    Great video! Very precise and to the point. 2013 Chevy Malibu was jumping at low speeds and eventually stalled...tripped a P0010 fault. Ordered both intake and exhaust off amazon to be safe (only $36). I’m glad you mentioned the plastic cap on the exhaust as my new one did not arrive with it. Cannibalized the plastic cap off old exhaust to new one. Started and ran like a charm. Thank you!

      Thanks for the update! Let’s get this figured out. These little connection tabs are a pain 😆
      After unlocking white connection tab, you then press the end of the white tab “inward” & at the same time...slowly & carefully shift tab off Solenoid...easier said than done! Keep us posted! It never fails... those connection tabs always seem to be the hardest part of the project...no fun 😮

    You did a great job with your explanation of the process but I always recommend removing the negative and positive side terminals I have seen four people on hook the ground leave the positive hooked up and when they're all done the vehicle won't start when certain modules have no ground but Power or vice versa power and no ground it can short out the models Cadillacs the worst I always recommend removing both battery terminals if you're going to remove them

    I have a 2013 Malibu 2.5, 43,000 miles, I just noticed the Code P0011 was causing the check engine light. I also have some type of EVAP small leak code too. P0442. I noticed my car started rough idle and stumbling once in a while. I'll change my intake one like you did. I hope the EVAP code isn't causing the P0011 to trigger? Or is that two separate things? Great Video!

    Hi great video I just bought my son a 2014 same codes 10-11 at 44,000 miles this happened after I had the synthetic oil changed at Walmart drove out the parking lot and the eng light came on went to autozone to check it so I bought both and changed them out and I reseted the eng light then we drove it about 20 miles and the eng light came back on checked it again it thru the same codes 10-11 but car is running great no problems still had great gas mileage. 5,000 miles later I changed the oil reset the engine light again still on. Im out of ideas on what else that might be wrong with the car just keeps throwing the same codes I give up my son says the car drives great. So I just say if it’s not broke don’t try to fix it. If anyone has the same problem I’m open for some ideas anything will help thank you for your time

      Jesse Gutierrez III
      Thanks for watching & sharing your experience Jesse, this is an interesting situation, let’s get this figured out!
      Since you have already replaced both Intake & Exhaust Solenoids, we need to direct our attention to the actual oil.
      You mentioned you added Synthetic oil which is great. This vehicle requires Synthetic oil & our specific 2013 Malibu takes Dexos Synthetic oil.
      It’s very possible that your oil is causing your engine light to illuminate. The purpose of these Solenoids are to properly manage the oil intake & outtake as it moves through engine.
      It’s possible that the Solenoids are not properly nor efficiently working together with the engines current brand of oil...hence causing your engine light to illuminate.
      We recommend checking your vehicles owners manual & verify which oil the manufacturer & engineers suggest for your specific engine.
      Keep us posted!

    For a 2011 Malibu 4 cylinder, would this be the same? Auto zone told me the cam shaft actuator , I replaced that and it’s still making a flutter noise when I accelerate. Thank you for your help!

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  4 года назад +1

      Nicole Andrews
      Thanks for watching Nicole, what’s your update. Let’s get this figured together.
      By chance is your check engine light on? If yes, we recommend visiting your local AutoZone again and having them re-scan for error codes. You mentioned that they said it was the actuator and you already replaced it and your issues still exist.... this means the new actuator should not show up again when they read your check engine codes.
      They will be able to access the code that will allow us to pinpoint the exact part that needs to be replaced. Keep us posted.

      Thanks for watching & it’s definitely the most annoying part of the project. We can’t stress enough, do your best not to brake it. The inner locking tab must be carefully shifted, then downward pressure as you simultaneously pull connections apart.

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  5 лет назад +1

      Austin Menker
      Thanks for the reply. First tab will be shifted out. Once locking tab shifted out, you will press inward to unlocked internal Locking tab. From here, shift entire electrical connection point outward....definitely easier said than done.

    • @maxrep12
      @maxrep12 5 лет назад +2

      Here is how it is done: after sliding the tab rearwards, you have to depress the tab inwards by gripping it with adjustable pliers while pulling/pushing to remove the electrical connection. Finger force alone will not work. Perhaps finger force worked when the vehicle was new, but not after 6 years. Additionally, you need to use adjustable pliers to pull the old unit out. Again, if the car was new, fingers would work. Please move this comment to the top where it can be seen. This is the crux of the entire repair!!!

      First thing that comes to mind is Spark Plugs & Wires. When was the last time the spark plugs and wires have been replaced? After years of running the engine your spark plugs and wires begin to degrade and corrode causing lack of engine performance. It’s very possible that replacing your old plugs and wires with new plugs and wires will fix your engine issues.

      Thanks for watching. We recommend disconnecting the negative cable from your battery and leaving it disconnected for a minimum of 15 minutes.
      After 15 minutes, resecure negative cable to your battery and start the engine. This will allow your system to reset.

      Thanks for watching. Tricky...they are. Be patient & do your best not to brake it. The plastic lock tab needs to be shifted & downward pressure added as you shift connection point off. Easier said than done. Keep us posted!

      Thanks for watching & we hope the video helped. When connected to an OBD2 scanner, you will get either the “A” code or the “B” code.
      For this year & engine size, the “A” is the Intake & the “B” is the Exhaust.
