Thank you so much for the extensive demo of just how well the Sirui is designed and manufactured. Even today, it is the swiss army knife of monopods that ticks just about every box there is to tick. You have managed to cover it better than anyone I've viewed and have sold me on its utility. Again thanks for your efforts ...
Surprisingly versatile. I was going to go for the Benro (S4) or Manfrotto, mainly for convenient shopping, but after watching this vid and searching Amazon, I found a local retailer for Sirui. Bonus! I think the feature that really sold me was its ability to stand alone without support (although sand bags are apparently recommended if you're leaving it unattended). I had thought the Benro and Manfrotto also locked.
You're the first reviewer I've heard pronounce Sirui like it's spelled. Usually I hear people say "Sue Ray" and I've no idea why that is other than perhaps Sirui being hard to pronounce.
Mine arrived today. I bought it for video recording in tight spots. The build quality seems good especially the feet. Time will tell how it holds together. Using a monopod takes a bit of practice and is a compromise compared to a tripod. However, Sirui seems to have made such a useful product, that in my opinion, this is an essential tool if you need to keep a small footprint. The printed instructions are in Chinese. No problem because Mr. Cheesy Cam explains everything.
Thank you so much for your review of the Sirui monopod. I was minutes from purchasing a different brand, and then I saw this product. Just received the Sirui in the mail, and I couldnt be happier with the features and contstruction...thanks again
Thanks for this CC... I bought the Manfroto, but it has the drawbacks that you mentioned... Love the Sirui for certain and will be getting that one. Cheers!
I am a lucky owner of the P-204SR model which has the same functions. I work mainly with a Sony PXW-Z280 video camera plus accessories and due to the fact that I travel a lot, the possibility of distributing the monopod and practically putting it in the hand luggage is invaluable. The quality is excellent and additional advantage is the weight of 1.3kg ... just great! I heartily recommend.
Mio Min Mio, I have this monopod, as well as the Manfrotto. It is beautifully designed, and exceptionally well-made. You won't find a better monopod. To get the best out of any monopod for video you really should consider a levelling device (I use the Novoflex MagicBalance) rather than a tripod head. It's kind of like a very low ball head. it means that the monopod can be tilted in any direction, but the camera itself can easily be kept level. the typical tripod head will only remain level if the monopod is tilted forward or back without any side to side movement. It's impossible to keep a monopod perfectly upright, unless the feet are utilised, and the camera essentially 'locked-off'. I tend to think that the monopod makes for really well supported hand-held camera operation...
I would definitely advise against putting your foot on one of the legs for stability. On a shoot I recently was working, we had two of the Sirui units. On one of them, one of the legs got bent really easily. The aluminum the legs are made of can't take any stress. The weak points are around the bolt holes. The aluminum stretched and now the monopod is junk until the leg can be replaced. It leans really bad and is totally unstable.
I just placed my order for this monopod! Such a banger, I also got a super nice manfrotto fluid head and that's gonna allow me to leave my tripod at home since the camera I'm using it's a Sony a6500... i'm stoked
I bought the a Sirui branded tripod today, i gotta say it's all quality it feels very very well made, not some cheap plastic, very well machined parts everything slides smooth will buy again.
Thanks for the detailed and helpful review. After watching a number of monopod videos, I bought a Sirui based on your recommendation. So far, so good. Thanks again!
Thanks for the great review! Just to be sure, are you talking about the SIRUI P-204S MULTIFUNCTION - MONOPOD ALUMINIUM WITH STAND SPIDER - PS SERIES? I see other models too on their website but they are much more expensive and I don't see the quality difference right away.
Thanks for a great review. You answered many questions I couldn't find about this compared to other monopods. I now know where to start my search. Bobby
My only gripe about the Sirui monopod is that it doesn't have the quick adjustment latches like on the Manfrotto or the Benro. Other than that, it's well thought out & as close to perfection as it's gonna get.
Awesome. I just got sirui 324sr and was wondering what the other parts-a spike, rubber cap, and another head stand- for. now I clearly figured out. Thanks.
This video is more of a review of the sirui not comparison between 3 or 4 mono pods. Also I would check with your airline about mono pods in carry bags. As some security believe they can be used as weapons !
Great feature set (had one of the carbon fibre editions in the past) - Though: The model I had was a little bit "grainy" according the horizontal dampening (on the top - which you can lock down). AND mine squeaked at the bottom ball joint. So I highly recommend to buy it new (so you get full warranty - And full replacement warranty if you get a bad unit ^^).
According to the Amazon reviewers, there seems to be a fair amount of issues with the bottom threading failing, and/or sections getting stuck. Anyone else having these problem/s?
Mr. Cheesy Cam, is there a model number/name for the Sirui you show in this video? The link takes me to Ebay with several different Sirui monopods. I am going to take your recommendation and buy it. But not sure the model number. Thanks..
Thank you so much for this video. This was super helpful in my decision purchase. Can you recommend a head with a pan arm that does tilt and pan with quick release for the Sirui monopod?
This isn't a comparison among these three as per as mentioned in the title and thumbnail. This is more of siuri review. So I don't wonder if this video is sponsored by Sirui itself.
MrCheesyCam it's okay but I found you didn't tell much about other 2 monopods which were there... So I won't call it a proper review video for all 3 monopods.
Nice video...I intend to use one Sirui for Fashion shows photography. Can you suggest a good head that will allow me to quick release my camera from the monopod any time during shows. Thanks in advance
All the reviews on the Sirui never show the feet being folded up. I wanted to know how quickly and easily the feet could be folded up if one is in a grab and run situation with your hands full. Would also be nice to know where it's manufactured. Especially since I see many Ebay sellers of the Sirui from China. Regardless, I purchased one anyway.
After receiving it I found that each fold-out leg has a button that you use to fold and unfold the legs. If one hand is full I can lean it on my shoulder and operate the legs with one hand. It is made in china but it's very well made. Sturdy enough that I used it in a pinch for some long exposure (4-30 seconds) astro photography shots, albeit, at it's lowest height. A little too heavy for me to take on long hikes though.
Many thanks for this video, very useful! Awesome product. Do you like the action of the twist-release joints of this monopod? Or do you wish there were a quick release version?
I do prefer flip locks, but the twist locks aren't really as bad as some make it sound. Once you have your monopod setup, you don't always need to adjust every piece constantly. If anything just one collar going up and down. Was still worth it.
MrCheesyCam, I am curious when I go to the Sirui website I don't see anything like the Sirui Monopod you are reviewing. The Sirui is based in Canada as far as I can see. The product that you are referring to on Ebay is made in China and Hong Kong. Is this a true Sirui product? It is an interesting product. I want to know what I am buying.
Yes it's a true Sirui product. Even the Sirui company retweets my tweets, and promotes my articles and videos. Of course if you buy overseas you don't qualify for the warranty that you would normally get if you buy from a local retailer in your area.
Amazon is giving this monopod with head....But I am little confused because of so many same monopod is shown...With different prices...Which one to buy....
Can you do a video on the Acebil MP-C200? Its similar to this but carbon fiber and currently $169.95, but has a Load Capacity: 44 lb. Doesn't seem to be any reviews on this product though. Or really any Acebil products. Thanks.
I have Sirui P-326 monopod. Is there a way to add this foot to my monopod? Is it available as an addon accessory.... either sirui or other company accessory recommendation..
thanks for the review. it was great. i would like to ask a question abt. the HEAD for the monopod. Is there any monopod HEAD that is suitable for BOTH-photo and video? With the hybrid cameras these days, which can do photo and video, i have a hard time believing that those who want to shoot photo and video, with the same camera, they carry two separate monopods-one for photo bead and another one with a video head.... if u know of any head that can do both-photo and video-, it would b greatly appreciated if u point out which head that is. thank u!
Great review, but it's all rendered much less helpful because you don't list the actual model number you're reviewing in the description, and your eBay link opens up a page with multiple different monopods on it so it's impossible to tell which one you're recommending. Please reply with the exact model number of the monopod you like so much, and consider listing the exact model names of the products in the information section of your future reviews.
MrCheesyCam My carbon fiber one just arrived. How they manage to send it around the world in 10 days for free shipping I don't know. Great product, thanks so much!

Your reviews are excellent. You're always concise, and extremely articulate. Cheers.
Best video I've found on the Sirui monopods.

I was wondering how to ensure the camera was level... You got the answer (Novoflex MagicBalance) but it's not cheap. Thanks!

cool video.
I think the title was somewhat misleading though. it was more of a sirui review rather than vs between the 3
Actually he can't say much about those anticuated monopod. Sirui has far more versatility and more story :)
at 8 mins I was like ok dude Im convinced.
Great video, thanks mate.
I bought the a Sirui branded tripod today, i gotta say it's all quality it feels very very well made, not some cheap plastic, very well machined parts everything slides smooth will buy again.

Many thanks for this review, just received mine in the mail and I am very impressed with the quality, features, and most importantly - price.
Thanks for the great review!

I see other models too on their website but they are much more expensive and I don't see the quality difference right away.
Thanks for this review! I'm buying the Sirui definitively!
Thanks for a great review. You answered many questions I couldn't find about this compared to other monopods. I now know where to start my search. Bobby
My only gripe about the Sirui monopod is that it doesn't have the quick adjustment latches like on the Manfrotto or the Benro.

The Sirui EP-204s has the quick adjustment latches instead of the twist locks
Best review I've seen on the Sirui P-204s, thanks!
i love the explanation of the features. thanks. separate panning is nice
The Sirui is a great peice of kit. I have the carbon fibre version. Highly recommended.
Sirui is nice but no fluid pan head, same price or lower other brands will do its job just fine for travelling. Thanks for the review.
I'd seen these on B&H a while back but nabbed a benro since it had more positive reviews.
Awesome. I just got sirui 324sr and was wondering what the other parts-a spike, rubber cap, and another head stand- for. now I clearly figured out. Thanks.
Awesome video man. Sold me on the sirui! Glad I saw this before I bought the manfrotto.
This video is more of a review of the sirui not comparison between 3 or 4 mono pods. Also I would check with your airline about mono pods in carry bags. As some security believe they can be used as weapons !
Your reviews are excellent. Best of the best so versatile, compact, super smooth best monopod ever! thanks for the review!
that Sirui is incredible. great video.
Thanks for this comprehensive review. Great info for something I'm looking at right now. I appreciate it.
Very professional demo! I got this item just today!
Great feature set (had one of the carbon fibre editions in the past) - Though: The model I had was a little bit "grainy" according the horizontal dampening (on the top - which you can lock down). Thank you for the review. Getting this for sure! :)
Shouda gone with the Sirui. (BTW, according to the manufacturer itself, SIRUI is pronounced SOO-RAY.)
Great info video bro. Thanks and keep it coming!
added to my wishlist. Thanks for the review
I have the Sirui P424S. It's the best... so solid!!
I just ordered one through your link. Thank you
Mr. Cheesy Cam, is there a model number/name for the Sirui you show in this video? The link takes me to Ebay with several different Sirui monopods. I am going to take your recommendation and buy it. But not sure the model number. Thanks..
Michael Jiroch There is only 1 aluminum version, I have the aluminum version. I believe it's 204.
Great comparison ! This made me order my Sirui monopod from B & H !
best of the best so versatile, compact, super smooth best monopod ever! thanks for the review!
Simply a TOP review !
Thanks,
Phil (France)
great advice a bought a Benro.
New Benro VT1 monopod base has lock nut now.
I see that, but it doesn't look like a nice design. Almost like an after thought and they threw it in somehow.
Amazing quality in your narration! Thanx for the video, i order now! Amazing review! Go on! Cheers Michael
Super. Just what I've been looking for. thanks so much!
You just review the sirui monopod!
Then you should buy the manfrotto.
No sponsor on this video. I bought this and there’s all the reasons why.
MrCheesyCam it's okay but I found you didn't tell much about other 2 monopods which were there... So I won't call it a proper review video for all 3 monopods.
Excellent video. Very informative. Thanks for sharing your experience and ideas!
A little too heavy for me to take on long hikes though.
Thanks for the great review!
Cheers from Chile :)
Thanks for this. Any recommendations for a good compact fluid head? Cheers!
Nice features ! Thanks for the review.
Thanks so much brother! Great review! Subscribed :)
bought the sirui monopod..
I'm having a tough time clasping this sucker...omg!!!
I just bought this bad ass. What would be the best fluid head to suit this Sirui monopod?
manfrotto 502
Many thanks for this video, very useful! Awesome product. Do you like the action of the twist-release joints of this monopod? Or do you wish there were a quick release version?
I do prefer flip locks, but the twist locks aren't really as bad as some make it sound. Once you have your monopod setup, you don't always need to adjust every piece constantly. If anything just one collar going up and down. Was still worth it.
Mr Cheesy, what is the maximum height of this mono-pod? Thanks for your informative videos!
Very cool. Do you always do these in one take?
For stuff like this yeah one-take off the 'dome'. I'm lazy sometimes but just want to get some of this info out there to share with you guys.
MrCheesyCam It's very impressive. I know lots of folks in the biz who can't do 2 minutes without breaking.
Amazing review! Thanks
Great Review, Thank you sooo much!
MrCheesyCam, I am curious when I go to the Sirui website I don't see anything like the Sirui Monopod you are reviewing. The Sirui is based in Canada as far as I can see. Thanks for making this video. Very useful.
Great review man! You convinced me, sirui is best!
Great video! What heads would you recommend buying for the sirui?
i orderd a sirui yesterday!
thank you for the review, definitely SIRUI is the best! I love it.
Great comparison!!! Thank you!!
Amazon is giving this monopod with head....But I am little confused because of so many same monopod is shown...With different prices...Which one to buy....

Great review dude. Thanks!
Great Review & Very Informative. What kind of head would you recommended with the Sirui? I would use it for both my camera & video recorder.
Any thoughts on the varizoom chickenfoot?
Does the Sirui feel as nice to hold as the 561hbdv-1? I do love how solid the Manfrotto feels and it has a nice amount of weight to it.
I have Sirui P-326 monopod. Is there a way to add this foot to my monopod? Is it available as an addon accessory.... either sirui or other company accessory recommendation..
This question might be besides the point, but is that a smartwatch you're wearing? If so, what brand?
thanks for the review. it was great.
i would like to ask a question abt. the HEAD for the monopod. Is there any monopod HEAD that is suitable for BOTH-photo and video?
With the hybrid cameras these days, which can do photo and video, i have a hard time believing that those who want to shoot photo and video, with the same camera, they carry two separate monopods-one for photo bead and another one with a video head....
if u know of any head that can do both-photo and video-, it would b greatly appreciated if u point out which head that is. thank u!
Than You - very well done.
Any thoughts on the Varizoom Chicken Foot Head Carbon Fiber 4-Section Fluid Head Monopod with Fold-Down Tripod Foot ?
Bryan Hopkins The Sirui is top notch. I think you'll prefer it over a varizoom monopod.
Can you mount a camera to the detached end of the monopod? (Using the handle to move the camera in a jib type motion)
Did you mentioned that the monopods usually come with the head included?
Thanks just ordered one. Going to pick up a benro had now. It's it substantial enough to carry the s6 head or would the s4 be better?
Cheers
Thanks for the great review.
Might it be straight forward to attach a Manfrotto head to the Sirui ?
Yes just get the flat base Fluid Head (not bowl mount).
Thank you! Very helpful.
is there some kind of maintenance you should do on the carbon Sirui?
my gets stuck and can not come out all the way up on the three steps it offers.
What head would you recommend for this monopod to use with Sony A7? Preferably a blue colored one to match this monopod.
Hey, thanks so much! Is the model of your SIRUI P324S?
Warm Regards,
Margo
thanks for the great detail video ... do you think the monopod will support Sony A7R2 + 24-70 G Master Lense / 70-200 G Master Lense????????
I would check out this new one: cheesycam.tv/THX
Thanks so much
Does this also come in a red? I like this but it wouldn't match (lol!) any of my other gear.
Thank you! Great review. How do I shop for a head of the type S6 Benro. Thank you.
what is a good head for the Sirui? S4? I am e film maker and photographer. i need for work like Wedings, conercial and shortflms.
Nothing, and I mean nothing has come along to make me stop using my SLIK U212 Tripod I bought decades ago and is still available....
Great video! Thanks!
Can I attach and use stabilizer Gimbel on the small tripod detached from the long monopod
Can you do an update on how the Sirui has held up?
Great review, but it's all rendered much less helpful because you don't list the actual model number you're reviewing in the description, and your eBay link opens up a page with multiple different monopods on it so it's impossible to tell which one you're recommending. Please reply with the exact model number of the monopod you like so much, and consider listing the exact model names of the products in the information section of your future reviews.
Mine is aluminum, and there in only one aluminum version. There's also a link in the description to the full article and it's mentioned there.
MrCheesyCam My carbon fiber one just arrived. How they manage to send it around the world in 10 days for free shipping I don't know. Great product, thanks so much!
I think you missed my point.
sidewinder3000 Thanks, I missed it.
