Nissan Titan Fuel Pump Assembly Replacement (tips and Tricks)

- In this video I show the steps and procedures necessary to replace a fuel pump on the Nissan titan. These procedures can be used also for a Nissan armada or Infiniti QX56. Here’s 2004 through 2015. It is important to release the fuel pressure in the fuel line before you replace the fuel pump. The truck I’m working on in the video is a 2004 Nissan titan SE with 156,000 miles. The fuel pump failed entirely in the truck was not able to run. I loved the video. I just wish you could have shown how to disconnect some of the fuel lines and electrical connections a little closer. Especially for first timers!!!! I had real problems figuring out how to disconnect them. I'm sure filming it wouldn't have been easy either!!!

Just watched your video and did this repair. It’s totally doable for one person. The only thing I would recommend is to make sure you have a right angle or circle pick to release the clips on the evap line and especially the fuel line.
How do I release the fuel line on the pump on top of the tank? I can't figure it out
Pinch the two tabs behind the black connector, the two closest things to the fuel pump that is not fuel pump
Who here is replacing due to rough idle and already replaced every sensor? Not sure if this is what I need to do.

I had to do this on my 08 Pro-4X and the gas gauge now doesn't read the fuel properly so I've ran out of gas several times. Also now have a P045 code that comes and goes but looks like you showed where to look so thank you. Hopefully fixing that code will help the gauge work properly again too

I have a 04 Titan and my check engine light is on, I put a scanner and gives me a P0463 code witch is Fuel Level Sensor, my fuel gage is up and down all the time, I can fill the tank today and tomorrow will show empty. I can pass my smog check test. Thanks a lot for this video, it’s gonna help me a lot.
Has anyone ever ran a aftermarket fuel cell on a Titan? I’m looking at a fuel cell but I’m clueless on how to go abouts hooking lines up and what lines do what… but awesome video on removal!

great video just one thing that was an obvious issue, once you got the tank on the ground you mentioned one of three bolts were missing on the deflector plate, one more fell out and when you put it back now it only has one bolt instead of three

I have a 2004 Pathfinder Armada and the fuel pump is under the drivers side passenger seat! It was too easy! Didn’t have to drop tank. Small cut in the carpet that can easily be hidden cause it’s under the seat!

Any videos on gas tank clogs, gas is going threw the EVAP hose to canister when fueling is there a vacuum Fault stuck open under the hood.
Why was the service engine soon light on? Evap canister?

I did enjoy the video and found the information useful however your not suppose to disconnect the positive battery cable first and wd40 doesn't lubricate the O rings it dries them out

Why do these projects always have one step that should be really simple and end up being ridiculously stupid and take hours instead of minutes? I cant remove the hose from the evap canister fpr the life of me!! You simply said pinch and pull its not that easy. Any advice? I hate when something so minimal stops my whole progression

Use pliers open the teeth bite down the sides lightly and with right hand pull it out 😊
Sometimes on fuel pumps you may have to pinch and push in on the hose/clip I know thats sounds crazy but check the manual.
I got everything except the main fuel line off the tank im having trouble removing it. Can someone explain how to do it?
Can’t even get my pump fuel line off like you did I have to depress bored sides at same time but the stupid pump shield is in the way

I had the Nissan dealer replace my fuel pump about a year ago. The fuel gauge is not working correctly. The gauge indicates a 1/4 tank but the tank is empty. Next, the gauge will show a 1/4 tank, then move up to just under a 1/2 tank, then go down below a 1/4 tank. This happens while driving or when parked and returning to the truck a few minutes later. I complained to the dealer, and they said there was a problem with my instrument cluster. However, everything seems to be working correctly with the cluster. Is it possible that they damaged the float, or is the float defective? Any advice. 2008 Nissan Titan SE model 167,000 miles.
So after looking at the fuel pump for the flex fuel option, it says it doesn't fit my vehicle after putting in my vehicle info. Any ideas?

I was thinking the same thing....... cut a hole and then patch it in with the piece I cut out....
How's it going? thanks for the video. I got a 08 titan, I start it and once started it basically dies out. But during that moment if you push on the gas pedal it doesn't Rev up at all.. I'm going to check the power to the fuse like you showed.. I also tried to use a code reader but didn't get a code

Hi Aaron, the fuel pump you listed for 2005 Nissan Titan (non-flex) is the same fuel pump as flex fuel titans. Can you confirm Delphi (DFP FG1277) is the correct pump for 2005 Nissan Titan (non-flex)? Thank You.

I have a 2012 Titan and I'm having a fuel supply problem. I could hear the pump running for a few seconds when I turn the key on in the morning but my engine won't start. When I spray starting fluid on the intake the engine runs for a few seconds. What is the fuel pressure psi on a good fuel pump. Planning to do this test first before I replace the fuel pump. I had this problem a few weeks back it would start up when starter fluid was used and just shut off when it was put into gear. So I looked it up here on the trusty youtube and found out it was my crankshaft position sensor that gave out. It is located under the truck right at the bell housing. Replacement part coat me 32 bucks and less than fifteen minutes to change out. Trick was undoing the connection. Have to push the green tabe down and towards the bell housing and pull at the same time. Started up no problem when replaced. Now I have to change the fuel pump due to power or even going above 2500 rpms.

The small mesh basket on the bottom of the fuel pump is the filter. There is no external filter too replace.

i have an issue with my 04 titan 2wd. sometimes when Im driving and i hit the gas, the rpms go up but the truck will not speed up. could this be a bad fuel pump? any help would be appreciated. thanks!
If it's doing what u describe from an idle, like at a red light, then it might be your transmission is failing

Common problem with Armadas, I have a 2005 and it did the same thing until I fixed it. The purge valve (vent control valve) is clogged from debris and it is blocking proper vent flow of fuel vapors to the evap canister while pumping gas. Dealerships will charge $600 to replace and fix it, but I found the part on Amazon and the fix was only 15 minutes of my time.....
You have to change the EVAP VENT CONTROL VALVE (purge valve) which is located just under the fuel door, and you have to remove the rear driver side tire to access it. Here is the link I used:

You can just replace the pump in the assembly

4:40 dude why u just breeze over thr fuel line. I got no idea what thr trick to that tab is and mine seems a lot harder to access.
I'm stuck halfway through the job! I cannot get my hands in there to remove the electrical connector and fuel line off sending unit. I have small ladies hands and still cannot! There is absolutely no room! And no I cannot get a connector puller or long needle nose pliers on it safely. 😤
