You my friend, the first one that I have found on RUclips. Truly answered my question. That you were able to run into one source the Mackie passive knob. And switch between A and B speakers. I want to thank you so much. Nobody else seems to know that or they will not tell you that. I have left messages for almost everyone on RUclips that is reviewing the Mackie passive big knob no one ever bothers to answer me thank you for answering my question want me even having to ask you. if i connect the bigknob passive to an active speaker via TRS(balanced) and i use 3.5mm to connect to a source(phone, dap, or laptop).. would that work?
hello sir,, when i connect my interface(focusrite solo 3rd gen) to the big knob, the volume reduced a lot. I always set my interface volume knob to 12o clock(without the big knob). after i connected it i have to turn the big knob all the way up to sound like my usuall setting. i'm wondering why this happen..
Your solo like any interface is line level out for monitors, I assume a passive box like this is only a switch Without an internal amp it’s not going the drive the speaker load at all The monitors are self powered or passive with a servo Check your cable quality and ensure your using trs Other than that I’m curious what circuitry is inside the box, got one coming so I’m going to open her up and see what components are used The fact that that theres a level knob and no juice implies an attenuation, obviously but no ability to drive db only resist
Any signal degradation from the mackie or is it pretty transparent Lastly is there a physical L-R balance control,or do you use your DAW And very lastly, lol can you engage both sets of speakers simultaneously?
Hello, please one fast question can I connect to input "line in B" through 3.5 jack Bluetooth receiver such as Sandberg Audio Link USB for fast using bluetooth radio from smart phone when I have two active monitors? it will work?
I have a situation where I want to use my monitors for two different computers and each computer would have its own audio interface (my current interface is only Mac compatible and 2nd computer is a PC). Could I use this to be able to use my monitors on both without having to unplug to swap them from interface to interface?
I brought the "Big Knob passive" I think, its the wrong thing for me... because I need my headphone amp to work along with it.. but I cant figure it out... my interface only have one main out(L/R) I have the presonus Audio box 1818VSL and presonus headphone amp HP4... What should I do? Whats the config for this setup with the bigknob if any. Is the only option is to connect a 2nd interface to the Big Knob with the second set of speakers and toggle between the two interfaces. This will mean I will also need to go into the DAW software and switch interfaces each time I want to A-B the speakes, what a bummer! :( Thanks and I sub to your channel! From SooESoss
Yeah… wrong device unless you do it like I do. I have the Sterling H224 that allows me to listen with my primary phones and send a signal to be split to my Big Knob and then to the headphone amp and neither are affected by the other. The H224 allows my to send a custom mix to the headphone amp as well.
@@KeithronPowell thanks a lot.. I decided to return the bog knob and brought the audient nero desktop monitor controller... "kill multiple birds with one stone" Thank you for your reply
I wish! Note sponsored. I need affiliate links but nope. The links I have on this video will work but not for me to get paid… I need to see if I can get a link though.
Honestly, in a studio playing 2 sets of minutes (4 speakers) really wouldn’t make sense unless your editing in surround which is a different set up. The purpose in the studio is to test your mix on different speakers. No need to have them all going at once.
@@tone1585 You need a completely different product. Not sure if you're mixing or not but... If you're going to be mixing things in surround or even more than that you need to look at what software you're using and see what products they suggest. Guitar Center can help you find something but you'll likely have to order. If you're just listening and want it louder (not sure of a benefit there) you need to find a switcher that will allow multiple speakers and simultaneous play.

Perfectly explained. I cannot thank you enough for this. Much appreciated!

Hi mate! Great video! One quick question... how is the volume of the monitors set? 0dB? Thank you!
Yes… everything is flat.
@@KeithronPowell thank you! :)
Can you run 2 different speakers monitor sets and play them at he same time
No, it’s a switcher. In a studio setting it is typically used for testing mixes on multiple speakers so you’d play them 1 at time.
@@KeithronPowell thanks for the info, that's what I was thinking it was
I just had to stop at 1.20 and say thank youu for your amazing energy! fu** directions 😂

Cool Chair. Where did you pick up that Chair from?
Office Max
how's your experience regarding sound quality? compare to directly using interface output?
Hasn’t been affected at all. Using this with the H224 has been really cool

Yes… there is a 3.5mm Jack on it for that type of connection. I use it to connect phones when necessary.
@@KeithronPowell alright, thanks!!!
The one thing that is stopping me is that I have 2 pairs of monitors PLUS an Avantone which is mono😢
Understandable… this is the base version. They have others
what do you connect the sub to
The sub can be connected but you’ll need speakers for the highs.
very helpful thanks bro

I’ve never experienced this so I’m not sure if it’s the Big Knob or the Focurite that’s your issue

1) no degredation
2) I use the DAW as this one doesn’t have it separately.
Thank you so much!

Is it OK to connect 2 audio interfaces with mono cables to the input and monitors from the output with stereo cables?
🤷🏽♂️ did you try it? It’s not going to damage anything and it should work.
How did you hook up the sub to where it works? I’m trying to hook mine up I m stuck. Please reply when you can, thanks
Watching this video I walk through it.
Mackie CR8S-XBT Unbox and Review. Should you buy it?

You can just need wire splitters for the studio monitor cords.
