I used two 2s batteries wired together in parallel, from a WL toys micro drifter... I double stick taped one on each rock slider... 800mah split pack...
I just got a single 660mah running mine, last time I had it out, I ran it for almost 4 hours and only changed out one of the 450mah once (I had a couple 450mah's that wouldn't quite fit in my 284161). Because I'm using the smaller batteries, I've got them velcro'd to the top of the slider one one side, with the esc on the other side.
I have the green in mine I cut some of the front parts out of the green in the front and left the rear normal works really good same tires in mine as well
I've been having issues getting it to properly compress with even cut up yellows. I have Injora crawler 1.0 tires (62mm) and Injora beadlocks with brass rings, as well as full brass portals. When I first got these I ordered a set of greens for the back and yellow for the front, but now I'm wishing I had just gone yellow all around cause yellow ain't quite soft enough, at least not with these tires.
@hikingphotog maybe the tire inner diameter isn't big enough for them I have some dj crawler 62mm and I saw that the insert was squished a lil bit and they wasn't working either the black label tire lgrp is just right fitment other than that issue trying to find a tire fr them they're good better than the 1.9 ones
Been watching all of these Ascent18 videos as I have bought my own and I wonder if this brushless kit (and the base rock sliders) will fit into the Injora IR40 body now that they have given us the ability to attach it to this little crawler. I already have 140 dollars worth of parts and accessories on a wishlist, but I want to get my electronics and motor upgraded first. lol
Any chance you can do an updated furitek app basic set up with these new micro motors? All the stuff you do with the ascent18 in this video pretty much.
is there any point in the throttle curve where the motor visibly jerks the truck forward as if its missing a few steps between speeds? i know some of furiteks stuff has that visible change in speed not an undetectable increase in speed with no instant changes in speed. its hard to explain but some of furiteks stuff has multiple speed thresholds and it jerks between them. right after typing this question your video answered it lol
oopha... still expensive. i'm still holding my breath for a competitive to come but i also fear that if one does come, they will price it the same and we won't have competition; same as with most of the mini's they are all priced the same and competition isn't reducing the price. good vid. good attention to the detail about the lack of slop in the drivetrain. most portals have some and this ascent is less than fms while the furywagon had the worst slop i saw
Hi @Capecrawlers. I am looking to start getting my son into this type of hobbie. What would you recommend as the first brushless setup? He has been bashing with an FTX Truggy (Brushless) but I would like him to slow down and learn to control them a little better. So looked itno Crawling as an indoor and outdoor activity? I was looking at the TRX4m or Scx4 but I would like the car to grow with him (modifications etc). Thank you.
Hi adam, Im looking to upgrade my scx24 gladiator (with the v2 electronics) and is like to upgrade the Electronics to a brushless motor using that combo. I wasnt sure if i had to get a new remote, but since the ascent uses the same remote as the v2 electronic gladiator so im not sure if i need another remote.
Literally lol. I have been able to get it down to 110-115 just by loosening the screws holding the tranny together and the diff covers. Freed up the drivetrain. Still seems a bit hot tho
It's more capable then the entire market, full rtr, and it easily out prices 90 percent of the market. This $100 rtr made a built scx24 look like a waste of money
@@frebify yea if you build flex crawlers which are not capable at much of anything really personally id wait for the second or third release of the acsent 18 when they fine tune the issues it has.
@@frebify oh and btw the hobby plus evo pro is the best rtr and what everyone should get thats not into scale and more into capability its already got a lcg angled skid chassis with portals
@@petejones6827 That could be the way it goes. But the second or third versions could get worse. More $$ and cheaper parts. Especially if the bean counter dept. gets involved.
The katana is $200 and comes brushless with portals and an aluminum skid, etc. Basically more than $100 in upgrades which is the same or less than you’d spend building up a redcat
I run mine on the injora esc & 3s lipo, and it's great!
So cool! Sometime last year you said you would be interested in doing a rock pirates rc interceptor chassis with your Phoenix, is that still the case?
ALways nice to see furitek upgrades!
A high performance enduro 24 build would be cool
I’ve never tried one of those. Would love to some day
The platform is done it was hardly supported anyways

still looks good at 119..winter is coming

Sure, it’s pretty simple but I’m happy to do it. The Shop mini RC has a great tutorial on the furicar app too
@@CapeCrawlers ok thanks! Just enjoy your videos/personality! Thanks for the quality content

if you want to switch radios with this system, can you? i have a nice dcx 5 remote and an extra receiver laying around.
Do you consider making a high-speed scx24 with IFS? Like a mini Trophy Truck? (2WD?)
What Drives haft would you suggest.for A18
I must get that!!.....got it, but still enjoying it stock with only steel axcel added so far. What's your opinion on brass wheels? Thanks!

I love furitek parts but I so wish there was some competition in the brushless mini market
Does the stock TRX4m radio work with this receiver?
What socks are on this truck? The original shocks don’t offer much “squish” to provide good wheel articulation
They’re original. I just picked up some NexxRacing ones that I’ll be trying soon
@@CapeCrawlers did you go with the 53mm or 59mm shocks? Do you recommend the Injora shocks for the Ascent 18? If so, what oil weight is good in them?

I think the scx24 with the Furitek brushless starter kit is a great option. You could also look at a brushless RTR like the Furitek katana.
Wonder if this can work in the TRX4M? 🤔
Furitek has kits for everything just about
Awesome kit! Do you think the receiver is flysky oem?
Yes it is
Would this work on scx24?
How can i make this work on a trx4m?

Yes you’ll need a new radio and receiver to go brushless. The V2 isn’t compatible unfortunately. Check out the flysky gt5, or the LGRP radio set.
@@CapeCrawlers :( well thanks for the advice tho
@@CapeCrawlersbut the v2 remote doesnt work with any of the furitek revievers?
Are you running the stock steering servo?
No, I’m running a LGRP tremor in this one
@@CapeCrawlers nice I'll check that out
what wheels and tires are you running on this?
Wheels are Injora stamped steel beadlocks and tires are LGRP black labels
What's top speed since it's brushless
I’ll have to do a speed comparison. It’s quick though!
I have a python pro w/ mini Komodo 1806/ 2000kv and hitting 160degs after a few mins of running on 3s 😭😭😭

Gotta step up to the torpedo for water proof (another $60)

Stupid, now you have 250 plus into this budget truck right into 1 10 scale. Doesn't make any sense to me.
Yeah ok and how much are you going to have to put into a $250 1/10 scale truck to make it capable?
