10:54 My mother is a real pro at working corners and has been for a long time. She has been winning prizes at country fairs for 84 of her 99 years. When we laid her to rest, we tried to include as many of her tools and tricks of her trade as we could find...there wont be another like her.
Her favorite projects were reproducing postage stamps as sofa pillows, they have lots of corners.
Awww. They sound lovely. What a great memory for you.
Hey! Just want to thank you because I suffer from anxiety and fear of failiure and that makes me sewing impaired, so I bought some felt to loose my fear but I still need to watch the step by step tutorial to get things clear in my mind and dare to start. thank you
I read your comment, and although it is 2 years old I felt in my heart I just had to reply, as even if you do not see my response, some other poor soul with our similar conditions may glean some comfort and benefit from it.
I am a 50 year old Grandad with physical issues due to spinal injuries, and following a nervous breakdown and 2 heart attacks, I am now diagnosed with both Anxiety, and Depression, and as a result of my injuries a foul opiate addiction I am trying to wean from. I have taken up many creative hobbies. I write stories, and poetry, I make models for tabletop war gaming and scene dioramas, I paint acrylic on canvas, Sculpt with Air drying clay, and have recently given various sewing projects a go, cross stich, and making soft toys. However my hands cramp painfully whenever I attempt fine work, and I have to take breaks often. I am constantly afraid of failure and seek the approval of my long suffering wife everytime I create anything. But I have found a great secret to temporarily shelving my fear. I tell myself quite simply that the item is only for me, for my eyes only, even if it is meant for my grandaughters play room. It doesn't matter, I am making it for me, to better my skills and learn more techniques. My waste bin is filled and emptied every week with tons of projects I regard as total failures, leaving myself feeling like I myself am a failure. But here is the secret. Nobody will ever see inside my waste bin. Nobody. How can anyone judge what they do not see. I must go through reams of notepaper every month with failed poems and stories, but they do not matter. Models of medieval buildings that I can see are too wonky or babdly painted, crushed under foot or chopped up, back into waste cardboard. But it does not matter. Distorted little felt creatures intended to be cute, but would induce nightmares for any sweet child, Binned. But it does not matter. Because nobody will ever see them. And for every 3 or 4 total failures, I make One. Just One. One that I am happy with. One I am confident enough to say "It may not be perfect, but by golly thats a belter" One I can be proud enough to sit on the kids bookshelf, or hang from a mobile. Comfortable in the know;edge that although it was bloody hard work for me, and I messed up a lot on the journey, I finally got it, I finally learned that new technique and created something lovely that my Wife, or my Grandaughters love. And that my creative Sister, is all that matters. Keep trying, keep failing, you WILL overcome in whatever you are working on. God bless, from the UK
@@KennethNicholson1972. Ahh, what a great attitude and you are so right that it doesn’t matter. I love to sew, embroider and knit. I have a love of all things felted. I do these hobbies for my mental health, they help me cope. They say that knitters can be either a process knitter or a product knitter. Most are probably a combination but I am 98-99% process. If whatever I am working on ends up a disappointment, I don’t actually care. What matters is the relaxation and pleasure I derive from the “making”. If a hobby causes you anxiety of any level, it’s not the hobby for you.
14:13 has really blown my mind. I always struggle with the ends of my stitches bc I don't know what to do with them. Couldn't figure out a way to hide them, but thank you so much for showing this! Other videos I've watched only show how to do stitches and stuff, and never show how they end them.

@@gegeaccessories9002 What is funny about that? How very sad and lonely you must be.
You're a lifesaver! Thank you so much for this video. I've recently fallen in love with the look of felt stuffed animals and I wanna be that mom that makes that stuff for/with her kids! So i'm gonna learn early so i'm a pro and can teach them too! Thank you!!!
Absolutely the best beginner video. Can clearly see what your doing. The tools. And an easy stitch tutorial. ❤❤❤
Glad it was helpful!
You are amazing! I want to thank you for your devotion 🙏🏻 I’m a big fan of your work and I got so inspired I even made my own RUclips channel although I’m far from your experience and skill. I hope to achieve them one day 💕🌸
Where are your favorite places to buy felt? Particularly, I know HOW to fuse the copper fabric to the felt but I've never seen a copper like that. Where do I find this and what is it? Right now, I love Taylored Expressions and they are such sweet people! You're an inspiration to me!
Wow I have never seen french knots done this way before! I will have to try it.
This is fabulous tutorial on beginner felt stitching! We love the Benzie Design shoutout for a great felt source! Thanks so much! ♥
Ya, so speaking of that and "Nope" Moving forward because I was aware of cheap product science years ago! What do you find is the best way to clean felt such as the heart you have there?
I just bought some felts to make little transportation toys for my son's 2nd birthday and tried to look up some diy... I love the way you explained everything, making it seems so easy!!!

Wow-the stitches on your heart are magnificent! As nice as a machine would make.
I would love mine to turn out like them.
Thank you very much!
Thanks for all the great tips...going to try permanent marker on my felt....
Great tips! I also like to fill some of my little pin cushions and pieces with "lizzard litter" which is crushed walnut shell pieces. It give a nice weight and feel, I will often put it in the base of my project to make it stabilized and then add fiber fill in the top. Thank you for your instructions!!
That's a great idea!
Although, I'm experienced with sewing and embroidery I've never used felt. Thank you for a comprehensive guide to the basics!
Same me...🥰

Love to hear that!!
What is the gold stuff? That I buy to iron to the felt? What’s it called?
Great! Just a safety note: Buttons that don't have holes through the middle, and other big add-ons are considered choking hazards on toys for very little ones.

I’m trying to find how to sew felt together properly without showing the seams. Anyone have any advice?
Nice
Thanks
please how to sewing garden lizard
Do you have any advice on how to sew Presto felt, the adhesive kind, with a sewing machine?
I would not use felt with adhesive on a sewing machine because it can gunk up the needle and break the thread. That being said, you can test a piece if you really want to try as all adhesives are not alike.
What kind of felt used for bead embroidery?
Thanks so much for your videos❤
I would use the wool blend or full wool. :-)
In my country felt is so hard like card sheets.
Can you show me how to make the octopus
Do you have any tips on how to curl felt. Specifically felt leaves. Looking to make a felt Christmas tree and want the leaves to curl up to give the tree more demention vs. laying them flat.
I would suggest you use wire between the two layers of felt. We do that a lot with our felt flowers on our site.
Love your ideas but I love making little hearts for Xmas gifts
Thank you!
i too make lots if christmas decorations out of felt!!
Hi Lia. I would like to ask if you have tried using crochet threads for your craft projects. How does it par with embroidery floss? Many thanks :D Lantis
No Worries. :D will post soon :D
i use crochet thread alot for my felt projects. Love it!!!
I'm asking this all over, hoping someone will have, if not a whole answer, at least some ideas. I have an old wool blanket that has been washed multiple times so has felted and shrunk. I want to make tin saddle pad, about three layers worth of this blanket. Do you think I can felt the layers together? What would be my options for doing so?
I think you can felt it together with a felting needle. They have small burrs towards the tip to interweave the fibers. I know many who shrink wool knits and add them into a felting project.
Hi! I really enjoyed your informative video. Thank you! I have been trying to locate Fiskar "Amplified" scissors but am coming up empty. Is there another name or term for them? Thank you in advance for your reply! Jeannie

What is the percentage of wool in felt?
Which is best for stitching and long term project?
She said the wool blend is 10% wool 90% acrylic, the heirloom felt is wool only..
Hello it's me Alisha from Nepal..i have handicrafts in Nepal..we produce felt product..we do shipping as well if you want to see our work you can message me..it's totally hand made with organic wool..
Let me correct a couple of things
1. The achol markers are called copics (co-pics) not (cop-ics)
2. The flat end is the chizzle nib and the broad point is the brush nib
Sorry I'm a artist and this triggered me a little
no one cares, artist or not. You’re just getting pretentious
