      Also when making a grand staircase that goes both sides you have the railing in the middle when you stick the two staircases. You can take it off but it also takes all the railing off and....well it's not a grand staitcase anymore

    I live in Japan and I think your build is very close to being accurate and looks very appealing! I'm totally in love with the traditional looking exterior!! Nowadays, most onsen are separated by gender (due to westernization after WW2), but I didn't like that anyways, so I'm glad you didn't include that haha.
    My Japanese partner thought that having western style fireplaces in an onsen is a bit unusual. Since many onsen offer both, an indoor and an outdoor bathing area, the indoor bath could've been located where the fireplace seating area currently is (across the showers).
    But despite that, it still is a very nice, authentic lot!
    Especially the lounge area and the vending machines remind me of my own experience of relaxing at an onsen and getting some refreshing milk from the machine after a hot bath.
    Just another random fact: some bigger onsen even have a dedicated restaurant area, where they serve traditional food like soba noodles.

      I'm glad that they went with builders that are loved by the community but at the same time it sounds like they ignored the fact that Deli wasn't comfortable with building a lot she didn't have any personal experience with
      She did a great job though, even though it's far off from her usual style (that's also why I thought it was weird to make her specifically build it even though she is known for modern builds)
      It's a big missed opportunity to work with the Japanese community, from a business point too because the market is big and it would have made the game more sellable in Japan

In a normal onsen you go in butt naked, so to have someone chill around makes it weird. They would be naked too so youd have naked people staring at you sitting naked in the onsen. And who would ever wanna sit there naked in front of the people in the onsen either?!😅 But since no ones naked in the sims it works well! The fireplace is not very Japanese either, but it still fits the build😊 and i think its cool theres no womens and mens side, thats how it originally was in the olden days😁

    Don't worry about the mismatched balustrade! It follows the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi: the view or thought of finding beauty in every aspect of imperfection in nature. It is about the aesthetic of things in existence, that are “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete”. A lovely build! It makes me so excited to play in the world!

    I’m not a big fan of modern buildings so I am very happy you decided to go traditional. Especially since we have modern in most packs, it makes this really feel different and Japanese! GREAT job Deli! You did a wonderful job! As a student, I rarely buy packs but I am definitely going to save for this one just the support you and the other simmers (I also love Japan! Top of my bucket list to visit)

    The build turned out so stunning, like with pretty much every build in this world cause they got in people who live and breathe building! Just cause you can create/help create a game doesn't always mean you will be good when it comes to playing it, so asking the community is such a nice step to see (same with the announcement on skin tones working with Simmers or colour).
    The only thing that is a bit of a shame, Deli mentioned that they were all worried about the onsen lot since it's something none of them have experienced, which is understandable, is not getting in another Game Changer or even talented well known simmer that knows a lot about the culture to do this lot. You don't even have to drop any of the others, could of been like a spotlight moment to help show us more of the amazing people in this community. Obviously it still turned out stunning and props to Deli since she has not been to one before!

    I love how this all came together - I think you did such a good job! Maybe I'm biased because it's cold in my part of the world right now, but I love the warm earthy tones you ended up using. I think I prefer more vivid colours and modern design in warmer places/summer time haha. Must've been such a challenge working blindly for those first drafts! 💜💙💚

    • @7Melly7
      @7Melly7 3 года назад

      @Kaylee Reese it's a bit of a historical thing in the Japanese culture. I suck at explaining 😅, but Japanese criminals were usually the ones that tattooed themselves to show their power, for instance the Yakuza (Japanese maffia) are well known to tattoo their status on their body. I believe this is called 'Irezumi', so over time tattoo's have become a dirty image. I have one on my side, so it doesn't show. But I've spoken to traveler's that weren't approached by people out of fear when their tattoo's got noticed. It's usually the elderly that react a bit frightened though. In terms of visiting Onsen and other types of spa's it's probably because they don't want other people to feel uncomfortable, I think 🤔 I myself knew this before going to Japan. Now if you're a person that has tattoo's everywhere, it's not like you'll be mistreated, the Japanese people are very kind and respectful but also timid. The younger generation don't see the tattoo's as an anti social or gang affiliated thing as the elderly do.
