I love that these simmers got this opportunity and I’m extremely happy that EA has brought in these builders, BUT at the same time I’m kind of sad that not one of them is Japanese.
I don’t even think they have to be Japanese but I would have liked to see a little more research or consultation with a traditional Japanese designer go into these builds. In all these build videos they don’t seem to mention much research or intention in the builds in terms of staying traditional

I'd put it this way: original gazebo looks like Japanese style and the weird gazebo looks more like Chinese style. From what I have seen in both countries.

That's what I was about to say! I am so impressed that Sims team include Asian style roofs! Her second gazebo was not weird looking at all to me as a Chinese and studied Chinese architecture history for a semester in college.

Not noticing terrain paint is also a good thing because it means it looks perfectly natural and meant to be. I will of course check out the details once the pack comes out!

I quite like "the weird gazebo" for a different park but the one that will ship suits the pack better :)

i think the octagonal gazebo kinda resembles more of a southeast asian look because of the structure of the roof, more so if you had changed it to the thatch roofing. the final looks stunning 🤍✨
I liked the weird gazebo! I only think it wouldn't have fit in cuz the roofing was much more intricate than any other lot lol. Good call pushing back on the sculpture too, it's a gorgeous asset but definitely wouldn't have fit aesthetically - plus it's waaaay too big for the lot size. Stunning build either way!! I appreciate the purple flower terrain paint 🤣😃
Honestly if they had wanted the sculpture there so badly they could've changed it to be in that empty space of grass next to the park that looks like something should be there. 🤷🏻♀️

I honestly wouldn’t of thought anything bad if I opened my game to this lot and the second gazebo was in the game, I think they are equally beautiful. I can see how the first one is more traditional and fits the park and surroundings better, but the second gazebo is artistic and fun, I prefer the second one tbh🤷🏻♀️ You did an amazing job Deli!
The second gazebo has a very... how should I put this... "western builder emulating 'asian' style" vibe to it. It would fit in an "oriental-style" garden built in like, willow creek just fine, but in an actually recognisably Japanese-style environment it looks decidedly out of place.

I hope that they continue to allow creators to build! I also like that the have dived deeper into the culture with this pack, hope they start doing that with the European expansions as well
this and James's lounge are probably my fave lots, would love for you to redo it with full cheats enabled for the gallery!!

I’m with lots of other people, the gazebo looks nice, it just doesn’t fit in as well with the world. I saw someone say it looks more Southeast Asian rather than Japanese. No need to be so hard on yourself about it :)
I did like the second gazebo but the first one fits this park better. I love the way the light shines through the upper windows.
The weird gazebo is pretty cool, but less japanese and more.... I dunno. I get a kind of indian vibe from it. I think it was a good choice to get rid of it. Nevertheless it's a cool build!

In traditional China they built these so the Chinese either expanded to India or India wanted it to look like China's ones (you interrupted my food theory episode) :(

I hate online uni so much 😩😭 I just started a week ago and it's super hard to motivate myself... I was super excited for college pre Corona and now I don't want to do anything 🙈 I have a chemistry lesson on Zoom right now but can't put my phone away 😅 it's so hard to actually study, when your bed is next to you - I'd rather be on campus

I wish you hadn't put yourself down so much for the octagonal gazebo! I loved it and really really thought it was creative, the plain one certainly fits the theme of this pack more, however it was so cool to see something so different. I would love to see a style like that elsewhere in another build!

I like the hat gazebo! You should design a park around that! The one that shipped feels like it fit more the aesthetic of the pack though so I totally get where the team was coming from. Great job deli!
Your builds are Amazing. You did awesome, esp on the Onsen. But I do love this park. Its nice to have a little park to go to and not a massive lot. Also it blends in so well with the world around it.

Deli your weird gazebo wasn’t that bad, it was actually kinda cute. But I do like the other one better. Also I think the bird sculpture, would have fit in all right whit the style if you had picked the green mossy swatch, but then the bridge and the water would have been too much and this looks a lot better. Maybe the sims team could have put it in the grass area behind the lot, whit the bird facing away from the park, I think that area looks a little bit empty. Anyway, awesome build, I want to take my sims on a first date there so badly!!
The second one isn't as bad as James /Sims team might have made it seem. Like it could've worked. Defs saw your vision here 🔒
Everyone's already said their piece, but I think the only reason the "weird" gazebo looked weird to James, the Sims team, and now to you, Deli, is because of the rest of the park's theme. You had an image in mind, you have a traditional style, and then suddenly there was a huge change that looked and felt drastically different. And because nothing else in the build changed, it stands out. I really do think that gazebo is very nice and interesting to look at, but it would do SO much better in it's own park.
I love the weird gazebo because it is the most nostalgic thing ever. My primary school had that exact gazebo in the playground ❤️

I do like the shape of the gazebo, but didn’t love the roof with all those extra pieces sticking out. I think square is more traditional to Japan though. On the plus side, you’re lucky to have James be honest with you to help you do your best - he’s not just telling you it’s great just to make you happy, and that’s very important. I one of those weird people who looks at extra detail on lots, so you're terrain details were so aesthitically pleasing. Like painting beneath the chess table and chairs, builders sometimes for get to do that and I go in and do it myself.
I like both. I think you did a great job on both. Nothing wrong with being different!!!....I am so excited for this pack to come out on the 13th of November 2020. I have one week to wait and I wish it was here already. This, to me, is the best pack so far in Sims 4...
I love the gazebo! I get why the Sims team wanted you to change it though, it's not traditional Japanese. I think it would work great in a different world. 👍
Love the terrain paint!!! I like the octagonal gazebo... I just think the traditional one fits the world better. If the world was big enough for 2 parks.... and it should be .... I would like it with some other park features that might help with rags to riches stories

I like the second gazebo, but can see why it was played safe, it does look a little like a samuri hat and that could be inflamatory. I don't think it's a bad gazebo I just think it's time to shine hadn't arrived. Again though *whispers* I liked it.

Just so you know, when I first saw this lot in your overview of the lots you built - I IMMEDIATELY noticed how much detail went into the terrain paint.
I like the shape of that experimental gazebo but not the top of it. Overall, the finished product looks awesome.

I am super happy for Deli and James a Kayla and any other game changers that were asked to work on this pack. However I find it rather annoying that EA thinks if they improve the BUILDS it will make the game better... yeah as if THAT is the issue. We know they have restrictions they work with when building and lets be honest no one has ever kept an EA build in their game lol. Honestly they could have put this effort into giving us some substantial game play and not something like Sulini that looks nice but there isn't a lot of replay value to that pack. I mean one of the new festivals they added, you can't even do anything when you go there... why make a festival we can't interact with? Again super happy for the game changers, but still majorly disappointed in EA... yet again. I mean I guess what can we expect from a company that is being sued by several different countries for illegal and unlicensed gambling in sports games directed at children, and EA's response was that they didn't want the judge to make the case public so it wouldn't tarnish their reputation. Okay so clearly they know what they are doing is wrong, so why are they fighting to keep it in their games? OH, that's right because money and according to them gambling isn't additive even though thousands of studies show otherwise. I believe their response to the judge was, well we don't agree with those studies. M'kay EA whatever you say..
I quite like the second gazebo but for a different park or build.
I have to say the gazebo doesn’t look as horrible as i thought it would the way you told the story but it really doesn’t fit with the style of the park at all. In a different themed game you could integrate it.

I think it was the weird roof on your octagonal gazebo that made it weird.

I am really sad that the new roof trim didn't make it into the pack! When I saw it, I was SUPER excited and a few seconds later you have to shatter my dreams (just kidding, I know it's not your fault at all)
