Panda normally when your wife says "You have too much stuff and you have taken over too much of the house you should build a shed" That would normally mean your going to be living in that shed ! 😝
Normally the lack of permit for sheds also requires no permanent foundation , 100-120sq ft max, Temp Power , height restrictions ,and not attached to house for fire codes . you can do 220 temp power but assuming your amount of amps you use that might be out of temp power specs for your area. I would just pull a permit and go for more of a real addition not attached but with in 6 feet of existing garage with no min sq foot requirements etc ....after finished/inspection build temp airlock to attach to garage and run your sub or 220 lines
I would also type X drywall walls and ceiling of shed for insurance coverage / safety seeing you have a family , much invested and that way it will meet code/coverage when attached in future.
I built a 120 sq 19 foot tall shed few years ago, they changed the height restriction codes for our area after seeing it because they knew I would add a second floor which I did. just my 2 cents being a 35+ year GC with background in Electrical as well Real Estate Law , you have many options ...I'd honestly come build the whole thing for you for free minus mats for your generosity to the community if you wish . In the process of moving a gpu setup 3 states away for .04 reduction in kwh and more amps , after that I have more free time. P.

My 10x12 tuff shed was $5k. My city required a permit for any shed, but we could do a wood shed up to 150 sq feet. Any larger and it had to match the house. Also they didn’t allow plastic Rubbermaid sheds

That work bench and cabinet setup is sick!
From one ADHD miner to another. Make a list. Detailed all the little steps.
    1. Make a list. When your finish you already mark one off.
Each little thing accomplished checks another step and it helps keep you motivated while the detailed list helps break it into bite size pieces that dont feel overwhelming.
After that then you can see if the shed is still necessary.

Use the shed for garden tools, keep the basement clean for crypto stuff. Also less expensive than running another sub-panel

  • @GeekOfAllTrades

oh man, i really like those cabinets in the basement garage area. they look really good man.
10x10 isn't gonna be big enough, you are gonna wish it was bigger, for sure.
the RPM sticker adds like 20TH more on the S21!!
If you are limited on size of the shed, can you make it double decker high and add a basement too? even if its just for stuff and not mining, you're gonna out grow it for sure. I would just use it for "stuff" maybe even a lean-to on the side of the garage for outside stuff and tools.
Keep the mining in the house, not worth putting it outside if you can avoid it.
or...hear me out....get a windowless box van to put your stuff in it. then you can just drive it around the block and park it a little different than where you started, nobody's gonna know...
whoa, wait...Emporia Gen 3? thats it! I am literally right now returning the Gen 2 I just bought for the new house, because I forgot the other one i had at the last house. and buying the Gen 3. I didnt know that existed, look at panda looking out for us, even if its not mining related! 🖖

I had my shed installed by TuffShed, they took care of the permitting. But, yes, you would have line drop. I would using the next-size up in wire gage. But it does make more sense to do the garden tools out there in the shed. I have an 8x12 shed, and it's too small. I would definitely go larger if you can afford it. For density, I would consider hanging the CPU miners vertically with the PSU either above or below.

If you are going shed, use it for storage and keep the miners where they're at. It's not going to worth the cost or lift to move all the circuits to a new space and easier to move household items to a shed. Just my thoughts from a Yank in the USA 😉

  • @wx2833

Go with a 12 x 20 detached garage / workshop; you will be glad you did; it fills up fast, but it pulls in cool air and pushes out the hot like a cold Ram air system; or yoy can divide it down the middle and create a cold side and a hot side; just like the purpose built mining pods.
    Peace

@ RPM, If you put your shed close to your power line that feeds your house, you could just drop a new line to the shed add another 320amp service on a new meter. I did that to start my mining shed, I only did a 250 amp service cause I'm just starting out. I also had the electrician run my wires and put in the breakers for me. Pretty low cost of 2200 USD for all of that.

Get a shed for tools and stuff, just clean up the car space for wife’s car. She will be happy wife, happy life. I would love to have the 1660 Ti to go with my other 1660’s. Love your videos, my favorite CC.

USA! Forget a shed, just build a massive pole barn and slap another 400 amps in there, endless expansion man, you have to go all in!

You have a lot of real usable space in the corners by your racks / 6700XT towers. You could possibly move your low power rack back in that corner as well, opening up plenty of space for whatever the wife needs. I assume its storage space. Keep up the great work, USA.

USA-I totally agree with the shed being for miscellaneous stuff because of the fact that it does cost money to run everything out there and to like revert back to a non-mining room might be weird. But one thing I don’t like about having stuff out there is if you go outside to grab stuff is often and it’s a little annoying sometimes. If it’s not nice it sometimes gets a little dirty in there creepy crawlies come. On the other hand, it could be bad if it’s raining and you need to go out or the shed is not waterproof. Also it dose save opening the garage and closing it if your kids are taking bikes out and you are technically paying for the whole house. 😂

I agree with Seb, get organized and keep it all in the basement. You have a lot of unused space. GET ORGANIZED RPM

Great video! You could do like I did and make extra space by moving your car outside. I freed up a lot of space for more rigs by doing this. Thanks for the great content and giveaways from GA, US.

Basement looking goooood, I agree with others though, you could spend an entire week reorganizing it all. Might even be cheaper to pay someone to make design layouts rather than buying shed. Hope all is well!
