When someone is pushing something and keeps saying "link in bio or links in the video description" They aren't competent in what they are preaching just trying to make money from vids and clicks.

I've been "investing" in booster boxes since 2012. Same thing with singles. I did this primarily with MTG, but started with Pokemon in 2020 and have now completely switched to Pokemon. When it comes to "investing" into Pokemon, one should approach it as a fun little thing you do after you're maxing out your 401k, ROTH IRA, and have no bad debt. I also invest money into a brokerage and crypto account FIRST, and then any extra I buy Pokemon. Anyone who thinks they're going to get rich buying and putting away 1 to 5 cases of sealed product is terribly misinformed and has been mislead by bad content creators. If you want to make money with Pokemon, then you need to be actively buying it....and....wait for it....SELLING IT! Personally, since I found your channel I've been buying more raw singles and grading and selling as a fun little side hustle. Maybe one day I'll get to Pokemon Steven levels....but most likely not. I make really good money in IT and don't do much work....but it does feel good to make a sale on Ebay and then someone sends you a message with how happy they are to get that item. I also actually enjoy making things right with buyers who maybe had a bad experience due to USPS messing things up. Great video.

Any "investor" in any space very rarely finds "success" in the first year. If that's your goal, you're probably more eager to be a Pokemon flipper than an investor.

It doesnt sound like this person came into it with an "investment" mindset. It sounds like they are going the reseller route which is fine but they need to decide what they are doing. If they have spent 10k in the last year that means some of their purchases arent even a year old. Plus the much diversity in products sounds like a nightmare to have to manage. I do think your spreadsheet idea is a good way to see what they have with values etc but they should also try and calculate how much their investment is up or down in the time frame they have had it. Unless they need the money now for life expenses it doesnt seem like a good time to sell but going forward they should rethink their strategy. I think a long term mindset would really benefit them and bring them the returns that they want.

There’s this one saying that relates to investing everywhere which is investing is like a bar of soap, the more you use it the smaller it gets. It’s hard to have the idea to constantly check up or try to change investments to preserve its growth. I heard that and it really resonated with me

Dudes just a victim. If you buy booster boxes every set and you buy a case you probably will never be in profit. As your reinvesting faster than you sell your waiting for prices to rise and you need a 100% gain to justify next set purchase. The tubers ruining ppls lives. In theory if you sit on a bunch of booster boxes you will be in profit. But that means your not buying new sets which is unrealistic.

I have both the checklist cards in the set. In fact I have 7 of the starters and 13 of the fully evolved ones.

people that wanted a quick fix should have gotten in on the hype around 2020-21 right around when the virus was heating up. I hesitated to send my cards in to PSA right before they closed. At that time cosmic eclipse was out and about as well. Just investing heavy at that period of time would have netted a really nice profit in a very short period of time

Did you see the reddit posts on indents due to writing on the envelope to mail card(s)? There's an example on a Gold Star Mew Delta species on PokemonTCG, but I remember there were one or two others including someone who's address was impressioned into a card.

Hey Steve, I really enjoy watching your videos and can really learn a lot from you and your experiences. Stay the way you are. I would also like to share my thoughts on the topic of many private investors. I have the feeling that a lot of people have given very little thought to the subject of Pokemon and investing. They are also unable to think long-term. Many people watch the videos on the Pokemon investment channels and buy everything they are told. They are promised big profits as seen with past products but what they are not told is how difficult it is to sell the products and how long the Modern Sealed Items will take to rise in price. Especially when I think about the current situation with Japanese 151 or items from the S&V era, I believe that a lot of people will lose a lot of money. The set has now been printed in such large quantities and there is more to come that it will probably be a long time before we see big price jumps. Additionally, a lot of people already have a majority of the cards in their collection plus probably unopened boxes. If you're on Reddit you'll know what I mean. There are so many people who ask "what are your thoughts on my investment" and show one of the current tin boxes, Etbs or a few blister packs.

Hey Steve! I'm thinking about paying for the basic level of a storefront on Ebay which is about $27 Au a month I'm only doing about $2000-3000 per month in sales. Do you think there are any algorithm boosts or other benefits to having a storefront vs just being a regular seller and do you think it might be worth it for me at my current small size?

Any thing you want to film is important. Personally I love sorting videos, and your week in the life videos. They're how I found your channel

Definitely would like more frequent random uploads about anything you're willing to make them about. Other hobbies you might have or your opinions on stuff, obscure topics that you might not think other people care about. Food reviews, vlogs. Work life/day in the life vlogs, IRL vlogs. Gaming videos with commentary. Vids where you go out of your comfort zone and try something you've never done before. Travel vlogs, trips to card shops. The Japan vlogs were awesome.

I could watch a 2 hour video of this type of content. Sorting cards and casual talking/story time stuff.

I also use a SKU system, I have waaaaaay different types of cards but almost no duplicates and one single wooden box that contains about 5000, I don't want more than that I'm lazy lol, it's made for cards so it's a wooden box partitioned by clear plastic thingies, it's so cool, and each section is super simply named 1-2-3 and so on. When I sell a Charizard LVX, I know what it is, it's on section 8 let's say, I pick up that stack, find the Charizard, put the stack back, a couple of seconds really. If I see a stack is getting empty, when I have new cards to list I'll throw them there until they fit and put the rest wherever there's space. The rare times I have duplicates they'll naturally be in different sections so I don't even need to think about it. It's stupid simple but works well I think at least for the amount of cards I sell :V

And you said it right! The sealed game is one of waiting. Most people don’t have the time to wait AND have never sold before. Makes me cry every time I see these videos
