When I bought this, I wondered why I waited so long. The mono button...what a time saver. The A/B'ing is like the thing that you always needed but didn't realize it. I use this with my Yamahas and Avantones.
Unfortunately there's a volume loss even with the knob all the way up. At least my new unit has this issue. May you please check if its a common issue?
Not at that price range. I know the presonus Central Station is pretty popular, but I don't have any experience with it. There is also the presonus monitor station, which looks like it might, but again, you are spending a lot more money here. That is a pretty specific request, and probably wont be found in less expensive units.
Thanks for the nice demonstration. I wanted to get this 2X2 passive monitor controller. I have a question, Can I connect a pair of monitors and a subwoofer in 'A' output and a pair of monitors in 'B' output? Output 'A' = mon out- sub in- sub out -speakers in. Output 'B' = mon out- speakers in Please guide me regarding this method I have Adam audio t5v monitors and Adam audio T10S subwoofer.
I have a pair of JBL’s and buying a pair of Yamaha’s with a Focusrite Clarett. How do you connect this to your interface? Do you just use one set of quarter inch cables running from the monitor outputs of the Mackie to the main outputs of the interface? And also does the headphone input allow you to connect an play audio from an iPhone or something like that? Thank you.
You would go from you main out on your interfaces with 1/4' TRS cables into the back of the big knob, and then out of the big knob with two more TRS cables into your monitors, (or amp if your monitors are passive). The 1/8' input on the back will play anything with a headphone output, including a phone. Also, if you are about to buy some Yamaha monitors, check out my review of the HS*! Thanks for the question, I'd love a sub! ruclips.net/video/ttYkHjrZdoQ/видео.html
Thanks for the comprehensive review. I have a question: I currently use an MBox 3, connected to a PreSonus BlueTube v2 preamp, which is connected to a PreSonus HP headphone amp. My JBL LSR 305 monitors are connected to the headphone amp. Shouldn't it be possible to route the Big Knob between the headphone amp and the monitors? (I plan to get a pair of small Genelecs 8010As, which is why I'm investigating the Big Knob.)
Glad you. Enjoyed the review! As long as the signal going into the big knob passive is not speaker level, it can handle it. Though i would recommend making sure your signal is at line level into the unit. I also seemed like your signal chain is a little overly complicated with multiple gain stages. You stand the chance of degrading your signal quite a bit with that headphone amp. But yes, the big knob can go where you want.
Being passive, there is no headphone amp in these. The more expensive active versions do, but you have to spend quite a bit more money. Most modern interfaces have a separate headphone output, (like my focusrite 18i20), or you could get a headphone amp.
If your mbox has a separate headphone output, putting the Big Knob on your Monitor outputs would not effect it. - I hope that answers your question. What model Mbox do you have?
TFTGear right now I have the m box mini but looking to upgrade to presonus 192 mobile soon. But I have Yamaha hs8's and want to add 1 avanton mixcube for mono mixing.
That's funny, I was literally editing our next review video of the HS8's when you wrote that. I have used some presonus gear in the past, and have never been a huge fan, though I don't have any experience with the 192 mobile, so it may be a great product.

I absolutely love mine. I can't believe i ever did without it.
Good review. You should do one on the Big Knob 3x2. Im interested to see how much of a difference it really is.
Thank you! I will see what I can do.

I have not noticed or heard of this issue anywhere else. What is the Db difference?
@@mattingramsound The difference is about 6db. I’ve also double checked all my balanced cables.
6db is pretty significant. I recommend you reach out to Mackie customer support.
Morning Matt, Can you play out to A and B monitors at the same time or only one at a time?
Good morning! You must select either output A or B, you cannot use both at the same time. Thanks for your question!
TFTGear thanks Matt. Deal breaker. Any other ones you can suggest that let you play two outputs simultaneously?

You can absolutely do this.

Thanks for the reply. Subbed.

This looks great for the price but what about headphones? Were would you connect headphones while recording vocals in a apt studio?

TFTGear I see. I still have an avid mbox. Would the headphone jack still work being that the outputs are going into the big knob?

3:55 People always claim to know how a tank is made ...we are doing a great disservice to the military 😂
I know a tank is built well, that's all I need to know!
I used to drive tanks at Ft. Knox. I can tell you, NOTHING is built like a tank, and they still break down!
