About the interior cloth, I remember watching an interview with Frank Stephenson, the designer of this car. It had to do with lightness and uniqueness. Leather would have been heavier, and bare plastic was just unacceptable for such a car, of course. If I remember correctly, he said that he happend to stumble upon this particular fabric while visiting various suppliers in search of something suitable, he liked it and they bought the entire stock. It wasn't specced as "fake carbon", or made especially for Maserati.

The future owners were pushed into substance (similar to those used in the process of making braces) and the seat as well as pedals were then formed to fit only the one owner. Making it basically hard to buy one second hand. (Colleague of mine is dating a son of an owner of the MC12 haha)

Here in the Alps we have yearly Events where all Super and Hypercar Owners of the "Supercar Owners Circle" come to an old Swiss Airfield and race their Cars and also tour them on nice Roads through the German, Swiss, French, Italian and Austrian Alps, this always includes TWO Maserati MC12 as well as several Pagani Zonda, Pretty much every Koenigsegg & Bugatti, Lamborghinis from all Generations, Mercedes.Benz McLaren Stirling Moss etc.
For those curious to see them among many other Cars that only collect Dust in Garages of other Collectors, there must be plenty of Videos on RUclips if you search for "Supercar Owners Circle Event".

Doug, thank for your outstanding review of the Magnificent Maserati MC12.
I fell in love with this car the instant I saw the three-quarter view of it looking into the camera. What a stunning body design. Long and sensuous, built for speed and low and angry at the same time. The exquisite white and blue paint design belied a racing royalty lineage that extends to today. What a magnificent car. What a magnificent engine. I wish you were allowed to drive it on a track so you could go through, at least, three gears, at almost full throttle. What beautiful music she makes.
Bizarrely, one of the true quirks of this car on the racetrack was that, at over 200 mph going on a long downhill straight portion of track, these cars liked to allow air under the front of the car and they would explode off the track and fly a hundred feet in the air doing somersaults as they went. I don't think any driver ever died but it was impressive to say the least. The MC12 was modified to stop that for obvious reasons.
The MC12 is a track car. Although you were allowed to drive this massively rare, beautiful car, the long overhang front end and the long overhang rear end do not survive in a real world street setting well even with the life feature on the car.
Even this rare Maserati shows damage to the bottom of the carbon fiber fins on the diffuser at the rear of the car. This is likely trailering damage. This car is so damn long, trying to get it on a trailer that has any kind of ramp is nearly impossible without rubbing the bottom of those rear fins.
So, she is a very particular car. Built to excel on the track and defeat all competition. And she is one of the most beautiful, most impractical cars ever made.
Thank you, Maserati, for crafting the Masterpiece called the MC12.
