The producers really should have stayed with the "Casino Royal" Bond. He gave fresh air to the series. Spectre and No Time to Die brought back way too much gadgets and science fiction.
Unfortunately Craig filmed most of Spectre and NTTD with broken limbs but the DB5 with the gun turrets is a real practical custom built gadget car and cool as fuck

These movies just felt more real and grounded than previous Bond movies. Like not too over the top crazy, but still believable like it could definitely happen.

Never picked up on that before, but now you mention it it does look like a good way to show someone being more 'rough around the edges' than someone we know more familiarly later
For the series’ history this is pretty moderate in terms of ridiculousness. Casino Royale was supposed to be a grounded and gritty reboot like Batman Begins.
It's definitely not over the top or ridiculous. I once chased someone through a construction site as well and it was very similar to this. Jumping onto cranes and running through fake walls and all!
The part where Mollaka climbs up the beam using free-running was the moment where I realized this was going to be one pretty damn awesome movie. The whole sequence is a sensational piece of work. Hard-hitting and visceral. You really feel Bond's pain and his determination while chasing the guy. And a bit of Mollaka's, too, when he starts getting treated like a rag doll in the embassy. Almost feel bad for the guy. Almost.
2 of the absolute best in the series, potential top 5s and easy top 10s. Massive shame that he's also responsible for 2 (potentially 3) of the very worst.

This is the only Bond chase sequence I've ever seen where I didn't believe Bond should be able to catch his prey. There's no way anyone would even try to keep up with insane parkour like Mollaka's.
Definitely. All actors had their strengths. Connery was the gentleman, Lanzenby was the nobody, Moore was the clown, Brosnan was the chauvinistic womanizer, and Craig was simply the best.

I always knew that Bond would be filmed in Miami and the Bahamas. Love the Daniel Craig, my mentor and the only actor who I knew and always believed that he would play 007. I also knew it before anybody else that Daniel Craig would bring 007 characters to the big screen. Love ❤️ I wish I could meet them all and everybody of my favorite 007 family. This is one of the best chase sequences ever created and it happens to be a Bond film. I remember my experience in the film watching this. I was drawn in. They should re-release it in theaters for IMAX maybe lol
Thank God for the Bourne franchise. Liman / Greengrass / Damon had made THE Spy trilogy for the modern film goer. MGM had no choice but to keep up. This was the first Bond that was a 'tough guy'.
All Bond actors brought something interesting to the way they adapted themselves to the character. But Craig really aces them all. He surely has that strong Alpha like the books showed. Not just his skills but his brawn too merges well. I enjoyed all action sequences in this movie. He sure set the bar high AF.

Lots of visual story telling in an action sequence. Throughout the chase we see Bond get the crap beaten out of him but he gets up and keeps on moving. Bond also knows he can't catch up to the runner, so he uses his environment to take an easier or more direct route than the guy he's chasing. In a 6 minute scene with very little dialogue we learn that Bond is driven, tough, ballsy, and smart. Obvious qualities of bond but its nice to see some thought went behind the scene, and there's as much substance as there is style.
At this point I can’t imagine a bond movie without Daniel Craig. However it must have also been difficult when Sean Connery was leaving so I guess we’ll find out how good will the new one be.
When they first announced that Craig was going to be the new Bond, I was like WTF?! Daniel Craig, this skinny english actor in Layer Cake (with the skinnier Tom Hardy...)? You can't be serious. This guy's a really good actor but not really an action movie actor, anyway not suitable enough to play 007. Oh boy was I wrong...now I couldn't imagine a better match.
Mollaka's get away skills are so damn impressive, he has the total control of his body, he simply fitted the caracter! Thumbs up for this brilliant actor.
For me this was the best Bond film of all time, every scene was excellent and the story flowed flawlessly, to top it all Eva Green was superb and brought a new dimension to being a 'Bond girl'.
4:57 super underrated cool shot, that's overlooked because it's low key compared to all the other really cool shots this scene gave us. Bond and Mollaka take separate jumps down and they're perfectly synchronized!

I adore old school action & adventure movies like this. This scene is so epic and raw. You don’t see movies made like this anymore sadly. They’re very few and far between in this day and age.
Daniel, you upped up the level of Bond so high that it would be really hard for the next guy to catch that & the Bond Production House have the most real tough job ahead !! I am sure they could easily pre-empt that the next Bond movie is going to Fail without doubt even if they hire Ben Affleck Or Idris Alba as next Bond. When I was a kid, the first Bond movie I ever saw in theaters was (unfortunately) Die Another Day. Imagine how confused I was when I saw this scene, wondering if I’d walked into the right movie theater. This was Bond like we’ve never seen him before.
Don’t say Unfortunately Die Another Day because that film was truly a masterpiece and certainly the best Brosnan Bond Era Film in my option. But Casino Royale is a Masterpiece too, I loved Die Another Day came out a year after I was born and I’ve watched it so many times and this one too and others always been a massive Bond Fan but I think Die Another Day, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace were one of the reasons of me being a massive Bond Fan starting when I was a young kid. Then Skyfall came along my Favourite Bond Film and Casino Royale my second Favourite and Die Another Day another of my Favourites.

This James Bond explains why Jack Reacher is the bomb! Zero gadgets! All grit! Loved this opening sequence! Just fabulous!

@@GrosvnerMcaffrey I didnt notice anything, if youre talking about the speeding car chase at the start I duno what people expected, its a speeding car chase, why are people worried about fucking editing, hardly a reason to dismiss the entire rest of the film.
Lots of visual story telling in an action sequence. Throughout the chase we see Bond get the crap beaten out of him but he gets up and keeps on moving. Bond also knows he can't catch up to the runner, so he uses his environment to take an easier or more direct route than the guy he's chasing. In a 6 minute scene with very little dialogue we learn that Bond is driven, tough, ballsy, and smart. Obvious qualities of bond but its nice to see some thought went behind the scene, and there's as much substance as there is style.
That criminal... We should appreciate him for his jumping, running with acrobatic skills... Made Jamesbond run for his money 😊

When they first announced that Craig was going to be the new Bond, I was like WTF?! Daniel Craig, this skinny english actor in Layer Cake (with the skinnier Tom Hardy...)? You can't be serious. This guy's a really good actor but not really an action movie actor, anyway not suitable enough to play 007.

Mollaka's get away skills are so damn impressive, he has the total control of his body, he simply fitted the caracter! Thumbs up for this brilliant actor.
For me this was the best Bond film of all time, every scene was excellent and the story flowed flawlessly, to top it all Eva Green was superb and brought a new dimension to being a 'Bond girl'.

Don’t say Unfortunately Die Another Day because that film was truly a masterpiece and certainly the best Brosnan Bond Era Film in my option. But Casino Royale is a Masterpiece too, I loved Die Another Day came out a year after I was born and I’ve watched it so many times and this one too and others always been a massive Bond Fan but I think Die Another Day, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace were one of the reasons of me being a massive Bond Fan starting when I was a young kid. Then Skyfall came along my Favourite Bond Film and Casino Royale my second Favourite and Die Another Day another of my Favourites.
