Have a 1 3/4 United hopper cooled, Lunkenheimer, cross magneto. We always disconnect the mag wire before we look at it crosseyed, in case it starts accidentally.

Brilliant to see the engine running. Isn't it quite, I was expecting a lot more exhaust noise. Nice work. Cheers Tony

Always amazed that this is what we started with. Not sure why they used hit and miss style engines to begin with. Must be a reason. Fun to watch though.

They were low compression engines so they could skip a bunch of cycles without hitting any combustion cycles and they would still have enough energy in the flywheel to compress some air for a combustion cycle. So they could run cool and at low speeds for a long time. Being low compression makes them much more tolerant of the gasoline which at the time was prone to combusting too soon if the compression got too high or the engine got too hot. So they were mostly reliable. They were really useful for farmers so a LOT of water pumps still survive alongside these old engines. They ran things off of flat leather belts typically. So they ran a lot of water pumps, saws for days, wood splitters, and anything else we would use a large electric motor or a small engine for. Sometimes they could have run generators, but their constantly changing rpm is clearly not great for lights. Maybe for charging batteries though.
There were larger and/or more smoothly running engines where they were needed.

Look a baby Bota, with what has to be a blue pill issue.
Better see a doctor about that raised bucket that stays up that long, could lead to other issues later in life.
You my young friend have a serious problem, but as long as the significant other.
AKA, Spousal Unit, doesn't have issues with the severe addiction to mechanical pumping machines.
Then therapy shouldn't be necessary for the time being, but that's liable to change at any moment, depending on her understanding suddenly coming to an abrupt stop, and it my be concealing of another type.
Hopefully this all was taken by all in the manner it which it was intended to be, because everyone needs laughter in their lives daily.
Nice little engine you found yourself, and doesn't appear to have many issues that can't be corrected shortly.
