In 2017, people have realized there isn't going to be one crypto to rule them all. You're seeing vertical solutions where XRP is focused on payment problems, Ethereum is focused on smart contracts, and increasingly, bitcoin is a store of value. Those aren't competitive. In fact, I want bitcoin and Ethereum to be successful.
Except there’s nothing that eth or xrp or any other alt can do that Bitcoin can’t do better, and since Bitcoin is open source, any alt’s features can be implemented into a 2nd layer or fork, which renders all alts essentially just experiments for Bitcoin.
If you want to see a crypto that actually has a product and uses. Look at the crypto they talked about in this video. Theta. The future of the internet.

@@erik3371 First step is always to research the product you are trying to hack. One security issue that have been patched, might reveal another issue that can be taken advantage of. I'm baffled that the folks who enlisted his aid hadn't figured out how to back-up their wallet's seed words and store them securely. Okay, you forgot your PIN -- reset your device (or buy a new one) and restore from your saved seed words. Sure, it doesn't make for an interesting and impressive hardware hacking video, but it also keeps you from potentially losing $2 million. Yes, we all make mistakes, but this seems to be an all-too-common one.
I think people in general have this misconception that the hardware wallet "stores your cryptos", but in reality the hardware wallet is just a safe way to utilize your private keys to make transactions. The actual place your cryptos should be "stored" is in your brain -- by memorizing your seed. It's really not that hard. It took me about 15 minutes to memorize my primary 24 word seed. And, yeah, it may be prudent to stamp the seed into a piece of metal and store it somewhere safe.
Because of the nontrivial appreciation of most crypto over the past decade many people had made small investments that didn't justify great forethought that then turned into life changing assets while they weren't paying attention.
Yeah, it's one thing to lose a few hundred, or even a few thousand dollars. But how do you have 2 mil stashed somewhere, and not back up your security? Unless is was a couple hundred, and turned into a couple million. That could explain it. Not that there's an excuse for not securing $200. But it's infinitely more forgivable than being that lazy and irresponsible with 2 million dollars.
*Quick Rico Tech* , I genuinely appreciate your dedication to helping people who’ve fallen victim to these scams. Recovering lost funds can seem impossible, but seeing the positive outcomes and real stories here gives hope to so many. Keep up the incredible work!

@@idoabitoftrolling2172 Probably that "crypto wallets are unhackable" as a selling point on the safety of crypto currency; this was even more pushed on physical wallets.
@@WeBuild4Life Well, to be fair, there's only about a handful of people on the planet that have the knowledge, expertise, and equipment to do this kind of thing. Most hardware wallets are also easy to wipe in the case that they're stolen, so a thief isn't going to have months to research and prep a hardware glitch. If somebody steals your crypto hardware wallet, it is functionally unhackable.

The very best part of hacking IMO is the euphoric feeling you get when you break the device, developing the hack is part of the adventure, you really have to be creative, and enjoy frustration, there will be a lot of that, so many different approaches taken, so many dead ends found, but my favorite is when I do something unexpected and I get a NFW! that shouldn't work! Congrats on the hack!
My first thought was... How can you be sure that the person bringing you the device to be hacked, is the actual owner of the device and not someone that stole it?
The most beautiful part of this vid is his wife believing in him and the utmost respect and support for his husband. What a roller coaster!! Hope he can make a business out of it, it seems it happens way too often!

I love that story on the lost Bitcoin in the dump, it's in my hometown and the council are so ignorant and have refused him access completely to go find the lost HDD.
Depending on the landfill, there's a good chance it's destroyed anyways, flattened and punctured to a crisp. The ones I've seen run macerating bulldozers over the trash constantly (heavy machines with spikey wheels) and they repeatedly drive over the trash for weeks and build up layers. Nothing survives. The drive probably looks like a potato chip.

In 2017, people have realized there isn't going to be one crypto to rule them all. You're seeing vertical solutions where XRP is focused on payment problems, Ethereum is focused on smart contracts, and increasingly, bitcoin is a store of value. Those aren't competitive. In fact, I want bitcoin and Ethereum to be successful.
stop getting bots to comment spam
Except there’s nothing that eth or xrp or any other alt can do that Bitcoin can’t do better, and since Bitcoin is open source, any alt’s features can be implemented into a 2nd layer or fork, which renders all alts essentially just experiments for Bitcoin.

Joe is such a pleasant dude to watch and WOW he's talented. The hardware hero.
And, yeah, it may be prudent to stamp the seed into a piece of metal and store it somewhere safe.
one of the most popular passwords is 'password' so you know, it doesn't surprise me at all
Because of the nontrivial appreciation of most crypto over the past decade many people had made small investments that didn't justify great forethought that then turned into life changing assets while they weren't paying attention.
It unfortunately stems from a new technology that too many people want to make money in but know very little about.
