Just wanted to address the bit where you say that it won't affect the quality of the audio signal at 3:45 - Of course it will. Everything does. Every added piece of wire, new set of connections, even the analogue passive volume knobs have their own set of losses and sound signature. This is a very well known thing among audiophiles. You might not be able to notice it or care since it's a very small change, but saying that there's no change is just wrong. Everything in signal path affects the signal.
@@BhogalSaab That shouldn't happen, you might be using balanced cables that are too long, or what you're referring to as 'aux' could be the headphone out of interface which sends an amplified signal for headphones which is why the volume is high.
Thank you for your video. I have one and it is great but I just moved and am setting up again and can't remember how to connect it to my Interface. I have 2 pairs of monitors and would really love a very simple and basic video on how to connect what first.
Thanks for the nice demonstration. I wanted to get this 2X2 passive monitor controller. I have a question, Can I connect a pair of monitors and a subwoofer in 'A' output and a pair of monitors in 'B' output? Output 'A' = mon out- sub in- sub out -speakers in. Output 'B' = mon out- speakers in Please guide me regarding this method I have Adam audio t5v monitors and Adam audio T10S subwoofer.
@@TechReflex thank you for the information. So according to your opinion I can't connect my subwoofer through 'A' output and then from sub out to speakers in. Right?
@@shravankulkarni8736 You can send a stereo signal to subwoofer, then speaker out from subwoofer, that'll work, but the Big Knob can't send more than a single stereo signal. So if you subwoofer has speaker outs, you can use those as this whole setup only requires a single stereo signal to be fed to the sub.
Get Phanteks p400a digital instead, you won't have to buy fans separately as it already includes nice ARGB fans. It'll look better and perform way better.
@@TechReflex thanks for your response.. thats still cool, I just planning to plug it on my sony dap, im still searching for 4.4mm to dual TRS for it to be fully balanced.. but good thing that it will still work with normal 3.5mm regardless if balanced or not, how do you find that adam audio t5v? i got same monitors, still pretty new but im loving the clarity. have enough base to not muffle the sound. anyway thank you!!!
I have 2 pc's with each of them it's own soundinterface. Can I hook the outputs from both interfaces up to one active monitor set with this device? So instead of using 2 monitorsets I need to hook up 2 stereodevices to one pair of monitors.
Yeah, but monitors will only accept input from one sound interface at a time, you can switch between which input you want to use with the input selector button.
@@TechReflex That's exactly what I want. I could have used my old macky onix for this but since I've enough inputs on the interfaces I didn't want to hook up such a big beast for that. Thanks for reporting back.
Idk if anyone else is having this issue with there mackie big knob, but I downloaded the driver and I hit the usb button and still I can’t record vocals using my daw doesn’t even appear in my daw does anyone have an idea as to why ? Or may the big knob be broken
No, but you'll need to be on a balanced chain, the buzzy sound is probably the interference because there are so many cables, so you need balanced connection. I am personally not using balanced connection and it's fine.
NO. This won't solve the volume control problem because, when you turn down the volume knob of the monitor controller you actually degrade the signal-to-noise ratio and, that causes loss of audio quality. www.head-fi.org/threads/volume-control-on-studio-monitors.584303/
It is a passive monitor controller, and it supports balanced connection, so there will be minimal/no degradation of sound, especially if you use a balanced chain.
@@PaperBoat. Yes, there's no processing or active electronics involved, it's almost like passing audio through a wire, and balanced connection will cancel out any noise that may potentially get into it, even though it is clean while using unbalanced connection too.
😂 I love that Intro
Thumbs up just because no one asks for this review 😭😭😭 keep it up, my guy 👍🏽

Bro how to use this for communicating the vocal singer in booth by using talk back
If our audio interface has 1 Studio monitor output only then can we connect this with Interface And Connect 2 pair of studio monitors ? Please tell
Yeah, but only 1 pair of studio monitors will play at a time, you can't play 4 individual speakers at the same time.
@@TechReflex Ok Thanx for Reply bro Need To know one more That When we connect studio monitors with balanced cable to interface there volume is low
and when we connect by aux there volume is high

Is this Mackie big knob passive change/affect the sound quality from our speakers?
No, that's the whole point of being passive balanced.

Im using this .. the Output audio quality is really good
dude your intro had me rolling haha - thanks for the video - and laughs
Great video, just about to get myself one of these. My only worry was that it colors the sounds but as it's passive, I don't assume that is an issue.
Yeah, that's not an issue.
Finally someone with honesty about a product. ... I liked you used the people have been asking.. then said the truth.
If it makes you feel any better, I was planning to ask you about that :) Anyway, is that knob a digital one or is it an analog pot?
Haha, good to know :) it is analog.
Does big knob 4*3 work as audio interface also? It got onyx preamps available in onyx audio interface. Please clarify

Only the white variant is available in India...the black one looks better in my opinion
if you use a source on 3.5mm would balance/TRS still work? eg connected to adam audio via xlr to trs on mackie and using 3.5mm plugged to a phone
Audio will play but it won't be balanced, as that requires active circuitry.

Get a 3.5mm to 6.5mm cable that has separate left and right channel. Studio monitors can be connected by 2 x mono 6.5mm to RCA/Balanced cables.
