You know you’ve officially arrived, when automakers are joking with you about their Dougscore. Congrats, Doug. Love seeing all the success!
Pretty sure that ship sailed a while ago
@@HarryMollyNut at least 3 years ago. The majority of Doug's videos are marketing videos for commoner daily drivers where he is paid a lot from the marketing department of manufacturers like Toyota and Honda (he talks about this in a podcast called the iced coffee hour). He didn't say this in particular, but I'm certain his Doug score can be boosted by these massive companies for a bit of a high 6 figure monetary boost.

Hennessey: We added soft close doors cause they don't add much weight and its convenient.
Also Hennessey: We removed the rear hatch latch to save 3 pounds.
They could get the Average American to lose 30 pounds instead.
@@srinitaaigaura LMFAO
Hennessy: we removed parts from your car to put on another car that I promised someone that paid more money than you, deal with it.
@@srinitaaigaura 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It is kinda funny, though it makes sense to me to add the extra weight for the doors when I think about it. Hennessey's rationale is probably that the doors are something you interact with every time you use the car, and spending a little extra weight to make the experience nicer is more worthwhile than spending extra weight on an engine cover, which most people will use very rarely.
That is a damn good looking car, and I *LOVE* the fact that the infotainment screen is as generic as they could possibly make it -- Apple CarPlay and/or Android Auto will essentially *be* your infotainment, and it will be updated as you upgrade your phone over the years. Very wise choices by Hennessey all the way around, in my opinion. Not to mention it sounds absolutely *AMAZING!* Kudos to them -- really, *really* impressed with this car.
The problem with putting the lattest tech in cars is the tech stay the lattest of current year. Automakers please take note.
The fact that this car won't have full federal homologation due to absence of airbags isn't a wise choice by Hennessey!
The dash and infotainment screen need to be OLED and not IPS displays. The hotspots and general non-uniform brightness look really cheap for two of the only things they put inside the car that you can look at and will look especially bad at night time.
The fact that the company said “look we know we are going to get a low practicality Doug score” just shows how big and well known Doug really is in the Car Industry 💪🏽
He is literally THE guy brands give their cars to review and give them a well rounded score. And I couldn’t choose anyone else except myself for obvious reasons to do Doug’s job
Not surprised to see that John is familiar with Doug. He's the same guy that back in the day would spew drunken tirades on TCL/VWVortex, Rennlist, Ferrarichat, etc.
Doug slipped into a major void in this spot and now basically owns auto journalism.

"This storage compartment can actually be custom shaped to fit a *certain* item that a car buyer might want to put in there, so...if they have some small *thing* they always know they're going to be carrying around, they can have that storage compartment tailored to fit it."
Hennessey originates in Texas. Satellites are linking up. Steam is coming out of my ears from thinking too hard. Wait a minute...he's talking about a gun. It's a gun, folks.
Possibly, but a panel on the passenger floorboard isn't the best place to carry a gun. Most people want it within reach.
That cockpit is not huge, you can reach it quickly.
Not necessarily, could it be a vibrator.

Koenigsegg has a V8 but the car has problem when it comes to speed. It kinda lowers it speed for purposes, but you know it has the highest rate of getting accidents. Most of the hyper car has accidents but koenigsegg has the worst. I am not saying I hate it. But look the costs that koenigsegg have and Hennessy Venom is surprisingly great car with money. Also the speed is suprising. Yes I love koenigsegg but to Hennessey it not only best for money but the speed!👍
the V8 with two turbos slapped onto it making that much power doesn't surprise me. what surprises me is the fact that an 1800HP twin turbo V8 that redlines at 8.5k isn't in some heavily modded drag car build, but in a BRAND NEW ROAD CAR that somehow PASSED EMISSIONS.

If people ridicule this car for using a Chevy engine than I shall rebuttal saying that the original Koenigsegg had a Ford engine that was commonly used in the Crown Victoria. Pretty amazing for an automotive tuning companies first real go at a hypercar all their own. Remember that all the supercar companies started out small, especially companies like Koenigsegg. Also, having a LS engine in your supercar is a plus. The LS series of small block V-8's are some of the best engines ever made in history. Why not have power and reliability? Hopefully, Hennessey will keep growing and be able to produce beautiful American supercars for years to come.

Well done, I did not expect something like this from USA, but after a legendary Dodge Viper this might be the next real sports car icon.
Why are you talking like the corvette did not exist ?
8:35 - I disagree with the claim that latches and hinges would have added about 1,4 kg of extra weight. The strong and heavy steel bonnet hinges for the AUDI TT, complete with the pair of gas springs, all weight a total of 1296 grams. Remember that they are rated to hold a very heavy bonnet clamshell whose size is far larger than the small and light engine cover of the Venom F5. Also, a basic steel slim-line universal bear latch (sold everywhere in the USA) weights 280 grams, while its mini version weights just 160 grams. A custom made aluminum hinge weights approximately 80-120 grams and considering the engine cover of the Venom F5, it will be enough to install two lightweight gas springs at 90 grams each. A custom made aluminum latch weighs no more than 75 grams. Two aluminum hinges, two latches and two gas springs would weight a total of 570 grams in the worst case scenario. If a single latch is used at the middle instead of two latches at the sides, the maximum weight drops to no more than 495 grams.
So cool to see and hear an American V8 rumble in a super hypercar.

A great quirky presentation as always! Thank you Doug, I really enjoy your style. One request; please, please, I beg you to pronounce it Coupé - since it's a type of car, and not a thing you keep your pigeons in!
i loved the viper venom from hennessey and how badass they were on magazine covers..my dream car as a kid in the early 2000s..a couple years later i remember there were message boards talking about how owners had parts taken from their cars without their consent, parts missing, blown engines, delays, theft etc. ..i hope they cleaned their ways now and wishing them the best with this F5 project
Doug is the guy! He doesn't bother with taking off the engine cover, he just gets a second car with the job already done.
😳😳😳😳🤯 9:25
BEHIND DOUG THAT'S GOT TO BE JOHN HENNESSY'S VR-200 (RED MITSUBISHI 3000GT VR4), THE _VERY FIRST_ CAR HE MODIFIED, AND WON A "LAND SPEED CONTEST" IN!! DOUG IS CLEARLY IN TEXAS AT HENNESSY DOING THE REVIEW SO IM THINKING IT ALMOST HAS TO BE THE ONE. IDK, IMO ITS JUST COOL AF TO SEE IT THERE.
Every curve, every detail has been meticulously designed and engineered to create a visually striking and aerodynamically optimized masterpiece.
"This car is missing this.."
"This car doesn't do this..."
"This car isn't good at this.."
Hennessy: "that was intentional"
Do you really want a fronk in your 1800 hp car? The things it doesn't have really aren't relevant for this type of car.
What does the horsepower have to do with the frunk? What i don't want is every shortcoming to be called "intentional".
Yeah some of those sounded like bs honestly
@@Carlisho its hennessey if course its bs lol
@@K6GSXRider Well it was intentional obviously lol.
"This compartment can be custom molded to fit an item they will carry a lot." From a car maker in Texas... I wonder what they have in mind lol
Something in a shape of that ignition key 😄
That's just what I was thinking lmao, what else would need custom molding
You deserve every bit of the success you’ve earned.
I’m watching this again a year later and since Cars and Bids has grown to the point that you’ve been able to purchase your dream car, the Carrera GT and I’m sure basically has secured your future financially well into retirement. Meanwhile, you get to do a job any “car guy” can only dream of.
Wait that yoke looks super cool. One question, where did they fit the driver airbag?
as a chinese viewer in China, I watched nearly every video doug uploads on youtube, probably my favorite uploader on youtube. I mean I hardly comment under his video, and few vehicles could make me excited. Of course there are plenty of cars could make me feel happy but not that crazy, even if Bugatti or Koenigsegg. However, that monster makes me totally crazy, a 6.6L twin turbo combustion engine without any electric motor which has more than 1800 horsepower, is so precious under the electrification climate. Both its exterior and interior are so beautiful. Hoping doug can review more hypercars like this. Cheers!
Yea, that 1800hp is just getting crazy! Like you said, most cars in that HP range are electric or have both an ICE and electric motors. Glad you appreciate a crazy V-8, and glad to see you have no issues with the firewall to hang out on YT. Take care!
Wow this car is incredible. The lines and curves are exactly what you are looking for from a car of this nature. This to me looks like the best version of this design style I have seen yet. Great video Doug, keep up the good work. :)
im not so crazy about the rear but the front is very clean
Me to, rear is confused but front of the car is great
I've never seen Doug scream like that when flooring it, this thing will tear your head off!
Everytime i watch doug, the car from the previous review vid i watched is in the cars and bids promo
You are one heck of a most sincere youtuber Doug. Keep it up!! I love your shows.
The key is in the shape of the “F” in F5. Also the headlight is in the shape of the “F” in F5.
first thing I thought, as a european: hey look, a pistol shaped key, what else to expect from an american-texan car
Came here to say this. How did Doug not put the 2 together?
and I thought it was a golf club 😆
I thought it was the mirror 😭
Please return the doug score part where you specify each category one by one thats one of the key thing I like about you chanel
Checked one out at Cars & Coffee yesterday. Most impressive.
