And Retract enters the arena….only a few more big names to go tell the mini market has taken over, price point is king and the minis are the gate way drug of the hobby. Got me hooked….big time, now I have almost all the scales (1/32-1/10). The crew and I made a fun club too😎.
Who else is left?? Horizon hobby, team associated, Traxxas, fms, and redcat now off the top my head. All the good ones are in!! 🦾🦾🦾 Micro RC worlds thriving!! 🥹
Josh bro! I wanted to say you being from one of the leading companies in crawling and giving a compliment to another company shows how good vanquish and you guys really are! This video truly made me think about what a great hobby this really is! Great great video here and the editing with music and all was all that!!! 🎉
I love RC trucks, so if I get a new toy that I like then I have no problem saying it! I do have high standards that people then assume is just a brand bias but it's just that I am a little picky :)
Great to see redcat back in the micro game, and especially with such a sweet little rig! I will definitely be grabbing at least one and buying that cage file as well! Thanks for great content!
That cage you did totally changed the look, I love it! I think when Redcat said they had some huge drops this month, they meant it. Even at $119 this thing is gonna be a deal!
Love the custom look! Never thought I'd say this, but I ordered my first Redcat. Got a blue Ascent 18 coming from Amain Hobbies this week. Looking forward to downloading your cage.
You make it look so easy, it every thing you work on just turns out so cool looking, amazing love watching your work. You always come up with awesome ideas.
@@bobzilla9p0 it likely would just need a proper redesign. Trial and error isn’t very time effective in these situations and usually ends up with poor design.
The only complaint I could make about the Redcat - Ascent 18 is the front axle does not have replaceable c-hubs. So once the c-hubs bushings develop slop & need replaced, the entire front axle housing has to be replaced. It also means there is no way to install aluminum or brass c-hubs for more durability. Just a minor gripe but certainly expectable for a budget level crawler in all honesty.
I bought a gen9 about a month ago. Had one shock go when I lost the lower cup, the shifting servo went bad, and I lost the front passenger u joint. I'm still gonna keep her 😂. Company was good about sending out parts.
With that box of upgrades you can do some sick personalisation! I like how you set it up! Funny how the brass ones look like the Aluminium and vice versa 😂
I like the cage for it, that is pretty slick and makes it look completely different. I ordered mine to play around with, sadly no big box of extras but it will get some upgrades!
I am really in love with micro crawlers from what I see on youtube and this one looks great. I wish I would have money to buy one and get into crawling. But unfortunately I live in Romania and I can’t even afford a micro crawler. Life is certainly harder in the balkans.😢
Something that I found looked wrong about the body is the low hanging/ extended skirts. I figure they did it to reach down far enough to meet the tops of the skids. But really made it look like the body was an after thought. Made the cab look out of proportion. Your cage mod, however, did a nice job of remedying that, somehow without trimming the skirts back. Well done. 2-3 hours though.....ouch. I think one could hand build that out of styrene or ABS or Acrylic rod in much less time. But, hey, if tech is yer jam, it's yer toast. :) Looks super cool!
It took me an hour to design then I let the robot do the work. Then it also gave me a product I can sell hundreds of times and allow people all over the ability to have it with minutes worth of effort. Tech for the win 😁
I bought the Cayman pro szk 2 weeks ago and then i bought this today, kinda cool having the least and most expensive rtr on the market. Im excited to see how much they compare and contrast also where can i buy that cage from you lol
Great upgrade video! I just don't know if I like micros. I have an SCX24 Deadbolt and a TRX-4M Bronco, but they mostly stay up on the peg board.I even shoveled out a micro 4x4 trail out in my backyard, but it only held my interest for a few weeks it seemed. Funny thing is, living in the midst of the flat farmlands of Carthage MO(I know you can relate), it'd be easier to present challenges for micro crawlers, but 1/10 scale just feels more substantial. Now, if only I could dig down and find caverns under my land! 😂
I'm having a hard time deciding what to do with those goofy fenders. I don't know that I want to add flairs but cutting them all the way off would leave some funky lines too.
@@HarleyDesignsInc I was thinking you could trim the fenders back some, leaving just enough meat to attach 'bolt-on style" fender flares in black to match the cage. The recessed side markers molded in the body could pose a problem with that idea though, since they're so close to the fenders. Either way I don't doubt you'll come up with something and even if you don't, you still made it look so much better already. I love it personally.
So I am heavily invested in 1/24. I've resisted 1/18 for the past couple of years and refused to buy into that scale as I didn't want another scale to start stocking up on parts as well but the dang market is REALLY making it hard for me to keep resisting. What is everyone's thoughts? Am I doomed to start buting 1/18 size products now??
Mid video..... you mentioned "how long will the stock plastic transmission gears last?" I immediately thought of Josh, 10 years ago (I've followed you for even longer!)...... And I imagined that would have taken you less than 10 seconds to thrash that gearbox!! 😮 You were the guy who frequently broke Wraiths and Bombers. 😅😅😅😅
man i really wish they came out with a Plug and Play version. i don't need more transmitter, and would save cost as well, so long the don't use proprietary radio protocols on the receiver.
The dude's goin' live in 30 minutes or so. I'd buy a superchat, say what city you're in and ask if someone can print it for you locally. The Harley community is pretty rad. If nobody is near you, let me know. I'll do it, but there will probably be shipping and shit. Might be cheaper to find someone off FB Marketplace or wherever to do it.
Geez! So how much is that $100 truck worth now? Especially after you got out the scanner, scissors and 3D printer! Nice job 👍 and excellent wheel tire choice!😊

The truck looks so good now, and I really enjoyed getting a quick glimpse of the 3D printing process of this mod.
Redcat should give you money and market this version with the cage!!
I love this bodywork now. 😍
I'm sure that the topless style won't be for everyone but it's a fun little change up!
Red Kitten 🐱
Definitely seems like a missed opportunity on the naming!
The cage looks awesome !
First time I've tried printing it for this scale. Glad the gamble worked out!
This is one of my favorite releases so far this year. My first crawler ever was a gen8 axe. I'm definitely ordering one of these
Great to see redcat back in the micro game, and especially with such a sweet little rig! I will definitely be grabbing at least one and buying that cage file as well! Thanks for great content!
I ordered a grey one for 1/18 comp class and Holmes makes 180 torque master motors so im gonna see if it does any better before jumping to a brushless
You know what, I think I actually have some of those motors on hand! I totally forgot about that!
That cage looked awesome...
I'm a sucker for some cage work!
@HarleyDesignsInc the body proportions are a bit off and that cage really fixes it.
My rc senses are tingling I feel vanquish 1/18 or 1/24 scale plus 1.0 machined wheels
We need a comp ready 1/18 scale crawler with dig.
That cage you did totally changed the look, I love it! I think when Redcat said they had some huge drops this month, they meant it. Even at $119 this thing is gonna be a deal!
This is a solid drop for Redcat. I'm happy to see them improving their line up.
Great to see you reviewing the small scale! Looks like a great truck
Hmmm. VRD18 in the future.? Lol😂 oh and the music WAS VIBING !!!!
I love picking music for some reason. Sometimes it just hits right!
Looks like a Hit !!!! Thanks for sharing and giving me ideas for the backyard course.
Grab a couple of them and competing in the backyard could be a great time.
I just bought one im pumped and pretty amazed with the huge pile of parts they sent you
Love the custom look! Never thought I'd say this, but I ordered my first Redcat. Got a blue Ascent 18 coming from Amain Hobbies this week. Looking forward to downloading your cage.
Nice to see one being built right out of the gate, but what really makes your videos stand out are the cameos by the cats
Looks great
You make it look so easy, it every thing you work on just turns out so cool looking, amazing love watching your work. You always come up with awesome ideas.
Thanks! Even though I was sent the item for free, cutting the roof off can still be a little nerve-racking!
I absolutely love it and think redcat knocked it out of the park with this. Especially for the money. No one else seems to offer anything better.
A little rag top and an interior would have it sitting super nice!
👍
it looks great and I like your mods , thanks
Nice little rig by redcat. It's good to see other companies coming out with small-scale rigs. Now we just need one by my favorite brand... Vanquish!
Excellent! I just bought two, one for my daughter's birthday, one for me.
Looks like a good truck, love how you changed it up at the end and looks great!
impressive as usual from you!!!! 👍👍👍👍
You too can do this at home if you are a genius engineer with a 3d scanner and printer. Awesome just awesome!
I enjoyed this video watching the last part with the cage work.
Awesome cage…look good on the 1/10th scale also!!!
I only have the two-piece body for the Ascent (1/10 scale).
You could probably scale it up with some measurements and maybe one trial print to get it right.
@@bobzilla9p0 it likely would just need a proper redesign. Trial and error isn’t very time effective in these situations and usually ends up with poor design.
Bro, elevated that redcat real quick. Amazing
I ordered mine today plus it's big brother too.
That cage came out great!
I bought one at the introductory price…. And immediately spent just as much on upgrades 😂
That will be a perfect sized rig for the indoor course you seen us working on at A- Main's new race complex a couple days ago.
Most definitely a great size for the indoor stuff. That new course is going to be awesome, I can't wait!
Cage, dude. Now I want one. You also need to upscale the file, then release both for sale, plz. ...... along with your interiors. You kill it!!!
The little one is on my site now. For 1/10, it would take more work than just upscaling. I also only have the two piece body version.
Definitely want that cage, an interior would be sweet too
I'll definitely knock out an interior this week too.
@@HarleyDesignsInc where did you say the file for the cage was? The link was missing when I watched your video
@@joshfowler197 I’ve updated the description with the link now.
Damn Josh you took that ahhh looking truck and made it darn sweet !!! Excellent vid 👍🏻
It's a nice truck but the body was just a little off to me, this look definitely makes me happier to stare at!
Looks amazing, after the conversion! 👍
I just picked up a scanner for my rc 3d printing as well. What spray are you using? Great Video, Thanks for the help!

I think it looks way cooler for sure!
That cage is FIRE!!
That cage looks great 🤘🍻🤘
Dude that looks sick with the mods!
Looks awesome, love it
I was sent the same lol. Kinda went different but similar brass upgrades. Nice custom additions!
I like the cage for it, that is pretty slick and makes it look completely different. I ordered mine to play around with, sadly no big box of extras but it will get some upgrades!
If I was spending my own money, I'd grab the front knuckle parts and leave it at that. The rest of the parts feel just fine in stock form!
@@HarleyDesignsInc thanks!

@@HarleyDesignsInc what filament did you use to print the cage?
what wheels and tires are those very slick
i wonder how compatible it is with fcx 24 hardware
That came out Awesome!
I like the cage setup good job
Do you mind sharing your printer settings as well as infill level for this print? Just purchased. TY.
I’d have to go look, I’m using default print settings on my Bambu X1 Carbon at a .2 layer hieght
Looking forward to the cage file, but dont see the link to the website, and didnt find it in the thingiverse link. How is it coming along?
That’s my fault, I forgot the link. It’s been added
I doubt it will show up on thingiverse...🙄
There’s a lot I’ll let slide for $99, but the aftermarket parts make it harder to forgive at some of the prices.
I bought the Cayman pro szk 2 weeks ago and then i bought this today, kinda cool having the least and most expensive rtr on the market. Im excited to see how much they compare and contrast also where can i buy that cage from you lol
Redcat needs to have a UK distributor!
Man that looks cool!
Are they really aftermarket parts if they came from the manufacturer?
What’s that scanner tool called ?? And what kind of 3d printer do you use ?
That’s the Revopoint Pop3 Scanner and Bambu X1 Carbon.
Could that cage be resized to work on the 10th scale body?
Hey that looks awesome question is there any way to get the roll cage if you don’t have a 3-D printer ?
Would you be willing to print some... for the 3d printerless?
Heh, I'm waiting on some Jconcepts Tusks for mine, should be here tomorrow 🤞
Is that the Revopoint Pop 3 scanner? I have that one in the crosshairs, lol...
Yes it is
@@HarleyDesignsInc Thanks man, is there a seller here in the US or only order direct from manufacturer?

Can u scale that cage up to 1/10th scale? I would like to have that for my full size ascent
Josh, does a trx4m transmission fit in there?
Also how wide is it compared to your comp trucks?
That cage was impressive. Print out some proper fender flairs and maybe even a grill, and that body could be perfect.
