    I noticed the ominous smell of fuel one day when walking by my parked vehicle. The smell grow progressively stronger over the coming days and after not being able to find any visible exterior leaks, I decided to inspect the top of the fuel tank where the in-tank fuel pump resides through the access panel in the cabin.
    A new fuel pump solved the issue, here’s how to do the job.

    Apologies if this is a dumb question, but can you just replace the green plastic piece to see if that was the issue - before removing the fuel pump?

      Yes, absolutely. The odds of it being the green retainer are just super low though.

    Did you actually find the green connector as a separate part?

    What are the symptoms of bad fuel pump in y62

      Well, with the Armada, the fuel pump doesn't actually go out. It springs a leak.(plastic parts break) You will start to smell gas all of a sudden. The assembly is really expensive. I got a discount through my job and it was still $662. Amazon does sell one REALLY cheap. ($77) I just couldn't trust it being that cheap but hey, you never know. Lastly, the armada has 2 fuel pumps. One on the engine and one under the seat. Make sure you get the right one. You'll definitely know because it's $1500 + tax and metal. Hope it works(ed) out for you.

      I’m afraid I don’t know. A lot of pickups require dropping the tank or lifting the bed.

    My fuel guage is not reading properly sometimes. Is this my full pump or float?

    • @luso_overland
      @luso_overland  7 месяцев назад

      On many cars, the pump and float (sending unit) are two different things installed into the tank but on this vehicle the float is part of the pump. Maybe it's possible to just replace the float portion of the pump but it might not be sold individually and you might have to install an entire new pump. And there's always the possibility the problem is a gauge issue in the cluster.

    My gas needle is not working properly somwtimes , even when I fill up. Both Auto Zone and O'Reilly told me it was the fuel pump. Does this sound like a correct diagnosis?

    • @luso_overland
      @luso_overland  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, it is usually just 1 of 2 possibilities: 1. Fuel Pump because that is where the float is that sends the signal to the gauge with the fuel level. or 2. The gauge/needle/instrument cluster itself could be bad but this is probably less likely.
