    In my opinion, the derma pen is moved all the time hence creating a tear too! I have been using the derma roller for years without ever seeing any infection or scruffs and had derma pen done last week with bruising all over my face and resulting in flaky skin.

      Hey Saskia, I feel the same! My skin recovers so much better with a roller and I get great results but the pen is basically ripping and vibrating across the skin so the collagen production is limited!!

    I had PRP around the eyes. It's so expensive and results weren't dramatic. Home micro needling on a regular basis with EGF serums is the way to go imo. Obviously you need to educate yourself and take a lot of care re sterilising.

    This derma pen is considered second generation and dermatologists use fourth generation machines that are much more advanced with energy. This second generation microneedling device can be purchased for around $125 on Overstock and many other places. Silly to pay an esthetician or nurse to do this when you can buy your own or get an advanced procedure at a dermatologists office. Check out dermatologist Dr. Davin Lim's videos on microneedling and many other laser and skin care topics here on RUclips. He is extremely knowledgeable about up-to-date procedures.

      That is true Re: the lack of PRP with DIY micro needling but there are a plethora of other efficacious topicals I have seen derm’s and estheticians report as helpful for use after microneedling. Just do your research with credible sources. If I were going to pay for micro needling, I’d at least get a treatment with a fourth generation machine rather than pay for a treatment with a device I can buy and operate myself, but that’s me and everyone needs to make safe, comfortable choices that suit them. RealSelf also has quite a bit of info from doctors Re: micro-needling also. Hope this helps someone.

    • @sterlgirlceline
      @sterlgirlceline 6 лет назад +1

      tori2dles I misunderstood your question on the first read, I have seen some derm’s state on their websites that they offer PRP and I’m nearly certain I remember Dr. Davin Lim mentioning that he performs PRP in his office. Just want to state that I am not a medical professional and am only repeating info I’ve seen on the internet stated by derm’s and/or aestheticians. It is important that everyone do their own research with credible information to make safe and sound decisions that suit him/her. Dr. Dray is another dermatologist who has an informative RUclips channel BTW.

    • @skinsciencebymira
      @skinsciencebymira 5 лет назад +15

      E rick the average person does not microneedle correctly and isn’t educated enough to do it at home. Saying her one anecdotal experience refutes the evidence isn’t reasonable. I see incorrect and unsafe microneedling on the internet all the time. Not sanitizing your skin with an alcohol swab before hand for example. Or not using single use sterile cartridges with a pen or at least correctly cleaning and frequently replacing a dermaroller or stamp, plus dermarollers create rolling tears and shouldn’t be used at longer needle lengths. Too many people microneedle more than once every 4-6 weeks so they’re actually increasing collagenase the enzyme that breaks down collagen which peaks at the 2 week mark, frequent microneedling should be kept to .30mm needles and below where you’re just increasing product
      penetration. Not to mention people using oils and occlusive ingredients after microneedling when you should only be using a water based hyaluronic acid serum for 24 hours while those microchannels are open because again, you have small open wounds all over your face and there’s a very real risk of infection. There have been several cases of foreign body granulomas from people using Vitamin C and other products not safe for transdermal injection - some of these cases were permanent. And dermatologists constantly get patients with scars from dermarolling incorrectly. So yeah, I stand by what I said for all those reasons and more.

    • @ErickChaplin
      @ErickChaplin 5 лет назад +4

      @@skinsciencebymira You saying "yet" to an unexistence infection is annoying, you must say "i hope it doesn't happen".
      In other side, the people who does dermaroller (like me, and it helped a LOT with my discolouration and a few of identation), know that it should be desinfected with isopropyl alcohol, perform every 3-6 weeks and use vit c, niacinamide or retinol serums with a very good skin care routine. I congratulation for your knowledges, but this kind of negative energy is so gross.

    Derma Pen is also not going STRAIGHT in. Not unless you hold it in one area and then
    Iift it straight up, rather than dragging it along the skin as is done. The drag to vibrating rate, then, must be very carefully calibrated or you’re making minor scratches akin to a threaded stitch.

    You can buy the pens...i love how they bring up sanitization. If you cant clean something well enough to not cause a infection come on..in the military as a medic and keeping wounds sanitized in non sanitized conditions out in the open so that it doesn't cause infection. If that can be done and you can't keep a fricken roller that barely penetrates...your ridiculous.

    I visited doctor's office because of my acne scar. I have box shaped indented scars and she told me that dermaroller is more effective for my type of scar than dermastamp(pen however you wanna call it). Damn.. whatever.. I suppose it all depends how skilled practioner is and patient's skin type. They only sell 10 packages so I will follow with dermarolling for first 5 treatment and if I am not getting good result, I will switch to stamping. I was told roller hurts more but it gives you better result and guys most likely get rolling and girls get stamping.
