You captured the true essence of Pokemon card stores in Osaka perfectly. The variety of shops, the amazing collection of rare cards, and your insightful commentary made it feel like I was right there back in Osaka!
Thanks so much for making such a thorough video about all of these card stores! It's such a great reference for any card collectors planning on traveling to Osaka, and it was super fun just to see all of the cards! :D I've been wanting to collect more e series cards, and seeing so many of them in this video really got me excited to continue looking for them haha!
I went it Japan in late 2018 and it feels crazy how much higher the prices are now. It all went nuts after 2020... I'm happy I'm just collecting the cards I like wherever the region they are from, there are many price differences between countries and I just want them to look good and not being overpriced, the legends cards here like Ho-oh Legend in Japanese is like between 200 and 400 bucks depending on the store, I got a french one for 30, and it was just last year. Though some french cards are apparently more expensive in some sets like the Gold Star ones.
Welcome back and I've been looking forward to the continuation of this series! This video along with your Nagoya and Kyoto ones have me super excited to visit Japan in November. Congrats on the little one as well!
Absolutely epic video Jluv, I'm going to Osaka in 4 weeks for the first time. I'm from Japan but wasn't back into Pokemon cards when we went last year. Can't wait. This list is gonna be an awesome resource to build our list!
Great video, 5 ⭐️for the quality of this video and 5 ⭐️ for the content. You easily have the best Pokémon content on RUclips. Thank you for your passion!
Its crazy how some of these businesses are able to stay in business selling cards, even though they have the most obscure and awful business locations possible.
We have a similar shop in germany or had one when i was young. Idk if they still exist, they moved at some point to a bigger location inside a mall in a different town but they had many regular customers that came from all over the country just to visit this shop and they had a very bad location too. I remember playing tournaments there every weekend. Best time of my life
Seeing the Rotom Vs at 26:15 at that price is insane considering they're 1800 yen+ right now despite rotating in a few months LOL Fantastic vid brother!
@@DifferentFight that is insane !! i love these kinda vids cause they’re like a time capsule, that’s why i wanted to make it so bad. glad you liked it king !!
Awesome vid. Thank you so much. Just came back from Osaka this week. Wish I had seen your content before going. Do you have any recommendation on where to get 151 displays there? Going back there asap 😄
Girafull is the best by a mile. What a fantastic store! Plenty of space, loads of choice, toilets, large play area. Perfect! Lot of those stores aren't spending enoguh time checking prices and keeping them up to date.
Wow this was a great video! I bet that Clove base store has all the Komiya cards i need for my Komiya collection 🤗 the VS & vending series Komiya’s have been a little hard to come by!!! Also cool hearing you speak in Japanese. Hope you and your fam are well 🙂
This was so fun - seeing these places and having gone there myself really makes you appreciate it so much more! The yen is a bit bonkers too so I just pretended 1000 was $10 and it made life so easy 🤣
That Split Earth/Skyridge Politoed is my all-time favorite card. Have used it as my avatar on forums etc. since like 2008. Still need the English PSA 10, but have most of the English and Japanese variants in a 10-including the unlimited Split Earth, which is a pop 1 (last I checked, anyway). Lovely card.
Gotta point this one out for those who stop by (likely because of Ghibli Park) Nagoya had some great stores with great prices! While you're there, open up maps and go on a cardshop crawl 💯
JLUV dunno if u been asked or not but love ur tier list video especially the alt art one u should do a update version because their so many more ❤🎉 love ur vid
Great video, thanks for your effort! I’m in Japan right now and Osaka will be my last city. Still looking for good card shops and Blastoise (UNP) in good condition. Maybe the other two as well. Will check some of them out.
Great video! Helpful to a lot of people I would say. Wondering when you visited Osaka and from where this footage dates? :-) thanks a lot for the effort put into this!
I just came back from Osaka a few months ago. I honestly think Denden Town is a better place to shop for cards than Akiba. It's more compact so you can visit a lot of stores in a short amount of time, which is perfect if you're a tourist with limited time in the city. I picked up some great cards at good prices like some vintage ex's and the 4 Gold Sinnoh Legendaries from VSTAR Universe. Also grabbed the Shiny Rayquaza that was a promo for Pokemon Conquest, which was a card I never knew existed until I saw it there.
I’ve just started to collect the Shiny Treasures EX set on holiday in Japan since the packs are so fun to open. Would many of the 5* price stores be the best way to complete the set with singles?
each store bought its inventory at its own time at its own rates. this is why each store differs in terms of prices. its not that a shop is necessarily ripping anyone off or has inconsistent pricing. it would be unrealistic for every shop to have the same or similar prices. The variance of prices as it is, is a good thing that helps the market and demand and success of pokemon cards.
very true, i think a lot of the price variance just comes from some cards sitting on shelves longer than others. eventually a store will need to cut the price of a card below whatever they paid for it if they do really need to move it; guess we aren't fully at that point just yet. maybe soon. appreciate you watching!
are we just supposed to ask to see the cards one by one? like if im interested in a bunch of cards with the intention of grading them what kind of trouble am i expecting?
@@honkingthechickenaway5973 you just call a guy over and point at all the cards you want, at the end they’ll show you the cards to check and you can say which ones you want and don’t want
Great video as always! One question about what you said about Mandarake ratings at 15:38. I've heard 8 is the highest rating (which is apparently gem mint, PSA-10 contender) but most near-mint will be a 7. Have you ever seen a 9 or a 10?
thanks mate! ive seen 8s listed on their website, but i did not see any 8s in stores across 4 different Mandarake visited. usually when i buy 7s they are very clean
@@okJLUV I saw an 8 at the Kyoto store when I was there but yeah, they were really rare. 7s are generally pretty clean. Thanks again for the content. I love that you link the stores in your description.
I'm learning Japanese and am a bit confused - you said this card at 1:43 was 10,000 dollars - 15,500Y is ~$1000US, am I reading the price wrong? Going to Osaka and Kyoto in April! Will have over a year of Japanese studying at that point! I'll only really be able to go to 1 or 2 card shops, after vintage with about ~$700 US budgeted for cards and another $700 or so budgeted for Nintendo consoles.. This video helped so much! Earned a sub and reignited my excitement 😁
yep - you need to add the extra 00s at the end. unlike western countries, every digit counts on Japanese prices - so if you see any 0, assume they are part of the total price. this makes it 150万 instead of 1万5千 yen definitely head in with a budget! imo buying more is better than buying 1 or 2 grails; makes for a nicer binder. have a good time tho and thanks for the sub!
Good content, however issue with people bringing attention to these stores is they end up increasing prices due to foreign demand as a result, most famously happened with super potato in Tokyo
