A heated screen is quite common on endurance race cars. Its easy for them to mist up while racing - especially in the rain - and a heated screen helps without needing a massive heater system.

I don't doubt that this is a carryover from the LeMans car as the lack of a defogger for the windshield would be a huge safety issue and using a heated wire makes more sense than carrying the weight of a defroster motor, heater core, blower, and ducting.

@@ber-js5we it's still very impressive compared to most cars, but considering the price range and the fact it's supposed to be a somewhat radical supercar / borderline hypercar, it became quite slow. Mind that an S Plaid is doing it in 2 seconds, you can buy almost 20 of them for the same price, and it's basically a rolling saloon instead of a striped down version. Or 2.7 with a Nissan GTR if you want to stay away from electric, for something that's still very usable as a daily driver.
Hell, even an Audi RS3 is doing 3.1 and it's one of the most bland, unimpressive "sport car" you can buy nowadays.
The power delivery is also something else, you'd have to be a very talented driver in these days to get these machines near the limits without killing yourself, the new supercars are way easier and faster (some will consider these are drawbacks though, but I remember a Tog Gear episode in which they tested the xj220 and they were already terrified from it, super fast in straight lines but tricky in corners).
This is still a gorgeous car and most likely pretty fast in capable hands, but we came a long way in 30 years in terms of performance.

The Jaguar XJR-15 is a unicorn in the true sense of the word. Its rarity is also mirrored in the videogames it has officially appeared so far, which is only three: Gran Turismo 2, Need For Speed III Hot Pursuit and Forza Horizon 5. Any other game in which has appeared is either a bonus DLC or a mod based on different cars. It's really a shame that this iconic car doesn't get the love it truly deserves from the videogame industry.

And there's something so cool about seeing those headsets in the cabin - made more cool by the fact that they're actually useful in a car with so much (magnificent) engine noise.
As you say, there's extremely few cars that are really race cars for the road and this is one. I'd love to drive something like this but doubt I ever will.

10:53 and onwards those are not vents to "help cool the engine", they're to help remove condensation from the rear window panel. A big hot engine directly below the panel with cool outside ambient temperature is prone to create lots of condensation. If the engine heat itself had to be cooled/disipated easily they would just have made large louvres in the window panel itself (like F40)
