As a lot of people are asking, here are the settings I used in this video: 4K25, auto exposure, -0.7 EV, Normal colour, 5500K WB, auto low light image enhancement enabled, -2 Sharpness, -1 NR, RockSteady, Standard FOV. I added no colour grading.

Always love your local backdrops for your videos, and the train ride and visit was first rate! Also really like the way you use the DJI Osmo Action 4 while on these excursions. Your results are always superb and I'm betting you seldom have to throw away any low quality footage. Thanks for the tips- I've found them to be true with my A4 also.

You should do a video of how you would set it up in an indoor youtube vlog setting!!! I was planning on using it for that in a pinch until I purchase a Sony ZVE10. Baby steps, haha!
Thanks for this video! I travel several times a year and was debating between this or the Pocket 3 for a small and discreet setup on the go. I love my Sony ZV-E10 for video when I’m sitting down for long periods of time or when I’m taking photos, but I also wanted something to complement that. The durability, weatherproofing and seeing you go out and about with the Action 4 sold it for me. :)
A lot of options came out since it's release but the Action 4 seemed to have emerged as an MVP. Compact, relatively cheaper than the competition, reliable and amazing video quality.
I've taken my Action4 to Iceland, including into the lagoons, into 8 hour hikes in the dolomites, surfing, skiing, you name it and I never felt like I needed more than the single battery. Plugging into a tiny USB-C charger, 10 minutes later you're back at or almost at 80%. I may get 1 spare battery and wrap it in cellophane to have next time for tough mudder :) - not sure quite who the 3 battery case is for!
Just one suggestion. When you record the video then please mention the frame rate and resolution and settings you are using for your video on screen. That will be really helpful to get footage like you. Love from India ❤️

Travel, general use and moto vlogging, brilliant camera especially paired with mic 2. I always have it with me and love it to record motorcycle trips, especially as I can adjust the gain settings for the mic in camera without using the full transmitter set up, I just bought the stand alone mic as I have the original mic kit which still works great with its separate transmitter mounted on my ‘old’ Action 3.
I have both the pocket 3 and action 3. I end up using the action more often even though I need an external mic on it because I find it much easier to film with. Waiting to upgrade it to the 5 and sell my pocket 3. Great video as always and hope it helps DJI rid some of the last stock of 4rs 😉
Great video! I have this and the Osmo Pocket 3 - I think when used in tandem they are great for vlogging. When there’s plenty of light - the Osmo Action 4 blows me away versus other action cams.
Loved this and will take a look at your other related vids. I have the original Osmo Action and love the simplicity and quality (in decent light). Also liked your bits about audio. Such a well produced video and you’re so natural with camera conversations. Wondering about that FCPX voice isolation effect - need to look into that. Any colour grading at-all? A low light mode for DJI Osmo Action 4 would be welcome, as it is with DJI Osmo Pocket 3. Action 4 does quite poorly in low light, at night with street lights. Pocket 3 films unexpectedly well in low light, but it has the disadvantage of being very fragile.
I had my Dji Osmo Action 4 and my Dji Mic 2 for 6 months and after the latest firmware update I had big issues with the video recording freezing and the Audio suddenly stops after a couple of seconds when recording with the Dji Mic 2. When I just bought it and made many videos in Thailand I had no problems and reallly enjoy the setup, now I having problems relying on it. Hoping Dji finds out in my logs what is the problem! Cos when it works I very much enjoy what comes out of the Dji and Mic 2. I like your videos, keep it up😊

I agree on your points. I bought one some 3 mos ago and love it. A couple bad points IMO. Splitting large files, I shoot in 4K, and it splits the files at about 25 minutes, my shooting practices often just turn on the camera and let it run, I just find this annoying, and unnecessary. Second point, after my own findings, and some extensive forum searching, I agree D Log M sucks. No meta data is recorded to the file, either fumble around grading it yourself, or use a LUT to convert it to REC709......not everybody wants to output everything in REC709 :(
I have 2 main cameras and I dont use them much at the moment just because I have gone camera shy a bit but plan to get over it and get back to it (lol) But I have Sony ZV E10 (MK1) and the canon 200D. I like the idea of the car window mount as I could make use of my drives to and from work to vlog my thoughts. The Action 4 seems ok. Is the DJ Osmo Action 4 better than the Insta360 Ace Pro Action Camera?

Thanks! I edit in Final Cut Pro. If I’m editing on my phone to upload to Instagram, I use CapCut. But for quick family videos, I use DJI Mimo or LightCut.

I've got a question though.. when you say you had to stop recording and resume while inside the train (or vice versa) for the Low Light Enhancement to work, do you mean you stop the video and start a new one? or is there an option to pause and hit 'record' again to continue on the same video file including the low light enhancement?
I once regulary film the entire day rideing my motorcycle using a Sony FDR X3000 connected to an external power bank and only had to change the sd card after 5.5 hours... and you're telling me you need 3 batteries for an entire day o shooting??? Maybe for filming intermitently for no longer then 5-10 min per session... but not all of us use the camera that way! I understand that a majority of users only film for 5 to 10 min or even less, but... Don't want to miss a gorgeous land scape or event just because I had the camera off, so I just shoot the entire trip... even the breaks for gas and/or eating.
Literally ordered earlier today the exact set up you have there, including the DJI 2 TX mic. I did get the Hero 12 but I sent it back as it just fell short of what I was expecting. I decided to get it now as I've read that the action 5 isn't going to be a massive upgrade apparently and the price is nice right now. I have the Hohem iSteady pro 4 which I'll break out on special occasions. Thanks for the video, it's made me confident I've made the right choices.
@@user-zc7bf7rn7v I really wanted to like it but it wasn't very good in low light and had tearing in the video due to the stabilization. I got the creator bundle and found that the mic picked up far to much ambient sound with no option to adjust the gain. So I got the DJI Mic 2 but for some reason GoPro wouldn't allow it to connect via Bluetooth. By this time I had enough and sent I back. Add to that the front screen wasn't a touch screen whereas the Action 4 is. I also prefer the general colour and look to the DJI that I've seen here on YT. There's possibly more but that's all I can think of for the moment, I'm sure the DJI isn't perfect but from what I've seen since buying the GoPro, the Action 4 is a better choice.
@@user-zc7bf7rn7v DJI don't sell the receiver separately so you would have to buy the full mic system rather than just the Transmitter. You also have to use the Media mod for the receiver so it starts getting expensive. Also I can't use the Hohem Gimbal with the Media Mod attached. Honestly, I just wanted a simpler system that works and the DJI works best for me at an overall lower cost.
Thanks for the video, for a few months I have been wondering which small camera to choose for recording motorcycle riding and POV from photo walks, at first moment I wanted to buy insta action camera but it doesn't offer much more and has a problem of focus for objects closer, on August 28 is supposed to come out DJI action 5 for now I am waiting at most I will buy Action 4

Does anyone know the best settings for capturing the Northern lights? I know how to do it on other cameras and each device needs a slightly different set up for aurora, but I'm new to the action 4 and I'd like to get the best possible footage. Thanks!
Thank you for such an informative video. I’m looking to vlog (mostly to journal) and I originally felt the insta360 was more suited as I wanted something to use on the go. But I know taking files off of it can be an issue. The other option was the Pocket 3. But this video helps. So thank you. The only issues I have is the wider shot and the fact that the outer edges get somewhat warped.Any advice on that? Another thing is how long doesn’t it take and how easy is it to transfer videos out ?Also if I just hold it at arms length without a gimbal or anything how will that be in terms of video quality? Splitting large files, I shoot in 4K, and it splits the files at about 25 minutes, my shooting practices often just turn on the camera and let it run, I just find this annoying, and unnecessary. Second point, after my own findings, and some extensive forum searching, I agree D Log M sucks. No meta data is recorded to the file, either fumble around grading it yourself, or use a LUT to convert it to REC709......not everybody wants to output everything in REC709 :(
I have 2 main cameras and I dont use them much at the moment just because I have gone camera shy a bit but plan to get over it and get back to it (lol) But I have Sony ZV E10 (MK1) and the canon 200D. I like the idea of the car window mount as I could make use of my drives to and from work to vlog my thoughts. The Action 4 seems ok. Is the DJ Osmo Action 4 better than the Insta360 Ace Pro Action Camera?

Thanks! I edit in Final Cut Pro. If I’m editing on my phone to upload to Instagram, I use CapCut. But for quick family videos, I use DJI Mimo or LightCut.

I've got a question though.. when you say you had to stop recording and resume while inside the train (or vice versa) for the Low Light Enhancement to work, do you mean you stop the video and start a new one? or is there an option to pause and hit 'record' again to continue on the same video file including the low light enhancement?

I once regulary film the entire day rideing my motorcycle using a Sony FDR X3000 connected to an external power bank and only had to change the sd card after 5.5 hours... and you're telling me you need 3 batteries for an entire day o shooting???
Maybe for filming intermitently for no longer then 5-10 min per session... but not all of us use the camera that way!
I understand that a majority of users only film for 5 to 10 min or even less, but...
Don't want to miss a gorgeous land scape or event just because I had the camera off, so I just shoot the entire trip... even the breaks for gas and/or eating.

Literally ordered earlier today the exact set up you have there, including the DJI 2 TX mic. I did get the Hero 12 but I sent it back as it just fell short of what I was expecting. I decided to get it now as I've read that the action 5 isn't going to be a massive upgrade apparently and the price is nice right now. I have the Hohem iSteady pro 4 which I'll break out on special occasions. Thanks for the video, it's made me confident I've made the right choices.

@@user-zc7bf7rn7v I really wanted to like it but it wasn't very good in low light and had tearing in the video due to the stabilization. I got the creator bundle and found that the mic picked up far to much ambient sound with no option to adjust the gain. So I got the DJI Mic 2 but for some reason GoPro wouldn't allow it to connect via Bluetooth. By this time I had enough and sent I back. Add to that the front screen wasn't a touch screen whereas the Action 4 is. I also prefer the general colour and look to the DJI that I've seen here on YT. There's possibly more but that's all I can think of for the moment, I'm sure the DJI isn't perfect but from what I've seen since buying the GoPro, the Action 4 is a better choice.

@@user-zc7bf7rn7v DJI don't sell the receiver separately so you would have to buy the full mic system rather than just the Transmitter. You also have to use the Media mod for the receiver so it starts getting expensive. Also I can't use the Hohem Gimbal with the Media Mod attached. Honestly, I just wanted a simpler system that works and the DJI works best for me at an overall lower cost.

Thanks for the video, for a few months I have been wondering which small camera to choose for recording motorcycle riding and POV from photo walks, at first moment I wanted to buy insta action camera but it doesn't offer much more and has a problem of focus for objects closer, on August 28 is supposed to come out DJI action 5 for now I am waiting at most I will buy Action 4

Does anyone know the best settings for capturing the Northern lights? I know how to do it on other cameras and each device needs a slightly different set up for aurora, but I'm new to the action 4 and I'd like to get the best possible footage. Thanks!
Thank you for such an informative video. I’m looking to vlog (mostly to journal) and I originally felt the insta360 was more suited as I wanted something to use on the go. But I know taking files off of it can be an issue. The other option was the Pocket 3. But this video helps. So thank you. The only issues I have is the wider shot and the fact that the outer edges get somewhat warped.Any advice on that? Another thing is how long doesn’t it take and how easy is it to transfer videos out ?Also if I just hold it at arms length without a gimbal or anything how will that be in terms of video quality?
