hard to predict whether the last number is good or not, mentioning that voting begins from the start and songs who are first will have more time to get points
It's obvious EBU did everything to kill Ukraine. I wonder what the conversation was in that room, I guess something like: guys, we don't want problems with hosting if Ukraine wins, so let's make sure it won't.
This was the year everything has changed! 🇱🇻 Latvia, 🇬🇪 Georgia and 🇮🇪 Ireland qualify after a long NQ streak! Our country made a new type of song! And we maybe have a new country to win! Hope Croatia would win but also mine! 🇳🇱❤️🇭🇷
Just curious if anyone else misses the times back before odds (or when you were too young to know what they were)? I remember being a child watching ESC and wholeheartedly taking in and appreciating every single song. I would choose my own favourite, be on the edge of my seat when they were announcing the results and would quite often be surprised by the winner. Now it seems as if people only pay attention to the songs that are the 'favourites' and only vote for those because they think they have to. The results are no longer a surprise. It just doesn't feel anywhere near as enjoyable as it once was.
I completely agree! There's no surprise who's gonna win, cause odds don't lie. In 2022, I printed the odds but didn't check them on purpose until I heard all the songs, cause I wanted to have non biased opinion of mine and I was shocked that Italy won, cause I didn't remember that song at all.
@@Brankos22 By most, you mean ALL croats and some slavs right 😂😂 Dude,Bambie n nemo have votes from almost every country... Also judging by the greek audience,of course it s not we determine the results lol but it is still a metric, Nemo s first now and then it s France somehow. None likes Croatia here
Happy they finally they gave Portugal a fair running order in the final #18 . For the past 5 years we have only performed in the 1st half oh the final, and for the last 2 years in the 2nd and 3rd place. Justice for Iolanda! # grito #18
I totally concur. Interesting I said almost the same thing in my own commentary. E o nosso país não tive que esperar até as últimas duas posições para saber se passava o não.
If you take what the options were for second into account it makes sense, it gives the competition a strong comfortable opener and Ukraine are the ones both least likely to be impacted by the position and least likely to result in drama if they somehow did wind up with unexpectedly low votes.
I think no one likes to be placed on the 2nd spot but someone has to take it. Historically the 2nd spot is given to someone who barely make it on the semis (I don't see it being the case here, but we don't know the results from the semis)
It'd be a disaster if they did IMO, Croatia would be a likely second and them having to host when they've never won and aren't a very rich country is quite unfair to them. I think it could make things awkward next year
The battle is between Israel and Croatia. EBU knows that. And they want Croatia to win. Ukraine is out. Italy is out. Netherlands is out. Since Switzerland is more televote friendly than France, they decided to put Nemo before Slimane. They will equalise each other and leave Croatia with a win. Marko will save Eurovison.
I'm not so sure...if the voting I'd open early a lot of people might...might use there votes early on an act like Ukraine...but the same thing can be said of Israel....feck. I now just want Israel not to win.
@@tiernanmcveigh4102Going early might be an advantage now. If people were only going to vote once they might choose a song earlier on and then not have any votes left for the rest of the finals. Will be interesting to see the breakdown of results.
I'm rooting whole heartedly for Croatia to win and I'm so thrilled that they gave him a good spot! 🥳A Croatian win would prove that anyone can win if you have the right song. France is one of the countries I've had on my list for a while as a possible winner because I can see him crushing the juries. I actually really loved the staging, it really feels like he's singing directly to the viewer. Putting his hand on your cheek or under your chin to tilt your head up. I'm not normally a ballad guy but this was beautiful. 😅
That is quite a possibility. Cause maybe someone will vote for The Netherlands for example 20 times and then wont be able to vote for Croatia later in the evening. New voting rules, new reality.
@@Lawrence.Laurentius I think the people who already decided their vote will not change regardless. People who are still deciding will probably wait until the end to vote. Maybe some people will cast a vote for every country they really like right away, so that could have some impact but idk how much.
i'm wondering if EBU is "testing" how performing second will be impacted by the new voting system by putting a traditional powerhouse country there. maybe they're also trying to demystify the dreaded second spot.
Croatia's song stands for the 'United by Music' slogan. However, Israel's does not. Voting for Israel, who are now second in the odds, will lead to political voting. Israel hosting next year would be catastrophic as we would get a 2009 Russia scenario with members of the IDF marching across the stage and showing their political side. What's worse, many countries will not be motivated to participate in Eurovision 2025 and therefore the quality of songs might be worse. In addition, many of these countries might withdraw. At the start of the season, so many countries threatened to do this and a recycled political song winning might be just what these countries need to withdraw. On the other hand, Croatia winning might encourage a BUNCH of smaller countries to return or make a start at Eurovision, for example, the city states and the Balkan countries. The song also isn't political, shows Europe's unity through the dance break with the crowd and the flashing wrist watches and Marco is a very sincere and humble person.
Yeah spot on. I just got into eurovision last year and this was the first time I got to fully immerse myself. I don't want the contest to turn into chaos. Right away as soon as the Italy televoting got leaked, i became a 100% Croatian nationalist
I guess people celebrate croatia because they added that "ahhh ohh" crowd noise in the song which gets stuck in your head. His singing skills and the instrumental is mid
@@Johny_BE The song just sounds like him screaming random stuff. It's really unimpressive for me but you can try say what's good about the song if you like.
Re Israel's televote in Italy. If the total numbers were relatively low then a group going out of their way to make a protest vote (ironically to protest against protests, I suspect) would have an exaggerated effect, so much too soon to say whether it will be repeated on Saturday, whether just in Italy or in other countries too. In any case maximum Israel could get from televote is around 400 points. Other countries are likely to score low 300s or high 200s, and will likely have big enough of a lead over Israel from juries to prevent a win, although a top 3 finish would be my prediction - but thats totally dependent on them getting a big counter protest vote which we'll just have to wait and see.
In general he is right saying that Italy's televote is not very representative for Europe, in the last years they always voted for some random countries other than the ones which are favourites. At least this is what happens with the jury but I think it's the same for the public
@@piterfifa I think juries in general are quite aware of controversy and their reputation (and many are quite pro Palestine politically as artists and music industry professionals), that will make many of them consciously or subconsciously less willing to put Israel high. I don’t see Israel anywhere near the top 10 or even top 15 with the juries. Juries also know that an Israeli win basically means no ESC 2025 or the end of Eurovision for good, due to boycotts and Big 5 hosting or impossible due to security concerns in Israel - So the EBU might pressure them to not make that happen I predict Israel will do a Poland 2016 (also a traditional ballad) with being almost last with the juries but top 3 in the televote.
I really hope that Switzerland can shine with that running order space. I also think that they really slayed their performance. I am a really big fan. Good luck to everyone!
I really love the song and the video but the staging of the live performance is a little disappointing to me. But then, it could never have matched the video, of course...
@@Snowshowslow Interesting. I also think that it does not match the video, but the staging is epic imo. It really looks very impressive and definitely better than Croatia, which is not that impressive staging wise (of course just in my humble opinion)
Croatian song is also not so epic to me, it does seem a bit amateur, simple, but the rawness, the honesty, catchy rythm in this simplicity is quite interesting, quality of different kind. Considering that it was made and performed by one person, it truly derservs the recongnition it gets.
Seems like a good order. And actually quite nice that a couple of my favourites happen to be back to back. Will be easier to compare and decide which song I prefer.
Nemo would probably have chance if the staging was done better... The video spot for the song as a train conductor was cool, why didn't they continue in that direction? Now he is just spinning on a plate like spagetti noodles in microwave
Considering everyone will be able to vote since the beginning I’m not 100% sure that being last is a good thing. I would say that entries between 15-20 are the best positioned
I'm sad that this isn't about music anymore, but the only two countries that can still win now are Croatia and Israel. Let's hope that it will end up being the one that won't end up throwing the entire contest into chaos for years to come...
I disagree. Although Croatia is a favorite, i think its still possible for Israel, Switzerland, France, Greece, Italy to win. Possibly The Netherlands even. Like Baby Lasagna quoted proverb: "It's not over, 'til the fat lady sings" :)
We still dont know how the casual view will react on Saturday. There is always an element of surprise and luck. That is a part of reason why we love Eurovision Go Marko!
Finally Portugal 🇵🇹 gets a well deserved spot at #18 after always being placed among the first songs in the running order like they did last year with “Ai Coração”. “Grito” a stunningly beautiful, elegant song. Portugal once again is well represented at the Eurovision and this time with an unmistakable Portuguese musical song. “GRITO” DA VITÓRIA!
if Israel wins the final then we won't have Eurovision next year, many countries will boycott it and the public will stay away so vote Croatia ore Switserland please
@@luisdireito... It's second In the odds... Not to mention she's a great vocalist... And there are Israeli supporters and Jews everywhere who are probably going to vote for her for political reasons... And even people who just like ballads will probably vote for her as well. Maybe she being in 6th position will stop her from winning. She should've been 2nd in the running order but I understand why EBU didn't put her there.
due to the fact that there has been extensive media coverage of Eurovision this year, more people than usual will probably watch and also watch from the start as they are curious. So it will probably be different regarding voting and attention. so early participants can get a lot of attention and more votes than usual. Exciting!

I really like your videos and watch most of them, thank you for what you're doing! What I'm about to say is not a criticism towards Eurovision Histories, but more towards the mainstream eurofan narratives. The most famous argument about the non-equal spread of ratings is from Spain in 2022: the graph shows that in Spain during 2022 grand final most people started watching at around Brividi, missing a lot of stuff at the beginning, and the viewership peaked during Chanel's performance - it's true. BUT before you say that ratings during a song influence televote and that people who don't see the performance don't vote for it (tbh, it seems very logical) - you have to compare this ratings graph to the actual televoting results in that country during that show. Portugal was performing while 'no one' in Spain was watching - Portugal got 7th in Spanish televote that night (4 pts from Spanish televote). Romania was performing 2nd - when the ratings in Spain were in absolute lowest that night - Romania got 10 pts from Spain (2nd place in Spanish televote). The data about unequal spread of viewers doesn't reliably prove that less viewers during live performance = less voters for the entry. Another conclusion you can get from that data (which also seems very logical) - people who didn't see the first half of the show, people who watch five performances in the middle and then switched channels, people who otherwise don't care usually do not vote at all - this is the group that is at least not as influential in the televote. Probably most of the people who watch Eurovision (we don't have exact data) are not voting. Probably most of the people who do vote - either have heard all the songs before the show or have seen the whole show from 1st song to the last. A friend of mine was hosting Eurovision parties with voting - and usually there are some friends there who don't care about ESC at all. And if they're being late and come to party after 3rd song, they always ask us to let them watch the beginning before we vote. And if they're late and miss half the show, we let them vote (they're here and we value their opinion), but they decline to vote themselves. 'I haven't seen everything, so it would be unfair if I voted' - this logic seems to be working for most of adequate people. Of course, a performance can move a person so much they would really want to vote for it. Or 'I grew up in Serbia and Serbian song seems great this year'. But are such votes happening that often? Are they enough to change at least one point allocation in Spanish or Estonian televote? So, I don't see ratings as a big factor. Though I agree that the earlier the entry is the more likely it blurs in your mind.
I found the song fragment chosen, for reminder vote moments in the show, for Joost Klein (netherlands) very poor chosen. Do artist have any control over those? The fragment in the semi was terrible, taken only the serious part and not the party bits.
Apparently, some right-wing people want to vote for Israel just because they oppose 'the lefties'. The inclusion of Israel has made this super political!
that's the main issue, the 'producers choice' ruined it by placing switzerland and croatia in the end, when ppl will use up their 20 available votes before it gets to the real potential winners
Exactly, they don't have to wait for their favourite to perform, and if they do,then last six contenstants are in trouble, due to less voting time. But,if they vote for them early on, then they are in better position. As I said before, could be both.
In 2022 there was politics and the (however understandable) "emotional wave" in favor of Ukraine, last year there was a clever strategy that served to celebrate in Sweden the fiftieth anniversary of the victory of the favorite group by the president of the EBU, this year it has already chosen to let Croatia win, I don't know the reasons behind it but it is very evident, and has already been for a couple of months now. In practice, the last "real" and deserved winners of the ESC were Maneskin, and their subsequent great worldwide success confirms it.
Oh give me a break... "this year it has already chosen to let Croatia win"...you said this confidently like some secret community or lobby decided this.... the reality is that Croatia finally has a good song since independance 30 years ago... the song is catchy, energetic and lyrics actually speak about depopulation problem of a country and leaving home for better life...not to mention it's the only song on whole competition where and artist has writter the text, arranged the music and performed, WITHOUT the help of big studios and music industry behind himself...just he and his close family helped him... what is a good song topic for you? Constant subtle war realted songs every...single...year....? Discovering you are not male nor female? I don't get it....normal songs don't deserve to win anymore without LG TV stuff in it?
@@Terra12345X Meanwhile, many people know how the victories of 2022 and 2023 developed, it is quite evident. Regarding Croatia this year I can only observe the running order and the fact that for several years now it has no longer been drawn but decided by the EBU, and it is clear how favored Croatia and France are compared to, for example, Italy, Spain and Ukraine . As a musician I can only say that the song from Croatia, quite cunningly "inspired" by last year's success of Cha Cha Cha, has a certain rhythmic interest, is in some ways well done, but has many limitations, above all the fact that it it involves for about thirty seconds but after that it becomes cloying and repetitive, therefore little inventiveness and creativity, ultimately little substance which however has been greatly overestimated due to a clever advertising strategy.
Why is Israel now the 2nd favourite? A dull middle of the road ballad I thought? Why would it get a good televote? I’m baffled. Was going to vote for Norway as it’s my favourite but now …Croatia all the way….
Apparently, some right wing politicians are voting for it, people have boycotted the contest due to their participation, thus giving Israel's supporters a boost and I would also say that there might be a number of trolls voting for it, knowing well that the contest will be done for good if it wins :
The Italian broadcaster showed the voting percentages on screen last night. Top 3: Israel got 39,31% of the vote and 1st place, Netherlands was second with 7,32% and Albania third with 6,68%
Any historical analysis involving recency bias is out the window now that voting can take place throughout the show. We don’t know how this will affect things. People could burn up all their votes before most of the acts have even gone.
I also saw some mentions that there might be a decent amount of viewers that'll stop watching when Israel comes on and so being directly around Israel isn't exactly ideal.. Now I don't think Lithuania is a contender for the win (it's a good entry though) but being right after Israel probably hurts them further. What I find most shocking is the positions the Ukraine and Netherlands were put in, for Ukraine this might have to do with the fact that it would again involve a host country needing to be implemented, with the Netherlands I'm wondering if the EBU actually is purposefully drowning him out by putting him right before Israel because he likely would heavily rely on audience votes as opposed to jury votes so being in this spot will probably end up in him getting less votes than if he'd been performing later on in the show or even as a closer like in the semi. Croatia has a very favorable position and I think Ireland is in a good spot too, mass votes for Croatia might also happen as protesters are telling people to vote for them in order to drown out votes for Israel, they also have a very engaging performance. Personally I'll be voting for Ireland, Ukraine, Armenia, Spain, Italy, Estonia, and Portugal. If Croatia is the protest vote I might drop a vote for them but I'm actually not crazy about the song, for me personally it just doesn't quite have the musical originality or the exact shock/fun factor I'm looking for. I can't vote for the Netherlands since I'm Dutch and unfortunately I feel the running order hurts our chances so I don't see a win happening, I'm just hoping we could maybe still crack Top 5, I wouldn't be surprised if we end up in something like 9th place or something due to the running order.
I agree a hundred percent with you!! I really want the Netherlands to win, it’s my favourite esc song in a while. I also don’t really like Croatia as much, I don’t really get the hype, but I obviously would take anything over Israel winning
Like you said, assuming you're right: Israel is 6th so it makes sense.if someone watches the 8th or 9nth song, who are BS songs and straight after them is Ireland. Ireland s position also works amazingly good because if someone has wasted his 20 votes already, the 10nth song seems to be a perfect choice to make his final or last 2 -3 votes right
Nemo and Lasagna can do it! Let's get a good rank for Lithuania and France. Hope Dons will shine as well. Ukraine will do well from any position because the song is so good. This will be a fantastic show.
@astronautt69 well every single song has its own meaning which some people vote on that but I dont think our opinions matter that much in the end cuz of the jury as u mentioned
Ukraine is Not a second position song. Even if it wasn't a favorite it's just too high quality for the second spot. Netherlands also got ffed. You don't put a fan favorite in 5th spot. Sad. Israel was always going to be a threat. I put money on it months ago. Austria closing the night is the biggest wtf moment. That was such a bad performance... anyway.. Excited for tomorrow
Very surprised with Spain and Germany draws when we bring big potential audience. At least UK got it I guess. Ukraine and Netherlands slot doesn't make any sense as they were very likely Top 2 in their Semifinals
Hmm maybe they're trying to pull people in to watch from the beginning? Since most people start watching from later on when their fave countries are performing, so if theyre all mashed in the beginning people will watch the whole thing. In the end the producers care most about numbers numbers numbers money money money.
I wonder if showing different clips of the songs in the recaps would help. (If later viewers didn’t see the earlier songs, then show them different parts)
It’s so sad to see what this contest has become. And no, it’s not because of the EBU or Israel, it’s because of the fans. Eurovision needs to be about love, not hate, and sadly most of the comments here are about hate. Yes, some people are voting for Israel because of politics (which I agree is not what this contest is about), but then people proceed to tell other people to vote for other countries so Israel doesn’t win, WHICH IS ALSO POLITICAL VOTING. I don’t want Israel to win (even though Israel’s song is really beautiful), but I mostly want everyone to stop being babies and think that they are the only people that are right in this situation. Maybe Israel will win, and maybe they won’t, but please lets stay united by music, and not divided by it
In regards Israel and it's jump to second in the odds, this was an immediate reaction to a some factors, most of which may have little or no impact on the final itself. The main one being, people tend to get carried away with betting in the moment, and their second place in the odds (to win), to me is about as realistic as Ireland's fluttering forth / fifth place. I think both Ireland and Israel will finish in the Top 10, but more likely in the 5 - 8 range. Also, with the bookies, don't put too much stock in them either with a competition like this. Yes they get a lot right, but not everything, look at Latvia's qualification. The winner odds will jump all over the place when the show starts on Saturday. Also, I'm not sure how much the supposed leaked result of one, albeit large country, is a solid enough indicator of a big enough public vote swing to Israel to make them a genuine winner contender. The path I do see to an Israel win, involves it getting a really good total score from the Juries, because the public vote would seem like it is going to split heavily between about half a dozen countries at the top end, and if Israel cracks it with juries, then they could squeeze a win. How likely is this though? I'm starting to think Italy might be back in the game, just as people seemed to stop talking about them and France are on the rise too. For real folks, I still think this is a 5 - 8 horse race.
The thing is, Israel didn't just have a "good" score in Italy. 40% is enormous. 2022 Ukraine in its semi-final only received 25% of the votes, which was already extremely big, and at the time it really seemed like everyone was united to make them win. Here Israel's participation is a lot more controversial, and it gathered a score that truly no other country ever received, I'm pretty sure. Plus, Italy doesn't even have a big Israeli diaspora, or jewish community, so it's really hard to understand how it could have had that many votes, when for instance Albania only received 6% even though there IS a big Albanian diaspora in Italy. I'm just so confused.
@@lasthmatique Israel's qualification to go to the final, by the votes of the EU public, showed that the silent majority does not support the haters and the terrorists lovers. The average citizen which is the majority support Israel fight against terror and against the lies of the extremists. AND the song is GREAT!
@@lasthmatiquewhat ONLY 6😂😂 dude do you even know how much is the 6 %? ALSO stop assuming your own things because you don't know anything... Who told you ALL Albanians are Eurovision fans... Imagine if you think that every Albanian in Italy has to watch the show and pay 1 euro to vote😂
@@lasthmatiqueSome countries aren't forced to bow down to Palestine free and all these BS. Some countries recognise the evil because they are humans. And this year we need to win the devil, namely this unprecedented terror that ALL of you secretly support
@@YaelBewford Yes, 6% is nothing compared to 40%. That's called a "comparison". Also, I never assumed that every member of the Albanian diaspora would vote for Albania. The country benefits from its diaspora in Italy, that's just a fact, just look at the points awarded in the final of 2023 and the SF of 2022. My point is that Israel doesn't have a diaspora as big as Albania in Italy, yet they received many points. I never even implicitly said that the diaspora is the only factor. There are other factors. But 40% is clearly enormous, and it'd be interesting to understand how Israel received so many votes in Italy.
No matter how the end result will look like, I predict that there will be discussions afterwards about countries being robbed or pushed into better positions because of juries. That's what every year happens, and it wont change now all of a sudden
I don't think the running order would hurt anyone We all heard songs a few months ago,we had a plenty of time to choose our favorite or vice versa, last 5 songs could be hurt due to less time for voting?Don't know, really.Could be both.
Ok, but, most of people who usually don't watch ESC,won't be watching it in final, either or vote, either. So,I still think, only people who are invested in ESC, will watch national selections, the pre parties ,the semis 1 and 2,and then the final,so they will know which is their favourite and vote. And, voting starts before 1st song, so that's why I think it won't make any difference. If you have your favourite for months, you can start voting early, not even wait till they perform. My opinion,at least.Thank you.Regards!

Worst than the position itself, is what comes before and after. Last year Austria and Portugal lost by being not only the first 2, but by the beat and all that red, in the end they almost blended.
Hi Eurovision Histories. Being very late in the running order is not good. ESC Tom showed in a graphics last year that the most televotes are given to middle order songs. On the other hand, he showed that juries give slightly more points to entries towards the end. Looks like juries are more affected by the recency bias. Also, when Latvia didn't qualify last year you said: and that's why we need a jury in the final. Will you still say it this year?
Let's unite and vote massively for Ukraine - number 2 - despite the curse of second place position appointed by the producers. Ukraine deserves to be in top 3 this year (song, staging, costumes, vocals).
So terrible they put the Netherlands 5th. It feels so unfair to put one of the televote favorites in a dead spot. Same with Ukraine. Such a big shame of you ebu.
Ofc, there is scenario if Israel won, Netanyahu will use Eurovision as platform for celebrate win in that war which can be finish next year, also therenis high chance of terrorist attacks.
Everyone needs to vote for Switzerland, Netherlands and especially Croatia. I trust the juries that they will try to block Israel and have Switzerland and Croatia among their favourites (Netherlands not really), but we can't let Israel win the televote
Assumably the show will run as standard. This is an excellent point though that has been a bit overlooked. It can be difficult to get through to vote (UK experience here) as the lines are so busy. This *might* be more a problem for those later acts.. we'll have to see I guess!
40 minutes after all the performances. But, you don't have to wait for your favourite's performance, you can vote immediately for it, then you'll have a lot of time to vote.Don' t wait,if you like someone's song, I think waiting for their performance won't change your opinion anyways.
I think you have illustrated the thoughts that many people are now having on this matter very well. Somehow I can see that France is playing a role in the exciting phase of the voting and the result could be similar to last year (it wouldn't hurt me although my heart goes with Croatia 😊 - and of course their still is Switzerland) . I have the feeling that "things" have happened behind the scenes that have led to this running order but we will never know. As far as Germany is concerned, I hope that it will withdraw from the competition for a few years (it first have to recover and then start fresh with new people)
France has risen because like my parents, some people watched the show for the first time, therefore some songs received more fans you know. And both my parents liked the song so just from one.house 2/3 people like France.
I really like this producers choice running order. The run of songs from Norway to Armenia is a great section of the show pacingwise with a good mix of ballads and upbeat songs. Unlike previous years we're free from songs of similar genre clumped up together like in 2022 nor do we have all the favorites in the same half like last year.
So the whole point of the producers getting more leeway in setting up the running was to mix things up and spread around similar performances, yet will still end up with Serbia/Portugal and Georgia/Austria both only 1 spot apart from one another 🙄
Imho, this running order is less impactful than it could have been in previous years. Besides, if it will damage Ukraine (n°2) or NL (n°5), I don't see why it couldn't damage Israel (n°6)... And reading the fiery discussions about Israel here, I must say smth. about the "RAI leak". First of all, this was the first time RAI broadcasted semifinals - it is the first time Big5 countries participate in semifinals, having the right to vote for the round they are in (altough being already qualified). Not many Italians knew that, so we are not talking about great numbers of televotes in general, few thousands at most, Italians don't massively vote even for the finals... Semifinals on RAI2 reached 13,9% only at its peak (i.e. when Angelina Mango sang), against 18,8% of share for Bayern Leverkusen:Roma match on RAI1 and less than a tv-series on Canale 5 (14%). The share and knowledge of possibility to vote for the final evening will be much higher. Besides, Albanian song (which was second yesterday) received 6,68% of votes, Greek (3rd) 5,29%, Swiss (4th) 6,03%, numbers similar to Armenian (8th) 5,83%m Georgian (11th) 6,64% and Dutch (last) 7,32%. Israeli song received a block vote from a well-organized Jewish diaspora in Italy and it seemed huge because not many people voted. Eden Golan's is also a beautiful love song, a pop balad with high notes which perfectly match Italian taste for music. People in other countries may be more attracted to other genres and types of perfomance... I think it's very inappropriate to boo an artist (actually, it can trigger counter-effects) because of the politics of her country. The song will score high, Israel regularly sends songs scoring high, but I don't see it as a winning song.
I was so excited for Saturday, seeing we have an "open year" with so many possible winners, only to come down to 2 countries again 30 hours before the final because of politics again...Shame on EBU. Vote 23 🇭🇷
I have never understood the running order importance as ,for me, I could not care less: I vote my favourites no matter what their number is. This curse of nbr2 and other analyzis must concern those who watch just the Final, right?
I would say Germany and Netherlands got a negative position but it is what it is. Italy could have been a little bit later I think. France got the biggest 'help' I agree they will already get a big jury vote now I think it will get a decent televote too. I would have put Croatia last I think finishing with this song would have been the climax of the show but then it would be seen as helping him too much so I guess it is fair. At this point I would say the winner is between Croatia Switzerland and France which are all countries near my Italy. Probably Angelina can be fouth? I think last place will be Spain, I don't really get it, is it trying to be funny or serious?
Yeah I also think Spain is going for last this year, I can't possibly understand how this won Benidorm fest AND the Spanish are proud of it. My goodness I miss Blanca Paloma.
They did Ukraine so dirty, cannot even tell how disappointed I am. But as you said if anyone can do well from the second place it’s gonna be Ukraine. Might not win but hold a place in top 3 for sure.
People should realise at some point that at the end of the day, eurovision in a song contest, which means a good song with a bad staging is better than a bad song with a good staging.
For those of you who don’t know, Russia attacked Ukraine in 2014 (so much earlier than 2022) and it took EBU 8 yrs do disqualify them. It’s just a non-political political contest. Ofc Russia took high places but their only victory was in 2008. And now it would be be the end of esc if Israel wins this year So on saturday we have to vote for Croatia, Switzerland and Ireland since they are they the main competitors
@@krunoslavkovacec1842 I was dead certain of Switzerland, then Croatia, now I think Israel and France are contenders, so many moving parts, it's thrilling but I am exhausted from following it since the National Finals.
Malta not getting through with that performance was the crime of the semifinal. Literally, Malta gives its 1000% and gets paid dust. Every. Single. Time.
Most of my favourites are in the second half which is great news if I miss the 3am alarm. Any advice for voting? Does everyone vote top 3 or 4 or go all in for their favourite?
I think that because of the situation surrounding Israel, many people will massively vote for Croatia, or maybe Switzerland in order to prevent Israel from winning. If you also want to do that, then I'd suggest concentrating most of your votes on one entry only, probably Croatia. If you don't, then you can probably do whatever you want. But I think that since mose of the votes will be polarized between 3/4 entries (including the ones I already mentioned), using all of your votes for one country could actually help more, because the remaining countries might have less people voting for them overall and it'll make a greater difference.
Un banc, un arbre, une rue by Severine was 3rd and got Monaco its first and only win in 1971 And in 1984 a swedish group of winners called the Herreys performed 1st. While they did win from those spots. Its noticable this was long ago when there were less contestants and when things were much different in Eurovision. As years went by, the later slots started to win the competition more. So I do think you have a valid point.
@@FinestFantasyVI Yeah, I was gonna say. That was a little longer ago. They only had 19 participants in 1984, and it was before Televoting (I think). So it's just generally true that being at the start of the running order sucks. It'll be interesting to see whether that will change if you're allowed to vote throughout the contest. Thanks a bunch for the information!
@@minimi870 Another interesting tidbit I know is that ever since eurovision stopped enforcing the language rule, that Sweden has switched exclusively to english songs. As for this new voting option they gave. Well, we'll see. Considering Im croatian, i of course hope Croatia will win since we have 0 wins and I'll be satisfied if we just get 1
@@EurovisionESC Hey, I am not a fan of Spain. I have nothing against Germany either. Every artist brings something unique to this show and I appreciate all of them. What do you think of the running order?
hard to predict whether the last number is good or not, mentioning that voting begins from the start and songs who are first will have more time to get points
Serbia and Portugal too close to each other...
It’s awful even from the performance point of view
Three things mainly:
1. RIP Ukraine
2. Looks like they want Switzerland, Croatia or France to win
3. The fact that Spain ain't closing is a war crime
I will be voting for Croatia for the first time ever, like in the semi-final. Let's go BL, 🇭🇷 !
It s because we were kids... I clearly remember shows giving the odds here in Greece for everyone.
I mean it s not a trend of the last X years you know. It has always been here
I completely agree! There's no surprise who's gonna win, cause odds don't lie. In 2022, I printed the odds but didn't check them on purpose until I heard all the songs, cause I wanted to have non biased opinion of mine and I was shocked that Italy won, cause I didn't remember that song at all.

@@user-oq4uv3jb4y totally agree!
so it looks like EBU do not want Ukraine to win again....
Ukraine can't win every year
It'd be a disaster if they did IMO, Croatia would be a likely second and them having to host when they've never won and aren't a very rich country is quite unfair to them. I think it could make things awkward next year
2nd spot needed Israel they may not win! Croatia need to win! 🇭🇷
I wasn't convinced before, but I think now I am fully convinced. Zagreb 2025 :D
Marko will save

Thank you for a very interesting analysis (as always)!
I think having the televote open early will actually hurt people towards the end now. Will be interesting analysising it.
They have done it before and it almost didn't make any difference, most people vote at the end anyways.
Poor Slovenia ! But at least they are in the final which I am very happy for.
I mean, they could get a boost from being surrounded by favourites just cause that’s when people will be the most intensely focused.
Deja vu from last year. Between Croatia and Israel. It's like a condition under which Slovenia gets a late running order.
They will receive 35-40 points from Croatia and Serbia, they will be fine.
@@ThaGamingMisfit Her position is superbly suited for showcasing who truly deserves to win this year and how the bookmakers are mistaken.
i'm wondering if EBU is "testing" how performing second will be impacted by the new voting system by putting a traditional powerhouse country there. maybe they're also trying to demystify the dreaded second spot.
Thank you !! You are so spot on !!!

Other countries are likely to score low 300s or high 200s, and will likely have big enough of a lead over Israel from juries to prevent a win, although a top 3 finish would be my prediction - but thats totally dependent on them getting a big counter protest vote which we'll just have to wait and see.
but israel is unfortunately very jury friendly, cause it's a well performed classic ballad
Juries also know that an Israeli win basically means no ESC 2025 or the end of Eurovision for good, due to boycotts and Big 5 hosting or impossible due to security concerns in Israel - So the EBU might pressure them to not make that happen
I predict Israel will do a Poland 2016 (also a traditional ballad) with being almost last with the juries but top 3 in the televote.

Nemo is quite good, and talented, its amazing how acrobatic their performance is yet their voice is perfect. Still a strong contender to win
Yes,he does
Nemo would probably have chance if the staging was done better...

True
Probably a deliberate choice after analyzing test screenings. The casual viewer might be affected more by the fragment of the end of the song.
How can they put Ukraine into 2nd spot?
Apparently, some right-wing people want to vote for Israel just because they oppose 'the lefties'. The inclusion of Israel has made this super political!

It will be epic, if Ukraine breaks 2nd spot curse😅 I’m pretty sure Ukraine will do great anyway, no matter winner or not.

Why is Israel now the 2nd favourite? A dull middle of the road ballad I thought? Why would it get a good televote? I’m baffled. Was going to vote for Norway as it’s my favourite but now …Croatia all the way….
I really don't get it also. What happend overnight??
Apparently, some right wing politicians are voting for it, people have boycotted the contest due to their participation, thus giving Israel's supporters a boost and I would also say that there might be a number of trolls voting for it, knowing well that the contest will be done for good if it wins :
politics and money
1. It's an excellent song
2. The booing brigade have actually increased Israel's votes because people feel sorry for what she's enduring.
IRELAND might win the show. BAMBIE being 10 actually... Fits perfectly all the aforementioned criterias right 🤔
IRELAND might win the show. BAMBIE being 10 actually... Fits perfectly all the aforementioned criterias right 🤔
Like you said, assuming you're right: Israel is 6th so it makes sense.if someone watches the 8th or 9nth song, who are BS songs and straight after them is Ireland. Ireland s position also works amazingly good because if someone has wasted his 20 votes already, the 10nth song seems to be a perfect choice to make his final or last 2 -3 votes right
I'm worried about Lithuania for the same reason. I'll place lots of votes for Silvester and Luktelk 🇬🇧❤🇱🇹
All my favourites is suffering of this running order: Slovenia, Georgia, Austria and Croatia. .(
How is Croatia suffering? They literally got the best running spot 😅
Nemo and Lasagna can do it! Let's get a good rank for Lithuania and France. Hope Dons will shine as well. Ukraine will do well from any position because the song is so good. This will be a fantastic show.

Very surprised with Spain and Germany draws when we bring big potential audience.
At least UK got it I guess.
Ukraine and Netherlands slot doesn't make any sense as they were very likely Top 2 in their Semifinals
Maybe they weren't top 2 at all, we will know sunday...

Very good 🙂🇵🇹
I'm liking the Best of ABBA album in the background

I don't think the running order would hurt anyone
We all heard songs a few months ago,we had a plenty of time to choose our favorite or vice versa, last 5 songs could be hurt due to less time for voting?Don't know, really.Could be both.
The vast majority of people voting will see the songs for the first time on saterday. So early running order does have a negative impact.

3 out of 4 latest winners performed in the first half of the final
Let's unite and vote massively for Ukraine - number 2 - despite the curse of second place position appointed by the producers. Ukraine deserves to be in top 3 this year (song, staging, costumes, vocals).
Interesting running order, all in all. Serbia’s emotive song Ramonda 🎼 will become an evergreen, “I do think” (to quote the author here 😉). 💜 🕊️
So terrible they put the Netherlands 5th. It feels so unfair to put one of the televote favorites in a dead spot. Same with Ukraine. Such a big shame of you ebu.
"Such a big shame"....you are rude.
How can you be sure Netherlands is a televote favorite ?
Leaving apart the winning chances and all other issues, having Sweden opening and Austria closing is actually the best thing for the entire show.
Party vibes
Do you think that EBU will have huge problem if Israel wins?
I don't think they will win, top 5 maybe but no chance they will win
Ofc, there is scenario if Israel won, Netanyahu will use Eurovision as platform for celebrate win in that war which can be finish next year, also therenis high chance of terrorist attacks.

Why should we vote Switzerland or Netherlands? I thought eurovision wasn't political 😂
How long will voting last after the last song? It's not ok that u have hours to vote for first song and only 15min for last performer!
Can the performers make changes before the Grand Final, or is that allowed? Are they just a repeat of the Semi Final Performances exactly?
It is allowed
They can make small changes like outfit changes and stuff, but not like background screen or choreography
Yes the positions aren't random... If you can read them you can understand something. Personally i see Greece n Switzerland doing well and Ireland
So the whole point of the producers getting more leeway in setting up the running was to mix things up and spread around similar performances, yet will still end up with Serbia/Portugal and Georgia/Austria both only 1 spot apart from one another 🙄
Gooo Portugal! True music for ESC!
Vote 23 🇭🇷

All in for the favourites)) no need to vote top 3 just because it's top 3)
I think that because of the situation surrounding Israel, many people will massively vote for Croatia, or maybe Switzerland in order to prevent Israel from winning. If you also want to do that, then I'd suggest concentrating most of your votes on one entry only, probably Croatia. If you don't, then you can probably do whatever you want. But I think that since mose of the votes will be polarized between 3/4 entries (including the ones I already mentioned), using all of your votes for one country could actually help more, because the remaining countries might have less people voting for them overall and it'll make a greater difference.
