One of my favorite features of the Pocket 3 so far is how discreet it is. I love being able to whip out a gimbal stabilized camera in places I wouldn’t have felt comfortable bringing my gimbal mounted aps-c camera. I’ve been taking motionalpses in restaurants, for example. @@noodlessoul8356 Yeah this sounds correct as I believe the bokeh on the Pocket 3 is a result of the F2 aperture lens and not a software effect like the iPhone's bokeh.
For the CPL to work you have to turn the lens until the reflection is gone in the monitor/screen, you also want your light source (in most cases the big yellow orb of death) to be 90 degrees from the lens.
Bud, your mission is over i'am afraid.. Perfect vlogging camera is upon us. I do use pocket 3 for the past few days (ordered few minutes after launch ;) ) and i love it ! It become my main camera now.
I bought the Pocket 3 and was somewhat underwhelmed. Yes, it does what it says on the box but honestly, it's not all it's cracked up to be when it comes to video quality. Color science is "weird", low-light performance is ho-hum and even with EV at -3 it still tends to clip the highlights on high-contrast scenes in HDR and DLog formats. "Beauty features" are all well and good but I'd rather just have a good solid camera with more dynamic range and better color science.
I have to say I much prefer the monopod extended out look of this action cam vlog than the usual close up view. This is where action cams shine, imo. The extremely small size and light weight that allows for interesting shots you couldn't get otherwise.
I don't recommend randomly buying new gear but the Pocket 3 is a different matter. It would save you time and aggravation while delivering better vlogging footage than you currently have. Experimenting is fun too but sometimes it's a little painful watching the struggle with manual lenses or fixed focus lenses that are rarely in focus. I think the Pocket 3 would allow you to do all your basic footage and then you can just cut away to whatever gear you're demonstrating. Also, i don't like mist filters because they negate the optics of the lens but this Freewell filter looks good on the action cam; it takes the digital edge off.
@@ACOB I am certain he would find faults with the Pocket 3. For me, it would be nice to see less of these manual lenses that are never in focus and the action cams that focus on the background. It's a bit painful to watch at times.

The rubber ring DIY trick just illustrates how easily equipment can be modified for individual use/needs. Anyone who's been into photography or video production long enough does this. Mist filters can easily be made out of UV filters or neutral filters with a can of hairspray and the right technique. Spray into air and sweep filter through mist; repeat as needed for softer effect. That's how you get a mist filter produced for a camera system that doesn't have filters in 5-10 minutes. Ring adapters for lenses/cameras without threads can be 3D printed (measure dimensions, model in software, print), or just find the appropriately sized silicone or rubber band that provides the right thickness to friction fit a filter. Or use an adhesive glue to fix small neodymium magnets to the custom mounting ring and filter. This is the type of thing a crafty individual can make in an afternoon when overnight shipping isn't an option.
There is something about my pocket 3 where it has a really nice exposure I cannot get with my gopro.. Like the camera is smart enough to know when it is dark that it is OK to have some black areas and then indoors it seems to slightly overexpose but in a good way without grain. It handles harsh lightining indoors and at night very well.
You ought to do a vlog of the nice old homes in Toronto. The home you passed (where you encountered the older gentleman) with the well sculpted lawn, changing trees and such, was intriguing.
The pocket 3 super slomo is a bit smudgey, however, you don't need fast shutters to make the stabe work, because gimbal. Also, I love how freewell questioned the use of the fried chicken grease filters on an action cam. I was debating the R8 and Z30, I bought the R8, but I think I have regrets. That's why I'm debating it, possibly selling my ZV-E10, lenses, and Crane M3 gimbal. But, I'm kindof waiting for the Camera Conspiracy review. 😃
This fills a use case perfectly. Now we just need a purpose built all-in-one wildlife camera. A new RX10 revision that abandons wide angles and just starts at 200mm.
Just finished cracking open my Pocket 3… incredible piece of equipment. Someone made the statement about GlimmerGlass 1 for the Pocket 3 (I’m all in). I have GlimmerGlass 1 on all of my 4 LUMIX S5 II for Events and I live by them. Freewell / Polar Pro - somebody needs to catch up with GlimmerGlass.
Yeah, some shipments to Canada are sent to San Bernadino where they languish, forgotten for some reason. I've had things take 6 weeks to get from Portland to Victoria.
I hit that LIKE button with delight, I really respect the fact you already published 2 good videos about DJI Pocket 3, without having the camera 😅 I know they didn't send it to you, some old geezer did a video comparing it to some full frame Sony pocket sized camera, he didn't even know how to use DJI Pocket! 😂 Well that's life. Waiting for the moment when you actually get it and then to watch your reviews. I bought Pocket 2 after watching your videos and realizing even though your were putting it down, that it out-filmed everything that you put against it! 😄Cheers!
The Pocket is another sharp tool in the arsenal for me. It is actually fun to use unlike my phone to film myself with. It’s just as fast and convenient as a phone or action camera to get a quick, stabilized shot of something. It’s features work cohesively together to get out of your way. The image is excellent and when graded well rivals mid-tier MFT cameras. There are whole YT channels that filmed years of content with the Pocket 2. Now the pocket 3 definitely looks better than a phone. It’s great!
I have the Pocket 3 and the stabilization on such a small gimbal can only do so much. And like all electronic gimbals, you frequently have to reshoot stuff just because of the gimbal having a mind of its own. It’s for sure better (more convenient) for some use cases but I personally don’t see it killing off other camera form factors.
I ordered my dji osmo pocket 3 creator combo and picked it up yesterday. Already started playing around with it. Isn’t amazing but definitely made vlogging so much easier. I’ll be getting rid of my Fujifilm x-e4. Still keeping my Sony fx3.
I used to have pocket 1 and 2,sold them both after 6 months after their release…have to say it’s a game changer for ppl who know nothing about camera stuff especially at night…but since it’s so light results the Z axel up and down problem and lack of waterproof is really a pain in the ass…I’ll stick to my old SONY RX0 ii and X3000 tho…thanks for trying every shxt for us..xd
I have a Pocket 2 (the third one), it's my camera for special tasks (evening walks when it's not raining), and I didn't sell it (again) just because it's small. I loved my X3000 - I've had several... But the lack of water resistance and a few other minor inconveniences such as the lack of new cameras and problems with glue - sharpness put off a bit. I'm currently mostly using Action 4 and my P40 pro... but I'm missing ...... X4000 :)... Seriously... if someone got used to the X3000 then there is nothing like that 100% swap on the market today.
You're right, Micro 4/3 is close to a 1 Inch sensor. It's in the name actually, it's 4/3 of an inch. It's a 1.33 inch sensor. Also you have the nerdiest and most polite comment section on the internet. Its both sweetly endearing and weird.
The pocket 3 is the newest shiny thing, but I don’t have a need for it. I have trouble digesting the perfect camera concept mostly because each person has different needs for a camera. I get what you’re doing because you are comparing gear to determine the perfect camera for you. Markus takes some older gear with a few techniques and gets very good results. I don’t vlog but from the outside looking in, it seems like the action cameras are a better solution for a pocket size camera?
Current action cameras are a great solution for a pocket camera, but not so much in lower lighting. That's where the gimbal and larger sensor begin to show the advantage. And the Pocket 3 is still a pocketable size for most people. Both have different advantages for different uses. Nobody is going to be scuba diving with the Pocket 3, and it's not intended for that market.
I bought the Pocket 3 Creator Combo on a whim and I am absolutely STUNNED at the footage coming out of this thing. As a bonus, it's tiny and totally inconspicuous. I will never go back, and I am selling quite a bit of gear because of it. I almost bought the Action 4 a few times, but I'm glad I didn't after watching some comparisons between the Pocket 3 and the Action 4. The Pocket 3 footage, for whatever reason, is WAY better than the Action 4. You've got to try one, it'll blow you away!
Talking nonsense here, action cam is for different purposes so you can do underwater shots, even when its raining 🌧 would you take pocket 3 in water? And image is very similar if not the same
@@arturaszaleskis8907 I agree they're for different purposes. I addressed the comparison because it was discussed in this video and the comparison video I watched, and the difference was stunning considering the specs are not that different on paper. I'm not suggesting Kasey get rid of his Action 4 for those purposes, I was suggesting he might also enjoy a Pocket 3 for its intended purposes.
Try a linear polarizer. Circular polarizers were made specifically to work with the partially silvered mirrors and beam splitters in motion picture cameras and SLRs. The quarter wave plate on CPLs does not have any advantages when used on mirrorless systems. A circular polarizer is like a crippled linear polarizer ; )
You NEED to get your hands on the pocket 3. More than “it would be nice”, but you HAVE to get one so I’ll know if I need to get one as much as I need you to tell me if I need it as much as I think I do.
iPhone 15 Pro Max is not the only Smartphone camera that can do log that takes away sharpeness and saturation. The Honor Magic 5 Pro has the same as well. They did it even before the iPhone had it (Magic 3 series) Then there is Oppo Find X6 Pro & Xiaomi that also offer Log in their newest smartphones. And then there are Xperia smartphones that have a soft camera like look from the start. The Pocket 3 btw. looks also by default very processed and smartphone like with oversaturation and sharpness turned to 100.
Somehow I want to quote John Candy in the classic film Stripes (1981) Pvt. Cruz: Maybe I should fold? Pvt. Ox: Well... let me see, first. No, not with a hand like that. C'mon, dare me. Bluff me. C'mon. Pvt Cruz: How much do I bet? Pvt. Ox: Well, if it were me? I'd bet everything, but that's me. I'm an aggressive gambler. Mr. Vegas. C'mon go for it. :) Just get the darn camera. Life is too short! Thanks for the honest commentary and video #cameraconspiracies
Photographers are simply God-level videographers who have mastered the infinite frame rate. Let that sink in for a moment. Black mist looks good I’d buy one.
Great video, fun to watch, great that you got your own filter. Love the look 😂 Maybe I will also release one for my Hero 10 I still use on my videography channel 😮 Keep on going, love your vids! Keep blooming 😅
I'd buy one if they make a 1/8 just to soften a bit, but I'm pretty happy with the look out of the Action 4 to be honest. It is a great, little, no frills, take everywhere camera.
Enjoying the Pocket 3 so far, but I’m afraid I’m going to break it. If DJI would put the P3 camera in an X3000 shaped body, with a flip out camcorder style screen, and hot swappable battery on the back, IP65 but not totally waterproof, that might be the ticket!
Just like you, I'm waiting to see if the Z30 goes on sale. I think with its autofocus, it could be a great indoor camera AND vlog camera. I am so tempted by the Pocket 3 but I realistically don't need it. I still have my Lumix S5 and GX85. The GX85 makes a really nice vlog cam when I use the wifi on my phone... Which is great, because my sister knocked over my tripod and the rear screen has a big crack going through it
Looking forward to your optimum buying strategy for the Pocket 3 because yeah the creator pack may be not ideal. The new Rode Pro remote mic kit looks a good thing if it matches seamless with DJI.
Those filters are a waste of money if you ask me. It looks pretty much the same with or without the filters. But if you think it looks better, that’s all that matters. The Osmo Pocket 3 looks like the way to go. I just wish it had a mic jack, a tripod socket, and a battery door to change out the battery, but then it would be perfect, and we all know they can’t make a perfect camera.
Agree on the filters, I just commented saying the same before seeing your comment. I think they degrade the footage. The pocket 3 - I also wish I didnt NEED the useless hollow handle or the battery handle to use a tripod.. but the battery thing isnt a big deal because the battery handle attachment fast charges the main battery and then you can detach it and charge it with a USB battery. The battery life has been soo good though... seems like itll last a day betwen the main battery and handle.
@@mainelyhobbies yeah but if they would have but a battery door to change out your own battery, you wouldn’t need all those add ons. I’ll still probably end up getting one though.
@@cameraconspiracies Setting the sharpness to -1 or -2 on the pocket 3 does look better. I've been watching your videos for 3 or more years now and of all the new cameras, the pocket 3 seems closest to that perfect camera for vlogging that you describe. It's too bad DJI dropped the ball on sending you one because I bet it would replace the action 4 and gopro vlogs you do.
Have to agree with you, I was going to upgrade my iPhone until I got my hands on the Pocket 3. 🤷🏼♀️ How do you like them apples? And PS, where’s your snow?
Have action 4 and s23 ultra, feature I miss in action 4 that Samsung has had for a while is zoom hyperlapse, action 4 is very wide for filming my art even though my art is very large lol, have to have the camera up in my business or crop in post. The Samsung has just the right amount of zoom with the multiple lenses, but I wanted a dedicated camera for filming and not be tying up my phone mounted on a tripod all day.
Got the Z30 a month or so back. Love the ergonomics, hate the lack of stability. Power zoom lens is cool but you have to set it to f5.6 to keep the aperture constant throughout the range. Needless to say I got frustrated by it and opted to order the DJI pocket-just-press-record. The Z30 with the 24mm 1.7 lens will henceforth be my little Ricoh griii. Or Leica Q. Who needs a viewfinder? Not this guy.
Just buy the Pocket 3 Combo already!! Had mine a few days now and I do think you'll love it as they're pretty much nailed everything you generally complain about. Obviously not waterproof but it's such a massive upgrade over the Pocket 2 I had. I use an Action 4 and (used to) use a ZV-E10 and 11mm F1.8 - but the Pocket 3 does it all now. I think you'd appreciate the DJI Mic 2 in the combo as it has 32 bit float and acts as a remote for the Pocket 3 too.

I gotta say I am a fan of tiny cams that can go in my pocket. One that can actually do nice video without weird limits is amazing.
Just get the Pocket 3, man. It's awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing your Pocket 3 video!
It’s great!
Mexican sushi (15:30).... hmmm never had it. We need a review asap.
I have the Pocket 3 and the stabilization on such a small gimbal can only do so much. And like all electronic gimbals, you frequently have to reshoot stuff just because of the gimbal having a mind of its own. It’s for sure better (more convenient) for some use cases but I personally don’t see it killing off other camera form factors.
that glimmer filter made it so good
I ordered my dji osmo pocket 3 creator combo and picked it up yesterday. Already started playing around with it. Isn’t amazing but definitely made vlogging so much easier. I’ll be getting rid of my Fujifilm x-e4. Still keeping my Sony fx3.
I have the Freewell filters for my Action 4, and if they sell closeups +1, +2, I will buy them. And if they sell a mist filter, I'll buy that, too.
Yeah the Freewell filter is awesome! They need to make it!!
Z30 quite nice actually! Can make a great travel kit, but OA4 much better for vlogging!
Love the mist filter. Take my money! I will buy it when it's available.
The cinema is ours friends, they need to make this for everyone.
I just sold my R6 to get a Pocket 3 to use with my C70. Hopefully, it wasn't a mistake.
Is it possible to make nice bokeh with it in studio? Or better buy Sony zv-e10?
@Freewell should definitely make the filters!!
Idk if it was because of different lighting but the freewell mist filter looked really nice on the Action 4 imo. I prefered it over the glimmer.
I like your videos buddy you got the best dialogue side of Texas. It’s hip and cool thanks for having a great channel.
Count me in for the Freewell Acton 4 ND & CPL filters!!
Freewell, please please release a wide angle lens compatible with ND filters like you did with the pocket 2. I’m an instant buyer
Markus Pix entered the chat…
I wonder what Markus Pix thoughts are on the pocket 3? He’s not wrong lol😂
He made 2 videos already featuring the DJI Pocket 3. One featured Action 4
@@MarkoAssi_pokervlogger Yes I’ve seen them… it was rhetorical or sarcasm depending on attitude. Lol
This Action 4 with the filters is really good. Good enough for most of us here!
Somehow I want to quote John Candy in the classic film Stripes (1981)
Pvt.
:)
Just get the darn camera.
I will buy the black mist filter for my GoPro 11 if they start making them
black mist looks heaps good and the glimmer glass was better great job !
Which is great, because my sister knocked over my tripod and the rear screen has a big crack going through it
You need to rotate the polarizer until you get the effect you want. Really good for faces to take the shine off.
Looking forward to your optimum buying strategy for the Pocket 3 because yeah the creator pack may be not ideal. The new Rode Pro remote mic kit looks a good thing if it matches seamless with DJI.
I understand only a small fraction of your techno gobbledygook but I love to hear you talk. It's techno-poetry to my ears :) (and how creepy is that!)
Also thinking about the Picket 3 but gonna wait for your review first!
4:03 actually the lg v30 in 2017 had an unsharpened log format, supposedly 10bit too. it definately helps to get rid of the smartphone look.
man, with that glimmer glass thing, it almost looks like a sony! guess pocket 3 is the way to go. I'm saving my arse to get one!
If I had a dji pocket I would get the black mist filter for it.
I have had the Pocket 3 for 2 weeks, used on a pro project, no complaints, Sell all your toys and distractions and get an Osmo 3!
I really Love the black pro mist filter 😍🙏
We'll wait for DJI Pocket Full Frame
43.8 x 32.9mm sensor dji pocket or bust
I like the Freewell filter.
I still think the Action 4 footage is more pleasing than the Pocket 3.
Same. And also seems like the bokeh effect on the OP3 cannot be disabled?
@@noodlessoul8356 It's not effect, it is true bokeh because of the f2 aperture and 1 inch sensor.
@@Panotaker it is my only complaint so far on my pocket 3... soooooo many bits and pieces to lose and they made the carry case too small.
They give the image class, some people just see that it's less sharp and they panic lol.
That guy around 1:05 was looking at you like you are crazy
I dont care about this comparison + i've already got the pocket 3 (incredible btw), but i just enjoy watching your opinion content :)
Yes buy it
Someone buy this man a Pocket 3
10:13 the guy on the bike almost killed himself just to be in your vlog :)
Where to get that tripod
Great review !!
That slow mo looks great lol
Get that Pocket 3 already 😅 I wanne see you review it! I already own 2 cant wait to have fun with it. I need those nd filters man
Just buy the Pocket 3 Combo already!!
Markus sees the dilemma of chasing the fun bus.
