  • Another FASA design - the L6 Defender Class was the most feared Klingon frigate during the Four Years War, and could challenge even Loknar class frigates!
    Thank you all for your support - slowly but surely building a patreon following at / resurrected

      1 year ago I have built this awesome, fast, maneuverable, and deadly looking Klingon L-6 "Defender" class Frigate out of LEGO bricks at home. It took me at least several days to build, and the wings were the hardest part of the Klingon ship. I still have it.

    I love this. The Uniform FASA Klingon Imperial Fleet is far more effective (and numerous) than the loose alliance of houses with individual ship designs (STD Mycelial).

      In one of the FASA backstory as in the last image in the video . one Klingon ship took on 3 Starfleet destroyed one starship and damaged the other two. Not bad.

    Nice animations as always. Nice to see it in TOS colours, so to speak! :)
    One little nitpick, compared to your live stream building this design and the updated FASA schematic you used, the nacelle struts come right to the front of the nacelles. It throws the balance of the design off a tiny bit, almost as if the nacelle are about to fall off!
    Great work though! :)

    One thing to mention. According to FASA Starfleet had serious trouble with Klingon aft mounted weapons in the beginning. Starfleet tactical doctrine recommended to power up the three forward shield sections and keep your front to the enemy. By pouring energy into movement Klingons sped by a Starfleet vessel and opened fire with their aft mounted weapons into the unprotected read sections of the Starfleet ships.
    Many early Starfleet ships even had no aft mounted weapons at all.

    Resurrected Starships
    66.6K subscribers I absolutely LOVE this Klingon warship! During the weekend I got finished building a brand new LEGO MOC build this time of the Klingon L-6 Defender, since I was getting tired of constantly building Klingon D7/K'T'inga class Battle Cruisers, simply just, because.... I just wanted to build something new and unfamiliar for my parents who were very pleased with the menacing profile look of this very little known Klingon Warship. Plus even they aren't really familiar with FASA.

    Talk about timing, I was just checking out FASA Klingon ship designs the other day. The L6 is definitely one of my favorites; it combines some of the best visual attributes of the D7 and Klingon Bird-of-Prey to make a decidedly "lean and mean" looking ship.

    Whats funny is that frigates dont have a specified size in real life (Lots of countries use destroyer and cruiser sized "Frigates") so it being about the size of a cruiser is not actually a design flaw but could be on purpose.

    Out of curiosity, do any of these ships have shields? I seems like only a few shots and then they fly apart. Were shields part of the FASA universe?

    • @starsiegeplayer
      @starsiegeplayer 5 лет назад +3

      Yes they had shields. Klingon shields were generally weaker.

    • @richardched6085
      @richardched6085 5 лет назад

      Think of Shields as another layer of armor that can regenerate. Directed Energy Weapons like Phaser Banks or Disruptor Cannons can partially bleed through Shields and strike Hull Plating.

    I’m running a Star Trek Adventures RPG campaign , set during the Original Series era. I’m looking at the FASA stuff to give me some ideas for ships of that era, besides the Constitution, the D7 and the Romulan Bird of Prey. I find I’m really enjoying the FASA lore as well, and may use parts for my campaign.

    The reason why starfleet most likely didn’t encounter these often is because being what the class is the IKDF probably kept them close to home for defence only

    I find it odd to classify a ship comparable to a D7 in size and firepower as a frigate. Frigate designation is usually reserved for the smallest ocean faring vessels, usually with very small range. This looks more like a light cruiser or a heavy destroyer.

    • @resurrectedstarships
      @resurrectedstarships  5 лет назад

      Depends on how far you go back, in the age of sail a frigate could be any ship of the line that is a step down from a battleship, and a cruiser was anything that scouted over long distances. Then as WW1 kicks off we get the classifications we know of today. FASA used the frigate as pretty much a light cruiser but meant for combat.

    • @ilejovcevski79
      @ilejovcevski79 5 лет назад

      @@resurrectedstarships that's interesting. Later Starfleet Command games (were those based on FASA?), followed the more modern classification.

    • @lynngreen7978
      @lynngreen7978 5 лет назад

      As RS said. FASA oddly considered Destroyer to be just bigger than a Scout, and Frigate to be comparable to a Light-Medium Cruiser. But for their own Battletech universe, they went with modern standards and the Destroyer is the heavier class.

      Sadly FASA ignored it, and had two versions of the D-4. I consider the D-4A to be Ford's D-4, and the D-4E to be the D-6.

    The one thing that's bugged me about Klingon and Romulan ships is that they have windows. That seems like an unnecessary luxury that Humans would indulge in. Not the tactical and practical Klingons and Romulans. But more ship design variants is a good thing either way.

  • @Rexerman89

    The L-6 Defender def. needs a torpedo!

  • @sagesheahan6732
    @sagesheahan6732 4 года назад

    I actually kind of like how it is in the shows how Klingons already have photon torpedoes and Starfleet is having to play catch up. It makes sense. The Klingon empire is a far older interstellar civilization. They would probably have the tech, among other kinds of technology that Starfleet just does not have at first. The developers could have used a different name for the photonic torpedo, though. Naming the mid-step between spatial and photon that is extremely confusing. And frankly not very creative.
    the FAFSA version of history is an interesting take though. In my head Canon though, it makes sense that the Klingons had photons long before Starfleet did.
    hell considering this and the TV show Canon I might even take that one step further. the Starfleet photon torpedo is an amalgamation of human, Andorian, Vulcan, Klingon and other technologies either study or observed to create the base Starfleet photon torpedo?
