Honestly the Sims has been lacking so much in transparency and info like this, I feel like 80% of the negative feedback they get could be remedied by proper communication about these kinds of things.
@@kellyv4595 I think I agree with this comment. I can be extremely patient if I know something I don’t like is temporary or simply why it is the way it is. The lack of transparency is endlessly frustrating at best.

@@kellyv4595 yes!!! I was thinking the same thing, transparency and communication are SO important in any company. It seems like the Sims team has treated us like kids who wouldn't understand these kinds of things, but they're clearly wrong 😅
If I tried to build a traditional Japanese build then it would miraculously turn into a typical suburban somehow 😂

Lil Simsie explained in one of her videos that different swatches were fine if the same wallpaper. The game still counted it as one wallpaper. :)
This is cool to find out how the build requirements are for the packs. I'm glad they used popular builders to highlight the difference between pack building and fun building. Would you do it again if asked to?
If anything this just proves that the build requirements are nowhere nearly as stringent as the SimGurus hinted at them being, and that you can easily build decent houses without straying from those constraints instead of making the abominations that they shipped with some of the previous packs like Get Famous or Realm of Magic.
@@dependsonwhosasking I'm not an authority on this subject because I didn't keep up with the build discussion and what gurus said their requirements were. I do agree that these builds seem more lively and creative than the ones usually shipped with the packs though. However, these are also not as full and lively as I'm used to from james and deli (those are the only two I watch somewhat consistently).
@@lisascankdealejo6447 They had given LilSimsie a 'dev build challenge' with extremely stringent requirements like low budget, 8 sim, no moo, etc.

I really don't get why there aren't futons in this pack.. I mean the bedrooms look like normal western bedrooms not really Japanese :(
And the animations was already there I think because of the sleeping bags

We don’t have sleeping bags though? Outdoor retreat came with camp cots and inflatable beds that are basically just regular beds in order to not create a new animation. I agree for cultural realism, it would have been nice to get a Japanese futon mattress without a bed frame that could be folded away but because of all the sport activities and new animations there, I think the decision was they couldn’t justify the animation budget for creating a new “bed” animation when western beds are a thing in Japan as well. It’s a shame.
That would have been great! Especially if they'd take up less space than a regular bed... Even better if they'd put them away in the morning but that would be too much to ask for. But I'll look for some nice CC ones :)
You think all Japanese homes only have futons?
@@MewDenise No one said that. Not all Japanese homes have a kotatsu either, but the Sims team included them. They focused on more traditional items, so a futon would make sense. To be fair, sliding doors would also have been cool and traditional and are not included. They can't include everything 🤷🏼♀️
This packs design fits soo good with cc from Harry and Felix Andre that you and I use a lot. The kichen pack for example.
I love this build Deli, you did such a good job! I was told when I visited Japan and stayed in a traditional guesthouse that tatami mats can be quite fragile and expensive to replace, therefore you're not supposed to put heavy furniture on top of it (like sofas/beds etc). In the room where I stayed there was only floors cushions, a low coffee table and the futons at night on top of it :)
The platform with bath in the master bedroom would be amazing in Sulani with windows surrounding the bath for a gorgeous view of the ocean!

i like we’re getting to know what are EA restrictions. also it’s very nice to see they take it seriously to ship the game for the most people possible and also to respect the culture they’re inspired by.
I really love this build, however, there's one thing I find quite unrealistic. The way the bathroom is split levelled is the opposite way it should be in real life. Usually you would put the shower lower, so the water doesn't go everywhere and stays in that lower part. Especially if the shower is totally open :D But I'd totally stay in your house, it's perfect
there's actually quite a lot of toilets in southeast asia with the format!

Japanese bathroom are often built as one piece and meant to be flooded :)

I like the house but in Japan they don't really renovate older houses or add extensions. Usually they tear them down to build new houses or refurbish them to look like they originally did. That's at least what I noticed when I lived there. Interesting take on the house though good job Deli!
Yea Rachel and jun just bought some land in Japan they are going to tear down the house that was there, they said it’s because the earthquake regulations change over the years if you tear down you have to follow the new regulations, same thing for retaining walls having to be torn down when you rebuild have to be replaced with concrete ones
@@TaraLipinskifan55 Yeah! Did you see the video before that were they went on a lot hunt? It's so weird from an outsider's perspective that Japanese homes actually devalue over time, but considering how much the renovation of a retaining wall might cost one can only imagine the costs to update a family home to up to date regulations...
One thing I can't stop thinking about now whenever I see a bathroom in the new pack is why we don't have a bathroom cube with the pack xD (Obviously if Rachel hadn't realised they came as premade rooms we can't expect that from the Sims team, but I can't stop thinking about that now!)

A RUclipsr called Tokyo Llama is renovating a traditional Japanese home with his wife and it’s amazing how they kept pretty much all of the original architecture!

15:20 OKAY, I just wanna know why The Sims told YOU that light-on-light would be hard to see, while they gave JAMES' light-colored house a light-colored terrain??
And that's just ridiculous, who wouldn't be able to see a table just because it's a similar colour to the background??
@@InBloodChains People who have vision impairments. All computers come with a high contrast accessibility mode that may wash those objects out into the backgrounds entirely.
Edited to add for @sketchur, while that could have been an oversight due to the terrain being designed by a different team or maybe just not noticed, it's also possible that while the house and terrain were similarly light, the color tone could have made a noticeable change between them in high contrast mode.
James discuses this in one of his vids, I think he said it was because the lots were changed around, and then he forgot to recolour.

I heard that they changed the terrain on James' build to make the house blend in with the terrain because that's a modern japanese aesthetic. To have a zen house that blends with the terrain.

Already pre-ordered the game pack. I've never been so excited for an expansion pack as I have been for this one. My daughter is in awe that there will be buildings built by her favorite sims RUclipsrs.
I keep going back and forth between pre-ordering this. First pack in a while that I'm ridiculously excited for.

I think it was really smart for EA to have players/streamers build for the game. It really helps everyone understand that gameplay/builds are needed to be for everyone, even those with a different range of devices.
The Sims and the gurus should involve more creators into build lots for new worlds and upcoming packs in the future
Loved all your builds and everyone else's build involved in this new release. I am surely getting the fixes from James as shown in his video and i am super excited to play in this world and playing in lots that are actually cool to play and the new gameplay. Well done to all the creators involved in this pack.

You did absolutly great on this. And for the bath tub, in Japanese homes you would often find the bath tub in a seperate part of the house. So there would be, other than our bathrooms, no sinks or the Toilette but a small shower. In Japanese culture water means life and the bathing tradition is really big. I really love that build. ❤️

This is so good. I tried to build a tiny cottage yesterday and it somehow turned into a huge family home and I'm so annoyed. I wish I could build as well as all these awesome Simmers.

I love making houses based off of houses I’ve live in previously. My favorite house we lived in was soooo spacious and had split levels and I could neverr get it just right in the Sims 😩 I am soooo excited for this

My husband is from Bulgaria. His dad built their house so the toilet room is separate from the bathing room. I love it, actually. So you're not in someone's way when you're showering. Also, his toilet room has a sink for hand washing in it.

I'm not sure any of the 4 have even been to Japan. They did a good job with reference pictures, but I'm sure there are plenty of Japanese gamers they could have asked
Hello Deli! A suggestion for the Sims 4 creators is to make in-content homes, buildings, etc simple so that all computers can operate properly; but then to also create a special edition content (same buildings but with more detailed content items) for higher end computer users to down load. Just a thought. Great job with the new expansion pack! Congrats to you and James!!
