Dissapointing ending, people's choice didn't win again and this was a perfect time for Croatia to finally win, I'm resenting Eurovision now and it's given me a major heartbreak
We are not sad, we are proud. ❤ Just look at least one video of Zagreb today when Baby Lasagna came back from Malmo. Full main square in Zagreb screaming "Marko, we love you" when he performed today... Oh! ❤
Interesting to see if the Swiss entry gets the same treatment in his home country, I kid, we know he won't. Nothing about that carefully constructed jury bait speaks to people because it is simply not genuine,
Love him. He's the real deal, the proof that industry cannot look beyond the ends of their own noses. People respond to him and his music globally but he couldn't get arrested industry wise until a basic accident propelled him into the public sphere.
@@kevanmcdougallmph22 countries gave Swiss 12 points while the ones that didn't give 12 still gave something while only 2 countries gave Croatia 12 points and some of them gave nothing, and Croatia was clearly fan favorite while Swiss would be 5th according to people. Rigged and there's no way to make this whole LGBT propaganda and their whole ordeal to make any sense other than promoting their ways, period, people chose their winner, juries chose politics, thats about it
@@darkoperisic2958 Lmao what the fuck are you on about? The format has been the exact same since 2009 (except that in 2023 and 2024 there's no jury vote in the SF) - since then, with the exception of 2015, 2023 and 2024, the televote winner has placed at least as high or higher than the jury winner in the final result. If anything, the SFs being televote only could be making jury-friendly songs like Denmark, Belgium, and maybe even Australia fall by the wayside while sending televote-friendly songs through to the Grand Final - so countries like Switzerland which are OK in the televote and have good vocals (one of the best vocals of the night, compositionally ambitious and well-put together) get a huge jury boost because there are so few jury-friendly songs remaining, while televote votes are shared among the many televote-friendly songs! Croatia also placed 3rd with the juries; it's not as if the juries totally ignored Croatia...
As a Croatian dissapointed our Baby Lasagna didn’t win, but as a loyal Eurovision fan my relief in the end prevails. We went through 48 h of hell and fear, but Baby Lasagna and Nemo saved us👏👏😻😻😻🫶🫶🫶🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷😻😻😻🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭 Proud of our Baby Lasagna - the public winner who showed that political telesupporters can be conquered😻😻😻👏👏👏✌️✌️✌️
I agree and I’m happy with this result but I’d like to push back a little on the idea that art is completely separate from politics, at least as far as Ukraine’s popularity is concerned (I’m not going to talk about Israel). Like if you look at art history and how we understand it, there’s politics everywhere. Baroque art doesn’t make sense without all the religious wars and upheaval at that time; romantism doesn’t make sense without the national liberal revolutions; realism without the social consciousness; dada and surrealism are one reaction to world war one; post-war abstract art is obviously shaped by world war two etc etc. Politics is part of our world, it shapes everything and art reacts to it. I guess just because a country like Ukraine is undergoing war, it doesn’t mean it can’t produce good art. On the contrary, I’d say that its art will probably be more powerful, deeper and more important to Ukrainians. And other people will probably be better able to resonate with Ukraine’s art as a result. Popularity is about how well your work resonates with people. And you can’t deny that Ukraine’s performance was top class. And one of the things that made the performance so strong was the fact that it wasn’t just frivolous, the lyrics and visuals had deeper meaning because they were supported by real life events, they weren’t empty. Not to say other entries were empty but everyone could understand what Ukraine was singing about, all over the world. However, it’s not just that, Ukraine have consistently been top class - the only country that qualified every single time. It’s also one of the poorest countries in the competition, so that forces them to be creative and smart. Plus their culture is really at the intersection of many other cultures, east, west, south, north, they have a bit of everything and I think that’s why they are so good at speaking to everyone. Last but not least, last two decades are the first time in history that the rest of the world takes them and their culture seriously and that gives you a certain inner strength, inner fire. So I think it’s not just “political support” when people like and vote for Ukraine. They have liked it and voted for it since it joined the competition. I think there’s certainly something political but to strip that away from art would render a lot of art meaningless.
I honestly am not that surprised that Ireland got such a high jury score, Bambie's vocals have been so stable and pitch perfect throughout every performance. I'm so proud of them for that, considering how much pressure they were under and all of the chaos with the EBU that had been happening the day of the final. I'm pretty thankful for the juries this year, my dreams of Portugal and Ireland in the top 10 came true thanks to them 😭❤
@@MM-tz2bs A couple more Johnny/Loreen coincidences: 1. Both times they won, the host venue the following year was the same (Malmö Arena in 2013 and 2016, RDS Simmonscourt in 1981 and 1988) 2. A close neighbor country won in the year following their first win (Denmark in 2013, United Kingdom in 1981)
As a Brit, I felt our entry scored higher than it deserved, such cringe. lol. Croatia was my favourite, they owned the stage and you could see how the audience responded so well 🙂
Exactly my opinion. Last year I had the impression that Sweden has to win over Finland since Sweden prepares some huge homage to Abba and at the end we saw the avatars. Really sad.
I hate those stupid avatars. Just a tacky money grab. They fall flat to me, I would rather just play a record at home than watch that robotic mess. ABBA could have bothered to show their faces, even just one of them would have been nice.
After the success of the Liverpool Song book last year I was expecting an ABBA songbook. Conchita doing Winner Takes It All. Carola doing Mamma Mia. Schlarger Charlie doing .....well ...Waterloo I guess since she kinda won with a rip off it and at least she couldn't be worse than Eli and Nicki were in Baku. Bring back Mans for Does Your Mother Know. Loreen with something. Serteb Erener with Dancing Queen.
@@tddas8008As someone from the US, I really hope peace can come to Ukraine. I'd love the conversation about Ukraine be focused on the music and not the conflict. I really think the Eurovision recent branding hasn't helped either Ukraine or Israel.
I'm so happy for Croatia and yet so sad that Croatia didn't win, it's very hard for me but really Nemo deserved it even though my Baby llasagana is second 😭
Yes music is very taste based and this year the public taste showed clearly Nemos song wasnt rly their taste as he finished 5th. Instead of the music being for people it is a music for fellow musicians who are part of the jurys. Music for musicians is perverted. I am sorry but you cannot finish 5th in public vote and still end up 1st by a mile. It happened last year aswell when Finland got snubbed even though they heavily outperformed Sweden in public vote and yet it wasnt enough due to jury having wastly diferent taste. But atleast Loreen was still second in public vote. Eurovision have massive jury problem and its only gonna get worse.
Loreen was 2nd in televote. But Nemo was 5th in televote. Of course majority don't like the outcome because majority didn't vote for Nemo. If Nemo was 2nd or eventually 3rd in televote, it would be ok, but 5th? I believe that this outcome is not good for Eurosong. Too much politics and winner as 5th in televote doesn't sound good.
How does the rank matter? Its about points. Eventhought he was fifth, there were many years where the third had less points by tele, so rank is only secondary (especially when we see, that Israel only got telepoints cause of the situation, so you can consider it 4th most popular)
Congrats to Nemo. He served a worthy performance last night. I don't want to take anything away from him, but I think we have a jury problem in this contest. It feels a bit unfair having a winner that came only 4th in his semi and only 5th in the televote (the people's choice). Opposed to that, Croatia won their semis, won the televote and finished third with the juries and still didn't win. It feels very wrong to me. Cheers
Tbh, all of Lasagna's main competitors performed in second semi, so it was no surprise he won. Moreover, only audience voted in semis, and Croatian song is very televote oriented unlike Swiss one. If there was old system in semi finals, Nemo would win second semi I think.
@@RaffGoodman you don't see anything impressive in winning televote over ESC powerhouse Ukraine with a fan favorite song, also considered a winning candidate? But Nemo coming 4th is okay bcs "competition"? Okay.
@@JoeyCi yes I do. Ukraine was quite far behind Croatia among the bookmakers before semi-finals. And we have those results. While Joost (who supposed to lead at second semi) faced unexpectable voting for Israel. Israeli results were... impressive, so to speak.

Thank you so much for a wonderful channel which celebrates the kindness and love of Eurovision. You deal with difficult topics in a sensitive and empathic fashion and you perfectly capture our love for the contest. Looking forward to getting through post-Eurovision blues together with you.
I think we need a collective solidarity fund to support the nations that are worse of financially, especially the balkan nations. While I prefer Switzerlands song, I think a Croatian organized contest could have brought back many balkan nations.
I absolutely love how Germanys 12. place is celebrate by Germans as if Germany won the contest by 500 points. Talk about the lack of patriotism in the country. Of course the fact that Bambie Thug came 6 in televote, 6 in juries and 6 overall. This 666 is hilarious and the witch was indeed crowned.
I'd rather take a win from televote than the jury. Croatia won the people and I'm happy for that. Norway was great, easy top 10 pick, but for me personally they would be in top 5. Nemo was also great but not that much to get most twelves from the jury ever. Thanks everyone who voted for the whole package, songwriter, music producer, singer and charismatic performer such is Marko. ❤
"but not that much to get most twelves from the jury ever"...are you in a position to judge? e.g. Did you study music? I did...on that level I don't understand how Baby Lasagna got so many jury votes (than Italy for example)...surely not for musical talent....maybe the staging, maybe something else but not music. The jury had no choice but to award the most creative act ever to appear on ESC.
@@stefanogortaldi3156 If youre going off of creativity, Ireland wouldve taken it. The jury stacked Switzerland, and to me makes it a less deserving winner
@@jacob4448 best theatre act for Ireland for sure - a good spectacle - good fun perhaps but not musically...sorry, I don't rate Ireland that much musically - ...the blend of different styles and genres sound forced and pretentious (Greece does better job and Nemo a lot better still - all 3 very eclectic) - there are many gothic post punk acts which are much more interesting (only they are from the 80's and 90's...we noticed Bambie because it had no competitors - a bit like Baby Lasagna...acts like these make Eurovisioni like a freak show not a musical talent competition.

@@jacob4448 as a musician looking for innovative act I had no doubts - Angelina and Nemo - these 2 have something really new to offer...and it was love at first listening. I'm Italian...obviously I was exposed to La Noia...but then last year I didn't like Mengoni and didn't vote for him (just because he's italian). Apart from Switzerlan and Italy, the rest, didn't impress me - seen it all before...France gave me goosebumps - but still the same old ballad. Ireland was very dramatic indeed (good fun)...but I wouldn't spend time analyzing the song and I'm not interested in drama or theatre. Baby Lasagna? A phenomenal act on how to get the best from so little musical talent - he had a quick and dirty formula to win Eurovision and nearly did it (fortunately for Eurovision's credibility he didn't).
I could not believe my eyes seeing Germany on the left side of the board for the entire vote release. Even in the top 10 with the jury. I am very happy for Isaak.
Thank you so much. You're the best because you always spread joy and stay positive. And that's all that matters in Eurovision. Thanks to you this week was great :) I love the fact you're not complaining at all (I also think Nemo deserved the trophy). At last, my biggest win this year was the friendships between participants (Nemo has Bambie's crown of spines at the end, and the photo with these last two + iolanda and Marina hugging is my favorite). Glad Croatia achieved their best result too. Thank you so much and congrats for 10k subscribers.

It is fair to say you are the best analyst of the Eurovision competition on RUclips. You are fair to everyone and always find a way to see the best of each contestant. As for my country, I always believe that given quality of the song, the singer’s voice, the choreography and staying consistent with the values of the Portuguese musical traditions, PORTUGAL 🇵🇹 would be in the top 10. Parabéns Portugal!
I think the post-Sobral renaissance is something Portugal should be immensely proud of, Festival De Cançao produces huge quality every year but it’s always something that feels very representative of Portugal rather than something that is sure to have huge broad appeal (like Sweden for example who have been sending a radio-friendly pop song year after year and doing pretty well with it). I’m CERTAIN that with this approach Portugal will have another win in the near future, but I’m just so happy that they do consistently quite well and always send something they can be proud of. Grito was in my top 5 this year, I think Iolanda is an inspiration and a star (vocals perfect EVERY time, never once saw her underperform) who stood up for her beliefs and values in the face of criticism and harassment. I’m so glad Portugal chose her. Keep sending top 5 material, Portuguese voters!!
@@MintyDragonfly I got goosebumps reading your commentary. Thank you. I think Festival da Canção provides the right structure to select its representatives to Eurovision and there’s an overall sense that the Portuguese want to be represented with authenticity. If it wins like with Salvador Sobral did in 2017 - still holding the record for most points by a winner at Eurovision - great. If not, at least it is something we Portuguese feel proud of. Sooner or later, Portugal will win again! Iolanda did a great job! Like you said, she was consistent at all times.

First Kaarija now Lasagna. We still need the juries at Eurovision but 200 people shouldn't have the same impact on the result as millions of voters. It should be 60-40 or 70-30 % for televote.
@@elaifull If most people want it, why is it a problem if Israel wins? Unrelated to politics, but if the country competes, then they should be given a fair chance to win. After all, that would not have happened because Croatia received the most votes from the audience. What's the point of spending our money on voting if we can't pick a winner.
@@valis25 Because isn'treal spent money to buy votes. Their whole entry was political, KAN was extremely disruptive & having a broadcaster from a country that purposefully targets journalists, while the EBU claims they are for free press is just SHAMEFUL.
Leaving that country win would have a big conflict. You only have to watch the news. Plus, it wouldn't been a musical, but a political winner and EBU Can't afford that for the good of the contest. Croatia was wonderful and Switzerland too. The jury had to assess the greatest difficulty of a song and that is what they did. Having a crystal microphone is not as important as the pride of having delivered the best and the applause of the people. Enjoy this great achievement!
I think that jury votes vs public needs to be 40% vs 60%. I agree both need to be present to balance it. However, last year, it happened this year again. It cost money to the people who vote, and I think their will needs to be valued more. Odds kinda represent public, Croatia was first in the odds, first in the public, Israel 2nd in the odds and 2nd with public, Nemo was 3rd in the odds and 5th with public. This voting system needs an upgrade, and people's votes need to be more valued because they pay to vote, and the jurys do it free of charge
Yeah, I am not voting next year. Why spend money year on year to have our votes bulldozed time and time again by a few industry connected people who have zero appreciation of huge swathes of vocal styles and genres?
The juries were introduced to balance out block voting by former Soviet countries and the former Yugoslavian countries. The banning of Russia and disappearance of three Balkan countries from the contest for financial reasons kind of means this justification for the existence of juries doesn't exist anymore. The semi final results this year showed that Televote alone is quite capable of responding to a decent ballad and vocal performance without the assistance of music professional's as well
Don't forget that all European countries have block voting, not just ex soviet countries and ex yu countries. Nordic and Baltic countries support each other, Greece and Cyprus, Italy and San Marino, Spain and Portugal... It happens everywhere. However, televotes need to have more value since this is a public vote, and the public is the one voting and watching the show
What about political voting from Israel this year, and affecting not only Israel's televote but also affecting televote in several other countries? Shouldn't the televote results be under scrutiny and investigation this year?
I’m so happy for Switzerland, Ireland, Portugal, Ukraine and Germany. Nemo winning was so beautiful and absolutely deserved, what a perfect winner. And Ireland coming 6th is a dream come true for me. My gut said Portugal could get 10th because of the art and I’m glad I was correct. Ukraine getting top 3 from the death slot is amazing, totally deserved. And Germany getting 12th is something I was not expecting but such a pleasant surprise
Nemo's right, Eurovision does need fixing. first time 4th in the semi and 5th in the televote somehow won. if he were honest he'd say the juries have too much power. the odds actually did predict well- the televote, but not the cowards jury . disappointed with Swedish production, postcards and intervals were lame. hosts were great
Proud of 🇵🇹 entry. Proud of Portugal being possibly sabotaged by organization. The ligth side wiil preveil on the dark side. May the force be with you Iolanda 😍
Fun facts : nemo is officially the highest scoring jury result ever with an average of 10.14 points per jury (10.43 if you exclude Croatia for obviously blanking them) which SMASHES tattoo's 9.4 points per country record set last year . Also The code has received the most 12 points of all time with 22 sets of 12 points ( This year, France coming 2nd with 4 and Portugal 3rd with 3 respectfully) The most before this year was a tie between Sweden 2012 and Portugal 2017 with 18 sets of 12 each
Is it also the largest difference between the juries and the public? Because Croatia was nr 1 for the public and only received 12 points from one jury.
What does that prove? In my 45 years of watching the Eurovision Song Contest, this has never happened. That so many 12 juries award one country unanimously. With the fact that Switzerland's song is the worst winner of the last 20 years, otherwise there were better winning songs at the Eurovision Song Contest and never so many 12 were distributed to one country. This year there were songs that certainly deserved the 12th. This is a shame for the jury, politics, money and who knows what is hidden behind such decisions. Exclude the jury from voting. Just the audience and you are calm. You know who they love and you come to terms with that decision. This is pointless and the best 5-10 of the same countries to compete among themselves, the rest leave this shit.
Personally i think the televote is completely messed up because people just called 20 times for the same country to send a "political message". My suggestion would be, that IF you vote in eurovision, give your points to 10 countries. Not just your favorite but actually vote the same way the jury has to. This way the result will be a lot more diverse per country and not only "we banded together in this forum/webpage/telegram to boost our favorite"
If I was in charge of the EBU I would allow up to 30 votes per person but with a limit of a max of 5 votes for a country. More money for the EBU, more fair televoting results.
@@vaniacosta75 i don't think that would make it fairer. But it would definitely mean more Money for the EBU and that's obviously their Main goal in general
@@ShinjiSings But would stop the block voting for 1 single country. In the UK voting only costs 15p. I am originally from Portugal so I can afford to vote 20 for Portugal, I don't do it because I like to vote on my other favourites as well so I always end up voting for 4/5 countries. But I believe that there are a lot of people that just vote for the flag x20 rather than the songs.
@@vaniacosta75 would it though? People would vote 5 times for the same country and just stop. Especially those who only want to vote politically. But imagine that, if you want to vote for one country you were forced to also vote for 4-9 others. It would mean that the end result would be a lot broader.
Congratulations to Nemo and Switzerland, even though the song wasn't my cup of tea, their performance was fantastic and a great winner. It's nice to see 3 countries break their NQ streak and Ireland had a fantastic result so hopefully this means an actual national final next year for Ireland. Edit: wrong use of their
I am so extremely happy for Nemo! Yes, I was rooting for Croatia to win, but Switzerland is a very worthy winner. Nemo is a wonderful person and had an amazing unique song the earned the win.🥰 But to Croatians you can be super proud of Baby Lasagna. He was so amazing and got the country their best result under the Croatian flag. 😸 I also want to say that all the artists should be so proud of themselves for an amazing performance. The quality of the songs this year was off the charts, the ranking doesn't matter as much as the great music you brought to the stage.
Congrats on your 10k subscribers, you are such an interesting analyst with a lot of added value and keeping your mind in focus. A lot of this year's toxicity is to be put on the fan press who decided to put pressure to get Israel cancelled and just managed to add so much tension and stress for artists in this Malmö bubble. Even if the intention was good or not, the ambition was too huge and it just added toxicity, controversy and anxiety for some of the participants. Your approach and coverage of the contest in a reflexive manner are a breath of fresh air, thanks for accompanying us through this year. And a last comment for the final: Petra and Malin were absolute top professionals in the way they managed to host and lead the show, they made it pleasant to watch despite behind the scene tension. And I agree that communication on complicated decisions form the EBU (immediate expulsion of Russia and Belarus, non expulsion of Israel, Joost disqualification etc.) should be more timely, detailed and transparent. This had led to speculation and even paranoia. However I am afraid that this cancel culture has invaded the contest now.
Besa said it best - if he did something wrong let him be prosecuted for it but even if they wanted to protect the lady he allegedly verbally abused. They could have let him compete with his SF 2 performance on video. The only thing they got right this year was the winner. Nemo's right they need to fix things - for starters find sponsors who aren't from a country that comitts genocide, tries to censor criticism, bullies other contestants or weaopnises its own dispora to hand them the win for a mediocre propaganda ballad. I hate that happened and my country was one of the places the last thing happened in. Ukraine was bottom up - a huge outpouring of sympathy, this year that so called vote was orchestrated and I hate it.
@@gabrielaanampaguzman328 Yup initially I thought ok but now I think Besa had a point. If Joost did something wrong he should take the consequences but it shouldn't stop him competing if nothing's been proven. If they want to ensure the safety of his accuser let him compete with his semi 2 footage. I think there are going to be some hard conversations between the EBU and some of the broadcasters to stop the wheels coming off the bus and the Dutch broadcaster will be one of those with some hard questions.
I noticed during the voting, all the front runners were in the front row of the green room. So the organisers must have placed them there with knowledge of the jury result from the previous nights scoring. I thought this was meant not to be revealed until the Iive final…??
I'm pretty disapointed actually last years repeating when Kaarija was second because of jury. Marko is our winner ❤ if this voting sistem continues I wont watch Eurosong, it's just doesn't make sense. However just wanted to say I really enjoyed in Your chanel and thank You for all reviews 🙂
I thought this way also last year. But this year ther was huge political manipulation to vote israel so.... jurys doesnt work how they are ment to work but also televoting have this kind of manipulation so that doesnt always mean audience opinion eather. So maybe they balance each other.
Im glad I wasn't the only one who didnt like Loreens act. I thought that other song she sang was a bit meh and I would have wanted Euphoria and Tattoo. I also didnt really get that chair thing. It was all just really weird. My brother said that Loreen hates to stand and sing at the same time😂😂
I think one way of making the participants and the community become more united is to have a congeniality type contest where the participants vote amongst themselves to see who the friendliest was. What do you guys think?
Tbh I dont think this is a good idea because some people could change opinions about others who could win, causing them to lose both the contest and public appeal, meaning that anyone could technically hijack the contest to make themselves win and make a really good entry lose
Happy Switzerland won and the top 10 in general is was ok with. Petra was great as per usual, Malin was ok, but you could see the difference between her and Petra being more experienced, and more relaxed and loosened up. And i agree the semi final 2 interval acts were the best.
I've loved the contest through the second semi. After that I continued to love it but it was hard to ignore the dark cloud that hovered over the contest.
I think the right ones went into the final I couldn't swap Gate for Aiko nor Teya Dora for Electric Fields. I'm so glad I believed in Dons. I'm over the moon for Nemo my fave eurovision winner ever. The right people got the podium places and fourth place. And Bambie has won my heart - to think that I didn't like the song at first. With Luktelk I found one of the coolest songs in recent years. To see the progress of some artists like Bambie or Baby Lasagna from their national finals to the final shows how committed they were. I'm glad many songs in national language qualified. So moved that Slimane got such a good result. In fact the class of 2024 is so good that I only dislike one song. Eurovision has good years ahead but they need to fix their system. We have gone to hell and back since the second semi final , and some of the musicians even so. Thank you for your insightful comments. I'm glad you're happy for Isaak
🏳🧻🎉😽Guys, just stop for a second and think... Having such a festival as Eurovision is a privilege. (I know, you can't understand what a real war means, how it feels, but just think of a COVID years). Please join me in being grateful for the music, talents and sweet weirdness that we can celebrate every year just for a week. Hope it will last long.
Usually I don't like Switzerland entries or I have others favorites, this year though ,Nemo was my favorite since I first hear them and well ..now we are here :"3 🎉
"Something about (UK) performance wasn't engaging enough" - like having super gay sexual tension charged aesthetics, maybe? Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with it, but I'm pretty sure that it was that "something" making it unrelatable to the average casual viewer who, for the milionth time, isn't the average eurofan.
Ukraine this year was perhaps the first time an artist I already listened to went to Eurovision, instead of my discovering artists I now listen to regularly through Eurovision.
My opinion is very clear, the finale simply needs to be redone. Because the EBU has not yet come up with good evidence about Joost Klein. Suppose Joost is innocent, then gamblers (bookmakers) have lost money who had bet on the Netherlands. I also think the EBU should fully compensate the people from the Netherlands who came for Joost if Joost is innocent. Think if Joost had been allowed to perform in the final, Switzerland would not have been the 100% certain winner, given the semi-final result, it is possible that the Netherlands could have won the festival and the total result could also have been different. What is certain is that the Netherlands would have made it into the top 10 and that is not fair. EBU has no respect for a country that has been participating from the beginning, accusing someone of something you cannot prove is simply not possible, Joost should have simply participated in the final. You can also disqualify him later if he is really guilty.
Heartbroken for Norway. I think the winner was really good though. Point system needs to be revised, so that high quality but relatively niche acts get the points they deserve (Every country should get points from every other country, not just the top 10, as it severely punishes acts that regularly end up in the 11-15 spot, as they always get 0.
Every country gets *votes* from every other country. It’s just that only the top 12 scorers from each jury/televote are converted into points. The current system strikes a good balance. Transferring all votes into Eurovision points for the entire starting field would only lead to a more chaotic broadcast and would result in the end of the iconic douze points to jury vote winners during the jury call-in.
You’ve mentioned that the odds got it wrong but one thing to consider, it wasn’t known till the day of the show that the Netherlands would be out. I believe they would’ve taken jury votes that would’ve reduce the gap between Swiss and Croatia
I'm Belgian and although we had the best song of this year, I agree the NQ was deserved. However, consider this list: 2006: Kate Ryan - Je t'adore: semi final 2008: Ishtar - O julissi: semi final 2018: Sennek - A matter of time: semi final 2019: Eliot - Wake up: semi final 2021: Hooverphonic - The wrong place: 19th 2022: Jérémie Makiese - Miss you: 19th 2024: Mustii - Before the party's over: semi final Some of these vocals and stagings were on point. The real problem is France never votes for us...
This show emotionally drains me. I’m in a toxic relationship with this show. Let’s hope this is a wake up call for RTE to keep this consistency. Bambie thug has done an amazing thing for Ireland in Eurovision I hope they don’t ruin that.
Today Baby Lasagna has been awarded by Croatian goverment with 50.000 euros. He REFUSED award and told government to donate entire sum to children hospital for onchology deseases, and to Zagreb hospital for onchology as well. RESPECT !!! He has shown once again how humble and dicent guy he is ❤❤❤
This was an opportunity for Croatia, it happened by chance that Baby L. entered Dora. I am 100% sure that this will not happen again. Singers who are just starting out mostly register at Dora. And as we have seen in recent years, they send the worst possible songs that don't even make it to the finals. I hope that something will change after this year, but I doubt it, ours will continue as before. I am very disappointed because I know that something like this , will not repeat. This was an opportunity that will not happen again. I believe that is why people in Croatia are so disappointed. I adore Marko from the first moment I heard the song, and the fact that he is from my city was an even bigger plus. He really did a great thing and I am very happy for him. I was relieved to see that he wasn't unhappy because he didn't win.I think the most important thing in the end is that he got the most votes from the people, and that's the most important thing in the whole competition, people said what they thought with their votes
As someone who has usually likes Croatia , it Hurt see that "horrible entries " 😅 My favorite in 2022 ,feel so bad for 2021 ,rooting for them in 2023 and well..this year I like them but with time 😅
My question is, do the juries receive some additional information about the entries (such as translation and explanation of the lyrics)? Or do they rank them based on first impressions only?
About ABBA: I wished they had a video message for us and then the Abbatars. Instead of putting their old voices over the young avatars. But of course it was an ad for the show in London.
Well, I made myself a nice cup of tea again, to enjoy your video :). What a great review, I honestly agree with every single word you said, literally! Just one thing I wanted to add, and it's about Norway, my dear favourite since the beginning. I really, sincerely, desperately hope that they dare to send a song in Norwegian, as authentic and impressive as Ulveham again in the nearest future. I hope it SO much. Also I wanted to thank you for all these videos you did during this whole Eurovision season. It has surely been a whole lot of work (to say the least) and I'm very happy that your channel has grown so much recently, very well deserved!
Nemo is totally a winner for me this year, but Gjon's tears was even better and Switzerland was supposed to win that year as well 😊 greetings from Ukraine
I think that ending the show with Rim tim tagi dim that engages with public would be much much better ending. I believe that winner that is 5th in televote is not good for Eurosong at all. I think that juries were too biased (Slimane who was absolutely fantastic got only 218 votes in comparison to 365 votes given to Nemo). I think that televotes should be investigated because it doesn't seem realistic that Netherlands in televote gave 12 points to Israel. I'm sad that we did not hear Europapa, song talking about Europe without borders in the final. I really missed it.
Pozdrav. Mijau, mijau.😼
it really seemed like EBU was just looking for a reason to DQ the Netherlands. You could already tell when they decided to put the Netherlands on the 5th spot of the finale. And I think they were well aware of all the rumors going around, yet decided to be as vague as possible. People still believe he had a physical altercation with either the Eurovision employee or with someone from Israel. Knowing Joost, it seems completely out of character for him to be violent. It didn't make sense for the EBU to take that long to make a decision, since it would seem pretty clear cut what happened (since she was filming I take it it's all on film + she went against the agreements made). I'm just most curious what will happen if Joost gets declared innocent, what will the EBU do? They really need to pay for first of all the costs that we all put into this and damages to him as a person/artist...either way, it really sucks as a Dutch person to see all of that play out online with no word from the EBU.
Excellent review. From what I see, Croats are not sad - they are aware the best song (musically speaking) won. This is not a replica of Sweden-Finland last year, when a mediocre Swedish song sang by a great artist pushed out a Finnish banger (sang by a great artist). Nemo is a great young artist, exactly as Baby Lasagna. Or Angelina Mango. Ukrain song also deserved the third position, and also the French. So, let's talk about Israeli song, did it deserve this high ranking?
I think that the songs that were ranked low were not bad or horrible. They were actually very enjoyable, but just out of the overall mood this year. Unfortunately there is only one position for 12 points and a lot of countries deserving it. Very hard to choose. A very abundant year in terms of songs, characters and drama.
I love The Code, congrats to Nemo. It's like modern version of Bohemian Rhapsody. But I'm Croatian and I'm just so sorry for us and Baby Lasagna because I don't think we can do anything close to that anytime soon. And for the first time in my life I'm so happy Eurovision ended. This was all just too much and too political and too messy. I hope this never happens again. And Nemo is right, they need to change something.
Make 2 awards, 1 for public vote, 1 for jury vote. Make those 2 categories so that jury can blatantly give rainbow award, and public can decide the best song.
Not perfect ofcourse (nothing ever is), but way better than any number of sim cards/ip-adresses phoning in max points for 1 country for a wrong reason. The only reason should be how much you like a song/act. I'd love to see a working public voting system where you can vote for all contestants you like, but only once per contestant!
@@sybrand2 I agree with this! At the moment the televote is wide open to manipulation by a motivated group of people buying multiple SIMs and voting to the max on each SIM. It's not fair that a democratic system is being exploited in such an undemocratic way. I think jury reform is necessary as well. Lots of things for the EBU to do and improve between now and next May.
@@melissacorbett4180 Televote is the least of the problems here. It's the jury. What is the point of a song winning when the people clearly don't favor it by a large margin? In the case of last year, yeah the public favored Kaarija, but at least it was close call. In this case, #5 gets bumped to #1 That's ridiculous. So the takeways is this, make a mediocre song, play into the jury rainbow DEI requirements and win.
Proud of Baby Lasagna, disappointed by EBU, puzzled by juries... but let's move on... now that Eurovision is done, I wanna know why do you, @eurovisionhistories , dislike Lys Assia so much and when can we expect new episodes on previous contests?
I hope the same for mu country (SLO), mostly always won big countries that already hosted the ESC, the others don't have almost 0 chance. And jury is not jury anymore ... let me someone explain how Norway can be last in the final ... the voice, the performance was WOW, sooo?
What did you think of the Final?
Disappointed with the winner, relatively happy with the overall results.
A complete circus. With Netherlands out 🤡 Israel 2 on televote 🤡🤡 Angelina 7th(?????) 🤡🤡🤡🤡
Relatively happy with the winner, disappointed with the overall results
Very disappointed for Lithuania, kinda disappointed for Italy but so proud and so happy for Switzerland 💗
Dissapointing ending, people's choice didn't win again and this was a perfect time for Croatia to finally win, I'm resenting Eurovision now and it's given me a major heartbreak
Has anyone else woken up loving Eurovision still but thinking *why do we put ourselves through this torture every year*
Honestly just this year. It was an utter shitshow that just felt wrong to love.

We are not sad, we are proud. ❤ Just look at least one video of Zagreb today when Baby Lasagna came back from Malmo. Full main square in Zagreb screaming "Marko, we love you" when he performed today... Oh! ❤
You should be super proud!

People respond to him and his music globally but he couldn't get arrested industry wise until a basic accident propelled him into the public sphere.
they literally gave him 210 points though

Rim Tim Tagi Dim will live forever in our hearts, you can be sure of that !
Yess!!!!
Yes, I think the same
Congrats France and Slimane for an amazing performance!
I honestly am not that surprised that Ireland got such a high jury score, Bambie's vocals have been so stable and pitch perfect throughout every performance. I'm so proud of them for that, considering how much pressure they were under and all of the chaos with the EBU that had been happening the day of the final. I'm pretty thankful for the juries this year, my dreams of Portugal and Ireland in the top 10 came true thanks to them 😭❤
Pitch corrected in real time, maybe.
Celine Dion and Nemo both won after an artist won a second time (won after Johnny Logan and Loreen respectively).
Uuuuh wow
Thats a great piece of trivia!! Thanks! 😊
What a coincidence! I didn’t think of that
And Yugoslavia won the year after Celine 😉
@@MM-tz2bs A couple more Johnny/Loreen coincidences:
1. Both times they won, the host venue the following year was the same (Malmö Arena in 2013 and 2016, RDS Simmonscourt in 1981 and 1988)
2. A close neighbor country won in the year following their first win (Denmark in 2013, United Kingdom in 1981)
Honestly, this whole season has been so messy that we are going to experiencie post-eurovision relief rather than post-eurovision depression

As a Brit, I felt our entry scored higher than it deserved, such cringe. lol. Croatia was my favourite, they owned the stage and you could see how the audience responded so well 🙂
Switzerland winning after performing on a stage that literally represents their flag 😄how symbolic!
That has been my thought for a long time, how iconic it is to win on that stage😄
Oh i forgot to mention that yes totally!
And the most conflictual Eurovision was won by a neutral country 🥺
The Abba tribute was HORRIBLE. The show yesterday was boring. After Loreen won, I expected a better Abba tribute

@@TMPOUZIThis year was much worse, including harassment and severe censorship...
This year convinced me maybe the juries should stick around after all.
True, I heard that a few countries crew were harrassed by the Israeli,. Why?
Well I guess they got their way, because they got Europapa disqualified.
Thank you for the kind words towards Nemo.
Seems like it’s the season of hate right now, people can’t seem to tolerate someone else being happy
What Post Eurovision Depression are you talking about??? After this last couple of days, I only have Post Eurovision Relief.
I still feel icky from it 😅 can't believe that Croatia didn't win 💔
@@RaffGoodman no main competition in SF1? Ukraine was there, and Baby Lasagna managed to beat them in tele. That was super impressive.

Of course the fact that Bambie Thug came 6 in televote, 6 in juries and 6 overall. This 666 is hilarious and the witch was indeed crowned.
Yes they were crowned! ❤ and so happy for everyone! Love them! Best visuals ever on Eurovision imo!
Wow, that's really cool numbers for Ireland))
I think this was her actual target 666, not to win
I'd rather take a win from televote than the jury. Croatia won the people and I'm happy for that. Norway was great, easy top 10 pick, but for me personally they would be in top 5. Nemo was also great but not that much to get most twelves from the jury ever.
Thanks everyone who voted for the whole package, songwriter, music producer, singer and charismatic performer such is Marko. ❤

Thanks for your kind words
Portugal really surprised me in the best way. They really showed that you can have simple staging and yet make it so impactful.
Oh my God, I didn't even realise that our witch reached 6th in jury, televote and overall vote: 6-6-6 LMAO
That's so awesome! Since they didn't get the trophy, this is the next best thing.
Bambie has probably achieved the country's best result this century. The Witch done good.

For the next Eurovision I would like the backing vocals to be sung live.

Same I was so sad that he wasnt at least 2nd😢
First Kaarija now Lasagna. We still need the juries at Eurovision but 200 people shouldn't have the same impact on the result as millions of voters. It should be 60-40 or 70-30 % for televote.
On the other hand, I really appreciate that if already a top2, the worst song of the last year's contest at least didn't win.
In that case, probably israhell would have won this year. Sometimes juries save the situation.
The EBU is the “guardian of morals, truth and neutrality” (united in music) but who guards the guardians? Where is the system of checks and balances?
I think that jury votes vs public needs to be 40% vs 60%. I agree both need to be present to balance it. However, last year, it happened this year again. It cost money to the people who vote, and I think their will needs to be valued more. Odds kinda represent public, Croatia was first in the odds, first in the public, Israel 2nd in the odds and 2nd with public, Nemo was 3rd in the odds and 5th with public. This voting system needs an upgrade, and people's votes need to be more valued because they pay to vote, and the jurys do it free of charge
I agree. Or implement 70/30 voting system or perhaps 75/25 (70-75 public, 20-25 jury distribution).
Nemo's right, Eurovision does need fixing. first time 4th in the semi and 5th in the televote somehow won. if he were honest he'd say the juries have too much power.
the odds actually did predict well- the televote, but not the cowards jury .
disappointed with Swedish production, postcards and intervals were lame. hosts were great
So proud of Isaac!!! Such an underdog story!
Proud of 🇵🇹 entry. Proud of Portugal being possibly sabotaged by organization. The ligth side wiil preveil on the dark side. May the force be with you Iolanda 😍
50 years of freedom in Portugal, and Eurovision censured Portugal due to a nail? And wish for peace? And what about the European Union flag?
As a Swede, I was worried if the Swedish production could live up to the fantastic shown in 2016. Unfortunately, they don't even seem to try
The stage and princess's matching earrings were impressive.
@@olterigoi agree
Fun facts : nemo is officially the highest scoring jury result ever with an average of 10.14 points per jury (10.43 if you exclude Croatia for obviously blanking them) which SMASHES tattoo's 9.4 points per country record set last year . Also The code has received the most 12 points of all time with 22 sets of 12 points ( This year, France coming 2nd with 4 and Portugal 3rd with 3 respectfully) The most before this year was a tie between Sweden 2012 and Portugal 2017 with 18 sets of 12 each
That‘s crazy, I didn‘t know that! Nemo deserved it so much!
Is it also the largest difference between the juries and the public? Because Croatia was nr 1 for the public and only received 12 points from one jury.
@@lukastemberger croatia got 2 12 points from the jurys but it still goes with your point
@@MatthewEade-hj6tf True, yeah...
@@ShinjiSingsthey'd still be limited to just 5 votes instead of 20 though so it's an improvement?
Congratulations to Nemo and Switzerland, even though the song wasn't my cup of tea, their performance was fantastic and a great winner. It's nice to see 3 countries break their NQ streak and Ireland had a fantastic result so hopefully this means an actual national final next year for Ireland.

Belarus' DSQ happened a year before a Russian mad guy ordered a Ukrainian invasion.
The Grand Final was not complete, because Joost Klein was not there.
It depends on what actually happened in that incident
I get Why he couldn't compete, investigación and all that, but still felt harsh nonetheless😢
Thank you for another wonderful year of Eurovision coverage. You are awesome!
I agree! My favourite channel discovery this year!
I noticed during the voting, all the front runners were in the front row of the green room. So the organisers must have placed them there with knowledge of the jury result from the previous nights scoring. I thought this was meant not to be revealed until the

1997-2009 era with no jury votes and ONLY people votes were the greatest era in Eurovision.
actuallyt through all the other recent years the public won... so, what are we rally talking about here?
Im glad I wasn't the only one who didnt like Loreens act. I thought that other song she sang was a bit meh and I would have wanted Euphoria and Tattoo. I also didnt really get that chair thing. It was all just really weird. My brother said that Loreen hates to stand and sing at the same time😂😂
I think one way of making the participants and the community become more united is to have a congeniality type contest where the participants vote amongst themselves to see who the friendliest was. What do you guys think?
I kind of love this as a third element!
EBU didnt post portugals performance on yt till the votes closed to punish them unfortunately as iolanda's nails had palestinian symbols

Ukraine this year was perhaps the first time an artist I already listened to went to Eurovision, instead of my discovering artists I now listen to regularly through Eurovision.
One very minor note: This is not the first time a winner hasn’t gotten at least second in the televote. Zelmerlöw came third.
True!
This year was so emotionally weary that I don't have any energy left for post Eurovision depression.
The EBU can't force Sweden to rehost. It cost's a lot of money and would net far less.
Innocent or guilty, Joost Klein's appearance in the final (if allowed) would've hurt him and The Netherlands anyway.
Thank you for your review, I was waiting for it. I appreciate your logical and always very kind and respectful approach.
Norway’s last place shocked me. I had them in the top 15.
Norway did not deserve last place 😢😢
Especially as Germany was nearly catching them up!
However, consider this list:
2006: Kate Ryan - Je t'adore: semi final
2008: Ishtar - O julissi: semi final
2018: Sennek - A matter of time: semi final
2019: Eliot - Wake up: semi final
2021: Hooverphonic - The wrong place: 19th
2022: Jérémie Makiese - Miss you: 19th
2024: Mustii - Before the party's over: semi final
Some of these vocals and stagings were on point.
As someone who has usually likes Croatia , it Hurt see that "horrible entries " 😅
My favorite in 2022 ,feel so bad for 2021 ,rooting for them in 2023 and well..this year I like them but with time 😅
My question is, do the juries receive some additional information about the entries (such as translation and explanation of the lyrics)? Or do they rank them based on first impressions only?
About ABBA: I wished they had a video message for us and then the Abbatars. Instead of putting their old voices over the young avatars. But of course it was an ad for the show in London.
I thought they would have a video message. I read somewhere that they were going to as well
Well, I made myself a nice cup of tea again, to enjoy your video :).

I really missed it.
it really seemed like EBU was just looking for a reason to DQ the Netherlands.
And the recap in Semi Final 2
Excellent review.
From what I see, Croats are not sad - they are aware the best song (musically speaking) won. This is not a replica of Sweden-Finland last year, when a mediocre Swedish song sang by a great artist pushed out a Finnish banger (sang by a great artist).
Nemo is a great young artist, exactly as Baby Lasagna. Or Angelina Mango. Ukrain song also deserved the third position, and also the French. So, let's talk about Israeli song, did it deserve this high ranking?
I sincerely think that a lot that happened this year happened because of their participation :/
Ever say never, Croatia will send other amazing artists I’m sure ❤
@@mariarucci78 thank you for your kind words, I'm just sad at the moment, I will get more optimistic in a few days when everything sinks in
What do you think about a demoscopic jury being added?
In this case, #5 gets bumped to #1
That's ridiculous.
So the takeways is this, make a mediocre song, play into the jury rainbow DEI requirements and win.
