My transmission fluid need changing in my 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport I’ve never did it on any of my car but now I know how to thank u for showing us step by step…
I used Amsoil Signature Series CVT fluid in my 15 Nissan Rogue. Flushed and filled once at 100k kms. Drove the vehicle for a couple of days and performed another flush and fill. Transmission runs way smoother with Amsoil signature which is NS-3 equivalent. Yes Amsoil will mix with the old CVT fluid with no complications. However I performed 2 flush and fills to get a higher volume of new CVT fluid in the transmission. I have gone 30k Km since and the vehicle is running great. Will wait till I hit around 60K on the flush and fill before I change it out again. Great video. I used a measuring pitcher instead of an old jug of oil to be more precise but it works just the same.

Hello there. x tronic cvt transmission oil change does the authorized service offer? At how many thousand km does it need to be changed? There is a discussion here, the authorized service cvt says no oil change is required, but special service masters recommend changing it at 60 thousand km. What is the situation in your country? Can you give information?
Nissan officially doesn't recommend to change CVT transmission fluids. I have seen people with more than 200k miles (>320k km) without any issue. I think it depends how you drive it, load you carry with the car, temperature where you live, etc etc. I just don't want to take a risk as I live in hot weather during summer time. I would suggest to drain and fill every 90k km or so on normal condition (no towing, good weather, etc)
Isn’t there a filter to change?. On my old Mercedes you have to take the oil pan off to change the filter but nobody had done it in 15 years on my car! The date on the filter was the same age as the car!! Changing the oil in the Merc transmission made a big difference 😊. Only asking because I might change oil in my daughter’s Rogue.
Actually, my manual doesn't suggest changing it. That is one of the reasons Nissan doesn't put on manual (in the USA) I think. It is your decision for your car. I just don't believe we have fuilds that can live for a long period of time after working on heats and frictions.
Good Morning. I would. CVT is very fragile. If you do it yourself, it costs you a lot less than dealerships and keeps your tranny works well. Lot of people change it every 30k. You may want to use oem fluid if it is still under warranty (
Can you explain why didnt you change the 2 filters which is one cooler flter outside near the gearbox and another one strainer filter hidden inside the pan/cover you opened the bolt?
You don't need to change the screen inside the pan, except you have high mileage on it. Yes, you can change filter near the gear box if you want. Usually, I change the outside filter every 2 times. Screen inside the pan after 90k to 120k.

Im confused that, when I checked at Nissan service center they told me that no need to change oil for CVT and I run 200k without changing. What to do? There's no issue in gear changing. Having 2015 X-trail in Qatar.
@mkhilji2010 Yeah, I saw the same thing on my manual. I heard a similar story from people who ran their car for more than 150k without any issue with the transmission. In my personal opinion, it is okay to keep the same fluid, but it is better to change it. When I saw the old fluid, the color had changed to very dark color. It might still be good, but I was glad I changed it.
It's a lie, change the fluid every 30k. Nissan and dealers want the car to be disposable at 100k miles so you can buy a new car. The don't realize if you only got 100k mile from their car you'll switch to different car manufacturers.
Hello, it fine to mix amsoil cvt fluid in nissan ns 3 fluid? Did you do repeating drains to get more amsoil cvt or just once time 4L. How is your post experience, it amsoil working well? Please replay, i am planning to drain 4L of ns3 with amsoil in my nissan car.
@@NorCalOutdoor thanks, it is fine to drain once and drive some 30K km or 4 years and then drain again or should I drain twice at a time. One drain can be 60 percent of new amsoil oil in my car as 4L of drain out of 6.9L total.
@prasad9732 you're welcome. You can drain it, then drive it for a while, then drain it again if you don't have any problem with the cost. I did it in a 30-mile interval.
@@NorCalOutdoor how to contact you? I will do it 2nd drain after 30k km drive. You gave me the confidence to drain. Thank you for your suggestion. There are few reasons that make me think to change it on next fluid change: 1. This is a CVT transmission. Less friction than regular one 2. I didn't change whole fluid, but only partial 3. I usually do not change filter every time I do transmission drain and fill, but after every 2 or 3 times. 4. When I saw the old fluid, it wasn't too bad. But I agree with you, better to change the filter and get all done at once.
I have a 2015 SV AWD. It has 80k miles. I am not sure if the fluid has ever been changed since I just bought the car. Would you recommend me doing a fluid drain and fill, or take it to the dealer and have them flush it. Also would you recommend me changing the 2 filters? Thanks.
Hi Stephan. Dealer doesn't recomend tranny fluids change on Nissan CVT, but I would drain and fill it. Specially you bought a used car. You don't know where and how the car was driven. Do not flush it, though. Drain and fill should be enough. No need to replace the screen filter. Just the fluids.
Very helpful video. Thank you! Just one question. Can you use the crush washer on Nissan for engine oil change drain plug as well? Or it’s for transmission fluid plug only?
You can use a fluid that meets specs, unless they provide you the fluid free, that fact has been proven in court. If you use a fluid not to spec then you are screwed.
I agee James!! In the event something goes wrong; you're pretty much on your own. I often tell folks, wait until you hit that 60,000 miles, before using any other fluid outside of what's recommended in the manual.

The owners manual says change every 5 years or 60k miles. You can't check it because there is no dipstick.
Actually, my manual doesn't suggest changing it. That is one of the reasons Nissan doesn't put on manual (in the USA) I think. It is your decision for your car. I just don't believe we have fuilds that can live for a long period of time after working on heats and frictions.

Just bought a new to me 2017 with 96k miles. Do I need to change the filters as well?
Yes, I would do that
Im confused that, when I checked at Nissan service center they told me that no need to change oil for CVT and I run 200k without changing.
So it's mostly like changing the motor oil, right?
Pretty much like that
I was concerned about using other fluids other than Nissan, so do you think other equivalent brands are ok also ?
It should be okay, in my opinion. Nissan is very basic fluids. As long as it is on the same type, it should be okay.

I don't understand why didn't you change the filter what good is putting good fluid in there without changing the filter just my thought
Thank you for your suggestion. There are few reasons that make me think to change it on next fluid change:
1. This is a CVT transmission. Less friction than regular one
2. I didn't change whole fluid, but only partial
3. I usually do not change filter every time I do transmission drain and fill, but after every 2 or 3 times.
4. When I saw the old fluid, it wasn't too bad.
But I agree with you, better to change the filter and get all done at once.
How has it been running since you changed it to that type?
Honestly, I don't feel any differently. Feel the same as before. Good thing is no issue before and after.
Change the top filter on the side of the tranny. My 2115 mitsu. You take the battery out. It is a bit difficult but that filter is the one to change .
