thats been out there.
I'd like to see an American cab forward designed body. Yes the unimog is overdone, I'd love to get a 1957 Jeep FC, a 1965 Ford E100 econoline, a 1964 dodge A100, or a 1965 Chevy Corvair Greenbries sport wagon.
You should see the Vitavon Spoked Promoto Rims. They look like the Warp 9s Rims and the Excel Spoked Rims I use on my YZ450F Motocross bikes. They are also a few dollars cheaper. I have them on Myu Promoto. I bought the black rims with chrome spokes. They have all kinds of color variations. They are sick!
As an owner of a Dakota that definitely hasn't been registered in at least 6 years and has definitely toted it's fair share of scrap I was hurt at first but then felt a little bit cared about when you asked us to check in! 😅
They did the ram charger for a minute, but it was a removable top, 1/2 depth interior deal that was a fairly nice body. But expensive so it was only in production for about a year Kinda wish I would have got one.
I would have totally bought the Proline Dakota body to build a “Here’s my toy car.” I had a love/hate relationship with a 99 dodge Dakota up until about a year ago when I totaled it. Now I daily a 97 S10 ZR2 and it really bugs me that nobody makes a crawler body for the gen 2 S10, that ZR2 really caught me off guard with how capable it is, and I really want to build a “Here’s my toy car,” especially now that we have decent IFS kit options.
Me and my dad both have zr2s, and I also have a 87 square body blazer 4x4. I'd get a blazer crawler body, the only one I've ever seen is kinda janky looking. There is a Tamiya Baja S10 that exists, but it's closer to 1/12 scale. And being they haven't been in production in 20-25 years, they are hard to come by these days
Lol. I had a Dakota R/T. The only special one. Did a frame off resto on it. I wish the front flares were more scale on this because I’d like to replicate an r/t. That being said, I’m buying 2. Because they will be discontinued as soon as the first orders ship
I like the Dakota body, but I did own one awhile back that i bought for $500. It was actually a really nice truck. It was cool having a V8 in a smaller 2wd truck. It would roast the tires in 2nd gear lol. I want a 2nd gen S-10 body, something like the green truggy built on Xtreme 4x4
we don't make em anymore, but when Ford Australia and Holden were operating they sold small pickups with some pretty nutty V8's, check out the HSV maloo, a pickup the size of a nissan maxima with a 5.7L LS V8, no weight over the rear tires makes em pretty fuckin' wild lol.
Best thing about the Dakota was a v8 in a small package. (not saying the v8 was a good v8) Would love to see a standard cab s10 or 2dr s10 blazer. We have enough extra cab and minivan options at the moment.
I think that it will go well with the elements with IFS. I think that a ram 2500 of that year would be a more sought after body. Just glad to see variety!
Hey Josh when will you be adding your send cut send bend and weld aluminum seats? When is vanquish website going to add any chasing tiny truck stickers. I got my new hat but couldn't find any new stickers. Thanks Josh for the positive news station, the only news station I actually watch.
I love the fact that they came out with the Dodge Dakota. If I had something it would work on I’ll get one I’ve seen a lot of people on Facebook dodge Dakota pages actually talking about it and they actually love it.
You are right with how most Dakotas are now, besides the ford ranger what is the most budget built mid size pickup. 85-94 s10 set of straight axles, junk yard 305 or if you are frisky 350 maybe 35s with cutting. If you grew up in the country you either built, worked on , rode in or know a guy with one. Still not my style but better then a Dakota
I love the dodge dakota. My first truck was a 2001 4.7L. It was a great truck and I miss it. I will be getting the proline body to paint as my truck was.
We owned a 99 Dakota, it wasn't bad, wasn't great either. Probably won't buy the proline body, but yes it is nice to see something that is not another Jeep or Toyota. Now we just need an S10 to go with the Dakota, Ranger and Tacoma, and we can have the full set of small pickups people keep until they rust away or are totaled in an accident.
The Dakota isn't something I'm personally interested in, but alot of people in alot of the FB groups out there are happy about it. I think it'll be successful.
I totally want that Dakota, though it still isnt a 1st gen one like what my dad had when I was growing up. Would love to see a first gen Dakota body, along with first and 2nd gen Ram bodies.
I have an r/t dakota. And have been wanting this body for a while. But only to build a lowered 2wd build like the 1:1. However I agree as a crawler option, it's not really a popular option.
Looking at the FMS 1/10 graphic, all I can see is that the front passenger wheel is about to leave the chat. Proline Dakota: If you have ever complained about too many Jeep/Bronco RC bodies, this is entirely your fault. What they should have made is a 60s GMC pickup.
I love the 90s Dakotas and Rams. Looks wise anyway. Buying one in the midwest is very cheap. Mainly due to the fact that you get more rust than actual truck.
Dude.. Matt already preordered the Dakota.. I say they will have a Christmas clearance sale on them 2024. There is one where I live, but it's done up pretty nice.. so I know they will be ordering one.
I don’t see the Dakota body lasting very long or being very popular. It’s extremely niche, but I would to see a 1961 Chevy Apache 10 truck body. The ‘66 C10 body seems fairly popular, so the Apache would be a cool addition. I own an Apache, so it’s basically a case of “I own this vehicle so I want an RC body of it.”
I dig the dakota body as I had a few of the real ones and they were great trucks. I really miss my dakota r/t version, lol. Proline should do a Chevy Luv body next, lol
My brother and I picked up the Hammer Rey’s, I wasn’t even looking for anything but he talked me into it 😂 pretty sweet truck to me! Hopefully it doesn’t mean it’s going to get discontinued…I’m wondering if there’s any parts that are likely to break so I can find them before they can’t be found like our Vaterra Twin Hammers and Glamis Fear buggys, there’s a few parts for those that are really hard to find…
Hammer Rey rolls easy. Just the nature of the beast. There is a RUclips video from a gentleman that helps get suspension geometry correct. His changedimproved drivability not much money. It's a great car for a great price! I bought one of each color.
@@kevincain6843 yea that’s what I was thinking, I’ve been watching a lot of videos on it. I’ve been into rc for like 12 years now and never bought anything new like this so I’m pretty excited for it and it’ll be even more fun since my brother got one also!
@@mikes062 It does not take much persuasion for me. All I need is one person to agree with me.😂I love losi specialty motorsports vehicles. I have been in RC since 2005 and a big Losi fan then but out of it for about 10 years. It was all about racing when I first got into RC. Get back into it now and everything thing is about crawlers and bashers. I took to crawlers right away. But bashers breaking things on purpose is still a mystery to me. I will watch others like Kevin Talbot do it😜. I recently bought an xmaxx locally and the owner took it swimming im guessing (said he got it wet) then put it away for months. Motor bearings seized a few are dragging and screws rusted. None of my cars will ever see water except maybe a thin layer of water near a rocky creek or somthing. At least not up to the ends of the axle.
@@kevincain6843 the only thing I put in water is my boats 😂 the only other Losi I’ve got is a mini T 2.0, it’s a really cool truck though, and it helps I found it a pawn shop for $30 😂😂 my brother has a few Losi’s and really likes them though so we’re excited to go rip these in some dirt and sand! He’s got a track that we run our Slash’s on so they’ll be on that for sure too!
I do like the Dakota body, i wish it was a 1500 body but oh well. I do have a question for you. Did Old Time RC close up shop. His website is gone. I need to get a few parts for the portal boxes i got from him. Thanks dude!!!!🤘🤘🤘
I used to drive a Dodge Dakota and Dodge Ram SE Short Bed... Wow I'm pretty salty now, because "USED TO" has a high stress on that statement. I admit, I saw the Dakota body announcement from Pro-Line and I kinda want it, but it's a want and not a need right now. I shall wait.
For a worse transmission the the scx iii I’m going with the stock wheely king trans. I put so much work into that trans to try and make it work back in the day lol
As far as bodies I’d like to see: Jeep WJ Grand Cherokee (yes, I know there were hard bodies made… but finding one now is next to impossible, and I don’t want to spend as much as I have into my real WJ building a scale version). Early 90’s Nissan Pathfinder (proline already has/had a king cab D21 truck… making a pathfinder shouldn’t be too hard, right?!) Second Gen Nissan Xterra (the one with the funky, round headlights) Ford Excursion (they used to make one for the T/E Maxx trucks… I want a scale version!
I actually like the Dakota, but to answer the question, I think anyone should make basically any International Harvester body. Hugely untapped area, only Redcat does Scout bodies. A pickup, travelall... It would be cool
The thing about the Dodge body is the fact a lot of people including myself like the look of it. It doesn't matter that the real version isn't good. RC is about playing and not about actually needing a reliable truck to get you home at the end of the day. There are loads of things that I like the look of but would never buy. If they end up in RC its a different story. It's just a sheet of plastic after all and I don't need it to do anything but look good. I think people will buy it. It looks good.
Would love to see the spoke tension meter for the wheel building on the Losi Moto, I assume they do not have a proper tension, but just tightening up the nipple. Curious on the spoke and nipple size.
To answer your question. Very few of the American trucks are ever seen on the road in Australia anyway so basically if it’s a good fit it will be used . If you ask me what brand I would prefer then it’s a Japanese vehicle as often seen down under . Probably a Toyota . The warlord looks ok at first impression ?
I’d love to see a nicely detailed S10 body from them. I think they used to have a square body s10 option if I remember correctly but I’d love a round body option
I feel like the Dakota isn't taken as seriously as it should. I mean you could get a V8 in a small truck, and you could get one with in a manual and 4wd. The front suspension really sucks, but that's about it. And the glove box latch.
I tune in to hear Josh sh!t on things that other people like. I appreciate how he can't comprehend that others may have opinions that differ from his, and that he does it with a smile.
I just realized your intro music is from how it’s made. Also I can’t wait to scale out one of these Dakotas! Nope I’m not okay. Call it a mid life crisis.
I think the Dakota is cool only because it finally thoroughly gets dodge in the scale game. I'm looking forward to see what dodge or dodges follow this body.
I think proline shouldve done a two piece cab and bed body of the '50 chevy truck they have for the basher side or gone completely different like I've suggested before and done a old Studebaker pickup two piece body. It's time to see more two piece or cab only body options or new never before done vehicles all together.
How about a Dakota R/T drag body or NASCAR body? I always liked the look of the Dakota R/T’s growing up in the 90’s maybe because of the illusion of how much power they might have had. My cousin had an R/T and it was fun to drive, especially when she wasn’t in the truck. This Dakota body on the other hand looks like the shabbier V-6 version with the little bitty wheels on it that make it look like those little Pygmy goats when it’s seen next to a full size Ram
I'm trying to think of a reason to buy one, besides just paint it up like my 01, peeling clear coat and all. Just looks to narrow for anything but a comp rig.
Never laughed harder 😂 surprisingly enough I have seen these caged and SAS On the trails. Proline could have been a little more to scale with the sizing but it is interesting to see that released. If it had been cab only and a new bed truggy cage I would have been more interested. What’s next ? A Chevy S10??
Seeing the Dakota made my day 😁
I owned a 1977 Dodge Macho Power Wagon that looked really good. I wish there were more Dodge rc bodies. Remember the ‘80s tv show Simon and Simon?
The Dakota isn’t bad, but it’s no Corvair wagon!
I agree we need some Morvair inspired builds!
I like the dakotas. Need a scx24 Dakota body
Dodge dakota is the best body ever. Just ordered seven. 😂 It is nice to see a non jeep based. I don't know if you remember the proline. As far as bodies I’d like to see:
Jeep WJ Grand Cherokee (yes, I know there were hard bodies made… but finding one now is next to impossible, and I don’t want to spend as much as I have into my real WJ building a scale version).
Early 90’s Nissan Pathfinder (proline already has/had a king cab D21 truck… making a pathfinder shouldn’t be too hard, right?!)
Second Gen Nissan Xterra (the one with the funky, round headlights)
Ford Excursion (they used to make one for the T/E Maxx trucks… I want a scale version!
It's a k5 blazer, and it looks amazing. I can't wait to get my hands on one. Proline should just come out with an Isuzu trooper or LC76 body
Had an 04 Dakota quad cab, loved that P.O.S. 😂
I actually like the Dakota, but to answer the question, I think anyone should make basically any International Harvester body. Hugely untapped area, only Redcat does Scout bodies. A pickup, travelall... It would be cool
I like the Dakota, but then again I bought Covair wagon too.
Just curious why you prefer the secondhand thumb steer over regular four-wheel-drive steering?
Dakota for the win. Bought one as my first vehicle showroom fresh in 1992 right out of highschool.
Also I have been waiting on the scx24 gladiator v2
Got to see the brass 777 at CSRTE this psst weekend, extremely impressive servo.
The dakota body would be cool for the ifs rigs, or maybe for a 2wd street build.
The dakota body isn't bad, I'm not a dodge guy but it looks decent. Does look slightly small compared to the tires.
Would love to see the spoke tension meter for the wheel building on the Losi Moto, I assume they do not have a proper tension, but just tightening up the nipple. Curious on the spoke and nipple size.
Lets see a 1983 GMS Vandura (aka A-Team Van). I have to say that I would buy one and with all the other van's out there, it would blend in just fine.
The Dakota is better looking than the Ranger. As for another body release I’d love to see a Datsun B series body
Wooo owned two 04 and 07 both in I silver I know what colour my body will be painted
First off on the Dakota- we ised to have a local family that ran one as a pro mod and monster truck.
The other oddball I wanna see is a MR2 pro mod...
I'm absolutely going to do a Dakota with the twin I beam suspension
100% agree on the Dakota.
Whoa! New camera? The footage looks great!
I think the Dakota is cool only because it finally thoroughly gets dodge in the scale game. I'm looking forward to see what dodge or dodges follow this body.
That Dakota is dope because it's different
Well, you could detail the bed with catalytic converters and other scrap metal...
I for one love Dakotas. And since we have the buck for the front end, I say they should also make a Durango body from that generation.
I think proline shouldve done a two piece cab and bed body of the '50 chevy truck they have for the basher side or gone completely different like I've suggested before and done a old Studebaker pickup two piece body. It's time to see more two piece or cab only body options or new never before done vehicles all together.
I like the Dakota. Would love to see a Nissan Xterra!!
Yes.
I love the dakota body. Wish they wouldve done a first gen dakota though so i can make my old truck in 1/10 scale
2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad cab.😊👍
That Dakota made my day too
I have a 2003 Dakota with 80k original miles on it… a little rust since it was a Northern truck at one time 😂🤣😂
I'm trying to think of a reason to buy one, besides just paint it up like my 01, peeling clear coat and all. Just looks to narrow for anything but a comp rig.
awesome as always, should do square body suburban
Never laughed harder 😂 surprisingly enough I have seen these caged and SAS On the trails. Proline could have been a little more to scale with the sizing but it is interesting to see that released. If it had been cab only and a new bed truggy cage I would have been more interested. What’s next ? A Chevy S10??
