I deliver food because my insurance doesn’t cover transport of people. I got commercial insurance on my car because it’s used primarily for food/grocery delivery. Transporting people (with the way people drive here) with only Uber’s coverage is not a risk I’m willing to take. Former NoVA resident here - it’s fun to watch you drive around near where I grew up.
Yep, you take that $3.75 trip and drive 5 miles and it's n apartment complex that is poorly marked and it takes you 15 minutes after you arrive to finally find the customer. Oh, and of course it's up a steep flight of stairs. 🤔😡
I had an order where the same person ordered food from two different restaurants, but my goof was walking the first one up to a third floor apt only to realize that I had to carry the second order right back up. Wish I had realized it was the same person and just made one trip lol
Do the drivers need to check the items in the delivery or just take them and trust the restaurant? I noticed some of your McDonald's bags were taped closed. Thanks again,
Drivers aren't responsible for the order being accurate or checking inside of the bags. It's the restaurants responsibility for the order to be right. The food is always inside containers of some sort and the driver should never open the containers and potentially contaminate the food or risk dropping the container etc.
That’s crazy I did the exact same thing clear out both orders on accident one time and support said they couldn’t see the addresses once we clear them out. They tried to contact the customer and they didn’t order so they scheduled redelivery and I had to “dispose” of the food. I thought it was weird so I wonder if my support agent just didn’t know how to pull it up. Great video though!
Mitch, Thanks for sharing your experiences with us! I have only dashed one day, but learned a lot! Do customers ever ask you to check in the bags if they got everything or something special they ordered? I know most of the time the bags are sealed, so I just look at the outside receipt.
Hi Denise - I've never had a customer ask me to check the contents of the bag. I'll always check the obvious things like do I have the right number of bags and drinks etc but I won't go into the bags and look. Good luck out there.
Oh and I’ve watched several of this type of video and people say to check the order but so far I haven’t seen any check one. Do you look in the bag or just look at the receipt?
Don’t be afraid to cancel/unassign orders of the restaurant gives you a ridiculous wait time (over 10 minutes). I know that DD wants you to stay over 80% completion (I’m currently at 94%) and as far as I know, Uber doesn’t care, lol.
Jeff - nope. Other drivers are not visible on the app. The only time I see other drivers is when picking up food, there may be other drivers at the restaurant.
I had a 5 star rating and then somebody gave me a 1 so now I'm at 4.00 my completion rate is 98 % and on time is 97% but I'm worried that I can be deactivated. I dont know what order gave me a 1 star but it's really messing with me and I dont know what I did. Can I find out why I got such a low rating?
Great thank you! I have 96 total deliveries. I started door dash end of July if that makes a differance. I dont know if after 100 is when it matter's and I could be deactivated below 4.2 customer ratings. I need this job and am worried if I do a few more deliveries they could be my last
Food also doesn't get drunk nor start arguments.

Don’t have to worry about making small talk with your food with door dash and Uber eats

When people are working with two companies like Door Dash & Uber Eats are they using two different phones?

I was told that you just check the receipt and make sure if they have drinks.

Definitely a useful tool.
Great video keep it up

What happens with those small orders that get denied?
do you see other drivers on the app? do you have contact with other drivers in person?

What did you do before gig work? Safe travels
I was in high tech since the mid 90s.
I’d rather see a sketchy hamburger than a deer near the road.
I made a total of 6.37 cents today for ubereats for 1 hour and 45 minutes and quit for the day in killeen texas
Ouch! I was out today for lunch and got zero orders. That's the first time that has ever happened. Not sure what is going on these days.

I haven't seen that functionality Woody. I'll poke around and see what I can come up with.
Great thank you!
