Hello all. I just recently commented here that after a few months the volume knob got noisy. Then after more than a year it got really bad and until 15 minutes ago, the left left speaker output stopped working if used at regular volume. When I depressed the DIM button, both outputs worked fine. I asked for help from my tech director at the place I work (a TV network) and he said it's just probably gunk on the circuits and switches. He gave me a can of precision cleaning agent (Bakku 550). It's made in China and it seems to be a mix of alcohol and some volatile gas that won't leave any residue on electronic equipment. He said to spray it inside the gaps of the switches an knobs. I did. NOW IT'S WORKING AGAIN!!! There is nothing wrong with the Mackie Big Knob. Just keep the contacts clean. I hope this helps somebody before they decide to dispose of this perfectly working piece of gear. Thank you Anwar!!
hi. My mackie big knob Left channel stopped working too in just 5 months. where should I put the spray in. just inside the jack or open the unit and then spray it
I just sprayed in the gaps between the knobs and the body of the unit. I didn’t open it since I’m not too good at electronics. Also the gaps in the switches. I also sprayed inside the TRS output jacks. The liquid will trickle down inside the casing. Please make sure that you are using the correct liquid. I’m not sure what the brand name is in other parts of the world. I’m in the Middle East. These Chinese branded cleaning fluids come from dealers in Dubai.
This is the best review i have seen so far of this product!, i'm planning to buy this for my cousin, because he has a small studio, so this is gonna be perfect for him! :D. The best of all: it doesn't need power adaptor
Another great video! I actually bought the Big Knob but realized I there isn’t an option to “bypass” (keep both pairs of speakers active.) BTW- the “Reverb” display LED on my MTK 22 is either off or flickering. Have you experienced this? I learn a lot from your videos, kind sir🙏
Thanks for your kind words. About the LED lights behind the FX bank, yes they tend to ‘fade’ or lose intensity over time. Since I mostly use the Plate on FX 1 and Gated on FX 2, these lights are only up to 40% in brightness now after almost 6 years of use.
You are absolutely right. The noise comes when you turn the knob. Might be upgrading to another brand soon. The stands I used for the Eris are not speaker stands. They are iPad stands/arms. I just fixed the base so they won’t tip over😉.
Thanks! Glad you like the demo. No, you can't play both sets of monitors because the switch is an on/off kind and selects only one or the other when either up or down.
It will work since the HS8S has left and right inputs. Just connect the outputs of the Big Knob to the HS8S inputs and hook up the HS8 studio monitors to the HS8S left and right outputs.
Thanks for the nice demo. I wanted to get this. I have a question, Can I connect a pair of monitors and a subwoofer in 'A' output and a pair of monitors in 'B' output? Output 'A' = mon out- sub in- sub out -speakers in. Output 'B' = mon out- speakers in Please guide me regarding this method.
Thanks! Yes, you can. If the setup is similar to the JBL LSR310S subwoofer, you can take the L and R outputs to the the sub and it has stereo outs that go to the monitor pair. I think the same goes for the the Yamaha HS series and KRKs as well.
@@ExileMixes Thank you very much for the guidance. I have Adam audio t5v monitors and Adam audio T10S subwoofer. So according to your answer I can set up the plan.

Sorry i Ask on another way, can i monitor music on 2 spekers when i change A and B but only from one source soundcraft? I want to connect to input only soundcraft and to output connect two monitors, that will be working?
No, you can't play two sets of monitors at the same time. The monitor select button is just one self-canceling switch, selecting one or the other if pushed up or down.
Hi, I just picked up a dynasty pro audio pmc2, which is a product similar to the big knob. I've got the same board, a signature 22 mtk. I wanted to get a controler, to be able to mute my monitors if I just only wanted to use headphones. I'm using all xlr cables. I've got two going from the xlr combo inputs that the pmc2 has, , to the main outs of the board, then I've got my speakers, which were previously plugged directly into the boards main outs, now going to the xlr outputs of the pmc 2. What's weird, is if I turn up channels that I've got mics connected to for example, I'm not hearing anything at all. I've got usb return on channels 21 and 22, and I'm hearing that, but that's the only thing I'm hearing. I use the Hauptwerk virtual pipe organ softwhere, and I've got that set to output to channels 17 and 18. when I put on usb return for those, or any other channel, I'm not hearing anything. there are buttons on the pmc 2, maybe I have something off, that should be on with them? Also, I'm thinking that upgrading to Mac OS sonoma, has some how broken support for the signature 22 mtk? Not totally sure about that though. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi there. Apologies for the late reply. Somehow my notifications got turned off for the comments. You must have solved this issue by now. If not, just check if you have forgotten to push the routing buttons on each channel to send the audio to the master section. About the OS. I always make it a point not to update the OS of any of the Macs I use more than two versions up to keep them working properly. I have kept my music production Mac working perfectly with Big Sur till now so no need to mess that up.
Hi there. You can plug the stereo output of your MPC to the 1/8” stereo input of the Big Knob. Another option is to plug the left and right channels to the TRS inputs of the Big Knob. I’m not sure what stereo outputs are available on the MPC but I’m pretty sure you can buy adapters or conversion cables for it so it can feed the stereo inputs of the Big Knob.
Hello Mate i got a question, you connect that to 2 sources, one is Scarlett seconda is soundcraft, but if you a change source on mackie you need to change source in DAW right?
Yes, you’re right. It all depends on which interface you picked as your primary output or input in the DAW. My setup is actually complicated because the Soundcraft’s stereo output is defective so I routed the stereo output of the DAW to the Scarlett. When mixing multitracks, I monitor through the Soundcraft since it is an in-line mixer.

Hello! Great review. Do you think that this unit change your output sound in comparance with your mixer/interface? Thanks
It has no active circuit so it is transparent. At least that is the idea. To my ears it doesn’t color the sound coming from the interface.

How to talk to singer,, by talk back through this
This unit does not have a talk back function since it is only a passive device and does not have power to boost a talk back mic.
Its close to an audio interface 😂😂
The active ‘studio’ models are actually interfaces. Only this passive one is a simple monitor controller.
