I do decluttering onb a regular basis. Last year I did the 30 day minimalism challenge twice and decluttered about 600 items from our home, like clothes, books, kitchen stuff, art supplies I did not use anymore. This summer we moved, and some more items went out. I think about what I need when it comes to clothes, and I sort out clothes I do not feel comfotable in anymore. I absolutely needed the reminder about not to buy unhealthy junk foood anymore. I ahve the habit of emotional eating myself and gained some weight during the pandemic, which is hard to get rid of when you eat chocolate and crisps on a regular basis. Sigh. I now try it your way: what's not in the house will not be there to eat. And I love what you said about excercising. I did spinning classes for about one and a half year until my body told me in a very rude way that I shoud stop them. So I skipped from overdoing myself with hard cardio training back to Body Balance classes and light weight training, wich I like a lot more - I feel that this kind of excercise has a positive impact on my body. Plus, I check how I feel during my period and skip those classes when I don't feel good enough. And I stopped forcing myself to learn to play the guitar because literally everyone around me does that, and bought myself a ukulele (and got two more as a gift from my hubby). And I have so much fun. :)
I found books by Thich Nhat Hahn and read a couple and about Buddhism. I enjoy his teachings and even found a podcast where you can listen to his dharma talks. It is sad he is gone but his impact on this world will never be forgotten.
I work at Walmart personal shopping. I walk around the whole store, every section for 4 hrs a night. It is SO HARD to not buy all the new stuff we’re constantly getting. Clothes & comfort things are my weakness. & skincare. I’m working on window shopping less when I’m working & focus on what the customer wants not what I wanna look at. I love your videos & vibe!
You're beautiful with your natural hair. Just wanted to tell you that. It takes time to learn to manage and embrace our curls, but when we finally do, it's great :)
I don't come from a generation that is adept at posting emojis, so I'll just say, I would enjoy to watch a video that explains mindfulness in more detail. Merci!
Thank you for your peaceful, quiet ideas.. I love your peaceful voice and sometimes I hear your voice mostly. Yours is the channel I seek when I need peace. Your channel environment makes me soak up your words. Thank you, Vera
I’ve read many of Thich Naht Hahn’s books, including The Art of Living and Peace is Every Step. I use the example of watering the positive seeds all the time, including reminding my adult children of the value in this. Thank you for sharing.
I’m really appreciating your videos. I am 6 months post-major surgery, having a big clear out and have started meditating. I feel like the clear out has ‘unstuck’ me and made me ready to move on from a really bad year. I tend to ruminate on negative stories in my head, blowing ‘bad’ things out of proportion, so meditation (okay, really I just stare at the beach video on the Calm app & try to calm my mind) really works. Your videos have been a huge help in letting me move forward with my life now. Thank you, Vera!
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! I think it's awesome you're taking these steps and that having a big clear out and meditation are already helping you like that. Really inspiring :) Hope your surgery recovery will continue to go well, sending a hug your way!
I sort of did the opposite with my to-do list... I've started to put EVERYTHING on (even like "take a shower"). It helps me feel at peace more because I feel like everything is taken care of, I just need to consult the list. But I have 2 lists - one is the "needs to get done today"-list (which is similar to yours) and the other is the "i don't want to forget to do that, but doesn't have to get done today"-list that just calms my mind
Clever! It's always nice to know we don't have to remember stuff, because it's written down somewhere. If I have a lot going on, I will write separate lists like that too
The garden in my mind is relatable. Not only are there plants to thin out but seeds to discard. I am reminded of heirloom seeds, the pure seeds that have been passed down through the ages because they are pure and unadulterated from chemicals and other harmful means of change.GMOs remind me of anxiety, hate and evil. Our power need purity.
Just got the keys to our new home and we are going to completely redecorate before moving in our things. I am so afraid I will spoil our lovely home by over filling it. “Letting the home let you know what you need” has really helped me 🙏 Love your videos - So so helpful ❤️
I relate to the slow start in the mornings. Good way to reduce stress. I started getting up an hour earlier than I normally would and call that my ‘holy hour!’ I do t even get out of bed … just slowly wake up, listen and pray, finish off with a 5 min yoga routine… then I start the day. It felt odd at first but I feel like a completely different person!
I allow myself a. Slow wakeup each morning enjoying my cup of coffee and setting outside. I listen to and watch the birds. I contemplate my day ahead and my most important thing to accomplish. I love the quieter time before the neighborhood wakes up.
I've been doing a similar kind of one important thing a day, spreading things out to different days. That has been helpful now that I can only walk a couple miles a day before my arthritis acts up. Another thing I do is to break one hard task down to several easy steps. I do one step, then find I can do another step or two right after it, and then the big task is either finished or half finished and I've accomplished something.
🍵🍵 Decluttering is the one I am working through at the moment, a little every day. I also want to include mindfulness in my life and your wonderful channel is helping me get there, so a big thank you to you.
Aw your so lovey& thank you for that, I am on a long term of decluttering, started at the time of Covid& I keep going, it is fantastic. I am fortunate that I love exercise& started running in my 20,s, don’t do that anymore, but you are so right that exercise is vital to health& well being. ❤🙏

I love your concept of Most Important Task. For me, that's often the most dreaded task! Haha. But I completely agree, when you complete that one big thing (earlier in the day) it's a great feeling. In terms of consumerism, a cute phrase I learned is "____ peace" like some people love buying bags and once you have plenty, you have purse peace. I'm at the point where I have peace with my belongings and when I see something I want, I question how much I really want or need that new thing. Would I still like that new item in 3 or 5 years.
🍵 Is this matcha tea?😂 I couldn't find the actual tea emoji. Anyway, I want you to know that I thoroughly enjoy your videos. You are doing an excellent job and you've helped me a lot in many things I was interested in, like decluttering, simple living or anxiety , to name a few. Wish you all the best! Have a great summer ❤❤❤
I’m gonna try drinking water in bed before I get up! I always drink water while in the middle of getting ready for the day - might as well get it done mindfully instead of rushing it.
@@SimpleHappyZen Update: I enjoyed drinking water in bed, it’s definitely something I will try to keep as a habit going forward. Didn’t do it every morning but it’s a step in the right direction!
“T” Yes. Mindfulness is so important. I know even in my situation/marriage, having my spouse who struggles with ADHD to get on board, life would be more productive & blended. I haven’t seen any of your videos in a while. I am so happy and motivated that this video popped on this morning. thank you and many blessings to you and your partner.
🍵🍵🙏🏻 practicing mindfulness has helped me tremendously in acknowledging transitions in the day. I’ve learned long ago that transitions are challenging to me, mindfulness and connecting to the breathe grounds my energy, recharges me- literally and figuratively awards a bit of breathing room, time, and space among daily activities, thoughts, interactions. Also, during times of stress or insecurity, mindfulness eases the critic and cynic in myself. Thank you Vera and friends- take good care ❤
Hello Vera! This is a wonderful video. I am a person that has so many things to get done that I could work myself to death and there would still be more to do. I am creeping up on 70 and just don't have the energy anymore. The expections for myself are ridiculous. Now I tend my flowers and then work a puzzle. I think I get more done without putting so much pressure on myself. Living in the moment is harder than it sounds. Self care should be a priority for all of us. Thank you for sharing with us. ☮️🌍🌲
To balance my tasks for the week, I make 2 lists. One is the to do for the day: the other is tasks I want to do for the week. Each day, I create a new to-do for the day and add one or 2 from the want to do list. Time can be balanced better with having regular breaks. I feel happy and not stressed. Your tips are a great encouraging reminder that the balance of rest and fun times with the to-do list works ❤
Hey Vera! Great video. I have to say my interpretation or understanding of mindfulness is prayer and biblical meditation. When I get into prayer in my morning quiet time it helps me release any internal burdens I may have and invite both peace and joy. It really is a blessing. I think I will also try having a tall glass of water after just waking up and see how that goes. Take care!
Videogames has been an addiction since young age. It did not help me to connect with people socially as also health issues. After quiting and engaging with meetup groups in my area, as also meditating and self-observing patterns in my life, gave me clarity of mind.
🍵 Great video Vera! I have been decluttering for about 5 months now. I have moved through the items of many areas of my life; massage table, essential oils, affirmation decks from when I was a masseuse, Dance gear, music collection/ instruments etc from my performer/ dance teacher days, wardrobe declutter: either too dressy, fussy, poor fitting, household items not being used (stored away in cabinets and pantry) Holiday decorations, just way too many, so just kept my favorites. Jewelry making supplies and craft stuff, I got plenty of use out of these items and I am ready to move on I even helped my husband with wardrobe decluttering! And Finally, Paper clutter ( this was the most satisfying!) I donated everything and I feel good about it as it’s part of recycling. It helps to think that someone else will discover a treasure in one of these items. Thank you for your help and inspiration Vera, I do feel lighter!
This is the expression in my face when I see that you’ve posted a video … 😃…. I love your tips and words of encouragement for a newbie at living a minimalist lifestyle!!! Thank you so much ❤ 🍵
Thank you so much for your videos and good ideas. Thich Nhat Hanh was such a great teacher. Such a beautiful, compassionate and wise soul. He had really been through it too! (He was in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and was helping people from both sides, even though, unfortunately his brother was killed by American soldiers. He walked through the emotions and still helped people no matter what side they were from. He has really been through it and has seen and experienced many things, yet chose compassion. What a beautiful soul 💕💕💕) Yes, I’d love to see a video you make about mindfulness. 🍵🫖 You are such a joy! Thank you for your videos!
Makes so much sense. #1, "Intuitive Exercise" is a great start; it charges my awareness to know (and to effect) my mindfulness to live wisely to employ all the other nine "changes."
Heart of Kentucky. SIMPLE HAPPY ZEN! Hi beautiful VERA in the NETHERLANDS. It always gives me great joy to see you. Today is SENSATIONAL SATURDAY. Have fun! Katie.
Hey Vera, how could you be soooooo relatable all the time so much to the extent of practicing tai chi and meditation 🤍 Loved the fact that someone out there resonates with how I am !! Would love listening to you all day long dear!✨ Thank you for sharing this.
I love the idea of letting my home tell me what to buy, this resonated with me because I recently moved and I had to buy everything from furniture to dishes and I have been trying to be mindful of not buying too much “stuff” and it is really easy to overbuy so I’ve been doing it slowly to see what I feel I’m missing and then I’ll go and buy that thing. There is always something that you’re going to like when you shop, for instance I bought some dishes and when I was shopping for a vase I seen some other dishes that I immediately loved and made me second guess what I already had but when I got home I immediately was very happy with the ones I had, they made me happy just looking at them, so I realize that that will always happen so it makes it easier now because I’m aware of it. I am loving your new home Vera, it seems so much cozier and warmer 🪴🍵
I like the book The Tao of Pooh and all of Thay's books, the one i keep is You Are Here. Have you read A Walk in the Wood, meditations on mindfulness with a bear named Pooh? It is one of my favorites. Also, being a minimalist I'm always seeking that ONE word to help me and recently it is LOVE. Cliche but its helping me in all areas.
You're so welcome!! :) That might be a good idea :) I do have a video about this but it's OLLLLDDD so I could definitely make an updated version hahaha
Hi Vera! I also get fatigued with excessive exercise. Now I listen to my body and do physical activities according to my energy level. Thanks for your tips.
🍵🍵 I’m still decluttering my home and would like to implement all of the things you are talking about. I already wake up very slowly and peacefully for years and I must say that I have a very long to do list, but only do whatever I feel like doing. Every little thing that I can cross off the list makes me feel better, but it is a never ending to do list, so not just for 1 day. I just write down everything that I think of, it is more like a braindump, and just try to start at the top of the list but when there is something that I really don’t have the energy for that day I will just skip it and try it another day. It doesn’t give me the feeling of pressure to see this long list, it just gives me peace of mind to put it all down on paper.
I get that :) If making your list like that works for you, definitely keep doing it :) It's important to listen and to know what works for you specifically :)
Re breaks at 4:48, Dan Jones Hypnosis says the brain goes through intensity/trough cycles of approx 90 minutes, and during the troughts you want to let the mind wander. When it appears to be doing nothing and you're not aware of your surroundings, the brain is consolidating learning and memories and preparing for another period of intensity. You didn't say what the people who didn't use their phones during breaks were doing, but they may have been doing something closer to that wandering, which thus explains why they performed better.
The to-do list of 20+ items, definitely. I am not sure how I'd get through what needs to be done, if I only had 6 in total. I'd probably cheat and lump them into one task e.g. go to work. clean house.
🍵🍵🍵🍵 I love this list of self-care tips. I struggle with self-care because I always prioritize other people over myself. It's a problem, I know. But lists like this help me get doable ways to take better care of myself. I could definitely use more mindfulness tips! Please make a more in-depth video on that!
So many good and inspiring points, thank you Vera!🥰 I really love the metaphore about the garden😊 It reminds me of the story about the two wolves: there is a battle between two wolves inside you - one is kind and full of love and will do anything to protect you and keep you safe, the other one is mean and harsh and will do anything to tear you down and hurt you. Which wolf will win the battle you might ask? The one you choose to feed. It blew my mind when I heard it and I like to share that story with my students😊🐺❤ We are so much more powerful than we can imagine!!🌷
It's the Holy Spirit ( Jesus ) vs. the evil one Satan. Jesus is our all powerful Creator and when we remember that, the devil hates it. We just can't forget that our power is in and through God. Then the devil never wins ❤❤❤❤
🍵 I will have to get the Art of Living book! I took a mindfulness class awhile back but I definitely need a refresher so would love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks Francine! :) Also, the link to the book is in the description box. I have to say that, while not everything in the book resonated with me, it was such a lovely experience to read and I learned a lot from it!
🍵Yes please to the video. Thanks. I gave up on having a to do list for a few reasons. What I didnt finish on my list I tried to do the next day but, if it still didnt get done I somehow felt like a failure. Plus i have a mother who had her own schedule for the day and heaven help whoever was in the crossfire if something didnt get done. So now I just go with the flow and if something "blows up" or whatevver I take it in stride unless it keeps happening month after month.
Hi Vera 🙂 thank you for tips about the to do list. I have some issues with that. I'll definitely try your technique. Good luck and be happy. Love you! 🙂❤
I feel like the de cluttering tips helped me especially the MIT the most important thing. I tend to get so overwhelmed by it all that I don’t do anything. My MIT will be shredding receipts and statements. I will put on a timer for fifteen minutes and that will help. Thank you!❤
Vera, i think you have videos with high quality content. Learning to live a life within limits does bring a certain level of freedom. Also you have come a long way from running away from creative work as a child to making it a successful business as an adult. 😊
I love your approach to to-do lists. How do you incorporate/manage the tasks that need to get done over a longer period of time - like this week, this month, or this year?
I kind of just keep them in my head and work on them when I have time/energy :) I know it's not the best way to get important things done fast, but it works for me :)
What a great video, Vera. Powerful yet gentle. The "to do" list is a huge one for me. Sometimes I feel like a prisoner of this. I like your approach and will try it and wanted to ask how you store away all the other nattering "to dos" that don't make it onto a list on any given day? Another thing I've started doing, tied to "to dos" (the incomplete or unaddressed ones) to help myself sleep better is to spend a few minutes in the evening writing down incomplete or unresolved things -- plus (even more valuable for me) I write a heading I call "On My Mind" and jot down something that is on my mind and may rear its head to disturb my sleep -- like something I really need to handle the next day or perhaps a conversation I need to have with someone or something I really need to make a decision on. That has really worked for me! Thanks again Vera. Greetings from Seattle.
Hi!! Yes, writing things like that down before going to sleep can be very helpful :) Also, about your question, I believe that just writing the most important things down, I make sure they usually get done during the day, but all the other small 'nagging' ones usually also kind of get done if I don't put any pressure on them, just by going through my day. Things just kind of 'get done' without me really stressing about it. But if they don't get done, I'm fine with it too because I know they're not the most important ones, and I know they'll get done in the next couple of days. And if I have too much on my plate, I usually just ask my partner to do a couple of the extra ones :)
🍵your videos are very good at distilling information. Ive relabeled my To Do list to the Could Do list so thank you. I have been actively working to not multitask. That helps tremendously. It gets more difficult as you get older or maybe we just get sick of multitasking.
Thank you, Vera, for sharing Thay's wisdom about seed watering - it is just what I need to hear today, and I particularly appreciate your perspective on his writing. Thank you for being you.

Awesome!! :)
Thanks for your tipps Vera! I would love a video about mindfulness 🍵
☕️☕️🍵🍵. Yes more on mindfulness please!! Enjoyed this video!
Thank you so much ❤
🍵
Aw hahaha that is so nice!!! 😁🥰💕 That makes me smile haha
What a beautiful soul 💕💕💕)
Yes, I’d love to see a video you make about mindfulness.
🍵🫖
You are such a joy!
Thank you for your videos!
Love what you shared about Thich Nhat Hanh and I couldn't agree more. I still watch his interview with Oprah from time to time, so inspiring...
Just watching your videos first thing in the morning is physically relaxing and mentally refreshing. Your voice is very peaceful.
🍵 To be wattering the seeds i really choose is suck an importen filosofi. To take power over my own life😂❤
Makes so much sense.
Have fun! Katie.
🍵 For sure. What great suggestions... truly appreciated!
Happy to hear it! :) Have a nice day today
I love your videos and your name because Vera means faith in my language❤
Hey Vera, how could you be soooooo relatable all the time so much to the extent of practicing tai chi and meditation 🤍 Loved the fact that someone out there resonates with how I am !! Would love listening to you all day long dear!✨ Thank you for sharing this.
Aw hahaha thank you! :) Have a happy Monday!
Thank you! Such good points. And I’ve learned that there is a name to what I do: intuitive movement ❤
You're very welcome, and always nice to have a name!! 😁
Thanks for this video and the guidance..have a great weekend 🌷
You're so welcome, you have a great weekend too! 🤗🍵🌺
🍵 yes to mindfulness video 😊
Thank you! 🤗🍵🌱
Glad to hear that resonated with you! I can totally relate to it being easy to overbuy when you've moved to a new place haha. :) Congrats!

🍵 yes please to the mindfulness video.😊
This was a very useful video with so much great info packed in. Thanks so much.
Aw yay, thank you so much!! 🤗🌺
🍵 Your home is so relaxing ❤
🍵 Yes to a mindfulness video!!!
🤗🍵🌱
🍵🍵absolutely!
Would love a video on mindfulness. Love your videos 🥰🙏
Thank you for the video!
One sugestion: video telling us how you change your habits with cellphone.
I like 3° 😉
Big hug! ♡
You're so welcome!! :) That might be a good idea :) I do have a video about this but it's OLLLLDDD so I could definitely make an updated version hahaha
This was such a great episode, so useful❤ Thank you🙏
Aw yay, thank you so much!! 🤗🌺
Hi Vera! I also get fatigued with excessive exercise. Now I listen to my body and do physical activities according to my energy level. Thanks for your tips.
That's great! Everything goes so much better when we listen to our body :)
I Appreciate You More Every Year! 😁

The technique of MIT is excellent and so inspirational for me. Thank you so much!!!
🍵 Enjoyed this week particulary - yes please demystify mindfulness for us Vera. x
Thank you! And haha yes, I'll definitely do that! 😁🌺
The to-do list of 20+ items, definitely. I am not sure how I'd get through what needs to be done, if I only had 6 in total. I'd probably cheat and lump them into one task e.g. go to work. clean house.
Thanks! Hope you had a peaceful and happy birthday. take care
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Corissa, glad you found some self care inspiration here! 🤗🌱🍵
The wolf story is the one I thought of too :)
Oh that's so cool! I never heard of that story before :) Thanks for sharing
It's the Holy Spirit ( Jesus ) vs. the evil one Satan. Jesus is our all powerful Creator and when we remember that, the devil hates it. We just can't forget that our power is in and through God. Then the devil never wins ❤❤❤❤
🍵🍵Wonderful video Vera. I love your channel.
Thank you so much 🤗🍵🌱
Definitely mindfulness and watering the seeds. I'm learning a lot from you Vera. Thank you so much!
Aw that's nice to hear, thank you! :) Have a happy Monday!
#5 Is so true. I have noticed a difference in my stress levels doing it that way. It kind of ties in with the intuitive/mindful theme.
Glad to hear that works for you too! :)
Oh and I vote 🍵 lol
🍵Yes please to the video. Thanks. I gave up on having a to do list for a few reasons. What I didnt finish on my list I tried to do the next day but, if it still didnt get done I somehow felt like a failure. Plus i have a mother who had her own schedule for the day and heaven help whoever was in the crossfire if something didnt get done. So now I just go with the flow and if something "blows up" or whatevver I take it in stride unless it keeps happening month after month.
I think that could work just as well too :) Thanks for sharing your thoughts Rebecca! Have a wonderful day
Wu Wei. I learned it from Vera and it has cut contention in my house; there are better uses for my energy.
Hi Vera 🙂 thank you for tips about the to do list. I have some issues with that. I'll definitely try your technique. Good luck and be happy. Love you! 🙂❤
Awesome! Hope you'll like it too :)
I feel like the de cluttering tips helped me especially the MIT the most important thing. I tend to get so overwhelmed by it all that I don’t do anything. My MIT will be shredding receipts and statements. I will put on a timer for fifteen minutes and that will help. Thank you!❤
Deciding which seeds to water really resonated with me. Thank you🍵
Your videos are always so encouraging and refreshing. Thank you, Vera! 😊
Aw thank you so much! :)
🍵Thank you to share these super tips with us!

Vera, i think you have videos with high quality content. Learning to live a life within limits does bring a certain level of freedom. Also you have come a long way from running away from creative work as a child to making it a successful business as an adult. 😊
Aw thank you! :) That's nice to hear. Have a happy Monday!
I'd love the mindful video. It is encouraging. Love the tip of camomile tea close to bedtime
Thanks so much! :) Have a happy Monday
I love your approach to to-do lists. How do you incorporate/manage the tasks that need to get done over a longer period of time - like this week, this month, or this year?
I kind of just keep them in my head and work on them when I have time/energy :) I know it's not the best way to get important things done fast, but it works for me :)
this is a wonderful show.
Haha aw thank you! :)
🍵🍵 Slowly finding my way to a new calmer life and your channel is really helping with this, thank you.
Aw that's nice to hear, and way to go for taking steps towards a calmer life! :) Have a happy Monday!
🍵🍵🍵 Interested in everything you are going to talk about 🍵🍵🍵
As it is always such a peaceful joy to listen to you! 💕
Hope your are doing great!
Aw thank you so much 🤗🌺🍵 Have a happy Monday!

Wow thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it and found it interesting 🤗🍵🌺
🍵 Great video, Vera!
Thanks so much! 🤗🍵🌱 Have a happy Monday
@@SimpleHappyZen you as well! 😃
🍵your videos are very good at distilling information. Ive relabeled my To Do list to the Could Do list so thank you. I have been actively working to not multitask. That helps tremendously. It gets more difficult as you get older or maybe we just get sick of multitasking.
Love that! Multitasking is a myth anyway :) It's oftentimes not more efficient, and only tires us out :)
🍵thank you Vera!!😊
You're very welcome, have a nice day today!
Thank you, Vera, for sharing Thay's wisdom about seed watering - it is just what I need to hear today, and I particularly appreciate your perspective on his writing. Thank you for being you.
Glad to hear that 🥰 Thank you!
Great video and advice as usual. and yes please do a video on mindfulness 🍵 all your content is great so will look forward to it.
