My dad saw ecactly this show life. So I got to know this guy as a youngster and still love him.
We are friends of Bernard Allison, knew his dad Luther too well and we knew Lucky Peterson for a long time... Keep the Blues alive! There is wonderful, soulful music to discover.

I got to see him at Slim's in SF. He was amazing and easily equaled Buddy Guy, the headliner.

I’ll be 48 years old this month but I was turned onto this Bad Cat in my early 20’s with a One Believer CD my BEST friend had acquired. I’m pretty sure my first wife’s brother turned my best friend onto John. My brother in law was great (RIP brother chunky!) but the wife was the worst of the worst. I related to “Devil in my closet” very much at the time. I had the BLUES for sure. My friend (RIP Tommy, aka Root, I miss you man!) loved this guy as did I. This would’ve been just as John put out these albums ‘92-‘93 I think? Root was a guitar player and one of the best vocalist nobody ever heard of and I’m a drummer. Funny thing about remembering John and finding this absolutely golden treasure concert here is that Root and my dad were/are both guitar players and because my dad is a picker I always stayed away from the strings but time marches on and I’ve just recently been bitten VERY hard by the guitar bug and have committed completely to learning how to play...and as with all things I set my mind to- play well. I guess all the years since childhood being around music, instruments, local band club scenes, great music, & great musicians (I thought my last name was Fender until I was 8 years old because “our family” name was written on everything in the house!) LOL 😂 - paid off because I’m picking it up quickly and now have Johns music to study. I was shocked and saddened to find out he passed away just as I discovered him and just as his music was blessing all that heard it! Another great one who was taken much too soon but who left his legacy that still Iives on in my heart and ears 20 something odd years later! Thank you Slim Campbell, REST IN ROCK & BLUES FOREVER MY FRIEND!

He was a kind of "Hero " to me . Rougher than any other, and if you know his very first record, a great guitar player, in the classic way ( what many don´t know )

Every time a young child is senselessly murdered, Tiny Coffins should be played in their memory. Too much violence, too many young children killed by violence. What potentially great lives have been snuffed out too soon?

@@iansmith8263 John died on June 13, 1993. Check out his New Orleans Jazzfest show at the Municipal Auditorium in May of 1993. His cover of "When The Levee Breaks" will take you the Gates of Hell. I was listening to the Howling Mercy cd during the arrival of Katrina in 2005, the power went out during the peak of "When The Levee Breaks", when that happened, I knew we were in deep trouble - and boy, were we!! I still get Katrina flashbacks when I hear this song, but I can't stay away from it.

The original video was much worse... I did my best to improve the sync, but I'm bad at video editing. I hope we'll be able to watch John Campbell's gigs in decent quality someday!
