    In Japan you can pull PSA9s and PSA10s all day outta there bulk card bins selling vor 20 cents to 1 dollar USD, cuz they take care of there cards differently than kids do in america. Pokemon is a culture in Japan and the kids are taught to take pride i in their collections & this dude is just throwing around cards he can get graded and get hundreds of dollars for when 5500 yen is around 38-40 USD. So paying 700 yen ,480 yen thats a dollar or too and you'll get hundreds for them graded. I hate to see resellers that dont know Japan's culture and ruins there cards. This guys go alot to learn about Japan's card culture FR FR

    Try not to stress so much about video quality and all that. Most of us that are here like it the way it is. We don’t care about or need any of the fancy editing and perfect film work. Don’t even waste energy thinking about it and being self conscious.

    Maybe try grading English as a new challenge. Like make videos going to your local stores and pregrading. You could also try getting black labels from Beckett.

    • @PokemonSteven
      @PokemonSteven  6 месяцев назад +1

      i did english for about 5 years, it honestly isnt very rewarding as the cards are just always damaged out of the packs these days. Also being from australia the supply is zero, i have to buy from america exclusively and dealing with american sellers is not as easy as it sounds. I actually might try some BGS submissions as it has been growing on me a bit.

    I really enjoyed the vlogs (going to Japan in September) and also enjoyed this video. I appreciated your transparency about your struggles.
    I’m newer in my card journey (1 year). Doing eBay and RUclips videos and the way you described it as an RPG is very accurate. Im definitely in the early stages haha. I also do a decent amount of sports cards and I am just now taking pokemon a lot more seriously.

    BTW.. I really appreciated your comments in this video, so authentic and heartfelt.
    I sort of understand when you say that you are sort of arrived and lack of drive, I mean I can relate to a similar emotion but I'm so ..... envious (in a good way)... because my problem is that I don't even know what I like and I feel stuck... and thorn between the the fear of not knowing what I enjoy doing and the fear of trying to do something new just to know if I'll like it or not...
    And in all of this, I'm a lawyer, I spent 5 years in college studying something that (only after 5 more years of work I realized) I don't really like... and because of that I can't find the drive to continue...
    I love your determination when you say that you'd be worried for your opponents were you to start again from square 1...
    I'd love to have that 😉

    • @PokemonSteven
      @PokemonSteven  4 месяца назад +1

      feeling stuck after 5 years isnt a great feeling, but you have only used 5 years out of your "best" 40.. i'd say just take it in stride and find joy in literal anything and try to take advantage of that.

Obviously I love the pokemon selling and buying tips and conversations and insights, but the reason I decided to comment is none of the above, If I may say something towards what you were mentioning regarding feeling like you won the game and now what? I am built in very much the same manner I obsess over something then reach a plateau and get bored, but I what i've found is there is always more to do, learn, and experience. Also It is a great sign of progress feeling like the game is over, In my experience every stage where i've got bored or had feelings like that there is always a new thrilling venture around the corner ! hope that makes some sense! the best always ! and thanks sincerely for all you share freely

    Do you feel like visiting the stores in person was worth it compared to spending that same budget online?

    • @PokemonSteven
      @PokemonSteven  6 месяцев назад +1

      i spent 20k on two cards in total that i probably wouldnt be able to get online.. so they were maybe "worth it"
      the other 40 was a mix of yugioh/pokemon, i'd say 50/50 split.. a lot of the lower end pokemon i couldve easily got slowly overtime from buying collections, the gem mint stuff that i bought felt great to buy because i had a chance to check the condition before buying..
      While i was in japan i spent 4m yen online on cards which honestly, were way better deals and it'll be way better profit.. but i had fun, and i got to make these vlogs so who knows.
      Tl;dr its not really worth it to go over to japan to buy/sell cards, all the stores are setup to sell things at a profit so the prices are high already... hope that helps lol

      @鉄雄e 6 месяцев назад

      knowing what you paid for each individual item might seem like a good strategy, but it takes too long when you have so many items to work through. it's usually easier to keep it simple, to say "I spent X amount on inventory in total, and my store made Y amount in revenue" rather than keeping track of everything individually

I got bored 3 vlogs in because all I saw was the same cards with different prices, where I would much rather see what you had for dinner lol. Showing the stores was cool! But just showing all the cards they had was bland. Just feedback, love your other videos while I’m sorting my bs. Thank you!

    • @PokemonSteven

      for sure, my idea with the touristy stuff is.. well i just didnt do any of it this time round, and there are hundreds of japan vlogs of people doing the tourist stuff. But if i do it again, ill show more of the food side and exploration side. The issue is really that i didn't have time for any of it, and i was focused on buying cards.. Even food i was just getting a snack and getting back out there.

    Love to see this man. I came last year and spent around $350 US and was able to get a great haul of old-back gen 1 cards from Osaka in the Namba area. Such a great spot. I really just spent one or two days looking for cards and spent the rest doing normal tourism. Love seeing this. I'm back now just doing some language exchange and chilling and this is making sure that I go back to Osaka to do it again. It was such a goldmine for awesome old-back played holos. These videos are awesome man.
