- In today's FASA Mission Briefing we take a look at the Klingon D-10 Riskadh class cruiser. A truly impressive design.But.....can we make it more Klingon? We think so.
Here's a complete list of the FASA Klingon ships for you all to check out:

I was thinking about this, after I watched it a couple days ago. And i came up with a refit based on some of your criticisms, which I think would be a nice Early Lost Era design.
D-10I Heavy Battlecruiser
Following the Treaty of Khitomer, the Empire was limited in military expenditures. Priority went to saving the homeworld from the fallout of Praxis. And the treaty limited new ship construction. So the L-24 class Battleship was dead.
This class builds on the D-10H concept. The I Utilizes the warp engines and impulse drive intended for the battleship, and like the new Excelsior refits, utilizes dual Impulse Drives. Fire power is increased with two additional torpedo tubes. In theory, the refit would be a match for the Romulan Nova, or Federation Excelsior.
In respect to the treaty, no cloaking device was installed, and no new hulls were built. Half the existing ships had been slated for mothballs, the empire opted to use those for refits, then mothball the remaining older models.
My favorite part of the Monday. And as my knowledge about FASA was never too big, every episode is priceless. Praise the Omnissiah for the gift of Knowledge!
🖖😎👍Very cool Klingon ship indeed the D-10 I myself have the Fasa one and 2 other model kits of this in 1000th scale and 1:2500 scale, as always guys you did a very great job indeed👌.
I really like the picture at 15:27, it looked really cool in that version
I completely agree that this design definitely needs some changes.
#1, the ventral side of the main hull needs to be concave, creating the downward arc of the nacelle pylons.
#2, the pylons themselves need to be moved forward to connect at that inward angle amidships, and the pylons should be swept forward.
#3 Add 1 or 2 service modules on the dorsal side of the main hull, at the stern. This is a key feature of all Klingon cruisers.
Just these three changes will make this design far better. The command section and neck are fine. Even the stern is fine being completely flat. But the over all design, as it sits now, is not very good.
Time for a trip up to the attic to dig out my FASA stuff!
Great episode, I'm really loving these FASA episodes as I was not real familiar with the FASA stuff, beyond a few models my older bro had.
When I look at that huge, bulky back, I think of two things. Stronger engines and a TON of added firepower. The exposed neck always seemed like a dare to me, Klingons daring people to shoot what looks like a weakness. I could see heavy disruptors, both fixed and turreted, on that extra bulky body, specifically meant to cut up any ship that tries to angle in and draw a bead on the neck. It almost looks like they'd have two power supplies, one for each side to power stronger engines and a wider array of more powerful guns.
The D-10 has always been one of my favorite Klingon ships. I also like the Gull, which of course was shown paired with the D-10 in a couple of your pics. Great Briefing, as usual, guys.
Off topic, I was looking through my Romulan book from LUG (Last Unicorn Games) and noticed that they had some neat looking non-canon Romulan ships which you guys might want to take a look at. If I remember, I'll Google to see if there are any images, and if there are, I'll post them on the FB Group Page.
Same here and I liked the K-9 Frigate too with the hexagonal bridge module.
L9 frigate is sweet too!
D10, "taking on the Constitution class" would mean for Klingons, having lots of warriors for boarding party. so space for soldiers makes sense! Has a Klingon spiritual "pillars" aesthetic to it, or Klingon jacket/shoulder pad warrior aesthetic, if that be purposeful to its design.
I am looking forward to the Gull Class being reviewed !
The D-10 is my favorite Klingon ship. In this version the placement of the shuttle bays preclude launching or retrieving small craft while the Impulse engines are active.
I'd love to see a format of battle reports of some kind of Fasa and battles stuff :)
Great show by the way
1530: that paint scheme makes me think of the Narn from Babylon 5
A nice vest on a Klingon ship, if I ever saw one --which I never have.
Actually those tips that he painted red are actually were the spinaly mounted heavy disruptors go
I think abit of a redesign of the command module with a second torpedo launcher and some added disruptor cannons. that would make it a one bad ass Klingon vessel
Wow, you guys are really close to 10000 subs! Congrats!
+Mortal MC Thanks! And getting closer and closer to 1.5 Million views!!
+power543 Wow! that's insane!
I know right....we only stared yesterday...well feels like it haha!
+power543 lol, keep up the great work!
Love this ship.
Just wondering if you two still do space ships from other areas and if so could you do a ship called The Pride Of Hiigara from the game Home World 2.
When I saw the Captain playing with the models I thought the D-10 looked more like a Carrier than a Cruiser, although that front profile took me by surprise because I wasn't expecting the secondary hull to be flat. So I don't know what I think of it, but at least it makes more sense than the D-11.
My Dad and i built one of these out of wood and took the plastic parts from the 1/1600 3 ship set from back in the 1980's.
Why wasn't the H model covered with the hexagon command Hull?
This is a beast of a ship, seems a bit under armed. I would have twin torpedo launchers recessed under each shoulder of the main hull.
The side view at 13 minutes looks similar to the Vo'quv from Star Trek Online
Early on, Capt. Foley says the D-10 looks a lot "meaner" than the D-7. I have heard other remarks that this ship looks meaner than this ship. Outside of the visibility of weaponry, what constitutes meanness or mean looking?
I ask because it seems to me that a ship's use would determine its meanness not its outward appearance. Analogously, many people look mean, so to speak, but are kind in behavior; while many look kind but behave mean.
It`s like the snubnose of starships.
This looks like the Klingon answer to the Excelsior. We see in Voyager that it took 3 D7 cruisers to do any serious damage to USS Excelsior. Clearly that wasn't going to cut it.
Excelsior? You mean K'Tingas then, not D7s.
If you're looking at fanon, may I suggest some of Jackill's work or the Whitefire E-D blueprints. Some really creative, well-executed designs and concepts there easily translatable and in some ways superior to canon.
this fasa stuff look like the late 80's LOTUS Freelance graphics. Etch-a-Sketch space ships.
If I we designing this I would have two forward Firing torpedo and a aft firing torpedo. Redesign the command bulbous section.
I think its a nice vessel. Could be a command ship type vessel. Heavy Assault Cruiser?
You are going for the ships with the big shoulder-pads first, I see.
7:50 The D7 is pretty much the same size as the Constitution-class if you remove the nacelles of the Starfleet vessel.
15:00 Whenever I hear the name for the class of the Gul I think of the Cardassians, any thoughts on if they are maybe related?
+Enterprise-H Gull, not Gul. The D-18 was nicknamed "Gull" by the Federation, because it sort of looks like a seagull . From the FASA Klingon Ship Recognition Manual; "The Klingons call the class Laraatan, which translates to 'protector of brothers'. The class is more commonly referred to as 'Gull' by Star Fleet personnel, an obvious reference to its appearance."
In short, no, there's no connection whatsoever. Bear in mind that FASA came out with these designs before there was a Next Gen, let alone a race known as the Cardassians.
Also, bear in mind, the in game Klingon names for these ships came from FASA and John M. Ford, not from Marc Okrand, so if one translates "Protector of Brothers" into Klingon, I rather doubt it would come out as "Laraatan." Again, FASA had almost nothing to work with from Paramount, so they had to wing it a lot of the time.
And there is a simple answer for Red Lights... Da red wunz go fasta!
The Klingons went to the custom garage one the planet GTA IV..........LOL.
It's a odd ship , but I'd like to see this ship in action , you know with some sort of kyles style war ,
It looks like a battle axe from the top view :)
At 16:10 it looks more like a Narn cruiser from B5.
I agree entirely, looks more naren than Klingon
are you going to do the Koro'tinga from STO?
16 min does look abit better, the warp engine needs to be slightly bigger
The multi-colored model looks like a Narn ship.
I like NARN , especially paneer NARN......LOL.
EVERY klingon ship is a troop transport :)
I personally like this ship but I think the back has to much bulk
16:20...A Black Fleet ship?!
Hello this is a question for Samuel I was just on your costume website and noticed you had lots of realistic firearms and was wondering how you got around Ukara is it because your a filmmaker or do you do air soft I'm just curious
Ps I am extremely envious of your SG1 outfit and was wondering where you got your stuff and how much it all cost you. it might be a nice topic for a commanders log in the future to find out any cool or interesting stories behind your outfits maybe how or why you got them or things that happened to you while wearing them
+ryan shankland That is certainly a long question! If you want you can re ask this on the last commanders Q&A and i can give a complete answer...thanks though! Im very proud of all my costumes!
+power543 yeah I assumed that the question would be a long one to answer and if you feel like you would like to answer on the next commanders Q&A that's probably the best answer I could have hoped for I will re ask this on the commanders Q&A
Many Klingon Ships carry Troops.
+meteosurreal And early ones only have Disruptors in FASA, plus this, the D-7, and some others have a Plasma-Torpedo Version, as well as a fore-and-aft Photon Torpedo Version.
from the front it looks like a a space whale, I think the whale probe was looking on the wrong planet
I think the bulbous command doesn't look right on it. Make it look like a flying brick
Are you going to make some Starfleet Battles episode?
Absolutely 100%
Hmm, another FASA ships with 'shoulder pads'... 😄
One photon torpedo that doesn't make that as powerful than connie
+Robert Flatters When it first came out, it was, because that would have been in the 2250s. And the refits were upgraded with more photorp launchers and more powerful disruptors.
A ship of this size could do with a weapon pod joining the two aft section maybe with torpedo turrets giving 180* degree firing arch each
I do like this design but it looks very boring from the back needs more detail.
That front view doesn't even make sense with the rest.
not a very good design
When you review FASA ships. You spend more time laughing at the way they look. Then very little time evaluating their opperational characteristics.
Like all role-playing games, gamers are more interested in what it can DO! So much less interested in what they look like. So all your mockery is doing, is annoying gamers whom used these ships in play.
Just a suggestion, pull your heads out of your Hollywood collective, and eat the gah!
