  • Knowing how TLC's Sister Wives marriages ended, I thought it would be a good time to take a look back to the beginning to see what went so horribly wrong. I have not seen these episodes before so I thought it might be interesting to give my impressions of the events that lead to Christine, Meri, and Janelle's departure from the Brown family. 💯. The moment I saw Kody crying to Christine about Robyn, I knew that he no longer considered Christine a wife. Meri's expression showed that she knew that she had been replaced by the other women as Kody's confidante permanently. Meri was no longer special to him. Janelle knew that the fabric of their existing family was being torn apart too.
Kody chose to be oblivious to the damage that his marriage to Robyn was inflicting on the pre-Robyn wives and kids. Robyn never understood that it was her responsibility (to work on herself) to merge with the existing family. She did not allow herself or her children to merge with the existing family. Kody expected the other women and kids to' work on themselves' but never expected it of Robyn or her kids.

Bringing Robyn into the family backfired on Meri from the very beginning and maybe if she had been nicer and had better relationships with Christine and Janelle she would've been fine with it being just them and Kody but due to Meri's own desperation in getting back in good with Kody,She claims they were struggling at the times.,and maybe she figured she'd bring Robyn in so it would be Robyn and Meri vs. Christine and Janelle. I think Kody saw that and started working that angle. I would not be the least bit surprised to hear that Robyn brought it to Kody's attention and it completely changed how he viewed Meri. Imagine if Kody,Janelle,Christine and Robyn had band together and threw Meri out of the family. It would've literally made Kody look like a hero and maybe Christine and Janelle wouldn't have been so upset about Robyn joining the family.

Hey Becky, I just realize something; it has been said that when Christine asked, what does the nanny do?? famous quote, “of course. But Here’s the issue and the whole point was so that “Robin could sexually entice and seduce Cody and give him anything he wants at any point time what he wants he gets just like a rich boy in a candy store”and what he wants could you imagine uck so disgusting but that was the whole point so she could make him “happy” in the bedroom, and they didn’t come out for hours… because they had the nanny and of course I’m sure Christine was aware of this. She just posed that question to make people wake up a little bit and then people did start to question and what is it that the nanny does that’s so great that so special that makes it OK for Cody to spend just time with Robin, right I mean think about that where are they when the nanny is watching the kids? Where are they?? and the fact that Christine decided to leave on her own terms versus you know Mary wanting to stay until you know they thought it was up, Mary wouldn’t leave, but Cody was not happy because Christine took matters into her own hands

Janelle was worried about sobyn and her snotty brats coming to the family bc sobyn didn't have a job but she brought 4 mouths to feed without contributing.

I think Kody was always the person that we experienced in season 17. He never loved Meri, Janelle, and Christine or had enough love in his being to be a good father to his children. He is in love with Robyn and traded in his entire family for a person who mirrors his bad behaviors of selfishness and narcissism. Christine was spot on in her assumptions that Kody's relationship with Robyn would be the end of their family. He married his mistress, adopted her children, and abandoned his other three wives and children for a master manipulator.

That is super spot on! They all had such a sweet set up, when they were under one roof, raising the kids. They grow up fast & you want to do it right! Robyn was/is a selfish spoiler. I believe in common sense karma. Those two will end up back in poverty, and misery. My guess is they will blame each other, sour on each other, but it will be too late to put things back together- for Christine and Janelle that is. Future outlooks- Christine finds a great guy, gets married to a MAN who only has eyes for her! She is a romantic and deserves the best! Janelle finds her forever home, and possibly has a quiet companion she spends time with, and no drama And Meri will resume a friendship with Kody, and is basically a career woman too burnt out to deal with another serious relationship.

I read somewhere that there's an old Nigerian custom where if a husband is mistreating one wife, all his wives suddenly become terrible at sex, cooking, and all the other services they provide him, and just keep burning dinner and all having perpetual "headaches" until he shapes up. Now that's how you do polygamy!

I decided to rewatch sister wives and I had very similar thoughts even within the first episode. Christine was dead on, and she remained right at turn after turn as things continued to unfold. It’s really interesting to me how she seems to perceive herself as not having had a voice back at the start of the show and not growing into that until later. I disagree, I think she had a very clear voice and she used it. What changed is her recognition of the fact her voice wasn’t being listened to, when she saw how Kody listened to Robyn’s voice. I think until Robyn came into the picture, Christine didn’t know anything different and so she didn’t know that Kody’s mind could be changed and he could be persuaded-as long as it came from Robyn.

I mean in the episode where Christine had Truely, Kody literally asked the doctor about IVF and mentioned his and Meri's fertility struggles. Over the next few months that seemed to shift. When Robyn had Solomon she asked Meri if she wanted her to be Meri's surrogate and Kody, after months of talking about IVF and having another child the whole situation dropped like a hot rock and some will point to Meri's indecisiveness I point to the fact that Kody said no. Just like he said he wasn't interested in being intimate with Christine because of her behavior towards the other wives once Christine indicated she was leaving. To me he seems too interested in his image to not through the allegations in Meri's face if he places an merit in them. I think he used IVF as a way to control Meri, if you behave you might get a baby. But once Meri started thinking about going back to school or finding some sense of purpose outside the family, he punished her by saying no to Robyn's surrogacy offer. Their intimacy was already strained and continued to deteriorate after that point. Then he asked her for a divorce, basically confirming his lack of interest of rekindling their relationship, so Meri had an emotional affair which publicly embarrassed Kody so he cut virtually all contact with Meri at that point. But he obviously didn't want her to leave, public image and all, so he kept her just close to back up him and Robyn which she probably did in hopes of "finding favor" with him, and ofcourse to offer financial aid to the family.

The only hitch was the guy helping Smith lost 116 pages and he had to retell the story but it was slightly different from what Joseph Smith said the first time. In other words, this man supposedly recieved a vision, translated it,lost a copy of it but couldn't do it again. This legitmately what the Mormons believe! The pluralism came in a bit later, and left too,but imagine Kody saying to Christine,"Honey,I've had a vision and I think Robyn should join our family with her mountain of debt, three kids, and no way to pay the debt off." Even writing it out it's really stupid. Kody had a vision of himself getting into Robyn's pants and he didn't care if it hurt his wives or his other kids. Just as long as his pencil got sharpened.

Robyn is like a used car, I’ll say it. She racked up a bunch of debt in her last marriage, then made it the other wives problem after she married Kody. Let’s not forget she had no job when she entered the family. Once the money and show is gone, so is Robyn. And she will find a new man (family) and repeat the cycle.

I believe that Kody intentionally manipulated Christine with that sobbing so she'd agree to the marriage. (Unlike Robyn, I suspect that Kody has the ability to intentionally cry.)
In reference to the suggestion that the wives be used to give feedback about Robyn, I cannot believe that Kody would have been open to receiving that feedback. He wanted what he wanted, and nobody was going to interfere with that. Kody would have claimed that any negative feedback that Christine gave would have been because she was jealous.

That first scene of Christine saying he'll run off with sobyn and her kids. I think this is bc she grew up in polygamy, she knows what's going to happen. Snobyn came to this family after seeking them out and stalking kody and meri bc she heard they were getting a show. Christine saw through sobyns lies and fake tears. Sobyn had a plan, and she still does and so far it's going her way. I do wonder how she'll continue to live in that big house with no job and no income. The only income she brings is from the show. The show is called sister wives. If there's no sw then they have no show. It's horrible how she uses all the resources for herself and her kids. She doesn't even watch her own kids and she doesn't work so what does she do all day?
Snobyn has done nothing but take. If she's given or contributed anything to this family please tell me bc I don't see what she's done. Also when kody cries bc he's "love sick" I just rolled my eyes so far to the back of my head they may be stuck. Snobyn is the most sneaky manipulative unfortunate looking homewrecking snake 🐍

She could be $130k+ richer right now had Robyn never came into the brown family. (Janelle paid off Robyn’s debt from her first marriage so she could get her home in Vegas as well as helped provide the $200K downpayment for Robyn’s McMansion)
Robyn fleeced the whole family. In one way or another Robyn took and took without any intention of ever paying them back. She’s a grifter.

Mind you we had purchased 3 or 4 of these in the past and he never used them. I knew deep down he was being coached by someone. I just figured it was a male friend who had gotten divorced. At least that's what I tried to tell myself for a little while. Then came the decision to be in charge of bills and the account. In 30 years he was never interested in paying bills, EVER. That's when it hit me. So if you see the warning signs and don't take heed.... yeah, he hid it all and claimed he had to pay bills with it, when I know that wasn't true. But it was gone from the account. He even drained the savings account that was suppose to be mine.

And when Robyn lectured the teens about going to a youth group of a different faith- janelle was on fire! Last example - the whole divorce and legal marriage to Robyn- janelle knew it was over for sure.
I think meri knew and regretted the whole deal about 21/2 minutes after she realized Robyn never wanted to be her friend and wasn’t going to sleep with meri (or maybe they did 😳)?? Rather, she just wanted her to go away and take her husband.

I always enjoy watching your videos. I really appreciate the insights and the advice that you offer at the end of your videos. One thing I will say though is to give advice that people should trust their instincts is something that is very hard to do in deeply religious circles, especially for women who are trained to not trust their instincts. They are trained to listen to and follow their husbands above everything else. That is the world they come from. So it's challenging when the inner voice starts to speak, and it's blaringly loud, yet women are indoctrinated to believe that to listen to the inner voice, is to not trust their god. That causes a lot of stress for deeply religious women. They downplay their religion so much on this show, but that is THE reason why they practice this relationship structure in the first place. Their religion expects it. They can say they were doing this of their free will, but after many years or a whole lifetime of indoctrination teaching you its against god to not practice polygamy...doesnt really leave much room for truthful free will. They come from a world where trusting the inner voice is highly frowned upon unfortunately

Something else that I have not seen anyone comment on is this. Like you showed Meri as being so sad looking and seems to be having jealousy issues with Cody spending time with Robyn. I saw several times where she wasn’t happy with Kody over Robyn. One could say, well Meri is the one that introduced them and suggested pursuing her to be a 4th wife. But I think there is something behind why Meri did that. I think that she might have done it out of spite. After hearing all the stories about how hard Meri was to live with. Maybe Janelle and Christine were being chummy and getting close (trauma bonding) and Meri felt left out. A third wheel. So she a. wanted a sister wife bestie that SHE chose. Or b. She saw that Kody and Christine were so good together and she was jealous of Christine and wanted to do something to hurt her. What better way than a trophy wife? After all, Meri was sharing him with 2 other women. What difference does a third one make to her? (Meri)
OR maybe Kody wanted Robyn and manipulated Meri into suggesting it. Guilting her with their religion.
Orrrr it may have been suggested by TLC at the onset of courting the Browns for a possible reality show. Great storyline!

Or maybe more than one of the things you listed!? You’re right. I think Robyn also had some nasty creepy motives for offering to have Meri’s baby for her. She offered it to Meri without even consulting Cody, but I think she KNEW Cody would say no.
Meri was deceived into thinking Robyn was FOR her, but when Cody said NO, it drove the knife deeper into their marriage.

Great points. From what's been said Kody favored Meri before Robyn joined the family but at a certain point they were struggling and Meri suggested bringing Robyn in. She had lousy relationships with Christine and Janelle and she didn't have the best relationships with their kids either. Notice that all the allegations that are currently being discussed have a recurring theme? Excluding Maddie every one of the kids talking are all Christine and Kody's. It's also been mentioned by Meri that she was more threatened by Kody and Christine's relationship because she said that she thought Kody was being more romantic with Christine and it bugged her. At a certain point I believe that Meri wanted to bring Robyn in because she had totally picked the bones of the releationships she could've had with Janelle,Christine and their kids. I firmly believe that Robyn brought the supposed abuse to Kody's attention and between that and the catfishing Kody was just done with Meri. For years he,Janelle and Christine,as well as the kids,I believe, lived in fear of her. She wants to get her own way and solely based upon the fact she alienated Christine and Janelle she wanted to bring Robyn and her kids in to sort replace Christine and her kids with them.

    • @dawnclark4635
      @dawnclark4635 Год назад +3

@@debbiekerekes4209 I think Robyn made that offering knowing two things. One Kody wasn't going to go for it and two,it would help her score points with Kody and Meri. Frankly considering that Paedon claims that Robyn was the one who caught onto what Meri was doing to the kids and told him. It's not the say that Robyn is a decent, kind person and did this to help the kids. I think she did it because she just used it to drive a deeper wedge between Kody and Meri.

Basically exploited Christine's daughter for free labor bc Robyn has never been able to manage her own children by herself. Especially after everything that has happened since, it's clear Kody has always had no hesitation in abandoning and/or sacrificing his wives and children for the benefit and convenience of Robyn. Don't even get me started on the financial abuse he's inflicted on the other wives and their children to make sure Robyn always had the best of everything while she does nothing but take.
