I hope you feel better soon. I'm planning on checking out your patreon too in the next few months - been wanting to sooner, just haven't had a credit card in years or Paypal. I'm starting to invest in starting my own digital freelance business and slowly but surely getting stuff like Paypal and better tech (I've been watching your videos through an old put together computer and still have a flip phone at the moment). Your channel has been very inspirational for me. Thanks again - take care

Vera about the wallet example. When my son was about 10 years old he found 200 dollars in the laundry mat while I was doing laundry. He wanted to keep it. I said no because that could be someone rent money and they may come back looking for it. So I turned it into the laundry mat owners. My son said to me mom how do you know they won't keep it. I said I don't but that's on their conscious not mine. I thought that was the right thing to do.❤

I've discovered your channel recently, and although I don't practice minimalism specifically, I find your videos and your perspectives about life in general so soothing, so down to earth, and so encouraging at the same time, that I find hope while listening to you. Thank you so much for the content you share with your audience. Thank you for your calm voice, for your simple aesthetic (and notice that when I say simple, I mean it as a compliment in this modern world of over-simulating images and loud noises and in-your-face product placements, etc.). Thank you for sharing with us the knowledge about life that have taken you years to learn by trial and error. I wish you a speed recovery and much success in your future.

On the positive side, those of us who did experience that toxicity can develop better forethought and intuition to interpret our actions and reactions so that we maintain a sense of calmness in all sorts of situations. We become more analytical and aware. We might be more sensitive as it is in our nature due to past experiences in life, but with proper love and care, we can shirk aside the societal expectations and implications placed on us and give ourselves the grace we need to move forward into a brighter, healthier future. ❤

It makes me sad, and I often find myself feeling that these friendships are somehow 'fake' even though I love hanging out with these people. This video got me thinking that maybe what matters is not that we stay friends forever. Maybe what matters is that we give each other good memories. What a great video Vera. I actually found someone’s wallet who was in Chatham on vacation. He had set it on top of his car and driven off. I found a business card that showed he worked at a newspaper in San Diego CA so I called them and said someone must know where he is and left my phone number. He couldn’t believe I tracked him down and said no one would do this where he lives but long story short I wouldn’t be able to look myself in the mirror if I had taken his money. ❤

#2 - Yes, I understand your "work friend" articulation. I learned this after my first long-term job and letting that go was freeing. Life is a journey. Some people will come in and go out and that's okay. Our capacity for close friends is less than our eyes realize.

So many nuggets of wisdom here! I so agree with listening to our gut. Isn't it amazing how many times there's no logical reason why something should be wrong, but our gut tells us something is wrong, and it ends up that they're actually IS something wrong with the situation? It would do us all well to listen to our intuition more often.

The hard truth is: very often unfortunately it's one of family member's - mother, father, sibling/s, grandparents, relatives and even close friends/ besties...want something from you- which is not good for you, it bothers you, steal your time and energy and if you ask yourself in your heart- you truly don't want to do it! I like authentic people and its hard to say what authentic means but for me Vera is a truly authentic young person. Her values are my values and I wish society promoted these values more because we would all be the happier for it. I wish more men especially would quit being angry and ignorant and stupid and learn that being gentle and selfless is not a weakness but a strength.
Money is like manure. Best spread around to do the most good and I am a firm believer in supporting charities that do good. That is why a shroud has no pockets although I do recall a story about a man in Nigeria who was buried in his Mercedes.
Tomorrow I intend to leave the house early, buy a bottle of cheap red wine and enjoy my day just doing something or nothing at home and not worrying about the state of the world and all those "problems" that we know exist and see where we live and on our TV screens. I think sensitive, quiet people feel the weight of life crushing at times so self care is good and necessary.
I sometimes think humanity is losing its soul but then a Simple,Happy,Zen video pops up and my faith in goodness and kindness is restored thanks to this little lady.

When I first listened to this on Patreon, I was struggling. I know that my struggles, whether with the way I think, feel or judge, don't have to define me or influence the way I act. The thing is, hindsight always seems to give me a better picture. I feel like time helps as well when it comes to learning from any faults, mistakes or misgivings. But to me personally, allowing my faith in God to be at the center of my life gives me more relief than what I could ever do for myself. I could spend all night questioning things because of me not being able to regulate my thoughts and feelings (and this has happened to me plenty of times), and even with Him in the picture, it still isn't easy sometimes. Focusing on faith rather than fear may still require work on my end, but just knowing that He's still there in the midst of it all gives me hope ❤

Recently I found myself feeling discouraged about something important in my life. I shared with someone that I was feeling discouraged and immediately they tried to offer unsolicited advise, like I'm not allowed to ever feel a moment of discouragement. How unrealistic, I'm so glad that I have learned to allow myself my feelings and that I no longer buy into the need to always be bubbly and up. I learned the value of true (work) friends when I left my long term job. I had a great boss and fabulous coworkers and the 6 of us still get together as if no time has passed (1 of the 6 is my sister so I see her all the time haha). Then 2 years ago I started a term position in a small town where there wasn't many opportunities and I had a boss who was a bit of a bully. I couldn't speak my mind to this person (which I normally have no problem doing) because there were no other jobs during the pandemic. It was tough and even though at that time I had to keep silent part of me regrets not being true to myself. I've been able to let a lot of those feelings go but it was a valuable lesson for me.

This wisdom really brightened my day! Thank you. I only very recently learned that if my mood turned dark in the evening, going to bed was the happiest choice I could make. I also often wake up with dark thoughts, even though I'm an early riser and a mostly cheerful person. I've learned that I'm not one of those people who can happily grind out a 5:00 am routine with exercise, journalling, meditation, meal prep for the day or anything else. I think you talked about this once too. After about 40 - 45 minutes of quiet relaxing reading (or even inspiring RUclips watching) I'm ready to do all the things. (Fortunately, I get up early enough to still have time for them.) Feel better soon. xo karen

Thanks! Wise advice and much needed reminders. Trusting your gut can be the most important. I learned that the hard way and still have regrets because I didn't believe in myself enough. It was even a problem not that long ago (needed to learn this lesson more than once) when I let the "experts" guide me when it came to my health, instead of trusting my own gut that disagreed with them. I was believing them that it was just anxiety related (I'm HSP too), when I knew deep down that there was something physical. I now know that my problems (chronic fatigue etc.) were caused by a long lasting perimenopause (started at 36 and I'm now reaching menopause and almost 50) and central sleep apnea. Just the relief of knowing finally what's going on with my body has reduced the severity of some of my symptoms and has given me the strength to adapt and move forward with my life in a more positive direction. I agree that sleep is super important too - night owl here - I sleep until late in the AM or the very least ease gently into the day. I hope you get your much needed rest too. take care

I love your advice that it's okay to share how hard you are trying. It IS so weird! Haha! I am just starting a RUclips channel about motherhood and homemaking from the perspective of a Christian doula. With friends, family, and even with my husband I feel a bit silly telling him how much time I've invested working on it. I genuinely want to go all in, but I do feel so silly about it! And you are completely right. There is nothing wrong with sharing with others how hard we are working.

    • @SimpleHappyZen
      @SimpleHappyZen  Год назад +2

No worries, it feels a little weird in the beginning but this'll start to feel more 'normal' after you're doing it a while. Definitely don't feel silly about going all in, falling on your ass, learning from your mistakes and growing from them :)

The part where you mentioned fear of faliure, is not weird at all. Of course it's a discouraging and embarrassing feeling for us personally, but I don't think we realize how many people around us actually feel this way and also downplay or use different copyng mechanisms. ❤

On the subject of seeing yourself in the mirror, I smile at myself in the mirror every morning and if I feel I’ve done something well and I’m near a mirror I give myself a thumbs up which makes me feel good. I got this tip after reading The high 5 Habit by Mel Robins. Being English I’m not used to doing a High Five so thumbs up works for me instead.

I hate to admit it, but I'm a pessimist most of the time. Мore and more often I have negative thoughts and I feel that I am not feeling well, but unhappy. But I didn't choose to feel this way. I've had arguments with a significant other about this many times, he doesn't seem to understand that it's hard to control. It hurts me that instead of trying to understand, he debates with me and accuses me of being like this, as if I do it on purpose. But I definitely want to change that because I've felt this way for years, which is partly why I'm seeking professional help. I have a feeling that very few people would understand this unpleasant feeling. Only the people who have experienced it.

rewatching this for about the 3rd time - I watched Jen Luv's live steam about James Charles being caught lying, selling so many people a product he KNEW was rubbish and remembered you have similar good advice: that if something is a "good deal", it's probably also a good deal for the person trying to sell it you!
Thanks again for all the good advice! so glad I saved this video to come back to

Thank you for making this video. These are quotes I should remind myself. I wondered if you made a video on how to manage the job market as an hsp? I've had difficulty in keeping a job and being fired for not performing 'enough'. 3 years ago I felt I had no choice but to become self employed. I really enjoyed it though.
