Hey there are you sensational subs how are you all today? In today's video I melt down what I was told is some sort of a pump and I'm not exactly sure what it is, if you know let me know. 3 melts in this video and some awesome pieces to add to the stack. Another long one today but next week I'm hoping to do a shorter one but I always say that and it never happens. Anyway have an awesome weekend enjoy the video and I'll hopefully see you all next Friday😆👋🏻
Been dodging Twisters all day yesterday in the Southern States, in JANUARY!! Selma Alabama got hit hard. I guess we'll have blizzards next week. 🤣 Hope ya dodge those wildfires!! Stay safe!!
For anyone curious, a fire ban basically means that, everything is too dry (aka lack of humidity.) and the risk of a fire going wild is quite high. Meaning that a fire ban is usually put in place to prevent people from accidentally causing large scale fires that get out of their control. Not everywhere experiences this kind of thing, which has to deal with the humidity factor. Anywhere close to like water, will always have enough humidity to keep fires within control for the most part (aka harder to start.) Also it's often issued during warmer weather too. Meaning if it's like, a fairly toasty summer day with no humidity whatsoever, like that of a desert... Then yeah, no fires if there is any form of dry brush around. Doesn't entirely mean you can't go starting a fire. Just means, be extremely careful with the fire, and try to keep it as small as possible. In the case of smelting... the heat alone coming out of the furnace could cause dry brush around the area to catch fire potentially if that heat were to drift enough to the side. Anyways, gotta appreciate BigStack for taking responsibility by not smelting that day, and also for giving us a three in one video practically in terms of metals melted in a single video.
I’m honestly kind of surprised that this is the first time we’ve seen this (as far as I can remember) and that we’ve never heard about fire permits or restrictions. Especially after the wildfires chewed through Australia.
I stumbled onto your channel. Your videos captivate me. It’s all I can do to keep from binge watching. I’m hooked. About the fire ban. I have my share of fire ban experiences being in Colorado, USA. Here that includes smoking out doors. It also includes anything that creates SPARKS like the cutting wheel on your grinder… that’s a no no fyi
Many thanks to your fabulous Aussie water bombers. They have been here in Washington State the last two years during fire season, helping immensely to put down forest fires. 👍
I melted copper for the first time a month or so ago(took 18 months), and it has quickly become my favorite. It is so cool to work with and watch in all stages. I’ve only been doing cans for aluminum, so it is what it is, but the copper is special.
I remember just a few years ago you weren't even halfway to your goal and I would spend the little time I had enjoying your melts. Now, you're almost there! Keep it up man and thank you :)
Bigstackd, u must be a genius. You have some time to do this and live your life. Bro. The longer I live, the more people humble me. And your camera work and editing is tops. I see u do multiple angles and never catch the other lenses. Very creative. On top of it all u r organized. And the script is great, full of humor and nothing wasted. Every shot has great composure and meaning. Holy cow bro. Next level. I've watched tons of your stuff.
If you've not tried it, for industrial grease/grime on your hands, try pumice sand soap. I knew a lot of mechanics who keep it on hand. I remember using it way back in Auto shop. That stuff was FANTASTIC! Took the caked on grease like it was nothing. Also did a lot to soften my hands, which was a surprise. I think you'd live it for grimey melts like this one. Either way, I am quite relaxed and enjoying this right now.
I use a face scrubbing soap with those tiny scrubbing beads in it clean my grime hands. It cleans amazingly well! I'm surprised the wife unit can wash her face with it. I do it all the time. It's called ( invigorating facial cleanser) at Target or ( Clean & Clear Morning Burst Cleanser) at the expensive stores. It's only draw back it they are finding those little scrubbing beads in fish now because they go right through the sewage treatment facility and into the ocean.🤯
Lava soap is legit, I used to pull and ship hydraulic fittings all coated with different oils for diff metal(brass/steel/iron/etc.) and lava works on all of them
@skru_ball Lava was a great one! I used it a few times, that liquid soap with the pumice. It's really hard to find the dry powder, though, that's the best for making the hands silky soft after all that grease. But Lava was still a great one!
@@bigstackD you deserve it. I’ve been watching your videos for about a year now and I haven’t missed one since I started watching them. They’ve always been my Friday night entertainment and that won’t be changing any time soon. I hope you have a great weekend and enjoy the week to come👊
@@cosm1c_moonl1ght15 I live in Northern California USA and fire bans are an annual event here. When it is dry, hot and windy the government orders a ban on all outdoor fires. This usually includes gas powered equipment and off road vehicles as a spark in dry grass can burn down thousands of homes over vast areas.
Sorry if this has been answered, I'm one of those feckin Sparkys, and I couldn't resist. Looks to be a hydraulic reservoir pump. Drain the oil and you should find a pressure pump of some kind that was connected to that motor, as well as threaded ports somewhere that are labeled "inlet" and "outlet", or somesuch thing that tells you where the hoses need to go. It gets connected to a hydraulic cylinder for things like opening and closing discharge gates on aggregate storage bins. As for the motor itself, I'm from the States, so I don't want to do too much guessing about it.
Love the crystallisation as the pour sets, you doing great work with the filming and editing mate. Skinks are awesome as they will help keep the bugs down a bit!
Your camera work is getting very impressive. That shot neat the end made me feel like I was watching a big production movie. Love the vids, keep it up!
For highly delicate dismantling, as seen around the 1:48 mark, I also recommend the Arkansas Speed wrench #2. I also find the lefthanded speed wrench works best for me.
I love watching the copper cool and turn to solid! Its sort of like watching a puzzle complete it self and sometimes the pieces seem to float up into position
From ice to steam = sublimation !! Also need to make a large gear blank from melting aluminum to convert the lathe to metric. Can't wait !! Thanks D for the inspiration !!
32:09 Bubble O'Bill socks! The nostalgia :) I didn't know they still sold them! Edit: Followed imeadiately by a clip from the Goonies. Dave Grusin did some amazing soundtracks
That my rainy sunday day movie bruv. Never gets old. The copper was like water! Nice work Guv the again for another good one. Nice to see the ice pups as well
Funny enough, I found your vids because I had a large amount of scrap sterling and wanted to melt it but ended up watching a bunch of extraction/refining videos. RUclips thought I might like your videos (I do) and popped a bunch of your vids up in my suggestions. That being said extracting the silver will be a chemical process so you will need the chemicals, a heat source (I don't think your furnace will work), and a fume hood or I guess you could try open air with your respirator on.
Small bit of advice...when seasoning your burgers, grind from a little higher up and you get better coverage. Doing it that low, you're going to get a big lump of salt/pepper in one spot instead of across the whole patty.
i believe what your working on is a hydraulic pump motor and yeah. the tank is full of hydraulic oil . yeah we use them on some dies to help push parts of with hydraulic cyclender in the piercing stages. the piece you got was the motor and tank your missing the controlles part of the unit. thats just a component of that big picture. thank you for sharing the adventure.
If I'm not mistaken, the relay contacts that have the silver looking points/contacts are just that. Silver soldered onto brass. They are small but can add up. Great video as always bud and happy hunting !!
Awesome melt! Every Friday I watch your videos here in Indiana with my three dogs. Been watching for many years. Got my forge and it's still going nice and safe thanks to your training.

We have burn bans in the US as well.
Here in Florida, a burn ban means no open fires....

"Cardboard stops fire brick sticking to crucible." Oh yeah that's the stuff I came here for.

Can I ask what fire bans are?
@@cosm1c_moonl1ght15 when it’s so dry and temperatures are high and things can catch on fire really easy
